Power Tool Accessories Review Great tool manufacturer stands behind
The gauges work great, but on the second plank one of the back tabs broke off. We contacted Pactool they had us ship both gauges back (which left me needing a second set of hands) in less than a week we had a new set which seem to be holding up well. I would purchase these again without hesitation, I believe we had a manufacturing defect on the failed gauge.

Power Tool Accessories Review Gecko Guage
This tool is a huge timesaver and makes it easy to do a fast and accurate job.

Power Tool Accessories Review Excellent tool
Other reviews have covered the high points of these tools. I just want to reiterate how easy it is to install siding working alone with these. My siding project went much faster after I bought a set. Setting uniform board spacing is also much easier. The end result looked far better than most "professional" jobs.

These tools will more than pay for themselves on even a small job. No need to locate a helper. If you buy commercial insurance for your siding business you can now get by without putting an employee on the side of the house with you. This alone saved me seven times the cost of the gauges for one year of insurance coverage.

Power Tool Accessories Review Unnecessary Set-Up Difficulty
I purchased this tool through Amazon/Tool Crib. No problems in receiving the tool. The tool performs as advertised and was a very good price. The reason I gave it three stars was due to the difficulty I experienced in setting the grinder up. The grinder includes two spark deflector (plexi-glass) lenses. For some idiotic reason, Delta choose to adhere stickers (advertising) to these lenses. The stickers must be removed to see the grinding wheel through them. The stickers were not the easy to peel off type that you would expect, but must have been adhered to the lenses with superglue. It was very difficult removing these stickers and the spark deflectors were scratched in the process. This whole exercise was unnecessary and extremely frustrating. Now I am reminded everytime I look through the scratched lenses.

Power Tool Accessories Review BEST BUY
Do not be afraid of this one guys.In it's price range it's a real gem.Delta has stood in the shadows of some of the higher profile tool makers for too long.Dont let the lack of a fancy paint job or full page ad's fool you.this guy is quiet, powerful and affordable.with so many options and a little creativity you can do so much with a bench grinder.I would say it's a must have for any shop.I've been running mine for years and it's still going strong. Now get out there and grind something.

Power Tool Accessories Review Nice Grinder / Nice Price
I purchased this grinder a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It runs smoothly and quietly. I'll be replacing the medium gray wheel with a better quality white/fine grinding wheel at the recommendation of a couple of friends. Nothing wrong with the wheels provided if those are the grits you need though, ie., for lawnmower blades, etc.

The light is helpful. So far, I've been able to use the grinder without bolting it to the work bench. I'll do that soon, but it's heavy enough to remain in one place without bolting it down, at least for the light work I've been doing with it.

Changing the wheels seems simple enough. Haven't done it yet, but I don't expect any issues. Mine came with no stickers on the plexiglass eye shields. Maybe Delta read the previous users comments...??? ;-)

I give it 5 stars because I believe it does exactly what it's supposed to and I have zero complaints.

Power Tool Accessories Review Quick wood removal
I have used this tool to cut down wood blocks for carving. It quickly removes material and brings the wood closer to the final carving stage. Use caution as wood is removed QUICKLY.

Power Tool Accessories Review Lancelot Carver
The quality of the carving that can be done with this tool is directly related to the quality of right angle grinder you purchase, and your proficiency with that grinder. I am building a log home and this tool is indispensible for log pockets, saddle notches, and tennons. I've had good luck with wildlife carvings in softwoods such as pine, hemlock, and cedar.

Power Tool Accessories Review A log home MUST HAVE
This tool is a must have for anyone building a log home. Our builder had one and he used it in putting our house up. Now that we are finishing it, we have found it invaluable to:
-carve out grooves for the window/door bucks
-carve out grooves for wiring
-carve out large areas of the logs for light switches. I really don't know how we would do this without the king arthur. It would easily take 3x as long with a chisel.

This tool has allowed us to tackle many of the unusual challenges that come up with a log home. With each project, the king arthur has shown itself to be invaluable. Don't know how we would build this house without one.

Our electrician had to get one once he saw ours!

Power Tool Accessories Review Buy it for the batteries and charger
The flashlight is okay (no diffuser for the beam), but the drill is crap. I bought it to get a new charger and two new batteries. If you have a good drill/driver and need some batteries and a charger, this is a good buy. I have a twenty year old Makita drill (jacob's chuck) that is better than the one in this "anniversary edition."

Power Tool Accessories Review Oldie but goodie
We've owned several of this type of Makita 9.6v cordless for as long as 20 years and aside from a few minor glitches from time to time they're all still running fine. The NiMi batteries are an improvement over the old NiCad. Since we own several of them we've stayed with the 9.6v so we never run out of batteries as well as the fact that their performance is more than adequate for most of our needs. Considering that you can buy this whole package for nearly the price of a pair of batteries, it makes it a no brainer. I needed more batteries so I just bought another package. If you're a first time buyer of Makitas, you might want to go for the other models that allow the convenience of standing the drills upright, are slightly more compact and have a more power if you need it.

Power Tool Accessories Review Makita a name you can trust
I'm a general contractor and have owned Makita tools for a very long time. I still have the first cordless drill I ever purchased and its still working. This kit is great, up to date cordless drill with better batteries than before, holds the charge longer. The flashlight always comes in handy. I use these tools every day at work and home and wouldn't leave home without them.

Power Tool Accessories Review Best tool in my commercial sculpture shop!
I have, and am still using, the first unit I bought six years ago. I have a professional wood sculpture business, and have run this grinder hundreds of hours with carbide shaping tools on hardwood. Mostly walnut and birch. I bought a second unit that is setting in a drawer in case this one ever quits, but it isn't going to be soon. The one problem is that the slide switch gathers dust, and now it takes an extra push to get it going. It doesn't ever stop once running. If I dig the dust out of the switch it is fine. Other than that one thing, the heavy bearings, the good case, and strong motor, make this a wonderful tool. WAY better than any tools in my shop by Delta and Sears.

Power Tool Accessories Review "SIMPLY THE BEST", "A TRUE WORKHORSE"
I have been doing flowbench developed porting for over 22 years. Sometimes my porting bench runs 12 hours a day. I own (in use at this site) more than 8 air die grinders, 8 hand held electrics(makita!), and 2 remote cable driven units. Years ago (1982) I was looking for an affordable electric die grinder, I tried several $80 - $100 units NONE LASTED more than a few days! EXCEPT THE MAKITA YOU SEE HERE! I still have the first 2 I bought, DATED 1982, until a few weeks ago only brushes and a switch had ever been replaced!! These 2 have THOUSANDS of hours use. Finally I had to replace a shaft in 1!! A true industrial quality tool @ a hobby price! Ken

Power Tool Accessories Review Famous Furniture Maker?
Is this the famous furniture maker Larry Summitt?

Power Tool Accessories Review Buy this belt sander...Jesus did.
Do you need any other evidence that this is the greatest belt sander made? I mean, all due respect to Mr. Larry Summit below. But Jesus bought this sander and uses it to this day. Jesus from East L.A. He runs a cabinet-making shop over off Cesar Chavez Blvd...somewhere near Whittier. Makes good stuff and swears by this sander. Get it. It runs the wood down to the wire.

Power Tool Accessories Review This machine measures up!
I teach shop in a Junior High School. Over the years I have used almost every brand of 4" X 24" Belt Sander. The Milwaukee sander is light, well balanced, sands smooth even when changing directions on large flat surfaces and is very durable. I always tell people, "If it can survive Junior High, it is good" Our sander has been in operation for 6 years and has performed flawlessly without breakage or failure.

Power Tool Accessories Review Milwaukee Let Down
I have owned many, many Milwaukee tools...But this one was a real disappointment. I estimate 7 to 8 hours on the tool before it is absolutely unusable. First the "random" action ceased, which is not uncommon with a worn out "belt"...but the power became less and less, sparks emit from the windings. I was shocked to get this poor of quality from Milwaukee. Not to complain, but the housing is also very light, the entire unit just feels "cheap" to me. Granted, it is a cheap (inexpensive) sander, but I expected a little more than 7 or 8 hours of use from it.
I still recommend Porter Cable, I generally get good hours out of that brand...DeWalt does ok, Makita, so-so...Hope that helps anyone out there lookng for a unit that will hold up under use.

Power Tool Accessories Review Milwaukee sander
Best sander I bought. It most likely will last me for a while. There is one draw back, do not buy the psa. Every time I put a new sanding disk on, it just shoots off. But the Hook and Loop. Hope this helped-

Power Tool Accessories Review ilwaukee 6018 and 6019 Sanders
Milwaukee is noted as being a producer of top-notch tools for the professional. This sander lives up to the Milwaukee name.
The tool is comfortable to use, doesn't make too much noise and I know it'll outlast most other brands by a large margin. It even comes with a little vacuum bag to help keep down dust particles. This type of sander is usually one of the last tools you think of buying, but once you have it, you'll wonder how you got along without it.
One caveat BEFORE you purchase the 6018 (used with stick-on sanding disks) or the 6019 (used with the velco-type hook and loop sanding disks)!!! Check which type of disks are available in your local area!!! I bought the 6018 (stick-on), only to find that just the hook and loop type disks were available at the local Home Depot. Furious, I called Milwaukee to get a price on a replacement hook and loop type base ($30+!!!)...(similar base for the Porter Cable is $17.00) I must have sounded a little irate and they sent me one free!!! Now I have a choice of which disks to use. Don't count yourself this lucky....check which pads you can buy at local outlets and save yourself some grief.

Power Tool Accessories Review Powerful and Very Effective
I bought the 6148-6 to flush grind welds on a table saw stand that I made from 3/4 inch square mild steel tubing. The job was completed very quickly, much to my delight. The tool is powerful and the motor temperature barely moved above ambient throughout.

Some reviewers have commented about the less than robust wrench that is included. The tool that I bought included a wrench that is 1/8 inch thick and is entirely up to the task of tightening and removing the abrasive disks.

Power Tool Accessories Review Best Grinder of the Bunch
I have owned Ryobi, DeWalt, and Milwaukee grinders, and Milwaukee is by far the best. Powerful rugged and can stand up to heavy use. The wrench is not strong enough to remove the wheel if it is very tight.

Power Tool Accessories Review Excellent Grinder/Cutter!
I built a fireplace in my basement and needed a grinder/cutter to shape the stones as I put them on the fireplace. This tool worked great. With a diamond blade it cut the stones like butter and the grinder wheel fine tuned the stones so they fit perfectly. The three position handle was especially convenient in the shaping and cutting the stones when I found myself in an awkward position. The motor had plenty of power and didn't bog down. Removing and installing the blade guard was a little awkward until I got the hang of it. One of the previous reviewers complained about the wrench and how difficult it was to use. I found it easy to use and had no trouble changing blades and wheels. I highly recommend this tool.

Power Tool Accessories Review Dead on arrival....
I just received a Magnum Mitre Saw model 6490 and I am extremely disappointed. I can't believe they make these in Taiwan now. First, it would not even run!!! Milwaukee's Taiwan buddies don't seem to understand that spade connectors are supposed to be TIGHT, not LOOSE!!! The spade connectors for the brushes were loose, and one was NOT EVEN CONNECTED!!! This is a SAFETY Hazard!! I fixed it, since I DO have a brain and understand basic electrical connections. Second, I go to cut the kerf in the plastic insert, and guess what? IT ISN'T STRAIGHT!!! The kerf is not parallel to the sides of the plastic insert, and to top it off, it was not perpendicular to the fence!! What is wrong with these people?! I loved their little 3/8" hammer drill, but this is a piece of crap. I don't even know how to adjust the blade so that it cuts a proper kerf nice and parallel with the insert, and no, the fence was nice and tight, it had not "loosened" in transit. The box it arrived in was undamaged too, so I can only assume that these people don't know square and safe from cocked and dangerous. Worthless.

Power Tool Accessories Review Best on the market
As a professional, and having many other saws in my shop, I can tell you that you can only be impressed by the accuracy and stability of this saw. My workers all enjoy and comment strongly about how much they like it. Thanks!!!

Power Tool Accessories Review Good and Simple!!!
If you're looking for a saw that will last a lifetime this is the one to get! Built to Milwaukee's tough "Heavy Duty" standards this saw has quality written all over it! It may lack the compound adjustments with all the bells and whistles and cost a bit more than a cheap Taiwan model, but outfit this saw with the proper blade or jig and it'll tackle anything from trim work to rough framing! Not to mention, with excellent power and precision. The fifteen amp motor is as powerful as it gets without tripping most circuit breakers. This rock solid machine is vibration free and most of the dust actually goes out the dust port! The high fence and clever wrench storage clip completes this simple design.

What I really like about this saw is the effective blade retraction system. The clear lower guard retracts into the upper blade guard assembly away from snagging your thumb or sleeves as the guard moves upwards. O.K., maybe it's just the way I'm holding the handle with my big hands but I have gotten the pointy joint on my thumb slammed on the retracting path of the DeWalt and Makita guards...Ouch!!! To me, there is insuffient space between the handle and retracting guard on those saws.

Along with the high sticker price, this saw should have came with a set of extentions with stopping block and hold down clamps. These accessories are quite pricey when purchased separately. I guess to enjoy fine dining you must order ala carte just as you would with this fine tuned machine!

Power Tool Accessories Review Delta's Black Sheep
I received this saw for Chrismas. It arrived in good condition, but there are a number of very disconcerting aspects to it.

The saw is manufactured in Taiwan - not in the USA (like the unisaws). According to Jason Carpenter of Delta (1-800-368-1487x3143) it was designed for the Canadian market and brought down to the states to compete with Jet. Not being a unisaw, there are a number of changes.

First, the throat plate is different and unique from *all* of the Delta table saws (cabinet/contractor). At present, you cannot purchase a zero clearance throat plate for it.

Second, the base dimensions are different. I purchased a mobile base with extension (50-289) and it does not fit. Delta has the square section (50-729) which you can order for $121.01. It is not yet listed on their web site or any other site I've seen. The extension (50-284) is an extra $113.30. I plan to modify the 50-289 to fit my needs.

In the spec sheet, the max dado width is 15/16". They don't mention that you need a special arbor to cut this dado with - and you can't leave the special arbor on as it will hit the underside of the table for deep angled cuts.

Another complaint I had was that the cast iron extension wings were not perfectly flat. I had the front and back flush, and had a lit in the middle of about two sheets of paper. In the end I was able to flex it mostly flat at the recommendation of the Delta service center.

What has been most frustrating is the customer support on this saw. I've called Delta several times and the person on other end usually says, "Wow, this saw is brand new. I've never heard of it. Let me see what the manual says." On the mobile base, I called specifically to ask if the 50-289 would work - and was told yes.

I plan to keep this saw as I believe it is worth the money and I don't want the hassle or added cost of shipping it back in excange for a true unisaw; I would however stongly recommend getting a unisaw instead of this one.

Power Tool Accessories Review An Awesome Saw
I received my Delta 36-732 cabinet saw about a month ago and have used it for only a few projects. This was my transition from a Delta contractor's saw to a cabinet saw. Frankly, any cabinet saw would have been better than the contractor's saw that I had bought at Lowe's. Noise, vibration, lack of power and a small work area all added up to a new saw.

I researched table saws for almost a year, before purchasing the Delta 36-732. I had a list of what I wanted in a saw and began to narrow the field. I actually went as far as to order a General International cabinet hybrid, but cancelled the order after realizing that it is impossible to get 2 hp from the amps they speced, at the time.

Amazon's sale price on the Delta made it an easy choice. I was a little concerned because I had never actually seen the 36-732 before it arrived at my house. I was (and am) impressed. This is everything that I wanted, and would expect from a high-end saw, but at a low-end price.

Fit and finish is outstanding. Quality exceeded my expectaitons. Easy to assemble. Quite and imperceptible vibration (it passed the dime test). Exceptional power. The Biesemeyer fence is unbelievable

Cons: I had to flex both wings to get them flat. With a 2hp dust collector attached to the saw, the cabinet does not empty very well. I still need to vacuum out the cabinet to keep it clean.

Overall: This is one great saw. I would have given it 5 stars, but nothing is perfect.

Power Tool Accessories Review Excellent saw with a few minor "bugs"
Recently purchased this saw and mobile base.
Biesemeyer fence is excellent but had a few required washers missing (easily purchased at hardware store). You won't be disappointed with the use of it.
The blade guard requires wrench to remove\replace and one bolt 1" long to be removed completely. The supplied wrench is pretty much worthless for this purpose. I replaced both bolts with thread knobs, to hold it on and slotted the rear hole so guard slips on easily. Now I can remove and replace it with out wrenches.
The "shelf" for storage of fence won't hold Biesemeyer fence it keeps falling off. So find another place to keep it when not it use.
The crank handles and locks are plastic and seem light but function exactly as they should.
The miter gage is to light to be of real use, it seems to be made of stamped sheet metal or a thin wall casting. I removed the bar and trashed it. I had a better one anyway, but you should plan on replacing it with something better.
I have/had no problems the the main saw itself. Base, top and extention are good to excellent quality, with tilt and height adjustments working correctly.
Prior reviews talked about the extention table not being flat and the switch being not in the correct place. My table was flat and the switch comes with bracket to locate in correct spot " flush with front rail". So maybe Delta fixed these issues.
I am pleased with the saw "after about a month of use" and would recomend it to a friend, after pointing out these issues.
