Dewalt is good butDewalt is good but why does Amazon have to bait us and mislead by its claim of a higher retail price of 189.00. It sells everywhere at no more than 99.00
Great gun!Several years ago I retired my corded Makita drywall gun which I had used for years and bought the DeWalt DW272. Since then I have hung my share of drywall and this gun is fast and reliable! The 'dial-up' depth setting is simplicity itself and never faulters. The gun is light; powerful; well balanced; and rugged. For the average homeowner's drywall needs, this gun is all that he/she needs.
I recently purchased the DeWalt DC520 18v drywall gun (which can be very pricey), because I hate dragging around a cord. But for the overhead work I still grab the DW272! This is a fabulous screw gun for the money! If you are in the market for a corded drywall gun, get it, you won't be sorry.

DW272 gunGotta agree with others who find this one of the best, easiest to use guns out there. I gave up on my Porter Cable gun after 2 switches gave out ($45 ea). This gun is comfortable and lightweight. 5 stars!

This is a true screw gunA relative came over to help me install drywall in my basement and brought his Dewalt screw gun. After seeing him run through a box of screws I realized it was pointless for me to try to keep up with my drill and bit attachment. It was more efficient for me to measure and cut pieces and let him take care of the fasteners. I was fascinated at how he would keep the screw gun running with one hand and bring up screws from his apron with the other. Once he got going, his rate was one screw every one-two seconds. Jeff had to leave after a couple of hours but left the Dewalt for me. It was then that I learned the features that allowed for this lightning fast drywall installation.
When the trigger is depressed, the motor runs, but the tip does not turn until it is also pressed against the work surface. The motor runs at much higher RPM's than my drill resulting in the 1-5/8" screws disappearing into the drywall in a blink. The depth adjustment disengages the clutch at your predetermined setting resulting in perfectly placed screws every time. The drywall paper was perfectly dimpled, without breaking, at every screw. I also found that longer 3" screws installed through joists just as quickly and easily.
It turns out Jeff let me keep his "old" Dewalt because he had a few that he uses for work. I can't wait to use it on my upcoming deck project.
Much better than a drill with a bit attachment. With the built in clutch mechanism, there is no chance of stripping or twisting off the head off a screw. Simply set the depth adjustment, drive the screw, and wait for the clutch to engage. The screw will always be the perfect depth, every time. I was building a deck with someone else using a drill and was able to drive a good 25% more screws in the same amount of time since I didn't have to worry about depth and torque. Be sure and pick this one as it's the only one that comes with a case. You just can't go wrong with a good case -- you'll never loose the other head attachments.
Very useful for anything you want to driveI had a chance to use this screwdriver this past weekend and found to have plenty of power to put drywall up and to put in deck screws through redwood decking it worked great. the set and forget nosepiece was handy. i can't say enough about this dewalt we own many dewalt and other brand tools and this dewalt does not let us down.

You need oneIf you are going to hang more than 20 sheets of drywall get one of these. It makes the job easier, faster and easier to mud later. This gun is light and fits well in your hand.
Specialized But Very UsefulI have an older version of this tool (6801) with less power, no reverse, and a fixed speed rather than a variable. Even with these limitations, this was a very useful tool. I only work with drywall as a DIYer, but the time and efficiency savings from having a specialized tool were worth it for me. This category of tool was one of the things which really differentiated Makita when they started importing to the US, and they continue to do a good job with it in my opinion. If you have a large project involving drywall, this is probably a good investment. Spend some time practicing on scrap - it will probably save you some frustration.
A great drywall gunAnyone who is contemplating a drywall gun because they are still using a drill to hang drywall should give this tool some serious consideration. It is a very affordable tool for those of us that do not do enough drywall to justify the cost of the higher end units, yet still offers the adjustable depth controls, variable speed andlightweight that make one of these tools worth having.

FlawlessThis gun works much better than the Senco guns I have, although I don't like the cord. Easy to change the depth, or size of the screw, tool-free. I have had the same problem as others, a lot of the Senco screws do not work with this gun, but the Pam fasteners work better than Makita collated screws.
Perfect for HardibackerI was laying over 3000 sq ft of hardibacker. It seemed a perfect job for an autofeed screwdriver. I bought a SENCO because my local store was out of the Makita. The SENCO couldn't sink the screws through the Hardibacker. I went to the local rental shop and got a professional version of the SENCO. It was better, but I still had to finish off setting every screw. Finally, I found this Makita. It handled the job perfectly.
Well made works flawlesslyThis product is very well made. Its construction is clearly heavy duty not like some of the other brands that I bought and returned. Drives the screws perfectly every time -- plenty of reserve power. All of the adjustments are on the tool and thus do not require external tools.

Working with the bestI've been in the construction industry for 20+ years and use screwguns on a daily basis. I have used many other screwguns but over the past 5 years it's been hard to find a good screwgun. (Quality always seems to be sacrificed for price). I decided to try your product and was very pleased with it's ease of use and consistancey in screw depth. (counter sinking) This is by far the best screw gun on the market today, I've tried Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee and Black & Decker. Non perform like the Porter Cable. Word of advice, Most people use this product on wood construction, the 4000 rpm model is not as good on wood as the 2500 model. Faster is not always better.
Smooth, Powerful and Durable!I have been using this model for about a year now and am extremely pleased with the overall performance. A great all around screw gun for drywall due to easy twist depth adjustment. Easy to remove nose for all other assembly needs. Takes a beating too. I have had AEG, Makita and Dewalt screw guns and by far, this is my favorite. Handy metal case has upper tray for extra tips and accessories. Take it from a pro...."You can't go wrong with this one!"

quite smooth and reliable I have been using the 6824N for a few months now. I must say it is quite reliable and not as noisy as other screwguns. It saves a lot of time. I can fill a 4x12 sheet in about 2 minutes. It is so much faster than using a regular screwdriver. It is very smooth and sets the screws perfectly each time. It is ergonomically well designed, being well balanced in the hand.

Great screwdriver from decking I purchased this screwdriver for the main purpose of laying deck boards. It work smoothing and is a very quick screwdriver. It takes some a little time to get the hang of it but not long and when you do you can lay down a lot a screws in a short period. I've never had any problems with Milwaukee, and would recommend it over any other brand. Wish it came in a case but that is the only negative I hve for this purchase.
Power to Burn!...This Milwaukee driver is perfect! If you are looking for real power, this is the driver! Hit the trigger, and it will almost twist your wrist. A very versatile tool, it will dimple drywall with zero damage, yet drive a screw (3 1/2") into 75+ year old studs without hesitation. The adjustment is able to change drop-off depths by 1/64". Once you set it up, it never changes. Changing bits is easy, too. The whole nose snaps off to change bits, and you don't lose your adjustment. This is one of my favorite features since my former drywall gun nose piece had to be screwed off to change bits, then readjusted. I was a little concerned about the low max RPM (2500 RPM). (Must be a guy thing!) This is more than enough speed. The trigger is very sensitive to pressure, so speed can be regulated easy. As usual, Milwaukee Tools are the best! The only drawback was delivery, not the tool. I ordered it on June 28th, and received it August 9th. Order it before you need it ...

DeWalt, Pay AttentionLarge drywall project, 5 people, inexperienced to professional. I made a joke upon arriving about finally having a good tool to use (they already had a DeWalt gun). As we worked, I found that everyone preferred the P-C gun by a wide margin, including me. It is not like the DeWalt doesn't work and the P-C does. The P-C seemed to be lighter, had better trigger control, felt better in your hand, and seemed to work better overall (fresh bits maintained in both guns so that was not a factor). No one could say that one thing was vastly superior, but everyone preferred the P-C gun. The professional had a P-C gun the next day replacing his DeWalt - the DeWalt was never picked up the 2nd day. If you decide to get the gun, you can beat Amason's price by a bunch (well over $20).

This is one great drywall tool!I am a weekend remodeler, engineer by day. I got into some drywalling and wanted to do it right. I dont like keeping track of all the different batteries I have floating around, so I want with the corded screwgun. The strip feed is really a godsend, since I usually am doing the tough work by myself. You would be amazed how productive you can get with one hand with this screw gun. Just watch, however:
-The longer screw bit for the autofeed attachment is NOT available at home depot or lowes - you will have to track down a specialty fastener store to buy them. I could not find them anywhere on-line;
-after you chew up the two screw bits that come with the screwgun, consider buying the square-drive screw bit with square-drive screws. You will reduce your damage rate to the screw bits - and they are very effective in giving you the required torque.
the change over between the screwgun with the autofeed and just a plain screw gun takes less than a minute. I am very pleased with this purchase.

BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO DRYWALL I have hung drywall for 35 years and had always nailed it. I had used the ds 200 both 2300 and 4000 rpm My employees and myself thought they were great except for the battery mount. When they came out with the DS 202 they had fixed the problem. I currently own 15 of these guns and they are great. We put in about 30,000 screws a week and I have only had one gun wear out. I wish they had these years ago it would have saved alot of wear and tear on the wrist and forearm.
