Clamps Review I don't like it...
Well, This clamp set was a big disappointment. First of all, the spring clamp offers 1/4" - 1" opening but I found that this opening is only work for small miter jobs, such as small picture frame and etc. Normally you would want to use at least 2 spring clamps per corner--one front and the other one in the back for even pressure. Unfortunately, the maximum opening will not accomodate user to use clamp on the far side of the miter corner. I also found that the tension of the spring clamp was not strong enough and most likely it will soon degrade with repeating usage. (That's just my personal opinion..)

Lastly, here's my biggest complain. Clamping tool has a set of teeth where spring clamp gets hooked. The way it works is that you tuck its spring clamp onto the tool and open (or spread) the spring clamp by squeeze clamping tool. The problem is that when you try to remove spring clamp off the work piece it's very hard to get a good grip because spring clamp, when opened wider, is either too narrow or too wide for set of teeth to bite on. Beside, the design of the tool was very poor, it is hard to work around work piece and spring clamp. I ended up return it right back.

Clamps Review great help for any trim job
These little clamps are great on any mitered joint--whether it's base, casing, crown or cabinet doorframes. They will also allow you to clamp up 45-degree joints (like on cabinet face frames or column wraps). Your joints will be tighter than you can ever get trying to hold the pieces and brad them together. Just clip it on and watch the joint push together.

The sharp points will leave a small brad sized hole, easily filled for paint grade. You make up for the small indent on stain grade by using fewer, if any, brads. The points on the clamp can tear soft woods, or even hardwoods if not planted securely before releasing the spreader.

Buy extra clamps--you'll quickly find so many uses that four will not be enough. We usually have 10 clamps between the two trim carpenters, and are looking for more.

Clamps Review much needed fix
As a trim carpenter I've found these clamps to be just the thing for tightening up outside miters in crown molding, baseboard, casings, mitered risers, etc. An ingenious, lightweight and inexpensive tool I reach for all the time. The spike tips can leave an unsightly gouge in soft woods, but for paint grade work it doesn't matter, and most of the natural species we use (maple, oak) are hard enough that the clamps only leave a brad-nail-sized hole. Haven't tried the suction cups yet -- maybe that's the ticket. Buy 'em.

Clamps Review Wood Clamp
This clamp is an excellent moderate pressure clamp for assembling ang gluing wood projects. Unfortunately this family of clamps is limited to 50 inches.

Clamps Review An Extra Set Of Hands
The quick change is very helpful for various tasks. The only problem I experienced is that the Quick Change side(reversible side) contains plastic clips. Mine broke. I had to buy a second just to make it useful again. keep in mind how much pressure you apply and make sure the clip is fully engaged befofe using the tool.

Clamps Review Its a big momma, get the other sizes as well
The big benefit to these is that you get true mobility out of them. While holding a piece of work, lined up, in one hand, you use these quick grips in the other hand to secure the work. If it slips while clamping, it is still a one handed tool to release it, and reclamp it again. Enables you to maintain a professional flow to your work. I feel awkward when using regular clamps in comparison. They require two hands. You could use a spring clamp to hold it together, then get another clamp to give it a final hold, but the quick grip saves you from having to do that.
Having these clamps in a few different sizes is beneficial as well. Small ones are more frequently used, and don't get in the way. The 33 1/2" is great when you need to hold larger projects together, and you can't effectively use two smaller ones to substitute. Additionally the macro clamps give you deeper jaws for a farther reach, enabling you to use them for securing work, to your radial arm saw table for example. They are fast enough to be used for almost any application. Sometimes I use them to secure work when sanding with a power sander. A couple squeezes and they are on, and one squeeze and they pop off.
After getting the smaller ones, and using them, I immediately order two of the 33 1/2" for larger projects, and for tie downs on equipment, including the drill press, and occasionally the radial arm saw.
Their is a small rubber stopper, which you can readily remove, in order to reverse the end, and make it a spreader as well. Something not needed very often, but difficult to achieve without one of these.
One note is that these have built in rubber pads, that completely cover the metal internal end. That is an advantage when you do not want to mar the wood. That and the fact that you can squeeze these with one hand, creates a mechanism that is easy to use, but not something that you would want to use for strength clamping. As a safety measure, these clamp sufficiently for most operations, but a threaded bar clamp, is stronger. So for those operations where extreme strength is needed, these are not the clamps to use. You sacrifice mountain holding strength for the ease of use. For example if I was using a large bit on the drill press, and drilling into metal, I would clamp it with something more. Even the slightest movement in an operation like that, could cause a snag, sending the piece into movement. If you are using just one of them, at the end of a 24" board, and decide to rout the other end, it will move on you. Securing it with two of them, and it is super tied down. You get my drift.
The big advantage of quick grip clamps, is that they handle wood beautifully, even for glue up operations. Hold workpieces more than securely to do the job in most applications, and are so handy that they deserve more than 5 stars. I would feel lost without them. It is another tool in the must have category.

Clamps Review needs little modification
Works great if you use a 2x dimentional lumber big enough, most 2x s are little to narrow and your saw sits in an angle (not level), we solved the problem by using shims to fill the voit an level the work platform

Clamps Review The Best Valued Miter Saw Stand
I love this stand. I highly recommend getting the 35" Work Center height as it is the most comfortable ergonomically. The portability is the key feature of this stand. The instructions note the maximum placement of the legs is five feet, but I found it to be extremely stable beyond that. The use of a 2x6 is de riguer for maximum support. Where this Work Center excels is in installing exterior siding. You can fully support long siding pieces with an equally long 2x cross member. For added utility pick up an extra Trojan sawhorse set to make a sawhorse pair when you aren't using the Work Center.

Clamps Review Well worth the money.
I bought the 35" model and I'm glad I did. I am six feet tall and far-sighted and I appreciate not having to bend over to get my bifocals to focus. Although the portability feature appealed to me when I ordered it I set mine up when I first got it and haven't taken it down since.

Clamps Review A well made tools with flaws
This tool was beatifully conceived for someone who is always in a hurry to drill the correct spacing however the drilling in itself is flawed, instead it should be some kind of vix bit with self centering drill bits and interchancheable bits instead of bushing and having to move that litlle plate that holds the bushing in place, please taper all holes on jig to accept vix bit and we will be in better shape.

Clamps Review Accurate, but be gentle - prep needed for router work
First, kudos to Amazon. I ordered this Monday, and it arrived today (Wednesday) - on free SuperSaver shipping. Wow.

I have been an amateur woodworker for 35 years. We are building a new home, and I am doing all of the trim work and making all of the cabinetry. I bought this jig because of the significant number of upper cabinets that have adjustable shelves in them.

The jig is very well made, and the bushings fit snugly into the sled and the rails. holes for support pins are placed very accurately using this jig. Like the other reviewer here, I am using the jig with a router/down-spiral bit/bushing combo rather than a drill/bit/stop collar setup. To do this without encountering flex in the rails and tipping of the router, it is very helpful to cut a couple of 3/4 x 3 "sleds" and attach them to the router base just outside of the Veritas sled. This adds a great deal of stability, and makes it virtually impossible to tilt the router as it plunges (causing an oblong hole.)

I did find that it was easy enough to make the entire jig flex with little more than gentle tightening of the rods. It will be interesting to see if the pressure that can be applied without flexing will turn out to be enough as the project moves along.

I appreciate the thought and effort that goes into a well made tool. This one is nice.

Clamps Review Excellent
I'd like to say that Veritas makes some of the finest hand tools i know of. I used the shelf drilling jig to make 2 solid maple bookcases, with adjustable shelves.
Using this jig is nearly makes a weekend warrior like me look like a professional.
This jig makes flawless adjustable shelves.
Save yourself a headache and buy the extensions as well.

Clamps Review A good clamp - with limitations.
These clamps are the little cousin of Pony's great 3/4" pipe clamps. While the 1/2" clamps work fine within their limits, they do have limits. Applying a lot of pressure will flex a 1/2" pipe, possibly leading to an out of square joint. I also do not think that the clamp tightening mechanism is as well made as on the 3/4" clamps, but it is still pretty good. I have several of these clamps and while I think they are a good value for the money, I would suggest spending a few more dollars for the 3/4" clamps.

Clamps Review Not Godzilla, But A Strong Clamp
For maximum clamping power, the " pipe clamp is the way to go. If your needs are not as demanding, then then this is the clamp for you.

The crank style handle worked very smooth and has adequate travel. The adjustment with the handle was such that either light or heavy pressure could be applied with ease. The clamps can also be set horizontally on a flat surface allowing you to edge glue pieces for tabletops very easily. The beauty of this style clamp is the ability to change clamping length needs quickly. One clamp with multiple lengths of threaded steel1 " pipe gives you endless capabilities.

While the steel bar type clamps does have their niche for lighter task (drawer construction, carcasses assembly, etc) and the " pipe clamps handle you most demanding jobs, these clamps could be considered a hybrid (in capacity rating) of the two. For my money though, its worth a little extra in investing in the " model as oppose to this one. But then again, why not have both? You can never have enough clamps!!!

Clamps Review Bessey EKT-55 edge clamp
Very pleasant to use. The large metal casting is suprisingly lightweight, and some of the mechanism inside is plastic, so it is nice and light. I used mine to clamp edge molding onto plywood while gluing, and it gripped just fine, no slippage at all (so yes, to the reviewer above, it's great for bare wood). Much faster and easier to use than bar clamps. Now if only they can dramatically lower the price so I can get a bunch of 'em instead of just one...

Clamps Review Bessey EKT55 Clamp
This clamp fills a specific need pretty well (at a significant price). I have used it primarily to install face frames on cabinets. It is easy to use and light considering its size. The mechanism worked smoothly. My only disappointment was that it did not apply as much pressure as I hoped. This may be because it was trying to grip a finished surface. I think it might do better on raw wood. I would be concerned if I needed a lot of pressure and the inside of the cabinet was laminated. I tried the Gross-Stabile model and took it back to get these. I am happy I did.

Clamps Review Just what I expected
Good price and fast shipping will definately use these guys again.

Clamps Review You NEED this clamp
As with the entire quick grip products the features that should entice you to buy and use the Quick-Grip 00550 50" Standard Bar Clamp are the ease of adjustment and the fact that it won't mar even the softest of wood yet still provide ample force for your project. People with low hand strength or hand pain can use the trigger ratchet used for the adjustment with ease. It only requires a firm squeeze just over the pressure used for scissors.

Clamps Review Great clamps unless you're a pro
Great clamps for the average Joe like me. True working lenghts are nice. Read some negative reviews that the handles were sticky and didn't turn well when screwing the clamp down. When I got them they were a little sticky, I put some paste wax on the threads and now they work great. 5 stars for price - 3 stars for quality (average) so 4 star total. Won't find more clamps with this kind of capacity for the money anywhere. I am ordering another set.

This gauge is easy to set up and easy to position. You may have to make a few adjustments to true it all up but, when your finished this thing is rock solid. The T-track system allows you to extend your gauge well beyond the edge of your table for larger pieces.Made with a combination of aluminum and steel this thing is built to last.I do recommend coating the bar with a dri-cote type product if rust is a concern. Now get out there and cut some miters.
