Cordless Tools Review Very nice drill
I was searching Lowe's and found this drill. It is truly a good bargain. It is very powerful and the charger is great. I also got a free flashlight with it. If you are simple do-it yourselfer, this drill should have all the power that you need.

Cordless Tools Review Dan Sorenson, Builder
This drill rocks! I have owned three other cordless 14.4 volt drills and this one outshines them all. There really is no comparison. I don't have the words. Feel, power, longevity, co-worker fascination, smoothness, quietness, ... did I mention power (?). It has plenty of all you need. Definately no need for an 18 volt, or any other volt for that matter. I especially love the all volt charger you get with it as I own other Hitachi cordless drills. If it has a flaw it's the case, but I'll deal with it!

Cordless Tools Review Great value
I purchased this drill to supplement my larger Makita model. I'm an amateur woodworker with a passion for power tools. After much research, reading and deliberation, I chose this Hitachi over several other brands. This just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up and I was right.

Popular WoodWorking magazine raved about these inexpensive Hitachi drills and now I know why. I've had the tool for 3 weeks and used it for several projects and I'm not dissapointed. It has much more power than you might expect, given it's small footprint and light weight. It fits into my hand like a good tool should and it's fun to use. This drill replaced an older 9.6 DeWalt which I didn't really care for. All in all, considering the price, power, quality manufacturing and the great flashlight, this purchase was a great value. I love it when I feel like I got a lot for my money.

Cordless Tools Review I'm impressed!!!
I bought this kit for the reciprocating saw. To say I was skeptical about the circular saw would be an understatement. I can honestly say I'm impressed. The recriprocating saw didn't dissappoint, and the circular saw was used to build a deck. It took on 4x4's and 2x8's without binding. The batteries were quick to charge and held the charge for many cuts.

Though it wasn't designed to be a 115v plug in saw, it has plenty of power and is handy as a pocket on your shirt.

Cordless Tools Review Ultimate cordless
I have the Dewalt 24 Volt saw and sawsall, they worked good for the first six months, after that I could not depend on them to go on jobs with me without wired tools as back up. I have had the Hitachi combo for few months and they are much better tools than the dewalt 24 volts. The saw has the biggest blade on the market( 7 1/4 "), it weighs less than my Porter cable electric saw, and it is very comfortable to use. It has a luminated cutting area also, it comes in handy when you are working indoors.
The sawsall is very compact and powerful, you can control the speed thru the trigger. The price of these tools are cheaper than the Dewalts and they are superior tools.
P.S. The Hitachi Green is a nice break from the yellow, red, and grey colored tools out there.

Cordless Tools Review Great for sheet material
The reason I bought this terrific, little cordless tool is that it's much better than my Bosch jigsaw at trimming plywood flooring in a tight attic crawlspace. It's great for cutting room subflooring, too, when I'm going around on my knees and don't want to fool with pulling a cord. Now, I reach for this Makita cordless saw instead of dragging out the jigsaw or (gasp) my big, old Black&Decker circular saw, when I only need to trim up small pieces for blocking around plumbing and wiring boxes. I like how it makes bevel cuts, too. This Makita has plenty of power to mow through 7/8 inch sheathing, or 2x wood in two passes, and goes a long way on a single charge. It's great for cutting drywall, too! And the carring case and rip fence make this package a really good buy! Way to go, Makita!

Cordless Tools Review Light in Weight - Heavy in Cutting
I use this saw a lot. I bought this saw to do "light duty" panel work. But, after ripping and cross-cutting hundreds of sheets of 1/8" & 1/4" paneling and hardboard, I have to say that this makita saw is anything but light duty. I use the 2.2nmh batteries with it and just love the light weight and no cords to hassle with. Lugging out a "big" circular saw with a cord to cut large panels is a real pain. With the makita cordless it's truly painless and MUCH quieter. This saw sold me on the makita brand. Of my cordless tools I only use makita, and I love all of them!

Cordless Tools Review Hard to find in stores
If you have an older Makita cordless drill and want to keep it for awhile this is a good price for the increasingly hard to find NiCD battery. Made in Japan.

Cordless Tools Review Price & Availability, spare parts, & accesories
I have owned the 7.2V drill since they first came out (orange) with wonderful results. sometimes 10 and 12 hours a day. Why cant I get replacement battery cells? and why is makita moving away from this fine line of tools. 9.6V is fine too but larger and heavier. why do the battery packs cost the same 7.2V and 9.6V.

Cordless Tools Review FAVORITE TOOL
I have had a makita 9.6 volt impact driver for five years and it is my favorite tool. I am involved in home construction and remodeling and use it all the time. I use a lot of deck screws to reduce the shock to surrounding walls in remodeling and the driver will send them through double 2x4's if you keep the trigger down. When I built a computer room for my daughter she loved it. I am ordering this one for her. GREAT TOOL!

Cordless Tools Review From sheet metal to sheet plywood
This is truely my most used power tool both at work and home. At work I use it for driving tech screws in light and heavy gauge sheet metal and at home I use it for carpentry and general home improvement. My father who builds cabinet had his reservations about using a power screw driver based on his results using a cordless drill (over tightening/stripping.) I gave him a new impact driver as a gift and based on his raving about it I wouldn't be suprised if my brother received one for Christmas. If you purchase one remember it is an IMPACT DRIVER and not a DRILL. I witness a lot of people purchasing the drill chuck adapter and trying to use it as a drill.

Cordless Tools Review I Love it
I love this impact. It is a great size, and the power of it is remarkable. I only wish I had bought it long ago. Having two batteries is a plus. You never run out of power when you need it.

Cordless Tools Review Ultra-Awesome-Super-Tool is here!
I build racing engines for a living and in our shop we have two of these beauties. We use them so much we often change batteries several times a day. No more speed wrenches or rachets. Just one of these and a torque wrench and you are set. Don't know how I could get by without it now.

Cordless Tools Review Too nice to abuse?
I bought mine here at Amazon. The price? Well I'm not supposed to say but Amazon's was the best found on the internet or off. (This is a somewhat specialized tool and isn't discounted often. I was unable to find it on sale anywhere.)...

This is one beautiful, well made cordless drill. It's almost too nice... I gritted my teeth, bit my lip and put it to the test.

No problems were encountered in any of the projects except for the disheartening layer of rock and wood dust now covering the once shiny drill and the heavy sigh ...

The Pro's:

**Keyless "one-handed" 1/2" chuck with the hold of a pitbull.
**Nickel Metal Hydride batteries-Enviromentally friendly. Last longer??
**Industrial metal gear housing.
**Total control variable speed trigger.
**Rubberized grip with unsurpassed ergonomics.
**Makita "T-style" design-Weight of drill head sits further back for better balance and EASILY sits upright (try this with a similar DeWalt or PC)
**Easily replaceable carbon brushes.
**Fit, finish and company reliability. (It's definitely a Makita!)

The Cons:

**Price-Ooouch! This is a premium drill and the price reflects it. (Sometimes you just have to splurge...and go without food for a month.)
**Nickel Metal Hydride batteries-Price once again. Last longer?? (Hmmm, I'm not sure about this yet. Time will tell.)

Summary: If you want the best in this class and can afford it, this is both the beauty and the beast in one finely crafted tool, designed to last...

Cordless Tools Review The Rolls Royce of Hammer Drills
I have had this drill for 6 months now and love it.As a keen home improvement fan and author of 2 books on gardening tools and design I have owned and used many drills.

This one is so well designed, Makita have thought of everything, the ergonomics and switches are a delight to use and the tool is very powerfull and balanced. I like the fact that you can stand it upright on it's battery without falling over and getting scratched. The chuck is so easy to use and you can switch from hammer to driver and back without altering the torque settings.

Builders working at my house love to borrow it and admire it.If you get 500 hours use from it then you can even change the brushes in seconds to get even more life from the motor. This is by far the best drill I have seen, and I've seen a few!

Cordless Tools Review surprised !
After using a Dewalt 18 xrp for the last 2 years, I bought this drill after the dewalt "walked" off on a job. I have really been surprised with this drills performance, it is stronger than my dewalt and the batteries last quiet a bit longer. The makita has performed flawlessly for me the first 6 months now and has exceeded my expectations which was to be at least as good as my old trusty dewalt. This is a professional grade tool!

Cordless Tools Review Best on the market
The makita 18 volt hammer drill is the best drill you can buy. I am an electrical contractor and have bought many of the yellow ones and the red ones but after using them every working day for 8 years we have our opinions. The battrey life is twice as long. It has more power. It is constucted better than the others and when its operating it doesn't feel like its going to fall apart. Makita started the cordless craze and their batteries used to last 7 years and cost only $30 Now some batteries last 2 years and cost $80 to replace! One test is worth a thousand expert opinions so go for it. Sid Sutherland, Sutherland Electric,Brush Prairie, WA
