Clamps Review The Bessy Beast
The picture shown at this time is not the clamp, that is clearly not even close to a 5-1/2" throat depth. Anyhow back to the review. I had purchased 4 of these Beefy monsters to clamp some boards together to glue them. I definitely got my money worth. First off they are ridiculously oversized (big time kudos from me) huge handle, thick rail and jaws. Coming standard with big pads to protect the workpiece was also great. It weighs quite a bit too, which I like. In fact the only reason I would say someone would not like these clamps is because they are not a big, strong person, and just physically could not handle these clamps regularly. I am a pretty big guy so I can appreciate things made my size. Bessy, in my opinion, makes the best clamps around, and this is just another example of their quality products.

Clamps Review These are a nice clamp for a medium-heavy duty clamp
These heavy duty models from Bessey are a lot beefier than the picture shows. Definitely a strong clamp. I bought a couple to hold things down on the drill press, and for general purpose work. The clamping mechanism works well without any hassles. Easy to adjust, lot's of pressure, and looks substantial. Highly recommended.

Clamps Review Bessy bar clamps puts the strangle hold on the competition
By far, Bessy clamps beats the competition. You cannot buy a better clamp of this type (or any type for that matter) than a Bessy. The design allows positive, firm pressure to be placed on the working surface. The oversized wooden handles allow just the right amount of torque to be used without busting your knuckles. The only drawback to this clamp is the tendency for the free arm to slide down the bar when using it inverted. However, its lightweight and German manufacturing more than make up for any shortcomings. You can't go wring with these clamps.

Clamps Review Another fine Bessey product
I bought this clamp to use for light duty small projects and it has lived up to my expectations. One would possibly assume that since the UniKlamp is the light duty and less expensive version of the K-Body it wouldn't be made to the same standard. Nothing could be more wrong. This clamp is made in Germany like its bigger brother, and the quality is top notch. It performs as well as the K-Body, but is smaller and lighter, and perfect for jobs not requiring the heft of the K-Body clamp. It is still more expensive than comparable clamps but you get what you pay for. I'll add that this is my umpteenth purchase from Amazon and again I have been thoroughly pleased with both service and product. Don't waste your money on cheap junk - buy quality and you won't ever look back.

Clamps Review Super Clamp -- Bessey Quality at a Lower-than-K-Body Price!

First of all, I agree with everything the other reviewer said except for the idea that these clamps might not stand up in use by a professional cabinet shop. Used properly, the durability of these clamps should be as good as a K-Body. Of course, if you have an application where you're trying to squeeze warped panels together, you might want to use the K-Body style clamps, but in normal applications, these clamps are more than adequate. Remember that clamping too tightly will compromise the glue joint anyway (by squeezing out too much glue).

These clamps are first rate in fit and finish -- typical Bessey quality, and are lighter and easier to handle than the K-Body clamps. I use mine in nearly every project, and I highly recommend them. Try them! You won't be disappointed!

Clamps Review Excellent clamps with few drawbacks
I recenlty ordered a pair of these clamps, and let me say that they are excellent. Even clamping pressure, large jaws, and a neat little plastic "foot" at the end that flips down to hold the clamp securly on a flat surface. While not as expensive, strong or heavy as bessey's famous "k-body" clamps, these will do an excellent job as hold-down clamps for securing workpeices to benches while routing, sanding, cutting bisucits and the like. While most will say that a quick grip is fine for this, I would reply that for a few dollars more, you get so much more. These work excellent as assembly clamps, too. There glue-resistant surface and high pressure makes them great for truing doors, and glue-ups of small panels. While these would most likely not cut it for a professional woodwooker or cabinet maker, for the home shop owner, they are great deals for the price.

Clamps Review Excellent at the price
This wonderful little grinder is amazingly powerful. It doesn't overheat or bog down on even tough jobs like grinding down high spots in concrete. I've owned mine for three years now, have used it a lot and have been perfectly satisfied.

A little safety warning. Grinders are extremely dangerous power tools because of the exposed very high speed spinning grinding wheel, and because of the great torque force when the wheel meets resistance. I was grinding through some angle iron when the wheel caught the material, ripping the tool out of my hands. I wasn't wearing gloves, was too lazy to screw in the side handle which would have given me a better grip, and was wearing shorts. My right knee was ripped open. I have a great looking ragged scar that took months to heal. On another occasion, when grinding concrete, I stood up and relaxed, and the still spinning wheel cut my left hand to the bone, barely missing a tendon. When using grinding or cutting tools, ALWAYS have solid footing, wear protective clothing, use the side handle or other safety devices if available, and try to stay alert. Duh!

In summary, this is a great tool. It has an excellent two position side handle. The switch has a constant-on option to allow full use of both hands. The gear case is metal and the housing is high impact plastic. It's powerful, well built, well designed, and unbelievably inexpensive. If it was stolen, I'd replace it with the same.

Clamps Review easy to use
This thing is very easy to use. It is light, and the wheel turning acts like a gyroscope, steadying it. It cuts, grinds, sands and anything else you could think of without boging down. It was also very cheap. It is high quality and I expect it to last a long time.

Clamps Review Great Saw - Just Grab And Go
I bought this saw about nine months ago just for kicks since I already had the 24 volt drill, circular saw, and recip saw. I was more than impressed when I got it. It's lightweight and easy to carry, powerful, accurate, and has a good runtime (I quit counting at 75 2x4's ). I use mine for trimming and it is ideal for this. The saw overall is a good value with 2 batteries and a one hour charger. It won't replace a corded miter saw, but it comes pretty close.

Clamps Review Cordless Compound Miter Saw
I consider myself to be an advanced do it your selfer to let you know where I'm coming from. I've always wanted a compound miter saw, and have been putting it off for one reason or another. Recently I purchased a Bosch 24 volt drill/circular saw combo kit, and noticed this miter saw kit. One of the things I liked was that the batteries were interchangeable. It comes with two, plus the two from my kit, this would enable me to have an infinite supply of power. I checked the fence, and table for square, and they were good to go right out of the box, I was in shock. By looking at the manual, if you had to make an adjustment it didn't look that difficult. If anyone has ever set up a table saw, or radial arm saw you can appreciate this. I charged the batteries and immediately put it to work cutting 2" X 6" rafters for a 12' X 18' shed that I'm working on. Please note that you can't cut more than a 15 degree miter on a 2" X 6". I have to tell you that this saw has power. The fact that it is cordless is a non event. Actually it is an event, I was re-trimming out our bedroom. Since I was cordless I didn't interrupt my homes electrical system, and I didn't have to hear my wife complain about me messing up the TV. The trigger, and safety are comfortable to use. The dust collection system works good enough. The settings are accurate, and easy to read. The safety shield doesn't obstruct your view, and works smooth. The motor brake will stop on a dime, and give you nine cents change. I really like this saw, I feel it will meet or exceed all of your expectations.

Clamps Review A high-quality lamp for high-quality work
The snake-arm lamp produced by Danray Products is wonderful. Unlike comparable products I've used in the past, it has a strong clamp that does not work loose, it has a strong but flexible arm that stays where you want it, and it has a lamp that focuses a strong light on whatever work you're doing.

I think so much of this item that I now own two of them.

Clamps Review Great Snake-Arm Lamp
The Danray snake-arm lamp is easy to install and puts light where you want it. A lot of light. And the snake-arm feature has just the right amount of stiffness. It stays in place once you move to where you want it, yet it's easy to reposition. The lamp is perfect for any kind of work bench or studio.

Clamps Review An Absolute Must Have!
Due to the smalish size of the Hitachi saw bed and fence, this vice clamp is a must, not only for cutting accuracy, but also for safety. There is a slight potential for kick-back when cutting wide material with the sliding-mitre saw so you definitely want your 'holding hand' out of the way! The assembly is a definite must for keeping the work lined up with the saw fence once you've started the cut, especially with wide material and/or the greater mitre/bevel degree settings.

Clamps Review What a tool for the Price
This tool looks like and operates like the top of the line lifter sold by Rockler. It is great for us po folk.

Clamps Review If you want to make a router a tool, you need this
I have a Porter Cable 690 with the three optional handles: plunge, fixed and D..... nothing works as well as this. Simply attaching it to the bottom of a board doesn't work. The 'precision' of twisting the 690, then locking it in does not compare in the slightest with making repeatable 1/125" adjustments!

After making my first long cut, the lift seemed to shift upward, ruining my dado cut! I could not believe it! A few hours later of investigation, I realized it was not this lift, but the 1/4" bit was moving in the collet!
If you own a router, and do any precision work, get this product! Seriously! I teetered back and forth for months, ruining many projects.

I do recommend making your own table and fence however. It was easy, rewarding and likely a higher precision product at any price (mine cost $15 for a discarded office cubicle desk plank)

The savings of making your own table will justify buying an air filter (like I did today)

Thank you to Amazon for allowing us to write these reviews. It is only my 2nd one to write. Our family bases a large value on reviews and this product deserves my accolades.

Clamps Review The Better Clamp
This is a nice simple piece of critical equipment. If it didn't work properly, it could cause a lot of hassle (air gaps / hoses coming off). The two wires fit easily over the end of the hose and seated snuggly on each side of the hose groove and then clamped up nice with just a phillips screwdriver. The wires strattle the ribbing on the hose, creating a nice tight fit. I put on several of these wire clamps without one problem, air leak or lose hose.

The steel band clamps just did not stack up. They did not hold as well, or go on as easy (stripped the threads). Go with the wire clamps.

Clamps Review Big difference
I didn't figure that there was much of a differnce between hose clamps. I used both - steel band clamps and wire band clamps- with my ribbed hose for dust collection. The wire band clamps were easier to put on, held better, seated well, and stayed on.
