I got this kit from my local walmart for $39 a couple of years ago. The grass shearer is very easy to use and the other tools come handy in various garden jobs. With Amazon one-day sale the price is $22.99 - what a great deal!

I can't believe someone reviews a product without actually owning it, that isn't fair to the product. Anyway, it DOES include a battery (not sure exactly what type) but it's inside of the grass shearer. Just plug it's cable into the A/C and it charges. When it's ready to be used, it works like a charm in hard to reach areas of the garden. For me, I find it especially useful around patio lights that can't be mowed around easily. I'm sure I'll find other areas of the garden too!

The included tools are very nice. They have rubberized grips and look like quality tools. The kneepad could be a little softer, but it'll do. The hand pruner worked perfectly to oust a HUGE weed in the garden. Gloves are decent too.
The carrying bad is large, tough, and better than expected. A great addition!
It even comes with a 30-day no risk satisfaction guarantee. How can you go wrong for $24.99? If you bought all these items seperately, it'd be way more than that. Just a pair of garden gloves can be $15!

We just moved into our first single family home less than a week ago and I took a risk and pre-ordered this Black and Decker gardening set. It's a perfect set. Great for first time home owners like me, who literally don't own one gardening tool! (NONE!) A great set, and I am happy with it!

Best money I ever spent for a garden tool! I had a friend come over to see it, who thought it was so much fun he edged my entire flower bed. Easy on the back, easy to see where you are going, gives a nice, sharp, crisp edge to your beds with little effort. Highly recommend this to anyone who dreads the task of keeping the grass at bay from the edge of your beds...

This tool may not get used every week, but it is one that I will not be without. In fact, I have just purchased my 3rd one because it keeps disappearing! It makes trimming the yard almost fun it is so easy to use and makes such a big differance in the appearance of your yard and garden. I am 65 years old and not inclined to do yard work unless it is very easy, and I almost can't wait for the grass to grow so I can use my trimmer again. My son also uses it to dig a trench in which to lay wiring or pipes underground without having to dig with a shovel. I recommend the Steppin' Edger to everyone.

This small, light weight trimming/edging tool cuts in 9-inch swathes at a time. Because of its size, it is more controllable than the larger (12" - 14") trimmers.

The larger, more powerful trimmers are not suitable for many lawns. I took back one because of its imprecise cutting. The powerful motor resulted in the shredding of a wood edging that separates the lawn from an adjacent mulched area.

One problem with all trimmers is that there is nothing to catch the flying bits of lawn. The only thing that might help in the future is to lay a sheet over the mulched area adjacent to the lawn to catch the cuttings, and move the sheet as I go along. Perhaps this should come with a sheet? Again, the smaller, less powerful machine's precision reduces excess trimmings. This is also a less noisy machine and is easier to store than the more powerful trimmers.

Features include a trimming option so that you can trim lawn under protruding bushes or around rocks, etc. There's also a locking feature for the electric cord. YOu do need to occasionally "bump" the machine (literally lighting hitting it against the lawn) to advance the cutting wire, this takes a little practice to get right. However, the learning curve is fast, after a few outings I thought this was a useful machine and money well spent.

Their "pump action" grass shears is the latest addition to my Corona Clipper collection, and it's certainly worthy of the Corona name, with the solid heft and smooth cutting action that characterizes Corona's entire line of cutting tools.

This thing is remarkable in how handy it is for snipping grass next to the sidewalk, around the mulch beds, next to the house, around trees, along the fence, under the deck, and anywhere else your clumsy lawnmower just doesn't quite get to - and you don't want to grind against with an equally clumsy string trimmer.

Granted, it's not the lightest grass shears you can find, but after a couple seasons of buying those chincy featherweight brands, you'll be relived to finally have one that really works and won't have to be replaced ever year. A little oil after each use, and this thing is likely to outlast you!

The American Gardener Cordless Grass Shear, GS48 4-Inch 4.8 Volt, is a good grass shear. Generally, only the Sears Craftsman is better; however, it is considerably more expensive.

I purchased a pair of these shears last month after my Black & Decker ones wouldn't charge so I could use them for the season. I first thought I could do without something like this, but found that wasn't true. I chose these instead of another Black and Decker, because I liked the idea of a wider cut and more power. So far, I have been well pleased with the performance of these shears, and the ease with which they handle going around and up close to things where even a weed eater won't go. This is actually my 3rd pair of those type shears, so I'm really sold on them being a necessity in the yard especially if you have such areas where a weed eater type won't go and do a neat job. These shears do that, and as mentioned, so far, I am very well pleased with their performance.

The cordless grass shears are the very best I have ever had. I have several pairs due to all the trimming that I do. I hate weed wackers, they are messy and hard for me to control. These grass shears have a nice long power charge and the width of the blade and the sharpness makes my job so much easier for me. In rescent years I had bought Black n Decker. After ordering these. I have only used once, but it works great. It doesn't have the power to cut through any big stuff but works great on the small stuff. I highly recomend.

I've got 25 or so small-medium shrubs and rose bushes, and this tool works perfectly for them. One charge will get me through all 25 of them (some need lots of trimming, some only a little).

Note: this will not cut branches as thick as a pencil. You'll want a different tool for that. Some of my shrubs have some branches that thick, but I just use a hand cutter for those few branches.

I really like this device. It holds a charge well. It has power to cut. I have only had it a few days now but so far so good. Great price. Easy to change attachements.

While I like the electric (no contribution to global warming), and found this trimmer easy to use, I tried to trim back spreading ivy, which has a woody stem. This causes too much stress and vibration to the black plastic "shield" -- which is secured by one tiny screw. The screw stripped out of the soft plastic and the shield flew off. I was lucky there was no injury. Trimming grass or soft weeds may not cause this, but I DO NOT recommend this trimmer for anything heavier. (I have not yet investigated repair/replacement: will update review with this information)

Lightweight, good power, auto feed is sometimes stubborn...just sometimes, overall a good product!

I had a gas trimmer/edger before this (I still have it). This is an excellent equipment for the following reasons - Low price, saves gas (Electric), Light weight (No battery), powerful trimmer & edger, autofeed.
Downside - Uses lot of line. This uses one spool for about 3 cuts (depending on the size of lawn). You will need a long power cord (100 ft).
But it is still worth more then its price.

I got the trimmer about 4 months ago. It worked great and I had no problems with it--until i got into a piece of woody plant among the weeds. The trimmer jammed, I unjammed it, and it has not worked properly since. The problem is that the drive mechanism is a strange plastic loop with an excentric cam-type drive. The plastic cam runs inside the plastic loop that rides freely in the blade and basically pushes the blade left and right. The oval plastic loop apparently got buggered just enough when it jammed that it now will not stay in place and the result is that the motor runs but the moving blade doesn't oscillate. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble figuring out how to return it, get repair work done, or anything like that so I may be stuck with a basically good device that doesn't work.

This order is the second pair I have purchased. This new pair is for an elderly relative, I also ordered the handle attachment for it for her. Before I gave that to her I tried it on my shears, that is probably going to be my next purchase. The shears are lightweight and they do hold their charge for at least 45 minutes.

This clipper is a big scissors, that's all. There's no rotation of the blades relative to the handle, as the ad on Amazon says. My pair is OK, but the spring is a real workout machine, and I'm wondering how to lighten it a bit. I find that the shears gum up with grass juice very quickly, and then the blades bind (won't open with the spring). I carry a wrung-out rag while I'm trimming and wipe the blades quite often to keep them free of drying grass juice. This works, and I'm able to keep on snipping for as long as I want. The shears are sharpenable, and the construction seems strong. I really would like to ease that spring -- that stiff spring is really my only beef with these.

McCulloch MT2027 3.7 Amp, 12" Twist & Edge Trimmer is cheap but reliable for yard/garden work. Easy to use and light, a convinience for any person.
