I've handled a lot of handles in my years but this handle handles better than most other handles handle. I think these are made in Maine. Nice.

I couldn't believe it when two of these files arrived this morning at 11:00 am. The order was placed about 5:00 pm yesterday and had to be shipped to me in OH from MI. This MI supplier got my items to me much quicker than I expected. Excellent job and kudos to the guys pulling/shipping orders!

My girlfriend uses them to trim mold flash off her miniatures. She says they work great for that task. The only thing she didn't like was they were oily when they arrived. I don't think they can ship any other way to prevent corrosion.

These files are just the right size and type for removing `flash' and mold lines off of plastic and soft metal hobby miniatures and models. And they come in all the shapes and contours to smooth out just about any work piece. However, they do manage to collect quite a bit of filed plastic & metal dust in their grooves. I recommend a good wire brush as a cleaning accessory.

This set's also a pretty good value. I've seen other hobby file sets that cost just as much or more than this one, and have only six or eight files.

Stainless kicks butt on sureform. The stanley is great for wood, but rusts like a S.O.B when used with drywall. the Marshalltown rasp works great. I got the one with the guides, one problem with that is that it can be hard to trim a piece that is hung. Marshaltown rocks professional quality, American made tools

I searched the web for stainless steel safety wire and it was hard to find. Imagine my surprise when it showed up on Amazon. This product is the real thing - genuine racing/aviation stuff.

I've looked at this product and other microplane products and find the descriptions inadequate: dimensions: length, radii, etc. Some products are listed as 6 Round, 8 Round, etc. What's 6 Round? What's snap-in? Amazon needs to improve this.

These things should be considered power tools. They remove stock at least 10x as fast as a $40 traditional cabinet rasp. They do get dull after awhile but a dull Microplane is still better than a rasp. If you are working with wood that tends to split when using a spoke shave these are the perfect alternative. They cut nearly as fast, maybe faster, and will not split the grain. The only draw back is that you don't get the smooth cut of the Spoke shave but this is fairly quickly alleviated by sanding.
I love these things and have 5 different types in my shop. My Wife also uses one in the Kitchen in stead of a zester or grater. They are stainless steel so you can put them in the dishwasher if you want.

Not particularly high quality - about what you'd expect for the low price.

The files themselves in this set are perfectly fine and probably servicable for light household or handyman use. The handles, however, are a complete and utter joke. They can't be firmly attached to the files, and couldn't possibly be used to hold the files for any kind of work. Fisher-Price has more useful tools.

this set is very versatile. i also liked the variety of of the files that came with it.

I know ...[nothing] about tools. I bought this set on the recommendation of someone who knows about tools. I bought the set for one reason - I'm a harp player, I had a new set of custom built strings made and I needed to enlarge a few of the string holes in the soundboard. I didn't want to use an electric drill and the person I asked recommended this for enlarging the hole slightly.

...[Big mistake]! 1/2 way through the job the end of the triangular file I was using broke off inside the soundboard. It took almost an hour to get the piece out. I'm just glad the process of removal didn't trash my harp!

I have no idea what I'm going to use - but I certainly won't be buying an X-Acto set again!
