Shears Review The only way to cut Hardi
I am a professional remodeler and recently took on a job where I was residing a house. This tool performs like a champ. This will be the only way I cut Hardiboard siding in the future. It is too hard on your saw and your lungs not to justify buying these shears, even if you are only doing one house. Not to mention, the circular saw blade you are supposed to use for Hardi is about $50 and the special dust collecting saws are usually over $400. I rented an old pair of shears for this job I was doing and was getting pretty frustrated with them. They cut very slow and with a great deal of effort. I would have been much better off if I had bought this tool at the beginning of the job since they cut about five times faster. Don't waste your time with any other method.

Shears Review Great Product
I am not a contractor but have done plenty of DIY projects on many homes with family members who are. We bought this product to side a 2500 sq foot house and were able to do so in about 3-4 weekends with 3 people on the job. We tried cutting a few boards using a chop saw but the dust was pretty substantial. This tool does slow down the cutting a bit but is more maneuverable if you're cutting on the fly and also reduces dust substantially. This is important because the John Hardie website even contains warnings about the harmful effects of the carcinogenic silica dust in the products. The tool is heavy duty and tore consistent, clean lines through the fiber cement like it was butter. Blade showed no signs of wear by the end of the job. I will be using it to side my own home next year, most likely.

Shears Review Fiber Cement installation- must have tool
If you work with any type of fiber cement siding product, you absolutely must have this tool. It will make your life soo much easier when it's time to cut fiber cement. Don't bother buying special circular saw blades or large shears, this tool will do it all with no or very little dust and cuts quickly. The jaws are reversible so when one side gets worn, just flip them over and you have a new set of jaws.

Worth every penny!!!

Shears Review Kett , Model K442 16-gauge variable speed shears
For a living , I work with sheets of copper , aluminum , and sheet metal. I started out useing air shears. Then went to a better pair of air shears. They worked ok. But taking the compressor , hoses , etc. to every job site got old in a hurry. Not to mention that the compressor didn't quite keep up with the air shears. After 50+ copper roofs , I thought I would try electric shears. So I did my reserch. These Kett shears were my choice. Let me tell you. These Kett shears make the air shears look sick. No comparison. The Kett shears are variable speed , and very powerfull. Lots of power to spare. No heavy air hose to drag and catch on things. No compressor and hoses to lugg around. Etc. , Etc.. I would recommend these shears to anyone who wants a good quality pair of shears. I rated these shears at a "5" , and now I know why the others had also rated them at a "5". The metal box (an option) is a little big for the shears , but it works. The box is very well built , and is worth the money.

Shears Review Like a Hot Knife Thru Butter
Wish I would have purchased this Kett shear months ago. Can't believe the speed and smoothness of the cut. Quite a time saver!

Shears Review quick delivery, professional service
the item arrived in a quick timely fashion. The seller was very courteous and professional. a nice transaction.

Shears Review scissors that won't let you down.
The Fiskars 9637 garden shears are tops if you are looking for a pair of scissors that can take alot of abuse and still be sharp. I use mine in a flower shop where I can be cutting anything from woody stems to wire to the most delicate flowers and ribbon. The stainless steel blades stay clean even after alot of use. The handles fit perfectly in your hand(provided you are right-handed). [If you are left-handed the Fiskars 9474 are almost the same with the exception that the blades can be taken apart]. The serrations on the blades make cutting things much easier than smooth edged blades because the serrations hold the thing you are cutting where you want it. The overall size of these shears is just about perfect because they fit nicely in the back pocket of a pair of jeans. What this means is you can have them at hand when you need them. At the low price get a few pairs and give your friends each a pair-they will thank you

Shears Review Excellent All-Purpose Shears
I've been using these for everything. Excellent, sharp scissors cut flowers and small, soft wood easily. Little notch for tougher stems. At reduced price they are a steal.

7/11/06 Today I came to Amazon to replace these scissors which I have lost (where do they all go???) Interestingly, these scissors used to be called kitchen shears and my original review said I loved them and also used them for the garden. Someone must have been paying attention! So now I will say....get a pair of these for the kitchen also, they are the best for all uses including cutting chicken bones with the little notch, cutting up herbs, trimming veggies, cutting open plastic bags and making short work of those impossible CD packages.

Shears Review great product, great price
I got this kit from my local walmart for $39 a couple of years ago. The grass shearer is very easy to use and the other tools come handy in various garden jobs. With Amazon one-day sale the price is $22.99 - what a great deal!

Shears Review Great product, don't review this until you OWN it!
I can't believe someone reviews a product without actually owning it, that isn't fair to the product. Anyway, it DOES include a battery (not sure exactly what type) but it's inside of the grass shearer. Just plug it's cable into the A/C and it charges. When it's ready to be used, it works like a charm in hard to reach areas of the garden. For me, I find it especially useful around patio lights that can't be mowed around easily. I'm sure I'll find other areas of the garden too!

The included tools are very nice. They have rubberized grips and look like quality tools. The kneepad could be a little softer, but it'll do. The hand pruner worked perfectly to oust a HUGE weed in the garden. Gloves are decent too.
The carrying bad is large, tough, and better than expected. A great addition!
It even comes with a 30-day no risk satisfaction guarantee. How can you go wrong for $24.99? If you bought all these items seperately, it'd be way more than that. Just a pair of garden gloves can be $15!

We just moved into our first single family home less than a week ago and I took a risk and pre-ordered this Black and Decker gardening set. It's a perfect set. Great for first time home owners like me, who literally don't own one gardening tool! (NONE!) A great set, and I am happy with it!

Happy gardening!

Shears Review Siding plus plastic laminate
I have used my PC siding cutters on cement siding for which it was designed and last night I discovered a new use...cutting plastic laminate. I noticed an ad for a plastic laminate cutter and saw how closely the cutters resembled the PC. I tried it and discovered that if I have the back side up, it does a terrific job.
It does a first class job on siding with no dust filling the air, not the best choice for very straight lines but great for general cutting.

Shears Review porter cable fiber cement shear
I have owned this fiber cement shear long enough to realize that it's a quality tool. The design is nearly flawless, effortless to use, can cut dead straight "bad joint quality". The tool will cut gentle arcs if need be. It raises no dust at all and the blades are extremely durable. It's variable speed allows the user to slow down for a "cut out". I've owned other brands of shears, some costing a hundred dollars more, and none holds a candle to this tool.

Shears Review World's Best Pruner gets even better with rotating handle!
I have used the Felco #7 Pruner for more than 20 years now. Everytime I use them I thank my wife for recommending them to me. She got her Felco #7 Pruner from "Women's Work". I have taken it apart on the average of once every 5 years for adjusting and cleaning. Taking it apart and reassembling is very user friendly.
The real joy is in using the Felco # 7 purner. I did not believe a rotating handle would feel very secure to hold or to operate. Well, I was wrong. This pruner is very secure to hold and operates smoothly. Pruning with these is as easy as cutting butter. I have been able to use these pruners (bare-handed) for 8 hours of pruning. I have never gotten a blister or sore muscles, as I have gotten with other brands of pruners.
Pruning has never been one of my favorite gardening activities until I got the Felco #7, but I found out it was a joy to prune with a precision tool. I recommend these to all my friends.

Shears Review Simply the Best. Inexpensive for a lifetime tool!
Felco 4 has been my pruner for years. The one I hide from all of my helpers, even my wife! After recently buying a Felco 7, and pruning some 50 rose bushes and two dozen trees in one day, I realize the beauty of this model, with the swivel handle - not one blister, or even hand fatigue!

This pruner is well worth the money, and is certainly worth spending a little bit more on than buying a Felco 4 or Felco 2. (Unlike the Felco 2 or 4, this model comes apart and various replacement parts are available)

The swivel handle makes for a unique pruning experience. The Felco craftsmanship makes for a clean, smooth cut every time.

Shears Review Classic
I bought this because Fiskers are quality products and you get so much with this. I needed the pruners especially because we just bought a house. Take care and buy it!

Shears Review Fiskars quality in a unique gift set . . .
I've had this set for several months, and I've been using it far more than I expected. First, the folding scissors are great for my needlework projects. Small and compact, I have them on a ribbon (there's an "eye" on one of the handles that works well for this), and keep them handy in my project tote. These aren't your typical cheesy folding scissors -- they're much higher quality, sharp, and easily to control.

The angled scissors are in my kitchen "tool" drawer, and work well for all of the typical kitchen tasks.

The pruners get the most use. I do my own flower arrangements when I can, and these work *beautifully* for preparing the blooms. They cut cleanly through the woodier stems, strip thorns from roses, and crush the stem ends to facilitate water absorption. A quick rinse, and they're ready to go.

Finally, I used the tin to house three 4" pots of herbs on my south-facing kitchen window sill. It has a traditional yet stylish look, and it's easy to snip off a few sprigs of thyme or marjoram while I'm cooking.

This is a great value -- and a wonderful housewarming gift!

Shears Review Love My Steppin Edger
Best money I ever spent for a garden tool! I had a friend come over to see it, who thought it was so much fun he edged my entire flower bed. Easy on the back, easy to see where you are going, gives a nice, sharp, crisp edge to your beds with little effort. Highly recommend this to anyone who dreads the task of keeping the grass at bay from the edge of your beds...

Shears Review Indispensible!
This tool may not get used every week, but it is one that I will not be without. In fact, I have just purchased my 3rd one because it keeps disappearing! It makes trimming the yard almost fun it is so easy to use and makes such a big differance in the appearance of your yard and garden. I am 65 years old and not inclined to do yard work unless it is very easy, and I almost can't wait for the grass to grow so I can use my trimmer again. My son also uses it to dig a trench in which to lay wiring or pipes underground without having to dig with a shovel. I recommend the Steppin' Edger to everyone.

Shears Review Good for straight cuts
This item connected easily to my drill and seemed securely fastened. It is light in weight, so cuts on surfaces that are not horizontal work well. It is eaasy to follow a straight line cut with this tool. Arc cuts are possible, with gentle curves, but don't plan on doing any pattern cutting, which is probably true of any of these style cutters.

Definitely a great and well-executed tool, and it is nice that it can swap between a cordless drill for remote cuts, and back to a corded drill for bench cutting.

There is no flying dust from the cutting process, although there is a slight amounnt of waste (1/4" or so) from the cut. Be sure to practice cutting along a scribed mark on some scrap before using on finished work, and think before you cut to be sure to leave the waste on the correct side, away from your measured piece.

Shears Review Dust Free Fiber Cement!
After using a circular saw, this product is superb. Easy to attach and remove, a great price/performance ratio. I love it.

Shears Review Excellent Value / No Dust
This works very well, so well that I did not use my saw for anything except plunge cuts around windows. Absolutely no dust at all. Very satisfied. This is very much a quality product. Anyone putting up fiber cement siding should have one. I had no problems at all with this and I expect it to last for some time yet.

Shears Review Disappointed expectations
I love good hand tools and have bought and inherited many of the best. After much shopping research, it appeared that this Corona Clipper 37" Professional Super Duty Bypass Lopper would be a great addition to my tool collection. Unfortunately, I can give it only two stars for being ruggedly built and having a good sharp blade, because the performance has been a disappointment.
Recently, I've been trimming a lot of trees, (honey locust, cottonwood, silver maple, and oak) and I found that the lopper took a good deal of force to trim off small diameter limbs (<3"). For several weekends, I worked on these trees (14 trailer loads of brush and limbs) and I kept trying out the lopper. Though I am above average in strength, I found that I was doing much more work than the lopper was doing.
I just now came out the yard after attacking some 25 year old Manhattan Euonymus bushes. They were very over-grown and 10 feet tall. Some of the base vines were over 3" diameter. I wiggled my way into the tangled mess with my Corona lopper and found out quickly that this was the wrong tool to cut the base vines. To open the blade jaw, even for a small diameter cut, required that the handles spread open very wide, too wide for the tight quarters I was in. So I pulled out some old loppers I had, Fiskars 24" geared action. It did the job well. After pulling out the vine/limbs, I decided to test the cutting force of the Corona versus the Fiskars. The Fiskars required less effort to cut through the same limb. That's when I decided to write this review.
The Corona product has good quality materials, but the design is a dinosaur for effective cutting.

Shears Review Heavy-duty, effective and efficient
I've been using these loppers for a year and a half. They are enourmously more effective than any loppers at $40-50. Pricey, yes, but worth every penny.
The blade is of ultra-high quality steel, and so sharp, you would think you could shave with it. In fact, if you have kids, you'd better take care to keep them away from this tool.
The handles are tough and show no signs of weakening or cracking, despite dreadfully heavy use.
The manufacturer's rating on the maximum branch diameter is modest. In fact, you can cut much thicker branches with this unit - with ease. My use of a small chain-saw has dropped to nil.
The clippers are heavier than any I've used before. You notice the weight after a while. But, the speed and ease of cutting makes up for that.
I've found that storage can be a little tricky. When you hang the clippers, they have a tendency to swing open - and you -really- don't want that to happen with something this sharp. It takes a little playing to find out how to hang them securely (using the manufacturer-provided metal ring, and your own loop of rope).

This is a tremendously valuable tool. If you want the best, I believe these Corona clippers may be it. But, of course, you'll pay for it. In this case, however, I believe I've got everything I paid for, so I can give full marks in the rating of these clippers.

Shears Review Great loppers
I purchased a pair of these loppers several years ago for $150 and have used them for over 100 hours of work. Compared to a $40 pair of loppers which I purchased with a "lifetime warranty" and then bent the same afternoon, these loppers are wonderful. The hardened steel is extremely hard and around 1/4" thick -- I cannot imagine what it would take to make the steel fail on these loppers. As far as the handles go, I did eventually manage to break one of the handles after a couple years which I replaced with a custom-made handle fabricated from oak and some angle iron. These loppers slice through green wood like butter. The problems I've had with the handle originated from cutting through a dry branch which had been down on the ground. While these loppers are not unbreakable, they are by far the toughest loppers I have come across.
