Jigs Review Nice tight smooth joint
I can't imagine doing a face frame without it. I have always used either a dowel or biskit joint in the past and sometimes still will but mostly those tools will be gathering dust from here on. I bought this Kreg Jig to do a set of 4 cabinet doors for a linen closet that I had recently built. All went extremely well the frames came out just like at the cabinet shop only doing it myself I got by for one tenth the cost. It was so easy that my next project will be replacing every door in my entire kitchen and instead of thinking of it as work I am looking forward to doing the project. This is one heck of a tool get one you won't regret it.

Jigs Review Every woodworker should try this jig.
Works very well for face framless cabinets as well as many other applications. Great product Kreg. R and Y Cabinets.

Jigs Review Easiest through dovetails ever
After doing a bit of research I purchased the Keller Journeyman jig from Amazon. The first set of dovetails I cut using the jig were perfect!

The only setup required is to screw the jig to a board of appropriate thickness. Once that is done you can start cutting perfect through dovetails of any length. It is even possible to vary spacing though that does require a (small) bit of thinking and planning.

Jigs Review Easy to use
This was recommended as being easy to use, but I was surprised at just how easy. What a great purchase.

Jigs Review Simple and safe
After cutting myself with a back saw making hand cut dovetails I broke down and bought this Keller DoveTail Jig. The dovetails this jig produces are beautiful and tight. I would recommend it to anyone.

Jigs Review You have to have this tool
I've never encounted a tool that worked better or easier right out of the box with no experience required to start producing quality work. I've been involved in woodworking for over 35 years and never tried pocket screw joinery before. I'm sorry I waited so long.

Jigs Review Great even for novice
This is a great tool even for a first time user. I made perfect strong joints fast and easy. The bit is good quality. I bought the tool after seeing it used in project in a recent Handyman Magazine. After using it(62 pocket screws)to build a bench with a shelf for boots & shoes I would highly recommend it.

Jigs Review Worked as expected
I have read about several projects using this jig in The Family Handyman. Well, I finally found one that I wanted to build, so I bought the Pockethole jig. I drilled over fifty holes to join a few dozen joints and the jig performed as expected. I have never used a biscuit joiner or dowels (or any other joint technique, for that matter) so I really don't have anything else to compare to. It has seemed like a good purchase so far.

Kreg Jig K3MS K3 Master System
Made by Kreg
  • Drill guide block is now interchangeable between the benchtop and portable bases.  Just loosen the locating pin, slide the drill guide out and place into other tool body.  The flexibility of two tools in one!
  • Benchtop base features patent pending front clamping design.  Puts the clamp handle on the same side of the workpiece you work on!
  • Spring tensioned clamp compensates for small material thickness differences without having to continually adjust the clamp pad.  Keeps you working instead of micro-adjusting a tedious clamp pad.
  • All the thickness flexibility you need¿ 1/8 settings for materials from ½ to 1-1/2 thick.  Also the fastest adjustment on the market.
  • Patented three drill guide fixed spacing puts pocket holes exactly where you need them for narrow, wide, and widest stock.  Narrowest 9/16 on-center spacing is the closest on the market¿ perfect for narrow 1-1/2 wide face frames.

Jigs Review Not quite what I'd hoped
Let me first say that like the K3 idea and I've had a K2000 for years and loved it. I like the idea of a single tool being utilized in two holders for both benchtop and portable work. It's also great that you can choose board thickness by just by a simple adjustment without having to remove or add parts.

Now, what I didn't care for was that the new benchtop system doesn't hold stock near as firmly as the K2000. This is true because I still have a 2000 and I've tested it because I thought it was odd that I could rock the material in the new K3 system benchtop system. The same stock (especially 1/2" material) was rock solid in the K2000. It's not enough to make the K3 unworkable, however it is enough that I noticed it right away. I wrote Kreg and they admitted that it doesn't hold the stock as firm but feel the other benefits outweight it. I'm glad I kept the old K2000 for benchtop work and use the K3 system like I did my old Rocket. In looking at the system, it became obvious to me why it doesn't hold stock quite as well - there is no lower support for the board and the face of the jig is now a polished aluminum instead of the glass re-inforced plastic which provides more friction. Additionally, the K2000 has a single ram which doesn't allow the clamp portion to move from side to side, where the K3 system does give a little.

I'm not down on the new tool, however this is a review of my experience and it defeats the purpose if I don't call it like I see it. If I had it to do again, I'd have remained perfectly happy with the K2000 and then just bought the K3 standard pack.

Jigs Review The barrel grip vesion shines, but see Ridgid for top handle
I own the barrel-grip version of this jigsaw and really like it; although, I had to buy it from Tools Plus since Amazon doesn't carry it. I especially like the 12' long cord.

I use the barrel-grip version of this jigsaw for a variety of remodeling tasks, but it's invaluable as a coping tool, particularly when working with hardwood crown moulding. To use the jigsaw for coping, I highly recommend replacing the factory foot with the Collins Coping Foot (from Collins Tool Company), which allows you to make all sorts of extreme cuts. The saw is held upside down so that it's easy to see the blade and accuratly follow the coping line, and this is where the barrel-grip version of the jigsaw comes in handy because it's so easy to grip upside down. There's no handle to get in the way. I'd give the barrel grip version 5 stars without reservation.

The other day I was dismayed to see the exact same saw as the top handle Metabo jigsaw for sale at Home Depot. The only difference was that it was marketed under the Ridgid brand and cost about $30 less than the Metabo. I looked at the Ridgid very carefully and it was identical to the Metabo in all ways except color. I suspect there must be a shared product licensing deal between Ridgid and Metabo. The good side of Ridgid selling the same saw is that accessories like the anti-splinter insert should be widely available wherever there's a Home Depot. The 4 star rating is because Metabo charges $30 more than Ridgid for the exact same jigsaw.

Jigs Review get rigid
This is the same saw as the rigid (Home Depot). I paid $149 for the first one I got. They went down to $99 with a lifetime warranty. I bought another. They are excellent. I also have a Bosch. These are just as good.

Jigs Review Power to spare
Anybody using power tools realises the benefit of having power enough to do the job and some to spare, it's a good feeling to realise that the machine is not going to tear its guts out inspite of it being pushed. Well this machine gives me that feeling when I'm cutting 2x timber with the orbital mode switched on to max. all the other features are just a plus, as far as I'm concerned, I want that work done well. That's not to say I don't appreciate the efficency of dust collection, or the low decibel of the motor whine. So go out and buy this machine it may be a few bucks more ... but it will not disappoint

Jigs Review Buy it
I have about 30 doors to hang. I bought the Classic Engineering 10800 and the Porter Cable 511. I received the Classic first and gave it a test drive through some scrap. It work so well that I never even needed to open the box of the Porter Cable and sent the PC packing.

Jigs Review Speaking from experience
Without question the best kit for machining cylindrical locks / latches short of going automated. The faceplate chisel templates assume that you want to hand chisel the faces which is fine unless you plan on being productive. With experience a mortising bit in a trim router gets the majority of matl out leaving you to trim the edges. Unless of course you make a faceplte jig and use guides. Porter Cable also makes a similar set but the framework is plastic and flimsy. Not what you want when your pushing a 2-1/8" bit thru a wood door with a 1/2" motor. Anyway if you dont plan on machining at least 5 plus doors a month make your own jigs. Porter Cable does make an adjustable faceplate jig. Very handy, changeover is quick but it does cost $210 +/- and requires of course a router.

Jigs Review Awesome Tool
I'm a contractor and do doors regularly. This tool works great! Very clean, versitile and easy to use with a corded or cordless drill. Thanks Classic.

Jigs Review 7 reviews before mine.. all 5 stars
That should say someting right there! Guess I will make it 8! I spent more money on a biscuit joiner and a bag of biscuits than I did on this tool! I had a drill by the way! Received both at the same time, was not sure which would work better. Anyone out there looking to buy a buscuit joiner (new condition, only used to cut 2 joints, still in it case collecting dust now)?

The DowelMax jig is going to make biscuit joining a thing of the pastas soon as more people realize how great this jig is. Biscuits = sloppy joints in one axis along the length of the buscuit. Dowelmax gives you an accurate alignment in all 3 axis of the joint and is almost as fast as a plate joiner once you get the hang of using the jig (watch the video that comes with the jig and then spend 5 minutes practicing and you should be a pro.. it is that simple).
Take a chance on the price... it is worth it!

One additional thought, if you think the price is a little spendy, consider the price of a biscuit joiner collecting dust instead of making some! I am still trying to find Some use for that joiner.

Jigs Review Excellent tool, very versatile
This is easily the most versatile doweling jig on the market. It lets you place dowels relative to a reference face with great precision. Note that this is a lot more useful than a standard doweling jig that only places dowels in a self centering location. Also, you can place sequential dowels with similarly excellent precision.

The tool is easy to use and the accompanying documentation and video is excellent. The jig is well made and sturdy.

My only gripe with the product itself is that it would be somewhat easier to use if it were slightly larger. The jig is only about four inches long.

Having said that, it is an excellent tool and a nice complement to biscuit and pocket hole joinery. It adds a lot of flexibility to woodworking. I would buy it again.

Jigs Review New to Dowel Joints
I am relatively new to building furniture and decided to try out dowel joints. Based upon research and other reviews, I decided to try out the Dowelmax. What a surprise! Even us who are considered a novice had success with the very first joint. It is so amazingly simple and accurate, its unbelievable. I have several furniture projects lined up and plan on using the Dowelmax extensively. The folks at Dowelmax had my jig to me in exactly one week, so I can't say enough about their responsiveness. The overall quality of this tool certainly speaks for itself. (It should have come packed in a fine mahogany box as it looks more like a piece of jewelry.) I expect it will last long after I am gone. Thanks Jim and the rest of folks at Dowelmax!

Jigs Review Finally retired the Bosch 1 578 1 Jigsaw
I've retired my 25 year old Bosch 1 578 1 jigsaw. This saw has given me excellent service for 25 years, it's only short comings are you need a special srewdriver to change the blade, it doesn't have a cut blower and you have to plug it in. The 52318 addresses all of these. It's a great saw goes anywhere and for me doing pickup work in unfinished house where sometimes the power isn't in that's important. The only thing I didn't like is the funny little wire guard right in front of the blade blocks my veiw of the cut, but a srewdriver popped it right out so everything is fine. Don't know if it will last 25 years but we'll see.

Jigs Review first long run cordless
Out of all the cordless tools I own this one does the most on a battery. I own the bosch corded jig and have not used it once
since having this one.

The tool is made tough, the grip and balance is almost perfect.
The blade change system is phenominal. If you break a blade just pull the lever and the hot broken blade spits right out on its own!! The put a new blade in just push it in!!!

The 18v jig cuts anything with the right blade and really you can use it most of the day before the battery dies out.

I would NOT recomend replacing your circular saw with it the battery is not that, good but for jig saw work it is the best
and will impress the hardcore professional.

I must correct a previous reviewer however, the battery is not NMH(nickel metal hydride) it is NCAD, which is the standard battery used by all tool companies. He is growsly mistaken and readers should always double check reviewers statements I find
many mis- informations written by novice tool users on the Amazon tool rewiews.

What is cool is that when bosch puts out a battery upgrade it will work on this tool, I just dont know why you would need it.

Top of the line tool. Bosch is releasing a new corded Jig saw
that is just like this one and I will not evan consider it,
because once you have this you have no need for the cord!!!!!!!

Jigs Review Bosch--Best on the Market
This is a first class, quality tool, if I could give it more stars I would.

Jigs Review Incra jig ultra review
while this jig may look a little complicated and unerving, don't be afraid of it. its really easy after you get it set up properly. its very precise so your table, router, fence, and mounting board must be as close to square as you can get. a lot of the templates deal with 1/4" material which is a little thin for me, but there are enough requiring 3/8-1/2" material to keep you occupied. have fun

Jigs Review Complete Control
If you are really, really serious about using a router table for dovetails, finger joints, and all the other milling operations that require high precision, you will want to own one of the Incra woodworking systems. My personal choice was the 'Super' system, which is an Ultra system like this in combination with the Incra Wonder Fence. The advantage to that model is the split fence, but it you aren't into turning your router table into a miniature joiner than this version will suit you fine for considerably less.

The heart of the system is the LS Positioner, which controls the fence from a rock solid center rather than from the ends as do most fence systems. The LS position locks into 1/32" increments, which can then be adjusted by 1000th's of an inch. This is more precision than a woodworker might ever need, but it is nice to have available. Also included as the Incra stop and the right angle fixture. With all of this mounted on the 28" fence you have a milling machine capable of exotic work.

The LS Positioner holds what Incra calls templets. These are plastic strips that come market with all the positions to cut a particular joint pattern. Something like sophisticated story sticks. There are places to keep five of these active on the Positioner - this is to minimize switching. I suppose the idea seems a bit corny, but Incra has bet their reputation on these templets, and they really do work.

Two notes of warning - Incra calls this a 16" jig, but the truth is that is takes nearly 30" of machine to give you that 16" cutting width. In all likelihood you will have to build an extension to your routing table. In my case I wound up adding 12 inches of draw. And you want this to be a solid extension, since the jig and fence weigh an appreciable amount. And the learning curve for a jig with this many adjustments is pretty steep (this isn't helped by a terse manual). Expect to do a bit of experimenting before you are getting the best results possible.

Jigs Review Great fence and joinery system
I have owned this fence / jig for about three weeks now and have used it to make several boxes and one case. It is simply great. Everything written about it is true - it is very stable and repeatable. I did purchase the new metal installation bracket that holds the system off of the back end of the router table (in order to free up additional room on the table and not give it up to the tool - download the owner's manual and look at the installation versus your router table to see what I'm talking about). In addition to reading through the manual, I also suggest that you purchase the intro video, which more simply walks you through the setup and usage of the tool. In short, well done Incra!

Jigs Review Splinter free cutting.
I bought these blades to cut do some scrollwork in some marine grade plywood and there was almost zero tearout. Very smooth cuts. The best blades I've ever used.

Jigs Review value product
I think this is a great blade for the money. They are sharp and last long - I usually wind up breaking them before they dull.

Jigs Review Simply the best
I have a couple of jigsaws (including a Bosch barrel grip) and these blades are the best I have used. I prefer the Bosch blade style anyway, and this particular Bosch blade in particular. I have used this blade on many different woods and plywoods and I find the performance to be excellent in every material. The cuts are usually splinter free and the thin blade design allows for accurate curve cutting and scrollsaw-like precision. Though the blade is thin, it is surprisingly sturdy (they don't break too easily).

I highly recommend these blades to all finish carpenters and woodworkers. They are top notch and this is a very good price!
