Clamps Review Very Handy to Have Around
I usually prefer the Bessey screw clamps, but I am more often than not reaching for the quick grips. I use them so often, I've purchased an additional set. They don't exert the torque you can get from a screw clamp, but they are far handier.

One set of clamps that I purchased were flawed; they would slip when I tried to clamp them tightly. I returned them and haven't seen the problem again. I've never had the clamps slip again, so if you run into that, I would suggest returning them for new ones. A word of warning, I did break one twisting the clamp . I was trying to line two pieces of wood up and the clamps wouldn't clamp tight enough, so I leveraged them to get the extra torque and one broke, but I was definitely using it outside of it's intended abilities. They would never break using it within the limits of the clamp, so don't fret.

They are always in constant use when I'm using a router, or doing any kind of sanding. Their rubber pads and handy size allows you to slip them over a work-piece quickly and get back to what you were doing. Originally, I was a bit apprehensive ordering them when I was comparing them to the regular sized Quick-Grips I own, but they are worth it for sure. You will keeping coming back to these time and time again when you need an extra hand around the shop, and the work-site. Great Buy,I won't hesitate to purchase them when I need more.

Clamps Review bent clamps
i bought these clamps based on several brief reviews in woodworking magazines. they are well designed, heavy-duty, and easy to use. the bench dogs add-ons and tail rest are a nice bonus. the 24" and 40" clamps were perfect, but the steel bars of the 60" clamps were both bent along their length (2" off) and twisted off perpendicular (by 4 and 7 degrees). i was able to clamp the end of the bar to the table of a 500 pound bandsaw using the 24" jet clamps, and then twist the clamp head the opposite way, and this fixed the twist - but it requires a lot of torque. i think they will work fine, but this was not very good quality control.

Clamps Review It Works
This is not a complicated piece of equipment, but an essential piece of equipment for a dust collection system. The ends were all 4 inches and the hose fit snuggly on the end, and the wire clamps held sercurely. Overall, a good link in the chain.

Based on the design and area to cover in the dust collection system, if possible, it is better to use the "Y" fitting rather than the "T". The Y connection allows for a better flow of air, more continuous, than the T. I used 4 Y's and 2 T's. The T's are in the corner of the shop.

Clamps Review A Splice is a Nice Splice
Not a real technical piece of equipment, but it is 3" on both sides, the hose fit easliy over each end and the wire clamps fit snuggly, putting it all together.

Using the splice allowed for use of the entire hose, especially since I cut the ten foot section into exact lengths for the different equipment and branches on the DC system.

Clamps Review Decent vise, good price, but no mounting hardware and poor instructions
This is a reasonable quality vise at a good price, especially given the free shipping on such a heavy item. However, I was disappointed that there was no mounting hardware included in the box, no mounting instructions, no paper template, and not even a list of recommended mounting hardware to buy. So now I have to guess as to what mounting hardware would be best for affixing this to my workbench. Given that the cost of including reasonable instructions or a "go buy this from your local hardware store" list is basically zero, this seems a totally avoidable disappointment.

Clamps Review Not Quite a Record 52 1/2, but not bad
I own a Record 52 1/2 quick release vise. I would have gladly bought another when I needed an additional bench vise for a new bench, but sadly Record stopped producing woodworking vises. The Jet Vise is not quite as heavy in terms of the castings and rods, nor is it as cleanly finished, but overall, it's decent vise. I like the red color. For the price, the castings ought to be cleaner, the handle more than a rod with end nuts, and the dog made out of phenolic plastic or the like instead of iron so as to be more tool friendly. I would have found the Southeast Asian product a great deal at a price of around $85. As it is, it is sufficient, but a little disappointing especially in comparison to my Record.

Clamps Review Decent clamps
I have half a dozen of these clamps in my shop and I think they are decent little clamps. Being steel, they are very sturdy and I have found the spring/jaw tension to be excellent. Though I don't use them all the time, at times I find myself with a clamping need that only these clamps can satisfy. The only reason that I am not giving these five stars is because over time the rubbery-plastic tips on the jaws (that protect your work) tend to work loose and slide off. This can be a bit annoying. Other than that one minor complaint, these are good clamps that I have had a lot of success using.

Clamps Review 3410 Clamps
I have both the Quick-Grip 12" and Jorgensen 3410 clamps and use them equally. Both are easy to setup and hold well. However when I used a slight bit of higher than normal pressure on the Jorgensen clamp it gave way. The hold mechanism failed. The clamp was replaced by the dealer with no problems but I have yet to experience this on a Quick-Grip. On the other hand when used within their limits they hold exceedingly well. The large pads protect the wood and the grip style works well for my applications. I will have no hesitation purchasing other sizes to use for my other projects. All this and the price is very reasonable.

Clamps Review Good bargain
This tool(the Jorgenson Clamp and Spreader Clamp) compares very favorably with the Quick-Grip Quick change clamp and spreader but at a much lower price point for each length. The Jorgensen is well made and provides adequate clamping strength for most any application. The longer lengths tend to deflect under heavy pressure but no more than the Quick-Grip or other bar clamps with similar bar size. The Jorgenson is not as easy to rapidly position as the Quick-Grip due to the difference in the quick release mechanism but once both clamps are in the approximate location, both clamps become very similar in the amount of time and strength required to reach the final clamping pressure.

The bottome line is that the Jorgenson is very similar in ease of use to the Quick-Grip clamps at 75% of the price.

These are not necessary with small drawers. However when lining up large drawers, they make a frustrating job much easier. It should be noted that they really work best with the bracket mounting tool also manufactured by Kreg.

Clamps Review TOO much left to sand
These plugs are almost perfect. The purpose of this plug is to cover up the somewhat unsightly hole left when creating a joint with the Kreg Pocket Jig. They only need to be used if the joint is made somewhere it can bee seen like the inside of a cabinet door when it is opened. I bought these for doors I was making on a linen closet out of oak. They worked nicely the only problem is they are a little on the big side and once they are installed in the hole and all glued in they protrude past the surface of the wood 3/16" to 1/4" and that is quite a bit of sanding to do if you have done a whole door or in my case four doors. That amounted to 32 plugs to sand. I just stood up the frames and set my table saw to a very close position and ran them through and was able to cut off the majority of the excess and then the sanding went pretty fast. This is a very dangerous way to do this and if the plugs were just smaller this step could be eliminated. I don't own a belt sander but it would be a safer way to do this but then you have the risk of gouging your joint and damaging it then you get to start over and why would you have to spend another $100 for a tool to knock down the excess plug. I am going to build more frames soon but they will all be getting painted not stained so I will be using wood filler instead of the plugs so no more close calls with the saw blade for me.
