Bad Product! The only reason that I gave it one star it is the lowest that amazon software will allow me to go, it deserves zit. I am writing this so you may save your money. I am on my third heater due to the other replacements being faulty and just cheaply made right out of the box. I have one on my desk now my help is cold its Sunday and I am in a bind. The knob has caught on fire before and it ignites behind the screen. I have another heater that I would like to suggest for you to get I have never had any problems with it. It is a Paulin and it's trouble free heat. Their website may be found at www.bpproducts.com It does not get cold in the deep south but when it does its darn cold and you need a dependable heater. sign Rebel Yell

Poorly built and noisyI've had this heater for two years now. It warms up the room well as you would expect, but is quite noisy when it is on.
However, the biggest problem I have with it is its poorly built construction. The heating and fan mechanism is riveted onto the frame instead of screwed on. That may be good and well, but if it gets knocked over a few times, the rivets become loose. There's no way to fix them! Thus, the heating mechanism is dangling inside the case with no easy solution other than returning it for replacement in warranty. If it had been screwed in, it would simply be a matter of tightening or replacing the screws.
This is especially disappointing because this is supposed to be a utility fan. One expects that a utility fan could be a little more durable than other types of fans. But when the rivets break after its knocked over, it becomes dangerous.

This is a crappy unit. This is the worst product on the market.
1. It broke down the first week i bought it. It literally stopped working only after a few days. I called soleus and it took them another month to send me a replacement. Guess what. The replacement broke down! I can't believe the crap they make.
2. When it did work, it didn't cool very well. Very loud and DOES NOT cool very well.
3. Drainage is a big problem. Supposedly you do not need to drain since the exhaust tube is supposed to get rid of the moisture. But it doesn't. On slightly humid days, you need to continually empty the drainage pan.
4. Their customer service sucks. Takes you literally a whole day to speak to a live person. And then they give you the run around. DO NOT BUT THIS PRODUCT.

SAVE YOUR MONEY BUY A DeLONGHI!!!I bought this item, because it's design and description sounded like a good thing. I received it, set it up, and read the directions. THE VERY VAGUE, and poorly written directions. In the product sales description (on line), it said there is an adjustable thermostat. THERE IS NOT ONE AT ALL! There is an INTERNAL thermostat that sets itself whenever it decides to turn ITSELF on or off. There is NO temperature read out, there is no control for you, the operator to set and tell it to continue on until the room reaches this temp. One of the features that attracted me was that there are two wattage settings...1500W or 900W. I thought, this would be great, when the room gets warm enough, I can lower the wattage setting, and save on electricity costs. AGAIN, YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE WATTAGE SETTING. IT'S ALL INTERNAL...the MACHINE does it when it wants to! I will type the description right out of their manual... "Economic Energy Saving Function (ECO)-When the room temperature reaches a certain point, the ECO green light will switch on, indicating that one-third of the power has been cut-off automatically to save energy." Problem is...IT NEVER STAYS AT FULL WATTAGE...within 5 minutes of giving off heat at a full 1500 watts, it will switch to the lower wattage...NO MATTER WHAT TEMP THE ROOM IS. I have Econo-Heat Flat Panel Wall Heaters in my living room (check them out THEY ARE INCREDIBLE!), and when we have these cold, cold nights, my living room goes down to below 60 at night. I got this space heater to compensate in the mornings to quickly warm up the space. But, with this damn machine automatically deciding on it's own to switch to the lower wattage...it's impossible to warm anything up quickly..or at all for that matter!! NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO KEEP IT AT THE FULL WATTAGE....IT DOES NOT WORK!!! Plus, there is no real indicator mark on the dial itself. You never know, is this where the full on setting should be...or is it here? Plus the directions give no indication either...you just never know what to line any of the dials marking to. THEN, HERE'S THE BEST PART!! In their direction packet they have a big STOP sign sheet that says, "Don't take this item back to where you bought it, CALL US...here's our 1-800 number, we'll be glad to help and answer any questions." I called them for four days straight and all I ever got was an answering maching. Finally on the 5th day I left a message. I wanted someone to explain the internal workings of this machine so that I could have some control over the wattage settings. That same day I also sent them an email...to this day I have heard NOTHING...no phone call back, no email...NOTHING!!! How's that for customer support! WAIT.... THERE'S MORE... I figured, well as a last resource I can put this machine down in my basement to help keep it warm so my pipes don't freeze (cold upstate New York winters). Another "feature" of this machine is that there is what's called a "Snowflake" setting, especially for use in basements. You plug it in, put it on the setting (again not really knowing where to really line the little snowflake image up to) and The machine will automatically come on when the room reaches below 41 degrees. Well, I keep a thermometer in my basement...when I placed this heater in my basement the temp on the thermometer was 38 degrees. That means as soon as I plug the thing in, it should turn on, right? HA!!! Fat chance!!! I stood there for 20 minutes, playing with the dial, trying to see what it did, and it did nothing! I went downstairs about 3 times during the course of the night, and though my basement kept getting colder, the heater never came on. URRRGGGGGGHHHH...I HATE THIS MACHINE...DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO BE MASTER OF YOUR HEATING DOMAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No customer support, broke after one week. The SoleusAir MS-14R stopped working after one week of very light use. The heating element simply burned out.
I attempted to contact customer service on two occasions. On the first attempt got an operator; however, when I asked for customer service, I was told "call back in an hour, he is on his lunch break". So they only have one customer service representative?
I didn't call back in an hour (I forgot about the soleusair). I called back a few days later, all I could get was a machine.
I will not buy another SoleusAir product.

No tip-over switch! False advertising.I ordered the Dakota 157 Portable Electric-Oil Filled Radiator Heater because it is advertised as extra safe, including "tip-over switch." I have 2 little kids and safety is obviously a major concern.
The item arrived but there was no tip-over switch on the radiator. On the box the list of features did not include anything about a tip-over switch, and the manual says nothing about it either. I am therefore returning the product.
I have requested that Air-and-Water pay the return shipping because they made a mistake in their advertising. I'm waiting to hear whether they will or not.
Air-and-Water says that "The Dakota 157 puts safety first with a cover that prevents children and pets from coming into contact with the heating elements." This seems misleading to me since the exterior heats up every bit as hot as any other oil-filled heater I've ever seen.

If reliability isn't important to you...I placed an order to purchase a Sunpentown portable air conditioner and went to their facility in City of Industry, California to pick it up. When I arrived, another gentlemen was there to pick up his WA-1230H that was in for repair. This got me concerned about the purchase I was about to make so I asked him some questions about it. It turns out that this was *** THE THIRD TIME *** he had brought his AC in for repairs. After the second time his unit broke down, Sunpentown provided him with a new one (which was the one he was picking up from being repaired that day). He told me that the first time his AC broke was within 3 days of purchasing it. 2 separate units breaking down a total of 3 times = YIKES!
Needless to say I began feeling very uncomfortable about throwing down almost $500 on an AC (WA-1220H) that I was no longer confident in. I asked one of the employees about the reliability of the air conditioner I was about to receive and he said it was "good." "So it's not great or excellent?" I questioned. He laughed nervously and then went on to explain that the reliability depended on how the unit was treated (during transport, whether you had pets and cleaned out the filters regularly, etc.). He didn't give off much of a confident vibe while he talked about the product. That, combined with seeing the poor guy picking up his AC after the third repair, provoked me to cancel my order and walk out the door. My gut feeling was that I would be very disappointed with this purchase and that I would have been kicking myself for not paying heed to the warning signs.
I've decided to not purchase a portable AC. Instead, I'm opting to look for a set up that's more reliable. It will be more of a hassle installing, but I will at least be able to enjoy the AC without worrying that it will break down.
