I have tried a variety of things to edge my walkways. I purchased my present lake-front home on 1 acre 3 years ago. The previous owners liked walkways and curbing and landscaping borders. I mean they REALLY, REALLY must have worked to get hundreds of feet of area that needs edging. With an irrigation system and lots of fertilizing, the lawn looks great--and grows quickly. So much so that turf seems to rapidly encroach on all the borders, walkways, even the bulkhead along the lake. Most of the walkways also have wood along both edges-I assume it is pressure treated 2 by 6 or something.

I tried a bladed edger but managed to chip away at wood and even concrete. String trimmers did no damage but were weanies-it took FOREVER. Then an e-mail from Country Home Products brought my salvation. I thought, "Why not? Let's give this thing a try." I am EXTREMELY pleased with the neutron trimmer. It works fabulously. I have not seen anything like it at the big guys (Lowes or Home Depot) or the smaller, local yard equipment dealers. The wirring of the electric motor is a delight.

Everything else I work with in the yard- the weedeater-on-wheels (also from CHP-GREAT!), my Troy-bilt lawn tractor, Toro self-propelled mower, blower-vac, etc- they are so noisy!! It is actually pleasant and relaxing and no effort to use the Neutron. I highly recommend it!

It is a professional tool, without doubt. It is a workout to weild this saw for even a brief period, though. If you are an exercise buff and are in great shape, you may not have any problems. It is quality made. Engine starts/runs fine. If you have to use this frequently, you might be able to cancel your membership to Gold's Gym !

In the past 20+ years as a homeowner, maintaining trimmed hedges around the front yard and around the garage side between my neighbors have always been a nuisance. I owed two electric hedge trimmers and one gas powered hedge trimmer. In the begining when the hedges were short and not so wide or deep, using the electric hedge trimmers was relatively painless. But as the hedges started to grow larger in size (height and width), the electric hedge trimmers was not doing the job anymore ... especially when the hedges were three to four feet wide and five to five-and-half feet in height. I am only 5 feet and 6 inches tall!! I had to use a ladder or step stool to stay ontop of the hedges to doing any kind of nice even trimming. Also the electric hedge trimmers got heavy after about 30 minutes. A job that should take no more than 1-2 hours to trim hedges on both side of the house was taking too much of my time. I decided to get a gas powered hedge trimming with 22 inch depth cut. I thought this would make my life easier. Boy, was I WRONG about that. It was painful just getting the trimmer to start (just like a gas powered lawnmower)and the trimmer was much heavier than the electric hedge trimmer. The last time I did any hedge trimming was during the spring when everything was in full bloom. This last experience left a bad taste in my mouth!!! PAINFUL! PAINFUL! I said that there must be a better way to do this job without hiring a landscape gardener.

Lo and behold, I happen to swing my local hardware store about two weeks ago and noticed this new Remington Hedge Wizard sitting in the aisle and the box was already opened. I inspected the product and said in my mind, I think I've found a hedge trimmer that is going to save me time and effort. But I knew nothing about this product and never heard about it before. The cost was not huge factor. It listed for 98 dollars (Online shopping cost was 109 dollars on the average). I debated whether to purchase the item for a about a week and finally this past weekend, I made the purchase. I used it yesterday morning and completed trimming the hedges. I have one that is about 40-50 feet in length and 3-4 feet in width. The other one is about 20 feet in length and 3-4 feet in width. The job was completed in little over 2 hours. Boy was I happy about that. I only drawback I see is that the hedge trimmer gets quite heavy because you're holding onto a pole on one end that has a somewhat heavy object at the other end. The trimmer side can ajusted from zero to ninety degrees depending on how you used the trimmer. I tried all the angles and found that just having the trimmer straight is fine. I definitely recommend this product to homeowners with large and length hedges to trim 3-4 times a year. It is a wise investment for a much used garden tool.

This replacement cart. works just like the original one. No complaints, I will order them again when I run out!

This is an awesome trimmer. TOP grade. Super easy to use, quiet, powerful, simple, great quality, comfortable, etc, etc, etc. I bought a $90 YardMachines before this, and it was a complete piece of junk. It is so worth the extra $110+ it's not even funny. This thing starts on first pull EVERY time, and like I said before, is very comfortable to use for long periods of time. I currently have only used this on one lawn. I used it for as long as possible, but finally had to quit because I ran out of things to cut...I highly recommend this to ANYONE looking for a trimmer, even if you don't want to spend $200.

WORKS GREAT, I HAVE USED THIS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THEY SAVE ME TIME AND MONEY.
PERFECT FOR A SMALL LAWN OR A LARGE LANDSCAPE BUSINESS.

This would probably work fine if you owned a condo or apartment and just a sidewalk and very small yard. The hedge trimmers worked the best out of the group, but I did have to make several passes before it got everything. The blower worked ok also, but again several passes had to be made. The weed eater was fine for grass, but it couldn't do anything with over grown ivy.

I have used cordless grass/hedge trimmers in the past but have been only moderately happy with them as they are not very powerful and don't have long run times on a charge. I prefer them over gas or corded units though and so I have stuck with them.

Recently my old cordless grass trimmer died on me and I did some searching on the internet for a new unit. I came across the Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station during my searching and it seemed to offer significant improvements with the 3 interchangeable batteries and a 3 battery charger station.

We have about a 1 acre yard which is largely grass with some trees/shrubs around the house. With the 3 interchangeable batteries and the 3 battery charging station included with the CCC3000, I can get all the grass trimming done on one set of charges. The grass trimmer is powerful enough when running on a well charged battery. Same with the hedge trimmer which does a nice job on trimming yews, junipers, cedars, cottoneasters. The blower is a nice extra to get the grass/debris off the driveway and sidewalk. The package is reasonably priced and replacement batteries can be purchased. The batteries are recycable and the cost of recycling is prepaid.

I don't recommend items that I have purchased unless I have been very pleased them. This Black & Decker CCC3000 18-Volt Cordless Lawncare Center with Charging & Storage Station is one that I recommend.

For what this product is, it has exceeded my expectations. I wanted a lightweight, quick and easy cordless string trimmer and blower (with the CCC3000 you also get a light hedge trimmer as well).

Yes, it pulls the 18 volt batteries down quickly, but I have found on my "almost" 3/4 acre lot, that the three included batteries with this kit can trim my entire fence and curb line, and also blow my driverway and patio off without re-charging. Sometimes, I admit, I really need that fouth battery (am thinking about springing for another stand-alone 18 volt blower which has a charger and two batteries), but these tools are so convenient and lightweight, the quick run-down has really been a small price to pay.

I have heavy duty gas versions of each, but have used the trimmer once since buying this kit. I love these tools, and my wife thinks they are GREAT - she loves the switch on and go, along with the super light weight.

I would buy again. I am not easy to impress, but this kit has my vote.

I love this Black and Decker system that uses Auto Feed trimmer string. Very easy to install and no problems with the auto feed at all.

I love being able to take the old one out and pop the new one in. I can change it in less than a minute. No hassle, quick and easy.

I have owned several trimmers, those with long heavy cords to drag along, others with gas/oil mixtures that never worked quite right. Then came the Black and Decker auto feed system. I think it is fabulous! You just plug it on a charger and it is always ready for use, the spools could not be simpler to pop in. I highly recommend this product. Thank you Black and Decker!

This cordless trimmer will suffice for extremely small yards (think townhomes) without thick growth needing to be trimmed. This unit comes with two batteries, but both batteries need to be FULLY charged before starting a project. If you start a project, and place a charged battery in the trimmer, and a discharged battery in the charger, you will have about 20 minutes of runtime on the first battery, and will have at least another 45 minutes to wait before the second battery is ready for use.

This trimmer works like a charm. It is plenty good for trimming needs around the home. The automatic string feature is nice. I was always use to having to tap the trimmer on the ground to advance the string. This you don't have to do anything. You turn the handle which turns the head to edge the sidewalk. I bought this based on comments made on this website. I am am very happy with this purchase.

Great trimmer. No noise from a gas trimmer. No cord to lug around. Best to have two batteries ready. Charge on battery short on tough long weeds on grass. But the best trimmer I ever had, I would recommend this trimmer to my own mother.
