A Strong Grip
Big differenceI didn't figure that there was much of a differnce between hose clamps. I used both - steel band clamps and wire band clamps- with my ribbed hose for dust collection. The wire band clamps were easier to put on, held better, seated well, and stayed on.

Little clamps do monster jobI've been a builder for 40 years and started using the clamps with my Dad, who was also a builder in New England. With the proliferation of speed squares it seems today's generation of carpenters has forgotten how to use a framing square. These clamps without a doubt are one of the handiest items around for laying out stair stringers and rafters (common, hip and valley). For common rafters one clamp goes on the run side of the framing square (12 inches)and the other clamp goes on the rise side, whatever the rise is 5, 8, 12 inches. Mark off the plumb line for the exterior wall and mark and move the square times the number of feet of run (1/2 the total span). The last plumb line is the center of the ridge. Back off 3/4 of an inch and you have the perfect pattern to cut the rest of your rafters. The three S's short, sweet and simple. They work great for stair layouts also. A great tool and buy for the price.

Best wood clamps. Useful for gluing etc. These clamps have been around for ever. Any good woodworking shop has a pile of them. Get them in pairs at a minimum and get a variety of sizes you won't be sorry. They last a lifetime and more.
Oh yeah the other dimension you need to know is the distance from the tip to the middle spindle on this clamp is 4 inches
Quality clamp. How much can you say? This is a quality clamp. Well machined screws, heavy duty handles, finely made. Great clamping control... from real power to a delicate hold.
I especially like the size 0 for use with jigs, cross cut sled, and my Incra router system.

Jorgensen 2-in-1 ClampsI think these are the best "one-hand" clamps going because they have the most springiness. All the others are too stiff and do not allow you to easily adjust the clamping pressure. I have purchased many different types and this is the one I will continue to buy.
Jorgensen 36" Bar Clamp \ SpreaderI personally love this item. For the price compared to the quick grip. You can't go wrong. I have purchased five of these clamps already and I'am looking to buy more. They are simple to use. The conversion to a sreader is a snap to do. The handle is a perfect fit for large or small hands. This one clamp nobody should be without.

Great little clamp with lots of powerI have had this clamp for a while and I use it all the time for securing boards while routing, clamping on guides and jigs as well as temporary faces on my table saw fence. It is a great size and has plenty of holding power to fit most needs.
This clamp is easier to carry around and use when compared with the heavy duty version.

have plentyOne of the essentials when setting up a shop. You need multiples of all sizes. The Jorgensen along with the Pony pipe clamps are my favorites. They are easy to set up and use, they hold the piece tight and with the rubber pads they don't mar the wood. They also make a 24" and above with a ratcheting system (very nice). You can't go wrong with Jorgensen.

Bigger is BetterI would just recommend that if you are considering buying this to consider the 24 or 36 inch versions instead. I purchased this along with the others, and then realized that if I have one of the larger clamps that I have no need for the 12" clamp.
The larger clamps can do the same job as this one plus more.
Also if you buy only one the wood will not be sucured to the table.

Jorgensen bar clampsThese clamps are the best in the business. They allow you to use as much force as you need for any application. Other bar clamps handles don't allow as much torque when tightening. This is good if you don't have as much strength in your arms as you need. The bar style clamp is superior over the pipe clamp as well, because the pipe will eventually start to bend and the clamping pressure won't be even. This style bar clamp is also superior because the bar can be readily cleaned of glue. The Bessie style clamp has ridges that are difficult at best ti clean he glue from. These clamps can be heavy, but they are heavy duty and will therefore last a lifetime.
The Best ClampJorgensen I-bar clamps are the proverbial "be all and end all" when it comes to wood working clamps. They last forever and are extremely powerful. In comparison to Bessey (the other major manufacturer of woodworking clamps) I prefer Jorgensen for the following reasons:
1. Jorgensen's crank allows you to get more force on an object than Bessey's handl.
2. The I bar is smooth (as opposed to the Bessey which has raised bumps which are part of its locking mechanism). This makes it much easier to clean off glue which will inevitabley get on the clamp.
3. The Jorgensen clamp is much stronger than the the Bessey; I've seen numerous k -body clamps with cracked jaws.

It should be noted that one should take caution when gluing with the Jorgensen clamps; if the wood and glue come in contact with the bar, this will cause the wood to stain. Always keep the wood off of the bar. This is not a concern with the Bessey, which uses an aluminum bar. This is the only regard in which I believe that the Bessey clamps have it over the Jorgensens.

Big bad clamps!!I love these clamps. The steel construction is very sturdy, and heavy! When used with the Mastadon pads, they are just perfect to clamp together bookcases, cabinets and other wood projects. I especially like the large crank handles, which provides excellent feedback to the hand on the amount of pressure being applied to the work pieces. If you need to apply a lot of clamping pressure on your project, you can't beat this heavy-duty clamps!
Jorgensen I-Bar ClampsThe I-Bar Clamps from Jorgensen are a step up from the traditional 'pipe clamp' that are very common. My first purchase of the 7200 series clamps was for a large kitchen that I was going to build. I noticed immediately that the I-Bar clamps were very heavy, twice as much as my usual pipe clamps. The heads and armature that tightens the body down on the material needing to be clamped were 30% larger and the I-Bar did not flex under pressure. I used fewer clamps and this allowed for more doors/panels to be glued up based upon the traditional pipe clamps that I had been using. I found the clamps to be very rugged, durable, easy to use, large enough to handle any situation outside the shop, and affordable. These clamps will be replacing any others that I have in my shop.

LAMPS PLUS Clamp-On Desk LampPrompt shipment, no damage package, product is excellant quality. Made a mistake in rating my experience with LAMPS PLUS and couldn't reverse my action (hit the enter key rather than backspace)...
good deal for this particular typeI've seen this kind of lamp advertised on office supplies online stores and they go anywhere from 2x to 3x the price of this lamp. This makes the lamp a good deal for this particular type. I've found cheaper lamps for about $20, but the arm on those cheapos doesn't stay in its intended position and the knobs don't do anything. The build on this lamp appears to be of good quality. Almost all parts are made of steel or some other metal. I was going to purchase this off of amazon, but I found out that there is a Lamps Plus store near where I live so I went there in person to check it out. The arm on the display model worked rather well and so does the one I have now. The main downside I've seen so far is that you can only get this in white. One last thing is that the one I purchased included both the circular fluorescent and incadescent bulbs.

Brutus and Popey.- The drill can break your wrist and the sawzall is so unbelievably smooth that you can't believe it is actualy cutting. Lifetime warranty too, I love Milwaukee, and definately not for it's beer.
Excellent tool package, a MUST!I bought this package for my husband and with it he has removed all the ceiling joists in our home, put up 16' collarties using 3/4" drill holes from with the drill, removed two walls, and more to come! This combination is an excellent two-some for the price. He looks forward to each opportunity to use the tools. The brand speaks for itself and the price can't be beaten.
I wish I could say the same for the steel band clamps. I tried them first, and stripped more than I put on. Go with the wire clamps, and do it right the first time!
