Sanding Blocks Review 6 inch Hand Sander, uses 6
This is a soft foam product, formed to grasp with one hand. The bottom has a heavy vinyl layer for sticking the peel and stick abrasive to the hand unit. I plan to use it for touch up sanding on acoustic guitar production. [...] Nice way to add a bit more versatility to the abrasives which are already in stock for my random orbital sander.

Sanding Blocks Review A Do-It-Yourselfer's gift from God
I tried 'em all. The sanding block on a stick---my arms STILL hurt and the dust got in my eyes! The wet sponge or rag---not dusty, but it took forever. My orbital palm sander worked well, but the plaster gummed up its insides.

Enter the FibaTape Dustless Drywall Sander. I was helping my bro-in-law Goog remodel his bathroom. After putting the first layer of mud up I left him to do the sanding. (Because I hate it.) But a friend of his had one of these dandy FibaTape sanders hooked up to a shop vac! Presto! Sanding drywall was a dream! Almost effortless, and best of all---NO DUST! Note: We used the FibaTape sanding screens, and they worked VERY well.

I'm getting one of these babies because I know that after the first two jobs it will have paid for itself.

Sanding Blocks Review Another "Must Have"....
These highly flexible sanding sponges are another time saving tool that every woodworker needs to have. They will mold to almost any contour and come in a wide selection of grits. Very easy on the hands, they help cut the fatique factor way down. Keep em clean and they last a long time. Grizzley, Klingspor and several other companies offer variations of these thin sanding sponges. Occasionally you will find them on sale, in pkgs of 6 for less than $1 a sponge. Hard to beat that deal. Little hint here, if you have more than one grit, you will want to mark the end with a sharpie for grit size....hard to tell the diff between 100 and 150 if ya don't. I have used these sponges for a couple of years now and can't recommend them high enough.

Sanding Blocks Review clean, comfortable sanding
I love this sander. The handle is comfortable and makes sanding allot easier. I had another vacuum sander but never ended up finishing a job with a regular sander since the other vacuum sander was so uncomfortable and difficult to use. Using this I was able to do a small drywall job in my house without moving out or coating the house with dust as happens with a regular sander. I'm not a professional so I really appreciated the soft grip which made holding onto it after sanding for a long time much easier. I also liked being able to shift hand positions and use both hands for difficult parts or to give my arms a break.

Sanding Blocks Review must have item
I can get a better finish with these than with a pole sander. I guess that's obvious. I like to use them with a light shining across the joints to get them really smooth. As with the pole sanders, I like to use floor sanding paper with these. It cuts faster , lasts longer and stays flatter than the precut sheets and sanding screens.

Sanding Blocks Review Review of dustless sander
This is a nice piece of equipment to always have on hand. It's inexpensive compared to other dustless sanders, and still gets the job done. I use it a lot in doing repairs inside finished and lived in homes. There is no masking needed in sanding large repairs. I really like this item. It's only downside is the attachment "Y" can be a bit weak so don't press down too hard when sanding.

Sanding Blocks Review great for the DIYer
Having done a couple thousand square feet of drywall finishing the old fashioned way (coughing up dust as I sanded), I was hoping for something inexpensive that would maybe take half of the dust out of the air. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Dust Dog does much more, sucking away almost all of the dust created from sanding. No longer will I emerge from the work area looking like a ghost.

The unit is simple, and the female connection for the pole is sturdy. Some minor drawbacks: while not made of cast iron or anything, the unit is heavier than a plain sanding block, and you also have to dangle the vacuum hose around with you, so you will tire faster when sanding, especially on higher walls and ceilings. Additionally, the "suction control valve" does not have a tremendous amount of adjustability, but I didn't notice that sanding was any harder due to the block sticking to the sanding surface. Lastly, because the vacuum hose dangles off of the bottom of the universal joint, you can't rotate the sanding block around as easily or in as many positions as a plain pole sander. On a positive note, grasping the unit at the universal joint is a relatively comfortable grip to do close-up hand-sanding instead of using the pole.

That being said, I'm pleased with an inexpensive means of dustless drywall sanding. I have mine hooked up to a run-of-the-mill Ridgid shop vac without any special filter, and while I do need to shake the filter out relatively frequently, it does just fine keeping the dust in the vacuum.

Sanding Blocks Review Kind of cheap stuff...
This is a cheap sanding block... nothing else. Is flat, but after few detailed inspections I started to notice that it feels like some glue tips where down the pad, I think is not a killer situation if you are not making a show car, but maybe all of us in the car bussines want to make our cars look like show cars.

Even that way I give this item 4 stars because it is the larger pad I've found without being an expensive 3M stick-it stuff, and it grips the sandpaper fine. Maybe the tips of glue doesn't disturb at all the sanding process... I hope they just desapear after some use.

Sanding Blocks Review usless as delivered
I bought this unit and paid for two day shipping to control the dust in a room addition I am doing.I am skim coating and sanding everything. It arrived as expected but when I started the assembly, I discovered that it was missing one of the clamps that held the sanding screen to the sanding head. I immediately called the number on the product sheet and was assured that the part would be FedExed that day. One week later, after not recieving the part, I called again. The vendor once again assured me that it would be FedExed for next day delivery. That was the day before yesterday.I now dread going to the job. Despite other control measures, dust is everywhere, the part is no where to be found. My evaluation of this product is that it is useless as delivered. It is no better than the support you get when you have a problem.

Sanding Blocks Review Plugs too fast
I have been using this unit for the last three days on a major drywall project and am dissapointed in the unit. I find that I have to completely clean the unit every half hour or the suction drops to zero. I am using a 16 gal. heavy duty vaccum that starts choking after a few minutes use.

Sorry, I would not recomend this unit for extended use.

Sanding Blocks Review I Can't Complain...
I just spent half a day sanding drywall with this thing, and I have to say, it delivered as promised. I understand what others are saying, it doesn't look like you're getting much for your half a C-note, but what are the alternatives? The hose looks cheap, but it is very flexible and sprung back when I invariably stepped on it. It's kind of noisy, but I'd rather wear ear muffs than get covered in dust all day. And I'm sure it must be better for your shop vac than sucking dust directly all day.

If I were a professional mudder, I'm sure I would go for the three- or four hundred dollar set up, but for the once-in a whiler, this is about right. The bottom line is I got more done in less time (spent less time choking on dust) and clean up was about 10 percent of what it is when the dust is allowed to run free. You still have to supply the muscle, but at least you're less disgusted when your done (though still tired).
