Heaters Review Works like it should, not sure if I just lucked out or something
Well there appears to be two 6707E listed on Amazon. One of them has several reviews and half of them are low rating making the final score 3 stars. I didn't want my rating to be dragged down because I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or if the other reviewers aren't setting their unit up correctly.

First off, this unit does what it should and the digital control makes it accurate. I have this heater in my newborn's room so I do TRUST that it is working correctly. I have a digital thermometer and humidity meter in the baby's room and the temperature is always within 0.5 farenheit of the setting I use on the 6707E. I don't think I could have tolerated a analog rotary knob from 0-6 which tells you nothing about what temperature the heater will kick in at.

Second, this heater is smart because the digital controller will pick lower wattage settings as the room comes up to temperature. That means it doesn't go to 1500watts and then 0watts back and forth, but rather jumps to 1500watts, then 900watts then 600watts then 0watts (off). This actually saves energy because it won't kick on at full power unless the room is extremely cold (in the situation where the heater had been off for a long time and needs to heat up fast).

As for the smell other people are complaining about... well I must just be lucky then. Because I followed all the directions that are printed in at least 2-3 places saying "the unit will smell when first turned on, so operate it for a few hours in a well ventilated area before use". I did try it out first inside the house and sure enough it started to smell. So then I rolled outside to a covered patio and brought an extension cord outside. I left it on for 5 hours and told it I want the temperature to be 90F to make sure it never turned off and thus forcing it to run at the full 1500watts (it was a cold day and I'm sure the winds never gave it a chance to go over 70F). After 5 hours of "burn-in" outside, I brought it back in and it has never smelled.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because as someone mentioned, the LCD is hard to read. Now granted, I don't consider that a "defect" as this reviewer did... I consider that bad design from the get-go that should have never been built that way. But it's not a defect where one guy gets a good LCD and another guy gets a bad LCD... I believe all 6706E are built with a bad LCD so it gets 1 star knocked off for not having a better design to position the LCD to read it easier. However I will say that this one negative point (which I was aware of before I purchased it) does not mean too much so long as you "set-it-and-forget-it". Because once you dial-in the temperature you want on the LCD and optionally set the timer up to run it, there really is no need to look at the LCD anymore. If there was a way to knock off 1/2 a star I'd actually give this 6707E 4.5 stars as this LCD problem isn't really bad enough to demote it by a full star.

So if you're looking for a silent operating, accurate setting, radiant heater, the 6706E should meet your expectation as long as you burn off all the smell before use.

Heaters Review Pretty good
The advantage of this oil heater is that it has an adjustable thermostat so if your room gets hotter it automatically goes down. That is a great advantage. It is very quiet, but not silent. From a few feet away if there is no noise in the room you can hear a small buzz. Most will not even notice. But if you are sensitive or have your own room, this may be something to take into account.

Heaters Review It Does What I Ask it to Do
I have two ceramic space heaters -- this one and a Holmes, and they each serve a specific purpose very well. The Holmes heater is not great at heating a certain location (as in one person in a cold room), as it is built to disperse heat. That design, however, makes it excellent for heating a small-to-medium room. I use the Holmes heater, therefore, to heat my office. The Titan, however, is more focused in its heating. I have trouble (more than most people) handling cold, or even cool temperatures. I use the Titan to heat specifically me, when I do not need the whole room heated, as those around me are fine. I would think that the Titan would also be great keeping a person warm while working in a cold garage.

Heaters Review Good heater, bad plug
If you are going to get this heater you might want to click over to the Tools and Hardware section and buy a heavy duty replacement plug too. I have two different models of this style of Titan heater and I have had to replace the plugs on both when the plugs overheated. Otherwise they are good heaters and a lot better than the same priced plastic-cased heaters. The thermostat and tip-over cutoff switch work well. I have used one for about 10 years old, and the other longer than that; they are built to last. Plug replacement is easy and takes only a screwdriver and something to cut off the old plug.

Heaters Review adobeair c500
The Adobeair C500 ceramic heater is one of the better ceramic heaters on the market. Its Compact design and automatic overheat cutoff make it a nice addition to any household. An oscillating function would make this heater even better. My family gives it 4 out of 5 stars.

Heaters Review Venting Kit
This is an excellent kit for any unit that will be vented horizontally that does not exceed 18 inches from the outside of your house. In other words, you need to be mounting the water heater against the outside wall of your home for this kit to work. If you are mounting your unit against such a wall and the wall is less than 18 inches in thickness, this is a perfect kit and will have everything you need. The only downside is that the kit does not do a good job of telling you how to install the required wall heat shield. A quick call to the company can provide you with the help you will need to install it.

Heaters Review Space heater
I like the programable side to this heater. You can program it to turn on & off when you want. The external trip switch below it is very handy and a good safety feature. These are the two main features that I not found in most other heaters. Overall as of today I have no complaints about it.

Heaters Review No timer manual override
An excellent heater is every way except that it lacks the one feature I needed for the specific way in which I wanted to use it. That feature: a manual override of the timer that would enable me to turn the heater off while the timer requires that it be on and vice versa. To use the heater as I intended I had to not use its timer and control it instead by means of an external timer with the manual override feature.

Heaters Review Rather powerful, light years above competition in appearance
I checked out the small ceramic space heaters being offered by Home Depot prior to settling on the RCH150. They WERE cheaper. Let us just say, they left something to be desired in the looks department.

Pros:

1. Very attractive. Form as well as function.

2. Very powerful. The "Min" setting is quite sufficient. You will most likely not need to resort to "Max."

3. You get heat from the first minute. FAST! Of course, this is a known feature of most ceramic heaters that have fans built-in, and is not some specialty of this model.

4. If MIN really is what the box says it is (800 watts), then this baby may be an energy saver...like other ceramic heaters.

Cons:

1. The unit, and even the manual, never tells you what wattage "low" and "high" are. Finally, I found out by looking at the box, after digging it out of the trash can. I do not care to be told "Min" and "Max". Just tell me the freakin' wattage.

For those of you who are interested - I notice the product description does not even reveal wattage (unforgivable!) - MIN is 800 watts; MAX is 1500 watts.

2. Tip this baby over, it keeps churning out heat. No tip over protection safety feature. Yes, I tested it. There is an "overheat" protection feature, according to the manual, but I did not really feel like testing that one.

3. The price is higher than the el cheapo Home Depot models. But, based on the qualities I noted above, maybe it is worth it. At least DeLonghi takes a little bit of pride in their product, instead of slapping a heating element in any old ugly box, like the major players such as Honeywell, etc. who ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Heaters Review Dimplex Ele F/P Insert
I was pleased with the realism of the flame function, but somewhat disappointed with the amount of heat it generates. I have a Dimplex stove-type as well and it outperforms the insert. Someone wanting the ambiance of a fire in the hearth, might consider how the Dimplex Stove would look in the firebox instead of the insert if heat is a primary consideration.

Heaters Review A Good Heater For One Room
The Holmes One-Touch Whisper Quiet Heater has a built-in fan that forces heat into the air. It also has an adjustable thermostat that allows you to set a room's temperature at 60, 65, 70, 75, or 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and you can choose 1000 watts or 1500 watts as the amount of electricity consumed. None of the electric heaters generate as much heat as propane, oil, or gas heaters, but this heater is good for heating one small room that doesn't receive as much heat as the rest of your house. Its internal fan provides more heat than electric heaters without fans, and the adjustable thermostat does lower the cost of an electric bill. This heater might help you save money because of the rising cost of oil.

Heaters Review Cools well but noisy
Great in what the company says it does, but be prepared for the noise. Most of the noise appears to be produced by the fan which blows very strongly. Inexplicably, it seems there are only two fan settings: stronger and strongest. Engineering to avoid noise producing turbulent flow may also help. The grills of my two units also do not turn down due to poor fitting, either a design flaw or a production error.

On the other hand, customer service is great! The vinyl window kits did not fit my narrow windows, and they quickly sent me the foam ones for free.

Heaters Review Good for the buck, but not perfect
*edit* I must say that my view of this unit is cooling pretty quickly... I blew a fuse tonight and in my three years living here, I have NEVER blown a fuse. It must be using a lot of electricity. Also, yesterday was hotter.... about 85 degrees, and I have to say that even when I turned the temp down to 62/63 (lowest temp it goes), the room still felt a bit warm. I was very disappointed to see that. I am worried about when it turns 100+ or even in the 90s. My room isn't THAT big. It's probably 10 x 20". I am really worried about when I get my utility bill.... If I could change the # of stars, I would give it three stars...

*original* Two years ago, I bought a Panasonic wall air conditioner from Amazon. It weighed a gazillion tons, was impossible to install, and blocked my window view. Every spring and fall I dreaded putting in and taking out that unit because it was a horrible task! So, after that air conditioner popped out onto the street last fall while I was trying to unload it (I am very lucky no one was on the street at that moment or I literally could have killed someone), I decided to buy a portable air conditioner.

For the record: when you buy a portable heater, it is truly portable. You can pick the unit up and move it from one room to another and plug it in. Voila. It's been moved. But when I received my "portable" a/c unit, I realized it is not really "portable". You have to hook it up to a window or wall, just like a wall unit except that the main unit does not sit in the window, but on the floor. There is a bit of room for mobility within that space, but not much. I'm still confused as to how this unit is portable if I have to move the window section and reinstall at the next location. Maybe another reviewer will clear this up.

In the pictures, the unit looks so cute and petite! Not so. These units are HUGE. Not MONSTROUS, but the size of three 9 inch TVs sitting on top of each other... well... my Sony one, at least.

The manual is useless. Whoever drew the pictures drew them SO out of proportion it took me forever to figure out which piece was which. And they don't tell you how to install it. They show you one picture with an overview. I give the manual a D- (not a F because at least there was a manual).

The unit is VERY noisy. I miss my Panasonic in this respect. You will have to turn up your speakers, stereo or TV very loud.

My Panasonic could delivery very cold air without too much air blowing. This unit does great on delivering cold air, but you will get a lot of air blowing very hard, making papers blow around and the curtains blow, etc.. That is probably the most annoying aspect of this unit.

The air is very cold and in this respect, very very good.

The remote is good. You have to buy your own batteries (ahem.. other brands I bought GAVE me two batteries, but no biggie).

The windo parts don't fit my window so well. I will have to tape it in. It's not horrible, but I guess good considering this thing needs to be compatible with so many different windows.

The air vents are supposed to be moveable, but I cannot get it to move horizontally, so the air is always blowing up. The vertical vent either goes to the left or to the right - not to the middle. (*edit* It does go to the middle, but it wouldn't stay until I used the unit several times.) I don't understand why they made it this way. That's another annoying aspect.

I bought this unit because I read an article that said it was one of the best selling units. I can see why. It's affordable but works well. Also, I only found one review on this unit online so I decided to give it a chance. This product could use improvement, but it could also get more expensive. With all of that in mind, all in all, I give the unit a B. If I really consider price points, I would give it an A. I definitely got what I paid for. I recommend this product... I think it was a fairly reasonable price.

I actually prefer my window unit, but I would pay the XXX bucks extra and put up with the noise and vents and large unit just so I don't have to install the darned window unit.
