Knives Review Great Knife by Michael
My parents bought this knife for me for my birthday and this is the coolest knife ever. This knife does everything, I think it is great. There are so many different tools I can do anything with this knife.

Knives Review Great for anyone
I am a 20 yr old female college student and this pocket knife is the only one i would ever want. Even though it has a lot of tools and i personally might not use all of them, it's great to know that i have them just in case, and a peace of mind is priceless. I don't mind the size at all because it'll fit into any of my bags, and i usually carry around a messenger bag or my backpack. The pen is awesome, but i'd just like to know if they sell refills!

Knives Review Often useful. Always reliable.
All the tools are extremely reliable. I have cut wood with the wood saw and metal with the metal saw. The various screwdrivers have served me well without shearing. The scissors are just excellent. The tools are diverse enough that this knife often comes in handy.

This is my third champion now (1 loss/theft, 1 surrendered at Bangkok airport because I was so sick I forgot to put it in my checked luggage), and this latest model seems to have noteworthy improvements over its predecessors. There are useful and effective pliers, and the tiny screwdriver in the corkscrew that used to be available seperately now comes with the knife. Also, some bright spark has included a pen and a pin; genius. Another addition is a tent peg puller and a few refinements to the other tools.

The overall feel of the tool is outstanding quality, and you can see why Victorinox have been leading the pack in this field for such a long time. I could not give anything less than five stars.

Knives Review The Trekker Is First Rate

This was my second Swiss Army Knife purchase. I also purchased the Fieldmaster. I don't like the Leatherman or Swisstool type utility gadgets, so I took a chance and bought this one.

The quality of the blade is first rate, and especially the sawblade. I have found uniform and excellent blade quality in all the Victorinox knives. You are not going to have problems cutting smaller tree branches, etc...with this one. The locking blade is solid, and with a little practice you will have no problems operating it with one hand. The "action" gets smoother the more you use it and now after working it for several days it comes open with very little effort. It is sharp enough to cut a piece of paper without any trouble. I can definitely see quite a few uses around the house for this knife. It doesn't have scissors, but I can live without that.

I don't think this is the right knife to be carrying around in your pocket though. It's just too big to be comfortable. I can envision it in my backpack or glove compartment, or in the kitchen drawer. The only thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars is the plastic grip material. It doesn't feel to solid and I can see it chipping or cracking over time. Other than that, a very good blade with almost no wiggle that could stand some heavy duty torque if you are trying to cut something tough.

Knives Review Excellent blade and few things more
I originally needed a bottle opener and a can opener to open all the soda pop at parties, but my roommate recommended that I get a swiss army knife. This black pocket knife is extremely versatile as well as aesthetically pleasing (definitely more so than the red Swiss Army knives). I wouldn't exactly consider this a one-hand knife, as the main blade is not easy to open with one hand (though it is possible with a pushing flick of the thumb). The main blade is great for everything - I've used it from cutting fruit to opening bags.

The saw is less useful indoors - I've only cut a pen in half with it, but it makes the knife a lot more interesting. As my girlfriend puts it, "Everyone guy who walks into your room fondles that knife."

Overall, high-quality product for an excellent price.

Knives Review A versatile if slightly larger SAK
I love the locking blade, and I love how it can be opened with one hand (the other is usually whatever it is you need to cut, right?). I also love the fact that the flat-head screwdriver locks when it's open, saving your hand from the accidental snap-pinch you can get while using it on other models. The weight and feel of this knife are pefect too. The only downside is it's slightly larger proportions. This is longer than the 3 1/2" models, and it makes a difference. If you're planning on carrying this in your pocket, it needs to be one of the only things in there. Still, if your lifestyle demands a slightly more rugged SAK than usual, this is a great choice.

Knives Review Best pocket tool on the planet
The Swiss Army Cybertool 41 is the ultimate in key-chain pocket tools that WILL get used daily. While heavier and slightly larger than the Cybertool 29 or a "regular" Victorinox knife, the addition of the pliers and scissors alone make the Cybertool 41 worth the extra bulge in purse or pocket. For folks thinking of buying this tool: this is basically a Handyman knife with the addition of a replaceable bit screwdriver, a set of 10 common bits (hex socket, Torx, Pozidrive, Phillips, flat), a pen, a pin and a mini (eye glasses) screwdriver. The additions to the Handyman make this tool the daily workhorse it is: there is very little you can't do with this tool in daily life.

If you need more than this knife offers, I'd say go to the toolbox and get the full-size single-purpose tool. A Leatherman might be bigger on pliers, but the Cybertool beats is in size and comfort of use.

A GREAT Christmas or birthday gift for best friends, girlfriends and wives!

Knives Review Handier than I expected!
I'm a geek, but you probably wouldn't pick me out in a lineup (not that I've been in a lineup, but...). Anyway, I must say that the Cybertool Pocket Knife really is as great as other people say. It's easy to use, and I find myself carrying it with me far more than any other tool I have, just because it is so verstile.

Knives Review Geeks must-have
Okay, I'm not the geek, my husband is, but I bought this knife for him months ago and he's not been to work without it yet. He is a software developer and does a bit of work with hardware as well. He says it's a great tool for anyone doing detail work with computers, eyeglasses or musical instruments. It has come in handy with (his glasses, obviously) and my flute. We've also found uses for it with kid's toys (getting those damned battery compartments open), cell phones, aquariums, baby monitors, stereo equipment, and as a handy-dandy package and letter opener. You don't need to be a geek to apprecaite all that!

Knives Review Excellent Knife
Double bladed, my only gripe is the blade's a tad short. Most manufacturers of great knives don't want to go through the trouble sharpening both edges, but SOG. The characteristics of this knife make it a good fighting knife, but a little on the smallish side. Take a look at the Cold Steel Voyager with a 5- or 6-inch blade for not a whole lot more money. Chances are you'll drop this one in a heartbeat.

Free shipping on knives would be great, too, but too many of these outfits want $7 or $8 to send you a $45 knife! I keep hoping free shipping will become the wave of the future in Internet sales. At least on smaller items.

Knives Review Awesome Knife
Great knife. I think it's skirting the lines of legality in my state because you can flip it open, but it's not a "gravity knife" -- it holds itself closed and it has a locking mechanism to hold the blade open, so it seems to fit within the letter of the law.

The "shark tooth" tip is a neat design idea that gives it a VERY sharp point, there are serrated edges towards the handle that help out if you're trying to cut through something like twine or wires, it has a belt clip if you're toting it around as a utility knife but is also small enough to easily fit within your pocket.

If you're looking for a good utility "buck knife" you might as well get something like this. The flipping action and one-finger lock disengage means you can easily use it one handed and it seems rugged enough for everyday use in the tool belt. No more dropping what you're doing so you can pry the blade out or safely close it, just a little wrist and thumb action will do it.

Edit:
I've had this knife for almost 2 years now and I still like it. I use it frequently (primarily for cutting open boxes from Amazon... *cough*) and can't get enough of the wrist action on it. It's so nice to be able to open and close it without having to pry the blade out 2-handed style like other utility knives. Can't say I can really comment on the whole "knife fighting" aspect other reviewers mention (don't do much knife fighting myself... you know... busy busy...) but as a simple utility knife, it's hard to beat. Still sharp, too.

Knives Review another SOG masterpiece
SOG's new pentagon elite folder is a great all around knife. As a martial artist and knife fighter i find the blade's wide spine very useful in a variety of different techniques. The arc-lock is strong and dependable and i found the more practice you devote to the opening mechanism the more efficient it performs.

these knives are ok. they don't last too long as they are only steel, not carbide. next time i would spend the xtra and get carbide ones. these knives go dull in just soft wood, as is expected from a steel knife. these delta knives are good for what they are.
go carbide.

Knives Review Leatherman gets it right!
The Squirt is not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot closer to being perfect than anything else I've tried. Of course, this only reflects my personal preferences.

Most people have handled a Leatherman Micra, so let's compare this to the Micra to get an idea of its size and shape. If you place the hinge end of both devices on a flat surface, the Squirt only reaches to the bottom of the Micra's opening end rivets. This makes it about 3/8" shorter than the Micra. The widths are so similar that they may as well be identical. The Squirt is a little thicker, though, and the difference is about 1/8".

The finish on the Squirt, both the anodized aluminum and the stainless components, is much better than that on the Micra. The anodized aluminum is really eye-catching, though I'm certain it will get nicked and scratched over time. Anodized finishes, however, do not peel like paint or plating. The metal edges of the Squirt (other than the knife blade) are more rounded, as are the ends of the tool when closed.

So how does it work? Very well. While it does not have all of the geegaws that some pocket multi-tools do, it has the ones I want. Plus, the quality of fit and finish for the tools is superior. None of the blades, including the pliers, wiggles a bit. Plus, all the blades fold out without having to open the pliers, a weakness with many small multi-tools. Let's look at the tools:

The pliers are something I MUST have. Some people prefer scissors (or both) and fortunately there is a scissors version of this unit called the S4. The blades are not identical on the S4, but they are pretty similar. The P4's pliers are a marvel. They are much longer, and significantly narrower, than the pliers on a Victorinox Bear Jaws. This makes them ideal for manipulating wire, reaching jumpers on a motherboard, and yanking things out of narrow places. They can function as tweezers, negating the need for the Micra's fold-out tweezers. They are also strong enough to do real work, like cutting heavy wire and turning moderately-sized nuts and bolts. The extra length gives them superior leverage. These pliers are also infinitely superior to the flimsy fold-out pliers found on many other multi-tools, particularly the Swiss Army Knives.

The knife blade is 1-5/8" when extended. The knife's shape is standard and there no serrations. Frankly, I hate serrations because I often use my pocket knife to open envelopes, something serrated blades do not do well.

The screwdrivers, file and awl fold out from opposite ends. This means that you have only a single blade on either side and at both ends of the knife. The blades are on both sides of each "backbone" for the pliers, meaning you do not get the wiggle common to a tool that has multiple fold-out blades on each rivet or screw. This makes a BIG difference in the strength.

The screwdrivers are very useful. There's a small straight screwdriver (just the right size for my glasses,) a medium straight screwdriver, and a flat phillips driver. They are all very solid and work well. The awl is about 7/8" long and very strong. Some people don't care for the awl, but I use mine all the time. The file is absolutely terrific. The fine side will do fingernails in a second, while the coarse side can easily handle wood, metals and plastic. It is not made of SS, but is constructed just like a normal file. I absolutely had to have a REAL file, not one of those SS "roughened" surfaces that are passed off in other tools.

In summary, an absolutely beautiful work of multi-tool art. If you liked the Bear Jaws or the Micra, this is smaller, better feeling, and better constructed. Leatherman gets an A+ for this baby!
Knives Review Don't leave home without it!
I've always carried around a leatherman wave in my jeans and work pants pocket, and all was well until I took an office job. The wave was a little heavy for dress pants that I now have to wear, and having one on a belt sheath is not an option. I felt naked not having my multi-tool with me, so I started looking around and found the Squirt P4. I've had it one day now and am SO happy with my purchase. I can't believe the quality and great versatility of this little bugger. The folks at Leatherman did an awesome job designing a fantastic product that I'm sure will be with me for many years. Don't be afraid to try one, you won't be sorry. Cool color too!

Knives Review a most-helpful item.
If you do not own a leatherman tool ... well then you do not know what you are missing. This successor to the Swiss Army Knife has to be one of the most helpful items you can buy.

Note: It is now available in a multitude of colors ... I would recommend getting the brightest color that you can (based on where it will be used most) that way it will not blend into the background if dropped ... and will be much harder to misplace.

Knives Review Some negatives for an almost perfect multitool.
I agree that this simple, elegant design is probably one of the best Swiss Army Knives out there. Unfortunately it's missing tweezers! I can't tell you how useful they are with splinters.

An aging Recruit model that I have is usually preferable for every day use because it has two blades, as the longer one is overkill for most tasks I use my knife for. I tend to use the smaller knife for everyday needs (opening boxes and packages, etc). The longer blade comes in handy for cutting up fruit and other foods as well as envelopes. It works out well as I wouldn't want a knife used to cut up edibles to have been used to open dirty boxes or punch open the foil seals on the bottles of photo developing chemicals. The shorter knife is also more stable for non-food related tasks.

The metal case is definitely more durable and I love how it looks. My Recruit model's plastic case has a bit broken off due to a particularly drop and I've had old knives where they've fallen off completely due to neglectful use.

All in all a great knife, but it is missing a few elements that keep me holding onto the plastic model.

Knives Review Another absolute gem
I bought this knife to replace an older one that I "lost" at an airport security check (forgot to empty that pocket at home.)

It appears to be exactly the same knife as the Swiss Army Pioneer Pocket Knife, which I also bought ("just to see..."), except that this one has a key ring.

They are both absolute gems, each has a small variety of tools that are extremely useful and is not overloaded with "fun" stuff that just add to the weight and awkwardness. The metal is hard & sturdy enough that you can really do some prying without damaging the blades, the knife blade is sharp and will hopefully stay that way for a while (good metal), the can-opener works well, the shape of the small screwdriver lets you wriggle it into the smallest of openings to do the pry thing, and the blade remains un-nicked so continues to work well as a screwdriver afterward.
Also, the handle is metal, not plastic, so I can carry it (for years?) in the same pocket with my keys, with no chipping or loosening of the side plates. A very good design! and I'm grateful that the Company continues to make such a useful piece, when they undoubtedly earn a lot more profit from the big, fancy, multi-mega-bladed tools - which may be good in a toolbox, but not in a pocket!

Knives Review Victorinox Beats Wenger In Quality

I am somewhat of an unqualified expert on the Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, I currently own 4 of them, and one Wenger Executive. If you are going back and forth debating which is better, in my experience the Victorinox is superior in blade quality and construction. The Wenger knives have more "wiggle" in the blade and just don't feel as solid.

The Silver Alox Soldier is a fine looking knife. I really prefer the look and style to any other Swiss Army red or black. It feels heavier, and the handle material isn't going to chip or crack. Good enough to put in your back or front pocket without being too heavy, and a nice mix of tools. I also have the Silver Alox Harvester, which is the same knife with a sawblade added. You wouldn't think it would make much of a difference, but the Soldier is noticeably lighter in your pocket, so if weight is a big deal for you and you can sacrafice the sawblade, this knife would be ideal for you.

Powermatic 1610070K Model 60 8" Long Bed Jointer

    Knives Review Very pleased customer
After recieving it from the shipping depot, I brought it home and checked it for damage. All parts had arrived in good condition. Tool Crib's Free shipping is a pretty good deal on a 600 lb. tool.

I used an engine hoist to raise the bed onto the stand. This beast is heavy! Final Setup and wiring were straight forward enough.

The two horsepower motor comes up to speed instantly on 230 volts. I decided to break it in with some 8 inch by 8 ft, 8/4 hard maple planks that I had purchased rough milled. The jointer was easy to operate. Jointing and surface planing put a prefect finish on the lumber with no struggle at all.

I would strongly recommend this product.

Knives Review 32 years and still running strong
If you're even considering purchasing a jointer - this is the one to buy. I have a Powermatic model 60 8" jointer that was built in 1960 and it still runs great. I wouldn't remove it from my shop if you offered my a brand new jointer for free.

    Knives Review Worth EVERY penny
This jointer is absolutely outstanding. My previous machine was a 6" Jet jointer, which is a very good product. However, I wanted the capability to face joint boards wider than 6" and many many times, I wished for a longer bed.
In my quest to upgrade, I considered numerous options.
The Powermatic 54A is a 6" machine with great bed length.
The fence on it is superb. It's flat, accurate, repeatable, and rock solid. If I had purchaced that machine first, I probably could not justify upgrading to an 8". But I was upgrading and ocassionally needed the 8" capability.
Since I have a Delta Unisaw and 14" bandsaw, I was convinced that I wanted the Delta DJ20. It has the 8" blades. The in-feed table has a spring assisted parallelagram, which is silky smooth and effortless to operate. However, after operating a Powermatic 54A with it's fence, my expectations rose to a higher standard. I looked at several DJ20's, and each fence had too much lateral slop for a ($) machine. Which I demonstrated to and discussed with two Delta rep's who offered no solution nor a sound explaination other than it probably wouldn't effect the quality of cut. If I tighten everything up, I don't want it to move. I was woefully under impressed with the Delta fence. In contrast, the Powermatic fence is much easier adjust from (+ - )45 to 90 and has the added benefit of allowing you to skew the fence at an angle to the table. This is beneficial when jointing expensive highly figured boards that are succeptable to grain tear out. It's worth mentioning again, "it is rock solid".
I upped my price range from the DJ20 to the Powermatic 8" catagory. This seemed a little confusing initially because prices ranged from ($) - ($). The bottom line is that the higher priced version has 2 HP. It's a personal choice, but if you're stepping up to this class of jointer, for a couple hundred extra dollars you an additional 30% HP. I feel that 1-1/2 HP is most likely very sufficient but I opted for 2 HP. The fence on the 8" jointer is not an exact design duplicate of the 54A's fence but is equally great in all respects.
Look at the other Amazon reviews on the ($) and ($) 8" Powermatic jointers. I can not describe this machine any better than the reviewers of those items. All their positive comments apply to this machine. The primary difference is the power.

I am usually a Delta guy, but this Powermatic tool stand alone in a class ALL by itself.

Knives Review This is the one to have...
...if like me and Mcgyver you find that a versatile tool always available can make a quick fix around the office, campground, on multi day river trips ,or whenever .People who know me are always calling on "McGyver" to come to their rescue with this tool!! I have had to just order a 3rd one due to loss or theft of previous ones because without this knife I almost feel naked and powerless!Have carried this model for countless years and use it practilly daily.

Knives Review A well thought out selection of tools on this model
The Ranger is with one exception, the same exact knife model that has been sent up for 20 years on Space shuttle missions as NASA issue. That difference is it has a corkscrew, replacing the phillips screwdriver in the same location on the knife, all other things are the same. They called the model with the phillips "Master Craftsman" and is no longer made.
The Ranger will handle a lot of different tasks with its tool set. It is even equipped to saw through metal, and wood. A truly
versatile knife worthy of the MacGiver in you life, or yourself.
And a good balance between size/weight/abilities.Its alot in one small package.

Knives Review A great set of tools in one
I have always wanted a Swiss army knife because I used to watch MacGuyver on tv as a kid. Just looking at this marvel of a tool shows you that you could practically do anything with it. I have to say when I first opened the box and looked at this Swiss army knife,it looked to nice to even to use. This Swiss army knife also smells like a serious tool. Fresh out of the box this Swiss army knife reminds me of a freshly cleaned and oiled firearm. I love this Swiss army knife. This is a very high quality made tool. I am sure this Swiss army knife will come in handy many times in the future.

All it purports to be, this sharp knife very easily opens and closes with quick, one-handed movements. As with many other users, I find the well-placed clip perfect for discreet carrying although -- as the only negative -- it is way too tight.

Knives Review Smooth operation, high quality.
Excellent operating mechanism is easy to open and close and very secure. Great blade design. Low carry clip is very strong and holds knife below the pocket line for discreet carry. Lightweight.

      Knives Review Great carriable knife
The Mini X-Ray Vision is a great small knife that is truly a confortable carriable (if you carry a larger knife and bend down, you know what I mean). With the low carry clip the knife is inconspicuous and comfortable to wear.

This knife ships with a very sharp blade, and with the Arc-Loc it is possible to draw, open, close and replace the knife with one hand. Now that's useful!
