After my second use, this trimmer went to the curb for trash collection.
Never could get it to feed line correctly; had to pull line out by hand. Purchased a second head [operator error?], which ended up in a knot of line.
The cutting head flops around, and even with duct tape, still could not cut a straight line.
Sorry I ever left Craftman.

Used the trimmer twice and went back to my old tap-n-go line advance. The trimmer head on this model feels loose, making it difficult to judge cutting path when edging, and seems to wobble when in use. The line advance was erratic and unpredictable so if you felt you needed more line you just had to wait, and sometimes got more than you wanted. Always had great success with previous Weed Eater electrics, but didn't like this trimmer at all. Gave it away and reluctant to buy another WE electric trimmer.

This the second one I've owned. I wore the first one out using
to heavy line. I had two new replacement spools of line so I
ordered the same Weedeater. I like the the self feed aspect of
it and it handles the trimming I have to do real well. I couldn't find a replacement at the dealer where I bought the 1st
one, so ordered it from Amazon.

I have experienced the battery problems too. After two seasons I can't even edge my small, urban front lawn (the whole property if 60 feet wide so there's really not much edging to do) on one charge.

OK, I got that line while reading someone elses review. Like the others who made comment, I purchased mine at Costco and really enjoyed it for the first year. I had a large lawn (Approx 1/4 acre) and for the first year, it worked great. the second season, it would barely make it without a recharge. That is assuming I didn't go more than a week between mowing and the grass was completely dry. Last season I moved and my lawn area was not even half as before. (season 3) I had to edge the front, put the edger back in the charger and by the end of the day, I could go back and barely get the back done before the battery would die. I have been searching for a replacement battery to no end and only the manufacture seems to have the replacement at $65.00 plus shipping and tax. Talk about BS! What a shame, a simple battery replacement would make this a great product, but the insane price for a replacement makes this a poor choice with so many other options out there. In either event, I feel better now that vented.

I've been thru more than a season with this and it's been great for trimming about 1000' of edge and blowing about 100' of sidewalk. It's bween doing this on a single charge. Solidly made and will probably last quite a while.

I'm hoping that a Powersonic PS-1270F2, available thru Amazon will replace the battery when it goes. A little duct tape will be needed since there's a custom plastic bracket glued on to the original battery.

Chargers are also available from the Amazon partner.

I only got as far as reading the directions for this item, It required 18 hour initial charge and then after a max usage of 35 minutes It requires 7 to 8 hours recharge to attain 50 percent battery charge

This is only a package containing 120 feet of line, nothing to do with a speed spool.

These spool lines are nice and round, and when used properly cut pretty good, too!

I bought and returned 2 of these trimmers. The first one was used all of 5 minutes when the part that is supposed to rotate the string stopped spinning..the motor was still going full speed - the string head just wasn't spinning so I exchanged it. I used the 2nd unit twice. Both times the battery power depleted to next to nothing within 10-15 minutes - this after being on the charger OVER 24 hours! I called the B&D 800 number and was told the expected battery time for this unit was 15-20 minutes (which is not mentioned anywhere in the owner's manual or on the B&D website). I do not have a huge yard but I could barely get it finished before the battery died. I ended up taking the 2nd unit back last night and am going to get the Toro 8" cordless trimmer. It doesn't have the edger feature but I know a few people that have it and love it - plus the battery life is 45 minutes - more than twice as much as the B&D.

I would love this tool if only the charge lasted longer. It runs for approximately 10 minutes, 12 at the most, then the charge is done. Unfortunately I lost my receipt so I presume I cannot return it. The machine does a nice job of edging which is mainly why I bought it, but I'm very disappointed because I can only use it for about 10 minutes at a time, then have to put it on charge for another 24 hours.

This trimmer has given me nothing but trouble from day one. The "easy feed" bumper spool dual-line system did not work, so I replaced it with a universal easy-load head. Then, the transmission gears worn down & the trim head wouldn't turn. I replaced that unit for $60 (my own labor).
The unit has always been difficult to start, & requires excessive pulls to get it to ignite.
This has turned me off of Ryobi products, probably for good.

owner shaft has dual pins inside if they strip you lose out on your trimmer never buy this product. used it only around house no commerical work.

I've had several string trimmers and this is by far the hardest one I've ever tried to start. I've spent as long as 20 minutes trying to start it. When I finally get it started, I'm too tired to trim. Would not recommend it to anyone.

I had the same problem with the nonfunctional string feed as the others. Additionally, the handle often came off. The handle is clipped onto the wand and is held in place by friction. There is no bolt to hold it securely in place. Finally, shield was coming loose because the plastic split in the place where it is attached to the motor.

My previous trimmer was a Toro and it gave me many YEARS of service.

When I first used this one, it was immediately apparent that it had a much less powerful motor than my old one. This model was much larger than my old one so I expected it to have a MORE powerful motor.

Toro should reintroduce some of their old models that were designed to give service rather than conform to the latest fads in industrial design.

Right out of the box, this trimmer never worked right. The line either feed itself out within minutes of use or disappeared completely inside. I spent more time on my hands and knees trying to get the cord to work right than I did using the trimmer.
Also, my heavy duty extension cord would fall out of the socket too easily---well, maybe just in time for each pause to deal with string.
Definitely a flawed design. I had a Black and Decker before this that worked pretty well for a couple years- as a point of comparison.

Toro trimmers have a basic design flaw. Note all the people complaining about the line feed on this trimmer. This is not the only Toro model that has this problem.

Like most trimmers, as the line gets shorter, you bump the trimmer on the ground to feed more line. But, with the Toro trimmer, the line breaks too close to the spool. So, you constantly have to stop, take it apart and manually feed more line.

Also, the bump process does not work very well. You have to bump the trimmer and hold it down for awhile to get the line to feed. It almost never works on grass. It does work if you bump it on concrete, but it leaves a black mark.

The pity is that the Toro does a very good job of trimming. It just takes a long time to trim even a small area, because you are always having to take it apart to get more line.

Amazon lists this item as fitting the Ryobi 155R. This is incorrect, as I bought one based on this item discription and it did not fit. Not worth the hassle to return, but annoying mistake by Amazon.com.

this is listed for the 155r ryobi cordless but it is not. I ordered this and found out it is not the right one. Even the back of the box does not list the model 155. Why does Amason still say it will fit?????

I got to use my trimmer a liitle longer than the previous reviewer. By my third use, the eye that holds the cord broke so that I had to stop the trimmer, unplug it and manually pull out the cord. This was annoying, but at least I could still use it. Finally the cord got stuck in the reel and I could not get the reel out to advance it. Sometime during those three days one of the brackets holding the guard piece over the whipping cord broke off too. This trimmer is on it's way to the land fill along with the 15 year old trimmer that it was replacing.

Well, I bought and used one of these, for about 10 minutes.

Here's what happened during those 10 minutes:

1)Vibration caused the clips that hold the plastic guard to the rest of the trimmer cracked and fell off.

2)Upon the very first "tap" to advance the string, the metal guide that feeds the string from the reel fell out and flew off never to be seen again.

3)By the third or fourth "tap", the main shaft developed a crack, and the vibrations from the motor ultimately caused the entire thing to break in half, rendering it useless.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but this is the absolute truth. I bought this thing to replace an old trimmer that lasted me around 12 years. Lesson learned.

Disappointed in performance, is under powered for most tasks. The machine is difficult to pull behind ATV and get close enough to fence to do and adequate job and then is easily bogged down by grass. The recoil action increases the difficulty in doing a nice job of mowing.The postmaster does have limited application along ditches but again you must move very slowly to allow machine to keep running this can be extremely difficult even in the lowest gear on an ATV. I have owned the postmaster for two years but after initial trial period rarely use the machine. Very disappointed.
