Hoes Review So simple yet so useful
In my townhouse's small backyard, I needed to aerate the heavily compacted soil on the cheap. This tool is so simple, sturdy, and just plain perfect for the smaller yard I have. Make sure the soil is a little moist (not wet) before using to let this job go really quickly.

Hoes Review Nice cores for small trouble areas
Hound Dog products I've used seem to be great. I have the flat faced shovel and the weed hound in addition to the core aerator. Making plugs is nice and easy. The limiting factor is how hard or rocky your soil is. It is best to do the coring when the soil is moist, otherwise the effort goes up.

The 2-core aerator can easily do trouble spots and also small areas that commercial plug aerators cannot access. It seems to be well made and works very well.

Hoes Review You'll like this hoe!
This is a great garden tool. Easy to use & quick too! I can weed an approx. 200 sq. foot area in just a few minutes. The size makes it easy to work around plants. Light weight so it won't wear you down. It's almost addicting once you start using it. I almost always end up doing more area than I intended to. A must have for anyone that wants to limit the use of chemicals in their gardening!

Hoes Review Scuffle hoes rock
If you don't like to get on your knees to weed and have enough arm strength to wield a hoe, then a scuffle hoe is just the best. With short back-and-forth motions, it rips up the first inch or so of ground, breaks it up, and severs weeds in the process. If your weeds have long roots this won't yank the roots out, but you can keep killing new growth when it comes up. Just mulch those severed weeds right back into the dirt.
This is also a great tool if your dirt is weed-free and you just want to loosen it up a little before planting.

Hoes Review E-Z Hoe
I sure do love my E-Z hoe. A fella normally shouldn't get too worked up about his hoes, but this is one hard working hoe, fo shizzle. Why just the other day, I worked my hoe all day out in the hot sun and didn't hear even one squeek of complaint. If you're looking for a good, dependable, hoe that doesn't mind getting a little dirty, then this is the hoe for you.

Hoes Review Best gardening tool
I am a professional gardener and this is one of my favorite tools. It's perfect for getting the little seedlings that pop up along with the ground covering weeds that are so hard to get rid of. It's easy to use and perfect for tight spaces. I always carry it with me and use it almost daily. I wouldn't go to a job site without it!

Hoes Review I will never buy another hoe.
My initial impression after twenty minutes of use: this is the hoe I have always wanted. It will never fall apart. It can cut through anything. If I get behind in my weeding, it will let me get caught up without killing myself.

The handle is nice and heavy, and a good healthy length. The head is broad , a little flexible, and really sharp. The head is attached to the handle with two bolts that are perpendicular to each other. Wow.

It can cut through the worst stuff in my garden -- dense grassy weeds -- like nothing. I have used maybe 10 different hoes in my life, and 3 or 4 different *types* of hoe. Now, I will never buy another one.

After I finished using it, I washed it. I have never done that before. (And the next morning, I found out that the head can rust, a little. I don't care. I will oil it. )

I'm pretty sure that, after they saw me using this thing yesterday, many of the weeds in my garden will probably just uproot themselves and find someplace else to live. They may be weeds, but they're not stupid.

Hoes Review Most Useful Garden Tool Out There
I have gardened with this tool for decades and am now buying it for my sons. This tool allows you to loosen and turn the soil as it weeds and add fertilizer. It's great for the soil, as rain soaks into the soil and down to the root. The gardener is able to place the hoe close to the plants without harming it. Many people now-a-days seem to like the 3 pronged weeder but then you must watch where the 3 prongs are at all times and it cuts a wider path. With this tool you only watch one point and just keep moving.

I'm able to weed a large garden in 20 minutes. It's GRRREAT!

Hoes Review Tool with multiple uses.
I often use this cultivator, both on a short handle and on a long handle, to break up the soil prior to planting or to loosen tough weeds. The tines are very strong. The tool stands up very well in our soggy Pacific Northwest weather and I haven 't seen any sign of rust. I expect this cultivator to last many years. I am very hard on my tools (using them for purposes for which they weren't designed and not always cleaning them off or getting them out of the rain), but I find the Wolf-Garten system to be very well made and own more than 10 of the various tool heads and plan to buy others. The tools heads can be quickly switched between long and short handles and the place where they are joined is very strong. An additional benefit is that tools generally not available in a long-handled form can be used while standing or quickly switched to a short handle. I highly recommend these tools for the avid gardener. This is a cost effective way to assemble a great set of diverse tools.

Hoes Review Ok in the garden, not so much for the field
This is a great lightweight hoe for use in a garden. I love it for weed control through the season. However, I also coordinate noxious weed control and need a scuffler for Teasle and thistle. This hoe just wasn't up to the task. My people destroyed three the first week out in the field, the week point being the way the knife connects. I am still looking for an ace hoe for filed and pasture work.

Hoes Review Great for mixing peat moss or fertiliser into soil
The flared tines make quick work of mixing in peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite in our wet sandy soil. Using it on one side or the other will push more or less soil since it has a swinging "bar" on one side and you can move a lot of soil on that side.

This tool stands up well to soggy Pacific Northwest weather and I haven 't seen any sign of rust. However, I have found the tool to "squeek" loudly when turning which indicates that serious friction will wear this tool faster than some of the other Wolf-Garten tools (I have more than 10 of the various heads and plan to buy others).

Warning: This tool is very sharp with long protruding pointed tines. If someone tripped on it, it could cause a serious injury (as could many tools, but this one seems especially dangerous). Be careful with it especially around children.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend the Wolf-Garten tools, including this one. They can be used both short and long-handled, are durable, well-designed, and useful for everday garden work.

      Hoes Review Weed Collector
It is a weed collector and not in a good way. Everything gets so tangled in the Garden Weasel that it is rendered useless in a few strokes. It does not till the soil very well at all, usually I end up with a very sore back the next day because I have overextended myself trying to get the Weasel to work. I have tried to use it on numerous occasions without success. I was really disappointed too considering the rating that it had on Amazon. I would definitely take it off of the essentials for new gardners list because it would surely turn people off to gardening.

Hoes Review Have to concur with some of the other posters
I was given a Garden Weasel as a gift some years back, and the idea of a new garden implement which would reduce hoeing and manually cultivating was promising; unfortunately however, the thing simply doesn't work.

Although the concept seems good, the times do not really dig up or cultivate the soil, it merely scratches the surface of it a small amount no matter how vigorous a back and forth motion you put it through. In order to effectively cultivate soil, tines need to rotate at relatively high speed (as in the case of a power cultivator, or dug in and lifted outwards and upwards like in a manually pushed cultivator), something in which the Weasel is incapable of.

For people with small to midsize gardens, my advice would be to invest in the little power tillers (e.g. Mantis and the like)as well as the old tried and proven traditional garden tools to effectively work their garden soil.

Like many ideas the Garden Weasel seems like a good one at first, but falls quite short when put to actual use.

Hoes Review Should be called a Garden Wiz
I've had my weasel for a couple of years now and I love it. I have a vegetable garden about 12'X12' and this weasle is a wiz in it. Excellent to use weekly to rid my garden of beginner weeds, if you use it regularly you won't have a problem with weeds.

It also works good to airiate bad spots in your lawn and break up the compacted soil for new grass to grow.
