Wrenches Review Spend the Money!
I hated the stock guard and spreader that came with my Unisaw. Like everyone, I took it off the first day and put in a drawer where is collects dust. I've had several pieces of wood kick back and the last one almost broke my arm. That convinced me I should make the investment in my safety. I saw this one and liked the idea that I could easily take it off to do dado work. It seemed [pricey] but a lot cheaper than medical bills and lost work. When it came I was surprised at how small and simple it was. It was a snap to install and I always leave it on the saw. I've used my saw 1,000 times since and have not had one single kick back. The only down side the spreader will not work with ultra thin knerf blades. Although it is pricey for what it is, this is one of the best investments I have ever made.

Wrenches Review Bosch Plane 3296
I own a large home and am remodeling it top to bottom. I recently purchased twenty doors that need to be installed throughout my home. Some of the doors do not fit and needed to be planed down to fit. I own several cast iron wood hand planes, but due to the extent of the work involved, I thought a power plane would be the best method of accomplishing this task.

I looked at Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Makita and Bosch power planes before I settled on the Bosch Model 3296K. It comes with a steel carrying case, a fence attachment and a rabebtring depth stop. It is lighter than the rest of the models I looked at.

In use, it runs very quitely, has an easy to use adjustment knob on the front to adjust the depth of cut, 1 mm at a time. The plane comes equipped with carbide blades that held up very well.

The front shoe of the plane has a v-groove cut into it to allow for chamfers to be cut.

I installed twenty doors and all of them needed some tweaking. The cuts were smooth and effortless.

I would reccommend this plane, Bosch #3296K, to anyone looking to but a power planer.

Wrenches Review Can't beat the original
Channellock makes the best tools out there. Heck there is a reason that almost every adjustable wrench is called a "Channellock". Great smooth adjustment that doesn't flop around with age. I now have 3 pairs of these, one in the car, one in the office, and one in the shop. Give em a try, you can't go wrong and they'll last forever.

Wrenches Review Works with Porter Cable Job Boss Compressor
While looking at impact wrenches, several people told me that they would work with a small compressor and several told me that they would not.
I purchased the Chicago Pneumatic CP7733-2 impact wrench and it worked fine with my Porter Cable Job Boss Mod. C3551 Air Compressor which has a 4.5 gallon tank and is rated 4.4SCFM @ 90PSI (max pressure 150psi). I set the compressor at 90psi (recommended for the impact wrench) and was able to remove all the wheels from my truck. I did have a problem with one lug after removing the other 5 from that wheel, but found that the wheel was in a bind. Once I jacked the tire up completely off the ground, the lug came off with ease. I then changed wheels on my dad's vehicle and it worked very nicely. It seemed to have plenty of power.
A CP Rep that I spoke with said this was a good entry level impact wrench. At one of the local tire shops I was at recently, it looked like they were using the same model impact wrench. I use mine for home use however.
During testing that I did with the impact wrench and my compressor, I found that when tank pressure was full at 150PSI, the impact wrench would hammer for approx. 20 seconds or so before the air pressure would drop enough that the compressor would need to pump up. In general, I found it necessary to let the compressor pump back up after every 4 or 5 lugs that I removed. A big compressor would be nice, but for home use you just have to stop and let a smaller compressor pump up once in a while.
One concern I have is making the lugs too tight. I had the impact wrench set on #4. After each lug was on, I hit each one again real quick. I then checked the lugs with a hand wrench and was unable to tighten them any more. I may purchase a torque wrench to go with this so I don't over tighten particularly on alloy wheels. I don't think this particular wrench is powerful enough to twist a lug bolt off, but I wouldn't recommend letting the impact wrench hammer away when tightening them.

    Wrenches Review Let's eat!
Out here in the boonies, eating utensils are danged hard to come by. So it's either use your fingers, or adopt the Uncle Hiram method of eating with your face in the plate (which is pretty effective, but awful sloppy). By golly, Cousin Buford brought this nifty wrench set to our most recent Sunday hoedown--to work on the '57 Edsel flatbed, mind you--but it weren't long before all these shiny tools were plucked away to help family and kin enjoy all the steaming vittles on the plywood table.

Can't go wrong with a 7-piece set ranging in size from 8mm to 18mm: why, now we have access to every tasty dish on the menu, from 'possum porridge to skunk scallops. And with the handy push button reversing, we could use these little jewels for both stirring and carving. The wrenches are made of chrome steel, which means Granny can drop them in the washbucket and they come out even prettier than Aunt Twyla's bridge work.

These tools got such a fancy name: CRESCENT FRRM7 METRIC RATCHETING BOX-END WRENCH SET. Ain't none of us know what "Metric" means, although we suspect it has something to do with one of them German philosophers who used to wear a helmet with horns on it. As for "ratcheting," heck, Uncle Hiram yells at us all the time to stop all the ratchet. And we quiet down, by golly. . .you don't want to have Uncle Hiram and his coon dogs mad at you.

    Wrenches Review Great Little Machine
Let's face it, for under fifty bucks, I wasn't expecting much in a benchtop belt sander, but this little baby filled my needs perfectly. It came out of the box and its styrofoam surround needing only to bolt on the table. The table is attached and adjusted using a nifty heavy duty spring loaded bolt. It came with an allen wrench to adjust the 90 degree stop on the table, but a quick check with my tri square showed no such adjustment was necessary. After fitting the table to the machine, I finished reading the instruction booklet and clicked the switch. It started verrrry slowly but after a minute it fired up to full speed. I turned it on and off and found this was only a one time nuissance, as it roared to life in nano-seconds on the second start. I used it to hone a curved corner on a pair of 8/4 table legs and the 100 grit belt (included) cut through the hard maple like a champ. The 1/5 HP motor is all the power this machine needs. It did make a sort of rat-a-tat-tat sound so I disassembled the side and found that by adjusting the belt tension the noise went away. I ordered four packaged of different grit paper at the same time as the machine, and ... took a couple weeks to stock all the grits before shipping. However, the machine was shipped separately and arrived in a few days.

I see Delta maybe discontinuing this machine in favor of the 1/4HP combination belt/disk sander. I saw that machine at ... for seventy bucks and wasn't impressed by the flimsy appearance.

Wrenches Review Dewalt 9 tool combo pak
I saw the Dewalt 6 tool combo pak at home depot selling for $625 ... I researched Dewalt tools on Amazon and came across this 9 tool combo kit selling for $685 les a promotional discount of 10% bringing my total down to $616. Amazon shipped it for free, which shipped out of Dallas where I live ... got the next day ...

I came back to write this review and the price is now $900. What can I say, timing is everything ....

The tools are awesome ... great quality (except jigsaw) and rugged. The hammer drill drives 3.5 inch screws into 4x4 like a hot knife through butter. I'm building a fence with metal fence supports and the impact driver is invaluable working with the metal ties.

The jigsaw is a little disappointing ... the release lever broke the first time I tried to change the blade ... saw is in the shop ...
