Hammers Review Demo: Why not have a hammer with a skull and crossbones?
I was working at a school renovation project that was in it's first phase as a summer laborer for a small private company. We had ripped out a stage about 30 x 15' the day before. Today it was on to the 12 inch block wall standing 15 feet high, same depth as the stage. Every chance I could get I was hacking away with my 'Stick, as I did all summer, having bought the Death Stick my first week on the job. I remember picking it out, I was standing in front of all the hammers at the local hardware store, and all the sudden the Death stick's curved handle caught my eye, it was perfect, they had told me I was going to be doing demo, why not have a hammer with a skull and crossbones on it, noone's gonna get in my way. As I hacking at the block, my super says to me, "You really like that 'Death Hatchet' thing you got there don't you." I said "Hell yeah I do, this thing hits like a sledge, and hasn't let me down yet." I loved bangin' walls in with this thing, especially when I had to haul out sheet rock, I got to wail on it so it would fit my cart. I didn't drive many nails with it, as I wasn't a carpenter, but you can be sure if a saw horse was getting loose I was out there nailin' it tight with my "Death Hatchet" during lunch. If you want a real hammer, get a Death Stick, just watch your thumb.

Hammers Review Good hammer holder
This is one helluva hammer holder. I has a large top opening that allows my hammer to enter easily. I have gone through many hammer holders in my years of construction. This one however has held up for the past year trough our great Candian winter and all. A product deserving of the DeWalt name.

Hammers Review This is powerful stuff!
I had just installed a brand new kitchen sink; what can I say? I could not have done it so fast without this kit.

To remove the old sink, if I were doing it the old way, I would have used a chisel and a hammer and manuallly chip the cement away. With this kit, all I need was insert an SDS 1.5 inch wide chisel and dadada... it broke the cement around the tiles like breaking crackers, and all I need was exsert a little body weight to press it again the surface! I was able to remove the cement over the sink, and lift the sink in 30 minutes.

90 percent of my tools are cordless, and I only use 2 brands: Dewalt and Milwaukee. Dewalt's battery seems to last longer on a single charge, and retain power longer when not in use. Take this kit's battery for instance, it kept going without any sign of losing power through out the time I was using it, yet the battery was last charged over a week ago.

I have never owned or operated a corded SDS hammer drill before, but for the power it is putting out, it should be very similar to the corded ones. I bought it for the chiseling function, and it is really working great for me. A powerful time-saver!

Hammers Review through hardened concrete like butter :)
well, okay, not that fast, but after drilling a couple of holes through a hardened concrete wall, very little wear on the carbide tip.

Hammers Review DEWALT 5/16" ROCK HARD carbide bits
Thank you TOOL CRIB for carrying these odd size SDS concrete bits, I have not been able to find them anywhere else. These bits are perfect for use with concrete screws, and they out last the one's that come with the screws by about 4 to 1 or better and they cut drilling time as well.

Hammers Review Beyond the call of duty
The DW540 1 1/2" SDS Max Rotary Hammer did everything that we needed it to do and very well at that. Using the 1/2" bit, we drilled holes into shelf rock all day long with ease. And when it came to hammering out some rock to get our forms in, it did that very well also and with power to spare. It doesn't replace an 80 pound jack hammer but for the smaller jobs, I don't think you could ask for a better tool. My only regret is that I didn't buy this tool sooner! Hammers Review Hole Drilling Machine
What would you call a drill that takes the abuse of drilling on a daily basis 5" holes in 3" or thicker cement? Then change out the bits and drill 1 1/2" holes through 6 inch thick poured walls? Not just one hole, but 8 of them. Then switch to the chisel bit and hammer the hole out to run pipe through. That's what kind of daily use our 'Big Boy' gets. Cutting those cement cores out, drilling, hammering - this tool will do for most light industrial applications. Plus, DeWalt has it ergonomically designed so that you can use it without beating yourself to death. All in all, one of the most useful tools in my inventory.
