For 15 years I used a cordless screwdriver originally made by AEG and nearly identical to this Panasonic. The nicest feature for me is the compact design that fits into tight spaces other cordless driver will not. I use mine mainly for computer assembly. Swivel the handle to a pistol grip and the Panasonic is even more compact as well as comfortable.

Battery life is adequate. Because the Panasonic is nice and compact, the battery discharges somewhat sooner than other drivers with large hunk of battery. I recommend an extra battery if you plan to use it for work.

The forward/reverse switch is actuated with your right thumb. At first use it feels strange but it turns out they know what they're doing. The switch allows instantaneous forward to reverse switching. I think once you get used to it you will come to appreciate it. If you are left-handed it can still be actuated with your left index finger.

I think the Milwaukee 6547-22 2.4-Volt 2-Speed Cordless Screwdriver is nearly identical and even better than the Panasonic for not much more money.

The Father of the Screw was a Greek, Archimedes (~2232 years ago). BTW: The book ASIN/ISBN 0684867303 "One Good Turn: A Natural History of the Screwdriver and the Screw by Witold Rybczynski" is a MUST READ.
I bought some of this "GOLDEN" Screwdriver Sets 2004 but didn't work with it. (I'm using the "just steel" versions PB 215 ASIN/ISBN B0002CI8QE which is in size and function the same).
These Are The BEST Screwdrivers in a roll-up wallet, 7 interchangable blades, gold coated (one of them an awl) fitting to a well designed, black "soft-grip" turn-handle, plus two screwdrivers for fine work and craft. I highly recommend this PB 7215G, to work with it or as a GOLD GIFT.

PB Screwdrivers are "The Best In The World" - I agree.

The Father of the Screwdriver isn't known but we know that Paul and Max Baumann from Switzerland were producing molded handles (1953) for their 1st class screwdriver blades (made since 1941). As a young man (~ 1962) I bought a PB Baumann Screwdriver Set - in Zurich, Switzerland (and have it still in use). 1996 I bought another PB 215 Screwdriver Set in Colorado Springs, CO U.S.A., for my Art Sculpture Studio (now in Denver, CO U.S.A., as a HandyMan - and for my sculptures too).

These are fine screwdrivers from the Stubby to the PRO 8 w/ 1/4" & 5/16" nut drivers. These tools have a knack for being what you need at the time like a leatherman. Yes leatherman does screwdriving bits also, so here is why I reccomend this tool right beside it. REACH! The full size handle has bits 3" long bits that will clic from your scredriver handle to your 1/4" quick connect chuck.
Other multi drivers use extensions w/ or w/out that sliding sleeve, which will not get into cramped spots, for example brackets for window coverings AND not just the new brackets your putting up, also the old ones your taking down with the bent and or cammed out heads.

Large drywall project, 5 people, inexperienced to professional. I made a joke upon arriving about finally having a good tool to use (they already had a DeWalt gun). As we worked, I found that everyone preferred the P-C gun by a wide margin, including me. It is not like the DeWalt doesn't work and the P-C does. The P-C seemed to be lighter, had better trigger control, felt better in your hand, and seemed to work better overall (fresh bits maintained in both guns so that was not a factor). No one could say that one thing was vastly superior, but everyone preferred the P-C gun. The professional had a P-C gun the next day replacing his DeWalt - the DeWalt was never picked up the 2nd day. If you decide to get the gun, you can beat Amason's price by a bunch (well over $20).

I have one and use it all the time. You would be supprised how often something this simple comes in handy around the house and office.

I like tools, but I don't usually gush over them. And generally I think the "tool-that-does-the-job-of-eight" doesn't do any job well.

Two friends, professionals in the construction trades, introduced me to 'Retract-a-bit". On their recommendations, I bought one.

It isn't as good as the single purpose tools it substitutes for, but it is plenty good enough for most jobs. If I have a fixit task and I'm not sure what screwdriver I need, it's lots simpler to carry this than to carry the whole set or to guess at what I'll need. And with just one hand, while standing on a ladder over an open grate, I can draw the tool, select the right bit, and use it.

This is always in my belt. I use it all the time.

And you can get it from Amazon for 2/3 of the hardware store price.

It looks ok in the picture, but I was really pleased at how sturdy it is. I snapped it together in about 6 minutes (no tools needed). It saves lots of space in my garage since it fits neatly in the corner. It is wonderful how much heavy stuff it holds & won't tip like a regular shelf set.
