Sharpening Stones Review This makes it a lot easier to keep your knives sharp!
I'm fanatical about keeping my knives sharp, and with a sharpening stone that doesn't develop a "belly" with time, this thing is great. All you need is something to hone a freshly sharpened knife, and you're right as rain!

Remember to NEVER use water on this thing while sharpening; just clean the diamond surface of metal, and you're good to go.

Sharpening Stones Review Great sharpener for the kitchen.
I bought this at Lowes and it works great. Mainly used it for my kitchen knives and it took only seconds for it to sharpen. But next time I'll definitely check amazon.com prices first since it's alot cheaper!

Sharpening Stones Review Excellent bench stone
This 6" x 2.5" stone is made well and the size easily handles a 2.5 inch No.7 Jointer plane iron. The coarse and fine should be enough to handle most of your sharpening needs for under 50 dollars total. I use water to lubricate the stone and it works flawlessly. The rubber feet on the stand make use easy whether I am in the house at my desk or at the bench in the workshop.

Sharpening Stones Review Good stone, But!!!
If you are going to order this because you ordered the shapening station, don't....The station comes with one.
Other then that, its a good stone. What do you do with two?

Sharpening Stones Review Grinding wheel dressing stone
Worked very well for rounding a out of round and out of balance 7" wheel. Also works very well to clean metal that is clogging wheels, and to true the surface.

Sharpening Stones Review Finally a quality product that does what it's supposed to...
I've tried several different sharpening systems, and sharpeners over the course of my lifetime, and without a doubt, the DMT DuoSharp is the best I've personally used. The Stone is very effective having both coarse and fine sides to it, and it is quality built. I will have this stone for my lifetime, and my son will probably inherit it after I'm gone.
If you're looking for a stone to take a damaged or totally unsharpened edge to a razor edge, then this is the one you need. If a more polished edge is what you're after then the Fine, Extra Fine is the one for you. With these two stones, you can sharpen and hone then polish anything from a pocket knife to a hatchet and then on to a Samarai Sword. I'm currently working on putting a razor sharp edge on a Hattori Hanzo replica sword my son owns.
This is a pricey stone, but remember... you get what you pay for!
I'd buy it all over again!

Sharpening Stones Review Really great; saved my chisels
This diamond stone is really useful. After attempting to regrind, then hone some old chisels on a set of waterstones, I had almost ruined the chisels due to the fact that the large amount of grinding that had carved bowls in my stones (which I didn't notice right away).

I purchased this diamond stone to true the water stones and it does a great job, rendering them flat with just a few strokes. The added bonus was that I also used the diamond stone for the first stage of regrinding the chisels; it was much faster than the water stone and stayed flat during the process.

Unless you have a method of securing the diamond stone to your bench, get the available holder, its definitely worth the money.

I did notice a bit of rust forming on the steel substrate after leaving it wet, so I now dry it off after each use.

Sharpening Stones Review Super flat and super fast
A super value sharpener for all your edges no matter what they are made of. Carbide, ceramic, tool steel, high speed steel all are sharpened very quickly to a very keen edge. The double sided design is a great space saver and the whetstone size is great for large plane iron flattening / sharpening. This premium value seems to be found in all the rest of the DMT product line too.

Sharpening Stones Review DuoBase Whetstone
Does exactly as promised...Holds your duostone whetstone securely in place during use. Added plus is the height of this thang allows a large handed person like me to sharpen a long kitchen knife all the way to the hilt.

Sharpening Stones Review This is a handy accessory for sharpening!
This base really helps make it easier to sharpen with bench stones. It provides lots of knuckle clearance and you can change out your different sharpening bench stones. It fits all types 6"x2" sized sharpening stones. It's great that it also has a feature on the underside for hand held sharpening of hard to hold tools..axes, that type of thing. It was good investment to add versatility to my tool bench!

Sharpening Stones Review Stable base for heavy sharpening
I use this base to hold 4" DMT whetstones and sharpen chisels and planes. These heavy items can move around an unsecured sharpening system. Plus the DMT stones are used wet which makes the table top slippery unless you are a lot neater than I am.

I was very satisfied with the plastic base. It never moved even when placed on wet formica. The elevated height allowed me to guide the tool along the edge and to flatten the chisel backs without hitting fingers on the table top. Eight rubber washers slip over plastic feet. Sounds flimsy, but its not. I would recommend gluing the rubber feet on at some point just so they don't get lost.

It also lets one store the diamond plate without scratching other surfaces or damaging the plate bottom.

The diamond stone came with a non-skid pad, but it would not hold a piece of plate glass still unless the table top was perfectly flat (and most are not).

The main disadvantage to the holder is that the stone cannot be easily flipped over. One plastic end must be removed and then reinserted. Maybe a 15 second job, but if you are going to use both sides in succession, it's inconvenient. I wish I had bought a coarse/fine combo instead of a fine/x-fine.

Money well spent.

Sharpening Stones Review Makes Short Work of Sharpening
I got the coarse/x-fine combo because I needed the coarse side for cleaning up the stones I have, and the x-fine side for further honing after my 600-grit stone. Definitely worth it, and the large size makes it easy to handle chsiels, plane blades, other stones, and so forth.

Diamond stones cut a lot faster than oilstones, and the extra fine side puts an excellent edge on my planer and chisels. After flattening other stones, I used the coarse side to quickly lap the back of a couple blades I am tuning. Pricey for a sharpening stone, but they really work great.

Sharpening Stones Review Convert!
As a hard core "conventional stone" user for the last 30 years, I was amazed at the ease, simplicity and accuracy of this diamond benchstone. No more oil mess for me! Sharpening requires a lot less strokes than conventional stones and fewer grits to deliver a finer edge. Several strokes per side should do it! I still recommend the leather strop to finish.

Sharpening Stones Review Perfect for the job
This tool does a great job of sharpening serrated knife edges. It's not as fast as a diamond tool, but it creates a finer edge, and leaves the work area with a mirror shine. Great for touching up your serrated blades, or even for giving a factory edge a little extra. The company also makes this tool available with diamond abrasive in two different grits. It would be nice if Amazon offered them, as they would be perfect for restoring a beat up knife.

This tool is still a needed accessory though, as it begins where the diamond grits leave off. Even "so so" serrated knives can be sharpened quickly with this little gem.

Sharpening Stones Review Hands Down - Its the BEST
I have used this stone to sharpen at least 100 blades and it still performs like it did on Day 1. This is my 4th Diamond Machine Technology stone. My 1st was/IS a 12 inch extra-fine that is used to put mirror-polished edges on whatever I am sharpening. It still works as well as it did 4 years ago. As with all of DMT's products, the only lubrication used is plain water - no messy oils to contend with, just wipe the excess water off and let air dry when finished. Although a bit pricier than the competition, the monocrystaline diamonds and the thick, rigid, heavy base are well worth the price. I have tried Gerber and Tygersteel stones, and to be honest, they do a fine job - at first, but wear out too quickly. The DMT really has NO competion. Its #1

Sharpening Stones Review Can't go wrong with DMT
I've used these stones before, and they work so well I finally decided to buy one. Like most stones they are a bit expensive, but there isn't anything that will substitute. I bought the fine grit, but will likely buy the medium and coarse some day. Just not today. One at a time makes the "bite" not as hard on the pocket book as buying all three at one time.

Sharpening Stones Review A woodworkers, gardeners and chef's dream!
I have been using DMT's sharpeners for years and can't find a better product out there! In the kitchen, its perfect because I never have to buy new knives, I can simply sharpen them and know that they will last longer. In the garden, my wife enjoys the sharp edge on her pruners when she sharpens them. About five years ago I bought her a pair of Felco pruners. Knowing that I wanted them to last, the DMT sharpener allows her to use them year after year without worries. I can't believe I used to sharpen mt scissors and knives without one of those slide through sharpeners. These diamond sharpeners are great.
