A good welder for the moneyI would recommend it. Not bad for 100 dollars, plus it plugs into a regular socket and it's easy to carry. Remember it's a 100 dollar welder, so you're not going to fabricate a building but, you can do some little jobs quite well. Good service from them also.

Great wood-handled hammerI like wood handles on hammers, and the "ax handle" is especially easy to grip. This one is the baby brother of my old framimg hammer, so it has a comfortable feel. The handle is shorter than I'm used to, and the finish was a little rough. In spite of that, I still give this hammer high marks. I own two of them.

Great Hammer, but....that cool little eagle design embedded in the head fell off immediately. Why did DEAD ON tools even bother. I LOVE the balance and feel of this hammer though. 21 oz is a perfect weight. I'd buy this hammer again even if the crappy logo fell off again.

Great HammerI am a carpenter and decided to buy this hammer and put away my old estwings. I've had it for a month now and I can tell you this, I really like the graphite handle. Its comfortable and the hammer really smacks the nails in. One hit set. Ive used dalluge and stiletto titanium hammers and found this hammer to feel much more tough than those light titanium beaters. The handle on this thing is massive and fits large hands well. The only thing I didnt like is the face of the hammer is kindof concave and not perfectly flat. Great buy indeed. The next one will be titanium.

Great Ripping BladeI own about 18 different blades for my Unisaw includeing three Forrest blades, but in an era where the mantality of "one blade for any job" rules. It is nice to find a quality dedicated rip blade. While it won't leave as smooth an edge as say the woodworker II, you can feed it allot faster. If you've never ripped with a flat grind blade, you're missing out.

Good but not the bestI bought one of these a couple of years ago. Before that I had the Hitaci DH38YE I also had the Bosch 1 1/2" spline hammer. I have to be honest. The Bosch is a better tool. It just hits harder. It also runs cooler. The Dewalt isn't a bad tool. It's just that there are better hammers on the market. I sold all of them and got an SDS max hammer. It blows spline away. It is quickly replacing spline as the top rotary hammer offering. It is a tighter mechamism and transfers more power to the bit. this means faster drilling speeds and less vibration to your hands.

Shank differencesThis Dewalt Model has a spline shank chuck. To use the accessories that are shown ie; sds plus bits, calls for an adapter that changes from spline to sds plus. This adapter does not come with hammer drill and must be purchased separately. Anyone buying the sds plus bits as shown will be quite upset when they can't use them right away. There are a number of adapters available: spline to max, & spline to a 1/4-20 threaded end to accept a hammer drill chuck for round type shanks. With these as part of the total kit, you have a very good hammer drill. You have a very good hammer drill if you choose to use only spline shank bits, also.

Drill those holesI use this bit when my core bit can't get through due to the depth of the cut or the type of material (rough aggregate instead of smoother cement). For what the tool is designed to do - it does very well. The cutter head holds it edge and cleans up nicely. I've made about 100 holes with the bit I use now and haven't had to sharpen it. Does a nice job.

Core those holesI need to drill five inch round holes in solid cement. For a dry drill, this works quite well. It should be stated somewhere that this bit does require both the shank and centering bit, also, so there's an extra $75 or so. Also, this bit cannot do well in aggregate. Smooth cement and concrete it does quite nicely in, though. When you get to the maximum depth (about 3 inches) then pull the bit out and chisel out the initial cut, then you can finish drilling. I've gotten 20 holes out of it without resharpening yet.

DW999K-2It's great to finally have an 18-volt version available from DeWalt. Now I don't have to drag a 50' extension cord behind me every time I need to install Tapcon fasteners or lag shields to mount enclosures or conduit straps. I had considered the DeWalt DW004 24-volt hammer but didn't care for the extra bulk or the idea of having to change to another battery system, primarily because I already have and use a collection of other DeWalt 18-volt tools. The DW999 is fast and does hit surprisingly hard, even harder than the Bosch 24-volt, which I do not own but have had the opportunity to use frequently in the past. It does feel slightly nose heavy and unbalanced, with or without the battery installed, compared to the older corded Bosch 11212VSR (predecessor of the Bosch 11224VSR) that I'm used to. This means you need to apply a little more forearm when using a Condrive tool for fastening or when reaching out to drill one- handed from a ladder or platform. Speaking for myself, in this type of work situation, the D-handle as this tool has, is the only way to go. The rotation-only feature does add versatility and comes in handy for using an SDS to straight (geared) chuck adapter to drill wood or light metal, but a stop-rotation impact only feature would also have been nice to allow for light use of a scaling chisel to smooth out seams and remove slag on poured concrete walls for mounting electrical boxes or conduits. Because it is reversible though, my primary field-use for this tool is for installing 3/16" and " Tapcon fasteners, " to 3/8" conical masonry anchors and 3/8" to " lag shields with a maximum hole size of 5/8". Battery life for this type of work has been better than expected but it's still a good thing that the kit includes two XR packs because you will definitely need them both for any type of extended use. If you need to use it on the go a lot, the vehicle charger may also be a good investment. The plastic storage case interior is a little small and doesn't have much room to store bits, attachments or boxes of fasteners, so you'll need to allocate more storage space in your already overcrowded service vehicle for these items. Overall, I am pleased with the tools performance and even with the high price, which I feel is a lot for an SDS hammer with a 7/8" capacity rating, it has proven itself to be an asset, as most cordless tools are, through time saved and convenience. I would recommend it for individuals who routinely install light to medium duty small diameter fasteners and need to do this type of work in job site areas where power is either difficult to obtain or unavailable.
Two more unrelated productivity tools I would like to see DeWalt make available for my service truck are an 18-volt " heavy duty right-angle (RAD) drill similar to Milwaukee's 3109-21 and a 18-volt fluorescent area work light similar to Bosch's 3450K.
