Like many folks I've owned a number of pairs of "channel lock" type pliers, from Craftsman to many no-name brands. I ordered these because the price was very good, I believe $12.99 at the time. I've used them a few times now and they are easily superior to the other brands I have. The joints never slip, the teeth are very tough, and the design is great, allowing you to grip a hex-nut in the center portion of the plier. I'll probaly give away some of my other sets and just keep these. Highly recommended for the price.

These pliers are very useful to have around the house and for working on your car too! Channel Lock is a good quality brand so that's a plus. For eleven dollars for two, that's a bargain.

If you want made in the USA quality, this set has it.... heavy, beautiful design and construction. A fantasic buy for the price. Highly recommended.

Lives up to the expectations I had from trying other MaxGrip tools. Very comfortable, and very solid. The 6" version is more like a standard pliers, this one is for somewhat larger jobs.

I bought both the 6" and the 8" after my 8" pair was lost, and am extremely happy with them. The self-adjusting part of these pliers is very cool. But the grip and the comfort are outstanding. After using these I would regret having to use my cold metal set. The rubberized handles give cushion and grip and the bite is outstanding. The unusual shape gives me the ability to add more pressure than the standard sets I have and used. I obviously have been won over by these an am looking at the other Stanley hand tools.

I own numerous channel lock style pliers and have found paying for the Channel Lock brand is well worth it.

They are Channellocks. The do what they are supposed to do better than any other brand of tounge and groove pliers.

As a Union Electrician, Ive used many Types of "Slip Joint Pliers", and Channellock 440s are always appropriate for any Gripping Job You have, Big Or Small. Excellent Locking Power allows you to hold even if you lose your grip on the tool.Theres a reason why Channel lock is the trade name for the tool, regardless of brand.

After struggling with a couple pairs of cheap Chinese made channellocks for years, I finally had enough and bought these. What a difference!!! The cheap models rarely have heavy duty handles (you can feel them flex quite a bit when you squeeze), but these are very sturdy. Also, these handles are connected together tightly, and do not wobble back and forth perpendicular to the jaws like the Chinese ones did.

If you can spare the money, buy a good pair like these and save yourself a lot of grief!

The 4 1/2" capacity of these jaws is useful when you are tightening alternator belts on an engine. It is not too difficult to hold the belt tight with these pliers in one hand while you tighten the nut with the other. They will damage fasteners if used in place of a proper wrench.

They are also useful to loosen sink traps and other large plumbing nuts, if they are not "stuck" or located in real tight quarters. They work well on plastic & nylon pipe fittings if they are not "stuck." You can easily crush plastic pipe and fittings if you are not careful. These are no substitute for a pipe wrench, but once the fasteners are loose, these work okay.

The slip jaw can be a little awkward if you don't control both handles while setting the size.
