Drills Review Endurance
The drill is good for light to medium duty work.(The hammer part is a little weak). I wore out a good brand drill bit, and had three holes to drill thru 10" of wall with a 7/8" carbide bit. You pay for what you get, but it is really good for the light work. Be sure to purchase good masonry bits to perform the job. If it had more hammer, it would have done the job. Over-all a good choice for the dollar. Also it does well with regular drilling for stud or joist work. So it's a pretty good purchase.

Drills Review Works Great! Plenty of Torque for me..
This items comes shipped in the box. Nice! Cord is attached and longer than the average cord too. Plenty of torgue, nice features comfortable and much more powerful than the yellows if you know what I mean. One downside to this item is Milwaukee doesn't provide you with a nice metal case. Otherwise works very well. Puts other drills to shame.

Drills Review Capacity is everything!
This is my hammer drill and I can easily reccomend it. It is perfectly capable within it's capacity. Another reviewer said the drill was unable to drill a 7/8 inch hole. The biggest bit one could expect to use with any drill in this class is 3/4 inch max. And that in the low speed (only 3/8 inch in high speed). The dissatisfied reviewer may not have known what he was doing. My outfit was doing a big remodel last year, adding on to a house. The existing threshold was poured crete and had to go. My boss told one of the guys to drill a bunch of one inch holes along the doorway so as to be able to smash the crete away. The worker didn't know any better either and went at it with a yellow hammer drill (similar in size to this one) in high speed with a one inch percussion bit. The drill died in about 20 minutes. So the boss went out and bought the same-sized Bosch HD and it died that day too. Now he has a Makita but not the knowledge of capacity. They don't listen to me - I just work there. In closing, I love the RED tools, have a bunch of them, and they are always (except for miter saws and impact drivers - then Makitas are the standard by which all others are judged) the first I look at.

Drills Review I loved it until it broke after 3 months of use
The fan was great, with lots of breeze and circulation. It is loud, but who cared?
The problem is that it only lasted for about 3 months before it just quit working, along with a little puff of smoke. Two weeks before the fatal puff, the fan arced, popped, sparked, and gave off a puff of smoke, but it still worked. Two weeks after that it sparked and puffed and has not turned on since.
I live in Hawaii and it is currently in the rainy season. There has been a lot of humidity in the air during the last month, and I noticed that the back of the fan was actually getting rusty. I thought perhaps that moisture was the cause of the sparking so I was surprised to read in another review that the fan was good to use during heat and humidity!
The fan was sitting in front of the living room window and it kept the whole small 2 bedroom house cool. We miss it, but I can't keep buying a new fan every 3 months!
This is the first time ever that this has happened with a fan that I purchased. I have been living in Hawaii for 13 years and have been through a lot of fans. One of the best-lasting fans I had was a $10.00 Lasko box fan. It lasted and worked well for 7 years before it quit working.

Drills Review I LOVE THIS PATTON FAN
We had this same fan years ago. We loved it, and it laster for over l0 years. Since then I have been trying to find another one in MD/DC hardware stores, but I hadn't seen one. Finally I found it on the Amazon web site.

I love my new Patton velocity fan! It was easy to order. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

Thanks Amazon!

Drills Review A Powerful Fan for Hot, Humid Days!
This fan must have two pages, because I know I reviewed it last week; and at the time, it wasn't being offered by Amazon with free shipping. If it had been, I probably would have gotten a second one. I bought one last year from an online hardware store. It is a super powerful fan that works well on super hot, humid days. I've never felt a more powerful fan, except in places that use huge commercial type fans. It is loud, but I like loud fans. And metal fans do work better than plastic ones, in my opinion. I recently got a 14 inch Patton high velocity floor fan with a plastic CVT blade, which is no where near as powerful as this fan. It's designed better, and is safer around children and pets, but even in the highest setting, it seems to me to be less powerful than this Patton on the lowest setting.

This Patton is not as heavy, and the metal not as thick, as fans I have bought in the past like it. But that is not a bad thing; the heavier fans I had always eventually collapsed on their stands, making them unsafe around children and pets. They also only lasted 2-3 years. Hopefully, this one will last longer. Because, believe me, if you live in a a place with HOT summers, you miss these powerful metal floor fans when they die!

Bottom line--if you need fans to survive the summer, and don't mind loud ones: Go with the biggest metal floor fan--with the biggest blades and most powerful motor--that you can afford!

Drills Review Skil Drill
the drill holds up under heavy household use however the batteries don't hold up as well under heavier use. The screwdriver bit constantly falls from the built in holder. Overall, it is a very good driver for a homeowner.

Drills Review Better than that ...
The only other reviewer of this product gave the 14.4 V Skil a "3"; I think it's better than that.

First, it's a helluva' bargain, at 14.4 V, with a keyless chuck, and 2 rechargable batteries. Big-name competitors are typically $40 more.

As far as the problem with the bit slipping out of the built-in holder, it's: 1) a minor problem, and; 2) probably can be avoided in the long term by sliding the bit out laterally rather than "popping" it out (stressing and stretching the plastic).

I'd give this product a 4.5 overall. Not a 5, because nobody's perfect. With the 1-hr quick charger I don't see the battery problem as important.

Bottom line: Good product. Good price.

Drills Review Skill Highperformance 14.4 volt Drill
I owned two Skill High Performance 14.4 volt drills, one has been stolen and the other was involved in an accident and I need to replace them. I bought a B&D 14.4 volt drill but have been less than pleased with it's performance. I have been unable to find new SKILL 14.4 volt High performance drills and want you to know that I'm very disappointed. Why, when you come out with a good quality product at a reasonable price does it suddingly disappear from the market?

Drills Review Not a lot of muscle required
As a woman and a former victim of repetitive strain injury in my wrists and arms, I was looking for a fairly rugged drill that I could still use with comfort. Drills have gotten really heavy, and the Skil was the most lightweight one I could find with a power-on lock, satisfactory power, a wide RPM range, and keyed chuck. (A keyless chuck is difficult for me to tighten enough to keep drill bits from cavitating, and I find the old-fashioned keyed chuck on this model much easier to snugly tighten and untighten.)

My old drill was a cordless, and it kept running out of power in the middle of a project and wouldn't hold a charge for long - I have to plug the Skil in, but I don't mind because I never have to worry about losing power.

The only disatisfaction I have with this drill is that it isn't very well balanced and because of this it quickly becomes fatiguing to hold with one hand. Using two hands on it is rather awkward also, because of the shape of the body, but doable. I've used it mostly to drill and drive 1" drywall screws into 3/8" particleboard underlayment with 5/8" plywood beneath, for an hour at a time, and have been satisfied with its performance. A very small investment, and definitely worth the money.

Drills Review great house drill
If you need a drill for use around the house to put up shelves, draperies, etc. then I highly recommend this product. It's light (and not top-heavy) like many comparable drills and very easy to use. (in many cases, you don't need the chuck key.) The only quibble I have is that it doesn't work well with hardwoods. I tried to drill an oak board and it didn't have enough horsepower to do the job. Now if they could just do something about the satanic styling...

Drills Review Very good, low cost drill
While I wouldn't drag this out to a job site, I bought this to have an extra (light) drill around the house and have been nothing but pleased. Very usable keyless chuck allows for quick bit changes and is more comfortable than others I've used. The speed switch is built well and it actually adjusts with some subtlty. Have dropped it a lot, built lots of deck furniture and its as good as the day I bought it. Recommended.

Drills Review How deep can this bit drill?
I bought a bit similar to this, but it could only drill about 3/8 of an inch deep. Is this bit able to drill to 3/4 of an inch of depth? If so - I'll buy it!

Drills Review A quick and accurate way to predrill hinges
This bit drills just the right hole for it's specific purpose. Only negative is that it tends to clog with wood shavings and stick. It greatly improves the speed and accuracy of predrilling hinges.

Drills Review These vix bits really do the trick!
I can't remember how many times I have struggled trying to get my pilot hole centered in the middle of a hinge or some other pre-drilled hole. These vix bits really do the trick, and they are made out of quality material as well. Plus, if the bit breaks, you can easily get a replacement bit at a reasonable cost.

Drills Review Bissell
I agree with the previous review...this vacuum works great on carpets but does just blow dirt around on bare floors.

Drills Review Amazing on carpet, amazingly bad on bare floors
After much on-line research, I purchased this machine. It is amazing. The first time I used it, the Bissell picked up so much dirt that you would have sworn my carpet had never been vacuumed before! It left my carpets looking great. However, I couldn't give it five stars because on my bare floor, it just blew the dirt around, so don't buy this machine if you have lots of bare floors.

Drills Review Great every day, light duty tool.
I have had this toolset for a while now and it is still the most used item in my tool chest. For all the little home improvement projects it works great. You can drill, saw and sand and there is room in the case for other tools.
I recommend getting a quick-lock drill/driver set to take full advantage of the portability.
I also recommend getting the 1 hour charger for the battery packs. The batteries are the only weak point of this tool. They wear out fast and the charger that comes with the set takes FOREVER to charge them up again. So if you are tackling a bigger project you might run out of power before you are done and then have to wait. Sucks bg time!

Drills Review Seems like an awsome deal!
While I never used the product mentioned, I own a Black and Decker 18v drill and am totally satisfied. Considering all the tools, this product seems like a real score for the price. I would love a gift like this...

At 700 RPM and 12v, the drill might only be useful for light to medium duty work (cutting doorknob holes or drilling into metal seems like it would be pushing it) but for easy work like making holes in the wall to hang stuff or assembling Ikea furniture it should be adequate.

Black & Decker VP1000K VersaPak Cordless Multi-Tool Combo 4-Pak
Made by Black & Decker
    Amazon base price: $
    Average review score: Drills Review

Drills Review Basically these are toys
The VersaPak tools are very handy, very portable, very lightweight, and as far as cordless tools go, very cheap. Unfortunately, they are just toys.

The drill easily bogs down, and I wore out the bearings after a single use where a light side load was applied. The multipurpose saw uses jig-saw blades, but the safety button is very difficult to press, and if the blade brakes off, you have to throw away the tool. The rotary tool is decent, but underpowered. I replaced the fixed size/collet system on mine with a chuck. The VersaPak batteries do have memory and only last a couple of years. The standard charger also takes 3 to 6 hours to charge (6 to 9 for NiMH), and considering the limited life of these batteries, you will need a few spare sets. I think I have around 7 sets of these batteries, and it's not hard to go through 5 sets on one small project. About the only thing I don't have any complaints about is the flashlight. It lasts a long time and is a good complement to my VersaPak SnakeLight.

In summary, these tools are very handy and very lightweight. Unfortunately, I just wish somebody made ones that are higher quality. With that said, these are cheap and disposable, and I have gone through several of each.

Drills Review Great tools home use
I am a landlord and home repair "do it yourself-er". I bought my first Versa Pak drill around 10 years ago. Since then, I bought this combo pack, 2nd drill, detail sander, air pump, circular saw, screw driver, rotary tool, snake lighe and flashlight (I think that's it, but I might have missed one or two tools I have). I kept buying more tools because the power is sufficient for doing home projects, the reliability is solid, and the batteries last pretty long. My latest projects is building a 7 foot x 3 foot table and six benches, and building a dresser. I do have around 14 batteries, and usually use around 6 batteries during a 6 hour project.

You could spend more, but for general home repair and improvement, this is a great kit. BTW, I also have a 14.4 drill that I never use because these have solid power and battery life.

Drills Review great drill.. but the other model is better
I actually was going to buy this drill with the gel stuff, but I looked down the shelf at walmart and found the same drill with no gel, and an extra battery for the same price. Its a winner no doubt, but I must agree the case is pathetic. I took a dremel to the case and now its all good, but I shouldn't have had to do that...

Drills Review very handy, good torque, good features...
I bought one of these to replace an old cordless I'd busted. After buying a cheaper cordless drill with totally weenie torque and returning it, I found this drill on sale and went with it.
It's been a few months and I have used it alot. The removable drill bit thingie with a driver bit underneath is amazingly handy to use...just drill, pop off the thingie, grab a screw and put it in the hole without removing and replacing the bits each time. The torque is fantastic and the grip is comfortable. The only reasons I gave only 4 stars is because the plastic case it comes in is pathetic...no place to put bits or anything except the drill w/ charger. And having an extra battery would be smart for any drill or cordless tool that gets alot of use, but they didn't include a second battery...but you (and I) can get one here at Amazon.com ...45 bucks a piece...ow.
But I love the drill, it's worth it and I'm getting an extra battery because I use it so much...
If you're looking for a great cordless drill that isn't too expensive...get this one.

Drills Review O.K. GRASS CATCHER BUT NOT EXACTLY PERFECT
Since I bought the Brill Luxus 38 (see my review also on Amazon) and I am very pleased with it, I opted at a later date for the grass catcher. First, the positives: (1) It is very light weight(mostly nylon with a light plastic bottom). (2) The grass catcher also assembles easy and (3) it can be removed and re-attached without any technical worry...folks this is green technology in its simplest possible form. The negatives are as follows: (1) It really doesn't hold that much grass compared to what you might be used to with a regular lawn mower catcher...and it is held at an angle on the mower that allows a small portion of the grass to slide off; (2) it only picks up about 75% of all mown grass as some of the grass sprays past the catcher (3) the construction is a bit flimsy...the nylon could be easily pierced if one hits a rock or tree branch so be careful. With that said if you really need a grass catcher and you have a Brill then go ahead. The price (around $40) isn't that expensive. Overall, it picks up most of the lawn clippings though again don't expect perfection. I'm glad that I bought it and while it's not flawless it seems to do the job.

Drills Review A Sturdy Grass Catcher
The Brill grass catcher is assembled in seconds. It is very easy to hook and unhook from the push mower and seem nearly undestructible. The perfect grass catcher!
