Cordless String Trimmers Review A good idea, but needs more power.
This would probably work fine if you owned a condo or apartment and just a sidewalk and very small yard. The hedge trimmers worked the best out of the group, but I did have to make several passes before it got everything. The blower worked ok also, but again several passes had to be made. The weed eater was fine for grass, but it couldn't do anything with over grown ivy.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Ideal Yard Care Center for a 1 Acre Yard
I have used cordless grass/hedge trimmers in the past but have been only moderately happy with them as they are not very powerful and don't have long run times on a charge. I prefer them over gas or corded units though and so I have stuck with them.

Recently my old cordless grass trimmer died on me and I did some searching on the internet for a new unit. I came across the Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station during my searching and it seemed to offer significant improvements with the 3 interchangeable batteries and a 3 battery charger station.

We have about a 1 acre yard which is largely grass with some trees/shrubs around the house. With the 3 interchangeable batteries and the 3 battery charging station included with the CCC3000, I can get all the grass trimming done on one set of charges. The grass trimmer is powerful enough when running on a well charged battery. Same with the hedge trimmer which does a nice job on trimming yews, junipers, cedars, cottoneasters. The blower is a nice extra to get the grass/debris off the driveway and sidewalk. The package is reasonably priced and replacement batteries can be purchased. The batteries are recycable and the cost of recycling is prepaid.

I don't recommend items that I have purchased unless I have been very pleased them. This Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station is one that I recommend.

Cordless String Trimmers Review For Quick Light Work - It Is SUPER!!
For what this product is, it has exceeded my expectations. I wanted a lightweight, quick and easy cordless string trimmer and blower (with the CCC3000 you also get a light hedge trimmer as well).

Yes, it pulls the 18 volt batteries down quickly, but I have found on my "almost" 3/4 acre lot, that the three included batteries with this kit can trim my entire fence and curb line, and also blow my driverway and patio off without re-charging. Sometimes, I admit, I really need that fouth battery (am thinking about springing for another stand-alone 18 volt blower which has a charger and two batteries), but these tools are so convenient and lightweight, the quick run-down has really been a small price to pay.

I have heavy duty gas versions of each, but have used the trimmer once since buying this kit. I love these tools, and my wife thinks they are GREAT - she loves the switch on and go, along with the super light weight.

I would buy again. I am not easy to impress, but this kit has my vote.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Awful battery run time
This cordless trimmer will suffice for extremely small yards (think townhomes) without thick growth needing to be trimmed. This unit comes with two batteries, but both batteries need to be FULLY charged before starting a project. If you start a project, and place a charged battery in the trimmer, and a discharged battery in the charger, you will have about 20 minutes of runtime on the first battery, and will have at least another 45 minutes to wait before the second battery is ready for use.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Very pleased
This trimmer works like a charm. It is plenty good for trimming needs around the home. The automatic string feature is nice. I was always use to having to tap the trimmer on the ground to advance the string. This you don't have to do anything. You turn the handle which turns the head to edge the sidewalk. I bought this based on comments made on this website. I am am very happy with this purchase.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Black & Decker NST2018 Grasshog 12", 18 volt Trimmer
Great trimmer. No noise from a gas trimmer. No cord to lug around. Best to have two batteries ready. Charge on battery short on tough long weeds on grass. But the best trimmer I ever had, I would recommend this trimmer to my own mother.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Nice product, good design!
I've had mine for several years, and the battery just gave out. It was even stored in the garage throughout our frigid New England winters, kept fully charged. This unit has worked well to kept weeds and grasses trimmed on our 1/4 acre parcel. It's nice to just pick it up, hit the switch, and go.

Cordless String Trimmers Review An excellent long lasting trimmer
Have owned and used our Ryobi 150R cordless trimmer for over 4 years and other than adding new string it has worked flawlessly. This is a truely outstanding product.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Quiet, mobil, and maintenance free - I love it!
I bought the Ryobi 150r in 1995 and I love it. It has worked great for the past 9 years. I use it weekly. I have never run out of battery power during a job. I have a medium size yard, so I'm not sure how it would do on a large yard. The original battery lasted 5yrs; my second battery lasted 4yrs. Bought the battery at Billiou's (1-877-245-5468) www.billious.com for $26.35 plus $6.50 shipping. Also found it at M and D Mowers (www.m-and-d.com) for $28.49 plus $5.95 shipping. Battery part number is MTD-791-181624

Cordless String Trimmers Review Batteries are terrible
After being a loyal Milwaukee customer for many years, things at this company have changed. Approximatley 15 months ago I purchased the 14.4 drill. It came with a nice case and two batteries, along with a charger. The first 6 months everything was fine, however I started to notice that the batteries would wear down after 40 minutes of intermittment use. I only used the drill a couple of times per month. Now, after 15 months, the batteries are completley dead and will not accept a charge. Milwaukee told me batteries are out of warranty and offered no help, even after I explained that the drill is only 15 months old. I paid 179.00 for the whole kit and the new batteries are 65.00 per battery. The drill is now useless. Milwaukee has no idea as to the loyal and steady customer they have lost, all over some batteries. I would have accepted only one battery from them, but they didnt even offer that. I am done with Milwaukee. No wonder the Japense companies are doing so well. We Americans who try and buy American products are tired of companies who dont appreciate our business or loyalty. Next time I will try Panosonic.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Sturdy & comfortable, but short of torque at times
Overall, I am very pleased with the Milwaukee 14.4V 1/2" drill/driver. The construction is very sturdy. I accidentally dropped mine from an 8-foot ladder last year onto my concrete garage floor. At the time, I had a magnetic screw bit in the chuck which served to increase the bending force on the tool when it hit the concrete. The battery pack popped off. I re-inserted the battery and the tool has continued to operate normally.

The handle is comfortable and well balanced. I've had good luck with the battery packs. I use a pack until the drill begins to slow down and then pop it into the standard charger. No battery problems whatsoever over the two years that I have owned the tool.

On torque - I have had mixed results. I've used the tool to put hundreds of screws through Hardibacker down to subfloor with excellent results. However, I recently experienced what feels like a slipping clutch when trying to put 2-1/2" coarse-thread drywall screws into studs in a difficult position where I could not bear down on the drill with my full weight.

I like the tool, though when I eventually buy a new drill, it will be a beefier 18/19V or 28V tool.

Cordless String Trimmers Review possible fix for dead batteries
drill works great with a lot of torque. i like that it has 1/2"
chuck and power to go with it. had the drill less then a year and one of the batteries wouldn't take a charge. i thought it was dead. what i did was take an old phone charger the kind where it plugs directly into wall. i cut off the end jack and split and stripped the double wire. after using a meter to determine which one was (+) and (-), the single contact on battery is (+). i hooked it up to battery for a few minutes. battery is now taking charge in milwaukee charger. they do say don't let the batteries completely discharge so it seems it just needed a little charge for the milwaukee charger to accept it. hope this helps.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Poor design-- plastic neck broke with light duty
We have very light duty for this-- use it every other week for 10 min max. Unfortunately, it did not last more than 18 months before it design flaw was exposed: an all-plastic neck juncture that just cracked.

Avoid this one!

Cordless String Trimmers Review Great Unit but it doesnt last
We just burned up our third one of these, this one just slightly out of the warranty period. We love it, but we will be looking for something a little more durable...

Cordless String Trimmers Review Only complaint is ackward mechanism for attaching battery
I have a rechargeable mower and weed eater from Black and Decker. Both work on my yard great. I have had them for about 3 years a piece. My only complaint is the way the weed eater battery attaches and removes. You have to press a button on each side simultaneoulsy and push the battery off with a third hand or a shoulder, wall, or something. I would love to see a saleman or B&D expert demonstrate.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Two Years is Right!
I bought this trimmer exactly two years and 20 days ago. It does not work anymore. It was impossible to find someone to service it. Website and telephone number for manufacturer were not helpful.

I will never buy anopther Ryobi product.

Cordless String Trimmers Review battery is an expensive problem
I bought the 155vp version of this a year ago for use on a yard that is less than 1/3 of an acre. It worked well initially and was able to complete my yard on one charge.

This season (the trimmer's second), the battery is not keeping up as well. If my yard has gone more than a week and a half or so, it can not complete my yard on a single charge.

"No problem" you say, "you can swap the battery". Yep, that's what I thought too when I bought it. However, Amazon (or anyone else as far as I can tell) no longer carries the battery or external charger. When I bought it, they did, and for a reasonable price. I figured I would get it a couple of years later, when the battery started to wear down. No such luck though. It started wearing down after only a year and the battery is not on Amazon any more.

You can call Ryobi's parts vendor to get the battery and charger, but they are now 75 dollars. Add that into the price of this trimmer if you are planning on getting one. And buy the battery now, before the price goes up again.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Availability: This item is currently not available
too bad, too.
this is an excellent tool.

i don't know what all the fuss is about.
never had a problem with it, or its battery pack.

hang it on the wall in the shop, leave it plugged in at all times, use it in the summer, and clean it in the fall.

that's been my schedule with it, for 4 years now.

Cordless String Trimmers Review DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS JUNK
This has got to be the worst invention by TORO ever made. I bought this to replace another battery powered weedeater a RYOBI, I should have just bought another one of them, which is What I will do after this one is returned. EVERYTHING that you read BAD about this in all the reviews is TRUE and then some. In the first 10 second of using this I realized I made a very very bad purchase. too HEAVY string BREAKS........... trigger is a hassle I could go on and on but won't Take my word for it DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!!!

Cordless String Trimmers Review Clunky, heavy, reasonably powerful.
I'm in agreement with the others who are unhappy with this unit. It's heavy, the strap is inadequate, and the amount of hand power required to depress the trigger and safety is ridiculous. After 15 minutes of use, I can barely manage 30 seconds of on time (male, 36 years old, no degenerative skeletal or muscular problems.) The line does break frequently. It won't take down weeds with stems bigger than pencils. Since I own it already and my yard is small I'll probably disable the trigger safety and rewind the core with heavier line, warrantee be damned. Would not buy again, would not recommend.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Easy
Don't understand the reviews below. The "trigger" reqires very little force. It's a little heavy, but it's battery powered. My 5'0" tall 95lbs wife uses it and has no problems. I would highly recommend product.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Great little trimmer
This trimmer is a little heavy for a woman, but exactly what I expected and you can't beat the price. Works great.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Toro cordless trimmer
I would recommend this trimmer. My only basis for comparison is the Toro cordless with a 6 volt battery I used for probably 8 years with no problem until the battery died. I like this one much better. It has a 12 volt battery, so it cuts much easier and faster. It is heavier because of the bigger battery, but still light enough for me, a small 51 year old woman. I like the way you can make the edges look like you used an edger. I was unable to control an edger or gas powered trimmer due to the weight.

Cordless String Trimmers Review A Cut Above
This cordless trimmer is by far one of the best that I have owned. It's 12 volt battery is more than powerful enough for most household jobs. Who need a gas model when this Toro works just as well.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Dissapointed
I am very dissapointed in this product. I've owned it less than 2 years and it has already fallen apart and I need to buy a new trimmer. I have less than 1/8 of an acre and the battery only lasted long enough to do the inside or the outside of the fence, not both. So it would always take me 2 days to do the yard. The line jammed a lot and had to be refed constantly. I'm not buying another black and decker.

Cordless String Trimmers Review CarLee
Overall the machine is OK, my biggest complaint is the release mechanism, the string constantly jams and has to be pulled out manually.

Cordless String Trimmers Review Black & Decker CST800 8" cordless string trimmer
I was disapointed that power was diminished after 1/2 hour. I had recharged the trimmer over a 48 hour period.
