Hammers Review Horrible direction shifter
The switch to change the direction of the drill is flaky to say the least. It barely works. I intend to replace this drill soon.

Hammers Review BUYER BEWARE
SDS bits are for chiseling and masonry and require and SDS chuck (bit holder). Regular wood or metal drilling bits use a standard chuck. The description says you can easily select between hammering, chiseling, or drill only mode but the standard drilling chuck is not included with this drill. I confirmed with Dewalt that this model only comes with the SDS chuck, so you will not be able to use wood or metal bits without a separate adapter.

Hammers Review They didn't work.
I bought three of these bits to use with my Milwaukee 3/8" hammer drill to drill a drainage hole in my 11" thick concrete and mortar brick garage wall. It took about 5 minutes to drill a hole about 5 inches into wall and the bit wouldn't go any farther. Thinking I may have dulled the bit I used the next two bits and tried for another 10 minutes and couldn't penetrate any further. I didn't get any shavings from rebar or anything, just no penetration. Thinking I hit a bluestone I gave up. My neighbor saw I was having a problem and I asked him if he had a drill and a long bit that he could try. He went through my hole and drilled another 6 inches inches into the wall in about 3 minutes.

Hammers Review Poorly finished and packaged
These are far, far from "ready for use" as described above. The cutting edges look like they were made by someone who really didn't care. These will take a lot longer than planned for refinishing before use. I thought "Made in Sheffield England" was supposed to be a statement of quality. I think they should start taking lessons from the Chinese. I also ordered separate 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" chisels which were even worse, with both having a chip on the cutting edge. I'll be reviewing those separately and rating them even lower.

This set is packaged in a flimsy lightweight cardboard box with 3 equally flimsy cardboard dividers between the 6 chisels. It is a joke. The chisel handles were all a little roughed-up, but no damage to the cutting edges.

Hammers Review Sure seems like a good idea...
This hammer sure seems like it's a great idea. Pick it up and it feels relatively light. Give it a swing and you can definitely feel that much of the weight is concentrated in the head; it swings like a much heavier hammer. In practice, I found that the hammer didn't live up to its promise, however. First task: hammering nails through a metal post cap to attach a replacement 4x4 post to a beam. After a few swings, I was really starting to like the hammer! Then, as inevitably happens, I got distracted and hit the bracket more than the nail. The hard, square edge of the hammer's head left a very visible crease in the metal bracket. Ouch! The round head of a conventional hammer would have left a much less noticable dent... Second task: attaching joist hangers to the framing for a ground-level deck. This is another task where, apparently, the weight-forward hammer doesn't shine. The problem this time is that the face of the hammer is very close to the handle, making it difficult to hammer around obstructions (e.g. fingers/clamps/jigs holding joist hanger in place). With a conventional hammer, there's a bit of distance between the face and the handle which makes it easier to nail in obstructed areas. In the end, I find myself reaching for my conventional 21oz hammer, while the fancy new hammer sits idle in the toolbox...

Hammers Review review of 3850 drill
Sorry that this is not a review of this drill but a spot on Bosch's good name. I have a 3850 18 volt drill that has had low use in 2 years and both batteries are shot. I wrote to Bosch about this and they returned my message thanking me for my interest in Bosch tools. I do not think that was what I wanted to hear. This is the 3 rd Bosch battery drill I have owned and first that is NO GOOD! I have a 9.6 that the orginal batteries lasted about 10 years and it is now on second set that will out perform the 18 V by about 3 to one. I had a 7.2 V that outlasted the availabilty of new batteries. It was a great tool that got loads of use. I have several other Bosch tools but this piece of junk just might end my buying any more of these tools at all. Take hede when considering their tools.

Hammers Review Great hammerdrill except for one crucial design flaw
I was at first very happy with this hammerdrill. It's well built and comes with a case & two batteries. It also has a little clip on the handle to hold a screwdriver bit - brilliant. But when I started to drill into concrete the problems began. It drilled the holes as well as the Milwaukee I had borrowed from a friend, but apparently it has a design flaw that allows concrete dust to get inside and cause the speed control mechanism to get stuck. So when I tried to switch between the two speed settings, I wasn't able to push the switch "all the way" in either direction. That meant the chuck couldn't "get in gear" which means the motor turns but the chuck doesn't. So now the drill is totally useless. It's really too bad because I know Bosch makes great tools...

Hammers Review How about the rest of the drill bit?
I, too, purchased this item and found out it did not come with a shank. I had a used spline shank welded on to this new bit. The weld broke because the bit was hardedned steel and "required special welding". How about selling a drill bit with the shank attached?

Hammers Review not the bargen i thought
the add does not show the optional spline or sds drive shankes needed for this tool the're expensive! now i have to weld a broken spline shank i saved ,not everyone can do this.i,m not happy i suggest you change the add

    Hammers Review Impact drill NOT!!!
Well you get what you pay for! If you want to buy something that looks like an impact drill for filling up the shelf then this is a good buy for you. This drill is made in China and comes with pieces and springs that I still don't know what to do with. There is absolutely NO instructions or documentation with this tool. The buttons that are supposed to switch between drill and hammer do not work. This tool is not a bargain it is a complete waste of money. Now I have to buy a real drill Pass on this one.
