I got to use my trimmer a liitle longer than the previous reviewer. By my third use, the eye that holds the cord broke so that I had to stop the trimmer, unplug it and manually pull out the cord. This was annoying, but at least I could still use it. Finally the cord got stuck in the reel and I could not get the reel out to advance it. Sometime during those three days one of the brackets holding the guard piece over the whipping cord broke off too. This trimmer is on it's way to the land fill along with the 15 year old trimmer that it was replacing.

Well, I bought and used one of these, for about 10 minutes.

Here's what happened during those 10 minutes:

1)Vibration caused the clips that hold the plastic guard to the rest of the trimmer cracked and fell off.

2)Upon the very first "tap" to advance the string, the metal guide that feeds the string from the reel fell out and flew off never to be seen again.

3)By the third or fourth "tap", the main shaft developed a crack, and the vibrations from the motor ultimately caused the entire thing to break in half, rendering it useless.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but this is the absolute truth. I bought this thing to replace an old trimmer that lasted me around 12 years. Lesson learned.

I bought this product because it was cheap and seemed handy. When I received the package, the box was duct taped and looked like it was a returned product. The reel was cumbersome and did not wind up easily. The plastic keep going out of place and the hose leaked in several places. Not recommended.

I was excited to try this product this winter, but I have to say that I am very disappointed with the results. It has been a cold and snowy December so far in Wisconsin, and several applications of Bare Ground have only worked for short periods of time (several hours, but certainly not several days). The claim that the product will melt up to 3 inches of accumulating snow appears to be a bit of an over-statement -- I have had several 1-inch snows accumulate on top of Bare Ground soaked sidewalk as if nothing were there. Maybe I wasn't applying enough of the solution, but if that's the case, plain old rock salt is going to be a far, far more economical option (I would end up using several gallons of Bare Ground, which isn't cheap).

I had several problems with this product: (1) the token counterweight, intended to keep the one side of the chain with teeth in contact with the branch did not do its job, and I found it impossible to turn the chain over once in place; (2) too few teeth; (3) very easy to find the "saw" trapped up in the tree. Due to the hazards associated with pole-mounted chain saws (see other reviews) my next try will be a pole saw.

I bought one from a reseller and it leaks under household water presure, seller asked me to contact the manufacture, manufacture does not respond at all. So I ended up with an expensive leaking plastic bottle.

If you must buy one of these, make sure you can return it in case of problem.

I bought a flat hose last year and I hated it.

I don't think this was the flat hose I tried but the first thing I hated was that the flat hose had to be completely uncoiled to operate. This is logical since water can't expand throught the flat tube until it has room to expand.

Then, after I completely uncoiled and coiled my hose a few times the hose then tore (btw, recoiling an expanded wet hose is a pain). Water was shooting out from a tear in the middle and the hose was now ruined. What a waste of money.

I also have one of those slinky hoses and it has worked decently for me for a few years now. I'll stick with the slinky hoses.

The European style scythe blade is superior in every way to the American pattern. The European is lighter, sharper and more ergonomic.

The most important detractor is that it is coated with a thick, slippery finish. The finish is cracking off at the top end of the handle making it jagged and uncomfortable for the bare hands. Why am I using bare hands you ask? Because the finish is so slippery that using gloves is almost impossible due to slippage. Once the hands get sweaty, it's all over. Finally, the handle is too long for my taste. Some might like it but I certainly don't find it to be an advantage. I reviewed the head separately, that is well made but far too light to be effective. Suggest you buy one where you can see one and get a shorter, non-finished handle.

The handle fell apart after a very short period of time. Perhaps I just got a defective one. *shrug*
