Excellent product, and I received it free!
Need Vs. Want
A "best buy" in every sense of the phraseMy dad has an older 12V Makita cordless drill that we really put through the paces doing lots of home improvement projects, including building two decks. When I bought my house I knew I needed a Makita cordless drill to go with it, and when I saw this deal I couldn't pass it up. For example, as of this review the price for this package is less than 5% more than for just the 14.4V DeWalt impact driver; it's like you get a top of the line cordless drill and a work light for free!
PROS:
+ The package deal is a fantastic bargain!
+ Makita quality.
+ 14.4V power is great.
+ Two NiMH batteries are included.
+ The batteries last a long time.
+ NiMH batteries do not suffer from memory issues (they can be charged many 1000s of times with no problems).
+ The impact driver removes stripped screws with ease.
+ The light on the impact driver is a nice touch.
+ A reversible Phillips/flat screw bit for the drill is included.
+ There are two storage clips on the drill to hold hex bits, so I never misplace the screw bit.
+ I like the blue color. :-)
CONS:
- Now I want a light on my drill, too.
- No bit is included for the impact driver. This is the only place in the whole package where it appears that Makita got cheap.
So far both the drill and the driver have strongly reinforced my previous great experiences with Makita cordless drills. I would buy this package again in a heartbeat.

- Package includes extra bulb, 2 NiMH batteries, universal charger, and carrying case
- Drill/driver delivers 404 in./lbs. of torque to handle the toughest tasks
- The 6-1/2-inch saw cuts 2-by material at 45 degrees and features an electric brake
- Reciprocating saw offers tool-free blade changing for convenience
- Flashlight's head adjusts to point the beam in four positions

Quality ToolsI put up galvanized steel fence panels on my property and used the reciprocating saw to cut the panels to fit. What a difference! The recip saw cut through the galvanized steel like butter! A nice feature is the adjustable shoe. Being able to move the shoe up or down lengthens the life of the blade by moving the cutting edge to other parts of the blade. Another nice feature is the do-it-yourself carbon brush changes on the recip and drill/driver. The drill is in itself is really nice. Again, the quality of the tool was evident. Batteries seemed to last a long time.
I've grown up using corded tools [usually past down from my father] and finally decided to buy a nice cordless tool set after tripping on extension cords once too many times. Power is right up there with the corded tools.
If you are looking for a good set of tools, this is the set to buy.
One of the best tool tools I ever bought
Awesome drill, Great Circ SawThe drill is incredible. Great power, flexibility, balance and battery life. I have managed to break one of the two included bits, but I replaced it at the hardware store for 89 cents. The drill itself seems solid and well built, even after a lot of use.
The circ saw is powerful enough and well balanced, but battery life can be an issue if you don't plan your charges in advance.
The recip saw is nice enough and well balanced, if a little heavy (I had to do some tight cutting above my head and holding it up there was a little tiring after a while).
The flashlight? Well, it just sits there. I suppose it would be ok, but usually both of my batteries are taken, either by a tool or the charger.
The standout here is really the drill, followed by the circular saw. The fact that I don't have to drag a cord around is simply wonderful, and the 18v tools provide more than enough power for the things I do.

Great saw for the intended designI bought this saw about 2 months ago because I had a project to build a double set of outside stairs. The nearest power was 1/4 mile away and I don't own a generator.
This saw is very good. I was suprised by it power. The stairs I built were completely made from green treated lumber. I was able to cut 2x12 stair treads with no problem. Yes I had to flip the wood over and yes the wood was still wet. I was amazed. I also bought the 24 volt circular saw. It too exceeded my expectation. I also own the Corded Dewalt 12 inch compound miter. This saw can't do everything the Dewalt can do but you can't expect it to. For what it is worth I have not found a job it can't do yet.
I would highly recommend this saw to any one.

Sweet, but...
Noisy, but strongFor the money, I don't think I have ever bought a better drill/screw gun. We burn out a lot of drills on the jobsite and when I finally wear this on out I will definately buy another to replace it.
A dream to useWhenever I can't get good leverage on my regular 14.4v DeWalt drill/driver it tends to strip the screw heads towards the end of the drive. Not so with this baby. If you are starting with a new or undamaged screw, this driver will sink it into anything short of concrete without stripping the head. Other benefits include the small size of the driver itself and a really nifty chuck device.
As for downsides: You hear this a lot, but when this thing goes into "impact mode" it is loud. If you happen to be in a small room such as a bathroom you will really notice how loud it is. Also, you have to use hex headed bits and drivers with this thing, and that could lead to a bit of expense if you don't have any already.
Before buying this impact driver I was in a pretty common situation. I already owned a 14.4v drill/driver and had to wonder if I needed this one too. I am sure a lot of people who will read this review are in the same boat. My answer to this is yes and no. You can get by forever with just a drill/driver, so you don't NEED this tool. But speaking from a convenience point of view, once you buy this and cease to strip screw heads no matter what material you are screwing into, and once you get used to applying about 1/4 of the pressure that a drill/driver takes, you will love this tool forever.
I made sure that my drill/driver and my impact driver were of the same voltage so they could share batteries and now use the drill for drilling (duh) and the impact driver for driving and spend a lot less time swapping back and forth between drill bits and driver bits.
I highly recommend this as a well made and high performing tool.

I'll save the fifth star for later...Power - there's all you would ever want here. I was driving 3" screws into treated lumber and quickly noticed two things. The driver didn't hesitate while driving the screws home and compared to my standard drill/driver I had to apply much less pressure on the rear of the gun to keep the bit from slipping on the screw head.
Size/Weight - You don't notice how much a good drill/driver weighs until you use something like this that is more powerful and yet weighs less. Though the size is tiny compared to what I am used to, it doesn't feel unnaturally so.
Value - though this is probably the best tool I have ever used to drive a screw, it is expensive so the vaulue per dollar isn't what it could be. If I were starting from scratch on a collection of tools, I would think seriously about this one. As it is, I already have two DeWalt drill/drivers and will probably not justify replacing them at this cost.
Overall, this is a great tool that I feel justifies the impact driver craze that is currently going on. If you build decks for a living, run to buy one of these. If you are a weekend warrior, get more bang for your buck by getting a good deal on a 12-14.4 volt drill/driver instead...

You CAN'T Do Better!
BROKE MY WRIST!
Drill RocksI have had this drill for 3 years and I don't use it much.
I use my cordless drills including my powerful Dewalt 988.
Today I used a 3 in holesaw to drill thru a 2 by 4,once I used the Dewalt,It struggled but drilled the hole. Then I used the
Milwalkee 302,it drilled It with ease and didn't even slow down.
I was very impressed.I will use the Milwaukee for the really heavy drilling from now on.I will use the cordless drills for
light to fairly heavy use (about 95% of the time). Why put unneeded strain on a good cordless drill?
If you are looking to buy a strong corded drill, look at Milwaukee first.
