Hammers Review Irritatingly Oversimplified
I wouldn't recommend this product because the guide that comes with it is very general and only provides instructions for hanging a small picture or mirror. It does not tell you what you need to know about hanging a medium or large picture, for example, how to choose the proper hooks and anchors depending upon wall type.

Hammers Review I love these tools!
This is a great kit for hanging pictures and mirrors. I recently moved and because I already had this kit, I had everything I needed to hang up all of my wall art. The handle on the hammer and the screwdriver really make a difference. They are just as good as those ugly tools your dad has, but they feel better in your hand and they look nicer. I also really like the mini-level inside of the big level - and it's great that they are magnetic. I have a mirror in a metal frame and it made it very easy to make sure it was hanging straight, since it stuck to the frame.

Hammers Review Next Step Up
My Milwaukee hammer-drill was fine for green concrete and concrete block, but I had to get something less frustrating when I had to drill granite fieldstone. I got fed up with the Jacobs chuck loosening even when I tightened it with 10" visegrips locked on the chuck key. I ran down to Home Depot to get this, and I must say it was a big improvement if only for the SDS+ chuck. The SDS+ bits cost more but they seem to be better made. Also the rotary hammer puts more impact force into the bit. This model of the Hitachi has only drill and hammer-drill; no chipping mode. Despite the rating of 15/16", the maximum hole is less than 1/2" in hardened concrete or granite. Otherwise, it does as good of a job as any of the other brands and costs less. I have some jobs coming up that will require a bigger beast, and I plan to get one of the spline-drive big Hitachis for that.

Hammers Review This rotary hammer performs well and is priced right.
We currently own 12 Hitachi rotary hammers and have been very pleased with them. We have tried all other brands and we now choose Hitachi exclusively. We really like the price /performance of the DH38YE and the DH24PB.

Hammers Review Reliable Hammer Drill
I have had my Makita 2040 for close to 10 years. I drill concrete for anchors, bore holes for electric wire conduit etc. in concrete and drill safes many times a year. Some with hardplate and some not. I have been extremely satisfied with this hammer drill until today. While drilling a safe the bit caught and the hammer drill was pulled out of my hands. When I gained control again, it wouldn't work and when I squeezed the trigger it tried to turn and flames shot out the rear vents.
I have used this hammer drill heavy for years so I am not too disappointed that I have to buy another one.

Hammers Review Like most compromise tools...
I bought this so I'd have both a corded drill with a 1/2" chuck as well as a hammer drill. As most tools that are a compromise/combo, they don't neccessarily do everything well.
For what I bought it for, the combo tool, it should get 5 stars. However, it you are looking solely for a large capacity drill or a hammer drill, look elsewhere. As a drill, it works just fine, it's just rather large and bulky. As a hammer drill, it's not as burly as the more dedicated units. It does do very well through soft materials like cinderblock and clay brick even up to 1/2" holes, but it flounders in concrete as small as 3/8".

If you are like me and just wanted something that would be used every once in a while when that odd need showed up, this is a great tool. If you are looking for a dedicated hammer drill, look elsewhere.

Know you needs before buying.

    Hammers Review EXCELLENT PRICE
This is an excellent bargain. For the money you will be very pleased.Weather you are a seasoned carpenter, tradesman or a weekend warrior you will appreciate the value in this mallet. I've been using mine in my shop and on the job for years. It has a few scars but, dont we all?I do wipe it down with armor all every now and then just to keep the rubber from drying out and cracking so far so good.Dont be afraid of this one it's a great tool and a sweet price to boot

Hammers Review A good item to have on hand
What can I say. This tool is so useful for so many things. I guess any where you need to apply force and don't want to damage your goods is a good place to start. I use mine with my cornerbead crimper to set corner bead. (I also screw it off and tape it so it never cracks.)They work great for cabinet and sheving assembly. They are a must for installing "ready frame " type steel door jambs. The're great for adjusting counter tops. And on and on . I would say the list of usefulness is limited only by your imagination.

      Hammers Review Power Drain
While I liked the torque offered by this tool; I am compelled to warn people of its 2 most frustrating flaws.
      1) The batteries discharge in two days with no use- just sitting in the case.
      2) It takes hours for them to recharge.
If you are using this tool around your house you will probably like it, but if you are trying to make a living with it, I strongly recommend that you look somewhere else.

Hammers Review Not Pro Quality, But Definately Good
Justa quickie, since Amazon says out of stock:

I went to HD looking for a cordless set. Thought $250 would do it, and I was hoping for $180-200.

There was a display on the floor with this set. $100. Sold.

I've since picked up a new set of batteries as long work around the house and property tends to leave you waiting for a recharge. However, for convenience, ease and simplicity, this is it. No cords. No bringing tons of crap to the site. Just grab a cordless and go.

Well worth $100. Worth more to you? That would depend on your budget. Is it worth a $300 savings over a Rigid or Makita? I think so.

Hammers Review Good but not the best
I use this hammer drill to place expansion bolts in stone for rock climbers. My experience in hard sandstone is that the tool will drill around 10 holes with a new bit, 3/8" by 4" deep before needing a recharge. It's light and fast and seems to be fairly durable, a big improvement over the old Bulldog. But when it comes to real power in a cordless hammer drill think Hilti as in model TE5. I used one of those a while back and although a bit heavier this thing drilled 15 holes and was still going strong when I had to quit.

        Hammers Review Great drill
Great drill, I really like the ease with with the chuck can be locked and unlocked. They really are as tough as they say. I managed to drop mine off a 3 story tall scaffold onto concrete today and the drill survived without anything other than cosmetic scuffs to show for it. The battery wasn't so lucky though, there's small crack where the two halves of the battery screw together, and it looks like one of the cells may have been damaged(it actually still works, but this is an unsafe condition, since it's possible that the cell was ruptured or shorted and can explode, maybe even fry your charger, etc). The Bosch Provantage rep said they only cover drops up to 1 story high, but I didn't think the batteries were even covered against accidental drops, so kudos there. The only reason I'm taking a point off 5 stars is that the top speed of the drill could be a little higher, it tops out at 1500 rpm, but 2000-2500 would make drilling through poured concrete for tapcons much faster.

Hammers Review Bosch 18 volt drill
Bosch does it again. This drill is a bit heavy, but it is 18 volt. No one could ask more from a cordless drill. The run-time is great. This is an example of why I keep coming back to Bosch.
