Multitools Review Rebuttal to reviewers comments about www.yourbestdeals.net
This reviewer Evan Jansen from Bend, OR USA said

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here but I just think everyone should know you can get this same tool much cheaper at www.YourBestDeals.net

This guy is dead wrong, its much much higher for wave tool that doesn't even come with a leather pouch and couple bucks higher for the tool adapter.

Personally, I wouldn't go the route of this tool as the wave does everything I need it to do in data networks and minor repair uses. My boss and I use our wave pretty much daily and I recommend it to all my cisco classmates.

Multitools Review Nice Accessory, On or Off of the Wave
This Tool Adapter for the Leatherman Wave comes with 6 hex tips and a black plastic case, 2 5/8x2 1/4x3/4 inches in size with a belt clip on the back, in which the adapter and tips fit snugly. The case is no bigger -and may indeed be smaller- than a screwdriver-type handle or ratchet wrench and tips. So if you already carry a Wave, the adapter might be the practical way to go if you use hex tips. It will accomodate all standard 1/4 inch hex tips.

The tool adapter fits onto the top of the Wave when it is closed. The tip has 3 positions to choose from: straight, a 45 degree angle to the Wave, and a 90 degree angle (perpendicular) to the Wave. The adapter works fine for light work. I would hesitate to use it for a job that requires a lot of torque because the adapter is not super-secure in attaching to the Wave. On these occasions, I would use the adapter without attaching it to the Wave. In fact, the adapter can easily be used on its own, and that is actually preferable in many instances. If you need to get into a small space or have trouble reaching, attach it to the Wave.

Multitools Review Great stuff
Of course you need Leatherman Wave or smth. complaiant, but still great. I even used it as it is - like single tool :))

Multitools Review nice, but how about going back to a stainless steel handle?
The ability to open the knife blade without opening the handles was an improvement over the micra. However, the anodized aluminum wears poorly when in a pocket with keys and change. The perfect design would be the Squirt with a stainless steel handle option like the Micra, in my opinion. Nonetheless this is my pocket mini-tool of choice.

Multitools Review Good product, compact, but pain chips easily
I replaced a small swiss-army knife with the Squirt S4 after losing the knife. I definately like the Squirt a lot better than my old swiss army knife. It's a little bigger, but still a less bulky than my Car Key w/Integrated Keyless Entry.

Squirt scissors are fairly strong and can but through any number of materials, including amazon.com packing boxes, small plants/flowers, and the sealed plastic that small electronics are sold in.

It is solid made and none of the tools flex or bend under normal use. The knife is razor sharp out of the box; it seems to hold its edge a slightly better than my swiss.

The paint will chip and scratch after a few weeks on a keychain. If that's important to you, I strongly recommend getting a Squirt slip-case.

Update:
Another issue. Most of the tools are on the outside (i.e. you don't have to open it to take out the knife, screwdriver, etc). This is convenience, but can be dangerous. If you apply to much pressure, the tool slip and close on your fingers. Ouch!

The Leatherman Micra does not have this problem: you open it up, flip out the tool, and then close it. Tools can't close on your fingers!

Multitools Review Great Knife and Multitool
When I bought this tool, I found out that it was the same price as the Micra. This tool is way better than the micra, because the scissors are a lot stronger and the overall product is more durable than the micra. I definatly think that this is better than the micra.

Multitools Review pretty good blade/poor design
Quality blades and materials being used here.
Bad points -
-No bottle opener - Has a can opener but no bottle opener for beers after a hard days work.
-No Scissors
-No locking blades - these nice blades will cut you.
-Sloppy pliers - pretty strong but the 2 to 1 action is slow and cumbersome.
-poor design - for example the little half inch knife blade has the edge on the wrong side so when you cut with it tends to close up on you (as opposed to open) with no blade lock how exactly are you going put any pressure on this blade without it closing up on you?
-Sloppy - when you use the screw driver you can feel the blade wobble back and forth.
-Pain in the grip - the pliers handles are not made with any comfort in mind as the metal edges dig into your hand making it impossible to take full advantage of the 2-1 leverage system. It hurts like hell to use this without some gloves on!

Based on design alone - It's hard to take SOG seriously on this knife - I expected better..

Multitools Review Very rugged tool!
I bought this tool after being caught in an emergency situation where it would have really come in handy. After carrying it for the first week or 2, I couldn't imagine having ever gotten along without it. 3 years of daily use now, and I finally broke the blade, and will need a replacement. Very useful and rugged tool (much better than the Leatherman in my drawer) - only complaint is no lock on the main blade or phillips screwdriver, where I sometimes need to apply pressure. BTW - "small blade" mentioned in above review is an awl/reamer - not intended as a blade.

Multitools Review Knife easily cuts hi-tech rope
The blade on this knife easily cuts high-tech rope like kevlar and spectra. Stays very sharp, much moreso than my Leatherman knock-off.

Multitools Review I love this knife...
This knife is really just my toothpick holder, my favorite feature by far. I've used half of the features so far at one time or another, but I'd have to say it's nice to have the other half around just in case. Nice knife, well worth the price...

Multitools Review Very useful tool
I like this pocket knife because it is slim enough that I can attach my keys to it and it would not make my pocket bulky. It has all the essential tools that I need.

The only problem I have with this knife is the location of the phillips screwdriver. I find it very difficult to use a screwdriver like that, especially in my case where I have my keys attached to the knife.

Multitools Review My favorite Swiss Army Knife
I have had a Super Tinker for 15 years or so and it is great. The scissers are far superior to those on Wenger knives(which work off the mainspring rather than a separate leaf spring) and are the tool I use most. I have only had to replace the spring once over the course of those years and much use. The spring is less than two bucks at a Remington store.

I also like this model because the corkscrew is replaced with a much more useful Phillips head screwdriver. The knife has a collection of useful tools and a reasonable weight. Some of the knives become too cumbersome when they have feature after feature.

My old Super Tinker does not have the carrying hook. The toothpick and tweezers are also long gone. I am buying a new, shiny one for myself and a couple for gifts since this price is about a third less than I paid all those years ago.

Multitools Review Not up to Gerber standards
I have multitools from various manufacturers and this tool is the biggest disappointment. The Fiskars scissors are excellent, but the other implements lack a good finish. The screwdrivers do not slide out well (or at all). They have used plastic pieces in the locking mechanism. How will this stand out over time? My experience says "not very well". This is a darn shame because the scissors are so good that they could probably suffice as a wire cutter in a pinch.
If you want a good multitool that is about this size, try a Victorinox "Minichamp" (tried and true), or Leatherman "Micra" (great waranty). Both of these tools are of uncompromised quality. Both Victorinox and Wenger have a variety of small multitool knives to choose from. BTW, Wegner knives are also of very high quality.

Multitools Review Leatherman tools are in a class of their own
I own several Leatherman tools, and two of them are these miniatures: a Squirt P-4 and the MICRA. Of the two, the better is the Squirt series. Why? The Squirts are simply better-made. They are of a more solid construction. Their opening and closing actions are solid and give a nice satisfying "click." The MICRA, on the other hand, is a bit flimsy in comparison and it's opening and closing action is sticky and slow with no great "click." With a Leatherman, you want that "click." It's part of the Leatherman mystique. On the other hand, the MICRA does possess a better choice of implements, and the quality of the implements themselves are equal to those on the PS-4. DILEMMA! What to do?

Get 'em both.

Multitools Review A Giant of a tool in a Tiny package.
A truly great little tool with excelent usability and qualitiy. My only complaint with it is I now have to remember to take it out of my computer bag when I travel by air.

Multitools Review The best stocking stuffer ever.
When I first received my Leatherman Micra as a gift, I was dubious about its usefulness. What a laugh! Since then, I've used it more than any other tool I own. It's great for opening boxes, cutting line or string, any occasion when you look around for a sharp blade and you're not likely to have one handy. The only problem with it is that anyone - man or woman - who sees it in use immediately wants to borrow it. My solution is to put it in the Christmas stocking of every adult in the family. Be careful about the kids, they will want one, too, but make sure they are responsible enough to handle it safely. It's definitely not a toy.

Multitools Review Good Looks, good pliers, but overall, a little disappointing
I bought the "juice" on Leatherman's reputation, before actually handling it in a store. The first time I tried to flip out the screwdriver blades, I nicked my thumb and actually drew blood. OUCH! After a few tries, I figured out how to get them out safely, but I wish I had a tutor before hand. Another gadget buddy bought one too and brought his in to work to show me. He also showed me his bloody thumb - so it wasn't just me. All is not bad. The pliers are strong. The corkscrew actually works well (tried it on a tough cork). The philips head screwdriver blade is strong and useful. The wirecutters work well too. The basic knife blade is just the right size to cut a NY bagel - wish it locked in place for safety. All in all, it needs a little refinement to be "best in class" but it's getting close. Try it in a store first and be careful not to get nicked. As with all "edged" tools, for safety, exercise extra care when handling.

Multitools Review A must-have tool at your next picnic!
A note on the corkscrew: While the corkscrew and assist work very well and better than any corkscrew-only design I've ever seen, you do need to take a minor bit of care to line up the assist's single "leg" dead-center on the bottle's neck or it will slide off. A regular "waiter's friend" has a two-legged assist that's self-centering, for comparison. But, a waiter's friend won't have a blade that's nearly as sharp as this one, not to mention it won't have pliers or screwdrivers. The screw works equally well in real cork and the new plastic corks.

The "3-D" Phillips driver blade is a joy compared to the totally flat wanna-be imitations of screwdrivers I've seen on other pocket tools. It's multi-talented in that it fits both #1 and #2 screws.

All in all, this is yet another fantastic creation from Tim Leatherman. This one's earned a permanent place on my keyring.

Multitools Review good tool
i like it as much as a swiss army knife. this one doesn't have scissors, so you might want to get one of the fancier in the leatherman juice series. looks good, i'm just getting to know it.

Multitools Review NOT a Maglite!
I just received this kit today, and it did NOT come with a Maglite. They included a Gerber 3-LED 2AA flashlight. It's not a bad flashlight, but don't expect a Maglite if you order this kit.

Multitools Review Perfect
This multitool and mini maglite are both very useful. Specially I very much liked the "Candle" property of the maglite. I live in a country that we time to time have power interruptions. And it came very handy when it happened to be when we were sitting a bar. And the multi tool from Gerber is something that I'd sleep with it. I am generally at the site. And you never know when you'll need it. Thanks to Gerber and Maglite very much for their very quality products.

Multitools Review unbeatable team
Gerber enjoys quite an enviable reputation when it comes to knives. When they produce a multi-tool you know it's going to be good. I say it's the best. This is my fourth U.S. made multitool . It has out lasted the other three so far. I won't mention names but they are not as strong as the Gerber. They might sell more but they don't make a better tool. I love the metallic "snap" this baby makes when you flick it into position. That snap is your assurance that it's locked and ready to go to work. Not only do the pliers lock but so do all the rest of the tools.Besides all the normal tools you usually get this comes with a jig saw blade clamp. Why is that special ? Because you can put any blade in it you want. It comes with a carbide grit blade from the factory. This proved invaluable a few weeks back. Some friends went camping with us. We all took our 5th wheels. One guy had a blowout. His spare tire was Padlocked which is no problem until his key breaks off in the lock. There we were on the side of the highway. Well I remembered that my Gerber had a carbide grit blade on it and the mini mag had fresh batteries. After a few minutes of concentrated elbow grease ,we had his lock cut and we were back on the road. I never leave home without it now.

Multitools Review A solid, sturdy tool...
I have owned my MP600 for six years and use it almost every day. The only damage or severe wear on the tool is when I discovered that the wire cutters should not be used to cut hard steel wire. (Electrical cable, they are just fine, but steel nicks the cutters.)

The pliers can extend one-handed and slide out as smooth as silk, locking into place with a solid "click". (This does take some practice and a little wear.) All of the fold-out tools lock quickly and easily. The tools, especially the file and scissors are top-notch. The fact that the knife blade is half straight, half serrated is not the best design, in my opinion, and I would gladly give up the awl to get separate blades.

I own the optional toolkit, and use it quite often.

Multitools Review Don't leave home without it
I work as a stagehand and have had this tool for about 7 years now and love it. I use it everyday and can see working without it. The fact that I can open it with one hand in just a snap of my wrist is amazing, it has been a true life saver when I am climbing light rigs upwards of 50 feet and can only have one had free to work. It's strong construction has proven itself to be a tool that I will carry till the day I retire. Many of my co-worker use other multi-tools and they have all said that mine is much better than the ones they carry and wish that they had bought a gerber instead. It's strong, easy to use, dependable, and worth the cost. In the end you get what you pay for.

Multitools Review Tool is a "Must have on your belt"
I have had my gerber scout for about a year and have been totaly impressed with it. I have used at most of my boy scout den meetings and at all of our campouts. From opening a can to cutting open a pant leg to treat an injury it has never let me down. Easy and quick to open on handed! it's wonderful.

Multitools Review Great Add on for Super Tool
As a Desktop Support Tech I find myself tearing open PC's a lot. This attachment lets me keep my most essential screwdrivers and bits on my waist instead of me digging the right one up and bringing it back to the machine, or carrying the machine all the way back to my workbench and doing the job then bringing it back. I don't have time to do that so I like to do as much as I can at the users location. Well this lets me do that. My only complaint is that the bits are not magnetic so until I get some to carry with me I have to be careful about dropping screws. For those Techs out there still working on older Compaq systems the star driver comes with the attachment so you don't have to go hunting one down if you use this product. Well done Leatherman, well done.

Multitools Review A great, great tool, made even better...
This is a wonderful tool. I picked up a leatherman tool just over eight months ago and just received the tool adaptor. It takes an already extremely practical tool and makes it even more so. The hex bit drivers are interchangeable with any of your favorite existing hex bits, and the carrying case snaps onto your belt alongside your other pocket tools. After getting the attachment, I am scouring local hardware stores for more great hex bits. Now if i could only find a great carrying case for all my bits...

Multitools Review Handy gadget to expand the use of your Leatherman(tm)
First, let me mention an important fact missing in the description.

The tool adaptor only works with the original Leatherman known as the PST(tm), the PST2(tm), the Sideclip(tm), the Supertool(tm), and the Flair(tm). It does not work with the WAVE(tm), Micra(tm),and Crunch(tm) which doesn't need it because it has the 1/4" drive holder built in.

The reason is that in order to fit the Leatherman tool the Tool Adaptor relies on a raised shoulder on the side of the handle on the pliers. Only the above mentioned Leatherman plier tools have this handle design. (SOG owners will just have to drool, as it doesn't fit.)

Now for all you owners of those Leatherman tools who have this design. This adaptor is great. It has a standard 1/4 drive head which holds any electric screwdriver head. There are inumerable heads that are available from hardware stores. You can now fix those tiny phillips screws, those torix head bolts, those robertson head screws, those allen head bolts. All with this adaptor. The best thing about using the adaptor vs the straight screw driver that comes with the Leatherman is the adaptor locks in place both up and down and side to side. No folding tools while you are levering away.

To use it, you open your pliers, slide the adaptor over the top, positioning the tab into the shoulder of the handle and close the pliers around the adaptor. Its now locked in place.

I recommend that you also buy the larger sheath that goes with your tool adaptor and the type of Leatherman(tm) pliers you have. If you can't find it here, look at the Leatherman(tm) home site. They don't sell the knives, just the sheaths. Being able to carry the pliers and this adaptor and a number of bits on your belt in one handy case is worth it.

This tool adaptor is a great addition for that tool person who already has a Leatherman.
