Jig Saws Review The barrel grip vesion shines, but see Ridgid for top handle
I own the barrel-grip version of this jigsaw and really like it; although, I had to buy it from Tools Plus since Amazon doesn't carry it. I especially like the 12' long cord.

I use the barrel-grip version of this jigsaw for a variety of remodeling tasks, but it's invaluable as a coping tool, particularly when working with hardwood crown moulding. To use the jigsaw for coping, I highly recommend replacing the factory foot with the Collins Coping Foot (from Collins Tool Company), which allows you to make all sorts of extreme cuts. The saw is held upside down so that it's easy to see the blade and accuratly follow the coping line, and this is where the barrel-grip version of the jigsaw comes in handy because it's so easy to grip upside down. There's no handle to get in the way. I'd give the barrel grip version 5 stars without reservation.

The other day I was dismayed to see the exact same saw as the top handle Metabo jigsaw for sale at Home Depot. The only difference was that it was marketed under the Ridgid brand and cost about $30 less than the Metabo. I looked at the Ridgid very carefully and it was identical to the Metabo in all ways except color. I suspect there must be a shared product licensing deal between Ridgid and Metabo. The good side of Ridgid selling the same saw is that accessories like the anti-splinter insert should be widely available wherever there's a Home Depot. The 4 star rating is because Metabo charges $30 more than Ridgid for the exact same jigsaw.

Jig Saws Review get rigid
This is the same saw as the rigid (Home Depot). I paid $149 for the first one I got. They went down to $99 with a lifetime warranty. I bought another. They are excellent. I also have a Bosch. These are just as good.

Jig Saws Review Power to spare
Anybody using power tools realises the benefit of having power enough to do the job and some to spare, it's a good feeling to realise that the machine is not going to tear its guts out inspite of it being pushed. Well this machine gives me that feeling when I'm cutting 2x timber with the orbital mode switched on to max. all the other features are just a plus, as far as I'm concerned, I want that work done well. That's not to say I don't appreciate the efficency of dust collection, or the low decibel of the motor whine. So go out and buy this machine it may be a few bucks more ... but it will not disappoint

Jig Saws Review Finally retired the Bosch 1 578 1 Jigsaw
I've retired my 25 year old Bosch 1 578 1 jigsaw. This saw has given me excellent service for 25 years, it's only short comings are you need a special srewdriver to change the blade, it doesn't have a cut blower and you have to plug it in. The 52318 addresses all of these. It's a great saw goes anywhere and for me doing pickup work in unfinished house where sometimes the power isn't in that's important. The only thing I didn't like is the funny little wire guard right in front of the blade blocks my veiw of the cut, but a srewdriver popped it right out so everything is fine. Don't know if it will last 25 years but we'll see.

Jig Saws Review first long run cordless
Out of all the cordless tools I own this one does the most on a battery. I own the bosch corded jig and have not used it once
since having this one.

The tool is made tough, the grip and balance is almost perfect.
The blade change system is phenominal. If you break a blade just pull the lever and the hot broken blade spits right out on its own!! The put a new blade in just push it in!!!

The 18v jig cuts anything with the right blade and really you can use it most of the day before the battery dies out.

I would NOT recomend replacing your circular saw with it the battery is not that, good but for jig saw work it is the best
and will impress the hardcore professional.

I must correct a previous reviewer however, the battery is not NMH(nickel metal hydride) it is NCAD, which is the standard battery used by all tool companies. He is growsly mistaken and readers should always double check reviewers statements I find
many mis- informations written by novice tool users on the Amazon tool rewiews.

What is cool is that when bosch puts out a battery upgrade it will work on this tool, I just dont know why you would need it.

Top of the line tool. Bosch is releasing a new corded Jig saw
that is just like this one and I will not evan consider it,
because once you have this you have no need for the cord!!!!!!!

Jig Saws Review Splinter free cutting.
I bought these blades to cut do some scrollwork in some marine grade plywood and there was almost zero tearout. Very smooth cuts. The best blades I've ever used.

Jig Saws Review value product
I think this is a great blade for the money. They are sharp and last long - I usually wind up breaking them before they dull.

Jig Saws Review Simply the best
I have a couple of jigsaws (including a Bosch barrel grip) and these blades are the best I have used. I prefer the Bosch blade style anyway, and this particular Bosch blade in particular. I have used this blade on many different woods and plywoods and I find the performance to be excellent in every material. The cuts are usually splinter free and the thin blade design allows for accurate curve cutting and scrollsaw-like precision. Though the blade is thin, it is surprisingly sturdy (they don't break too easily).

I highly recommend these blades to all finish carpenters and woodworkers. They are top notch and this is a very good price!

Jig Saws Review The Swiss Make Great Knives, and Jig Saw Blades
On the side of these blades is imprinted "Bosch" and "Swiss Made" (for Bosch) These blades are scary sharp. The instructions tell you to wear gloves when installing them. My ego told me different, so I skipped the gloves. One of the blades touched, or should I say just glanced lightly against my finger, and my skin immediately created a fine shred. Oops. Now I wear gloves. These things are definitely sharp. I don't have another blade in any category that are as sharp as these. Exercise caution when using them. Of course this makes for a great jig saw blade. They effortlessly go through material. With three different levels of coarseness, you can meet any task. The 30 pack has ten of each, coarse, medium and fine.
With a 4x8 leftover edge of a piece of plywood as my guide, I used the jig saw to cut an edge on a piece of MDF. It was so smooth and even, that I only touched it lightly with a sanding block and 120 grit to produce a factory edge. That is saying something for a jig saw.
I am using these on a Bosch jig saw, that I can not say enough about. These blades work well, I understand, on any jig saw that takes the T-blade style.
You can't beat the price. Everything is cheaper by the dozen. The 30 pack enables you to buy a blade that is way sharper and resilient than any other jig saw blade I have ever used, and at a price that can't be beat as well.
I bought the Bosch metal cutting blades for the jig saw as well. Jig saw blades are something that needs to be renewed due to the unusual material and positions we put them through, so you might as well buy a pack and save the money. Just be sure and wear some gloves when changing them, or concentrate on only touching the back edge.

Jig Saws Review Great Value
10 each of fine, medium and rough cuts. All great quality and only a buck each! You can't go wrong.

Jig Saws Review Talk about BANG for your buck!
I purchased these when I bought my Milwaukee sabre saw..they're terrific! When you think that it's a buck a blade there is no way that you can go wrong! I keep looking at the pack & thinking I should order more because I can't believe the price I got them at. I've cut everything from rough wood to laminates with them and can't say enough about them.

Jig Saws Review Super Nova
I bought the Makita 4341 FCT because of the reviews listed here.My old Jig saw was 40 year old B&D.I was looking at a Milwalke but concerns where expressed with the blade changing. The Makita blade change is fast and easy taking less than a 3 seconds.Using the Bosch blades I was impressed with the power of the saw cutting through 1 1/2 of plywood.Vibration seemed to be quite low.The on/off button would be better as a toggle switch but this is a minor point. I'am glad I bought the barrel type as I can see you have more control plus enables you to get in to tight spots. The LED light works but could be even brighter for my tried eyes it certainly better than nothing at all.The soft start is a bonus plus. The Makita case is notlike the old metal ones this a plastc effort hardly gives enough room for the cord and a couple blades packages.I say drop the price and forget the case minor point though. All in all I am happy with the Makita 4341FCT Barrel Grip.

Jig Saws Review Best jigsaw I've ever used!
Plenty of power, comfortable to handle, and has less vibration than any jigsaw I've ever used. Even the light, which I at first thought was just a gimmick, has come in handy on several occasions. I also own two Milwaukee jigsaws, two Bosch jigsaws, and have used numerous others, and while the Milwaukee and Bosch saws are excellent tools, in my opinion, the Makita is definitely the cream of the crop.

Jig Saws Review H. Macias - Finish Carpenter
I used to own a porter cable jigsaw. After I read a tool test in one of my wood magazines, I sold my PC and bought me the Makita. One of the best decisions I've ever made. I should have bought this one the first time. It is just a great power tool. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anybody that is thinking of buying a jigsaw. It is powerfull, handles awesome and it is very quiet.

Jig Saws Review Should be called the Superblade
I got this blade as an extra blade when buying the Bosch T144D (which are also excellent). This blade provided smooth finishing to both the top and bottom of the wood and provided a excellent smooth and quick performance.

However I did come across one problem. Do not under any circumstance run this blade on chipboard, my uncle used this blade to cut the worktop (sink hole) and he managed to burn the blade. Looks like that the resin level in the chipboard doesn't allow this blade to cut as well as it normally does. Otherwise this blade is an excellent blade for all other types of wood that do not contain resin.

Jig Saws Review Excellent all rounder - even for hardwood
For the last 9 months I have been searching for a suitable blade for cutting 20mm Hardwood floors, usually Oak or Merbau. I require both a clean, splinter free cut for going across the grain but also a fast cutting blade for cutting along the grain, up to lengths of 2 metres. At last I have found one! The T234X is superb. It gives almost mitre saw quality cuts across the grain and cuts at great speed along the grain. I broke five "regular" Bosch blades this morning, I only used the one progressor this afternoon and it is still going strong. This is the only blade I will buy from now on, I recommend you try it too!

Jig Saws Review Cut quickly, Cut clean
In my experience, this blade makes a fine, straight, usually splinter-free cut in thick and thin solid wood. I have used it on redwood and pine in various dimensions with great results. I have not personally used it on particleboard or plywood, but if Bosch says that it will work equally well on those, I will believe it. Buy a pack and try it for yourself.

Jig Saws Review Time To Upgrade
First let me say that 97% of my portable electric tools and air staplers/nailers are from Porter Cable. They and Delta remain my standards for comparison. I broke my old PC 348 jigsaw and nearly cried when I was told that most critical parts are no longer availabe. But then, I purchased it back in the late 70's so it has been a true workhorse. So what to replace it with? After much research and hands on at various tool stores I settled on the DeWalt DW331 and let me tell you that this is one fine machine in every way and that the yellow D can be very proud of this product. I rate it a full 10. Wonder if I can get 20+ years out of this one - I think perhaps. Best feature - the ability to flush cut to the wall. WOW!! The vibration is minimal, the adjustments are rock solid, the grip is as good as gets for a top handle, and jeesh there is gobs of power. Buy this one if you want to own the current standard for corded jigsaws. Oh, the yellow means it can't hide in the pile - it's like its saying "I'm over here, silly".

Jig Saws Review the best I use so far
Over the years, I have used jig's from others companies, and by far this is a sweet saw, the blade changer is great. and it just flows thur wood. I would buy another, and wonder why it took me so long to buy this one.

Jig Saws Review Best Jig Saw ever!!
I work in a car audio install bay. We use and abuse a jig saw on a daily basis. I bought this Dewalt to replace a Bosch that our shop has used for years. The Dewalt outperforms any other jig saw that we've used in our shop. A+

Jig Saws Review Porter Cable Bayonet Saw
I have used the previous permutation of this model which did not use the new hooked blades. Should be pointed out that the new hooked blades are not required for this new model [you can use the older type] but it is designed to be used with these blades and, why not? It's always a good idea to obtain a supply of blades in advance, esp. if one is going to use the new hooked blades because they are not as common. Also, fresh blades make for better cuts.

The manual instructs to set the rollers that sit on either side of the blade in such a way that they are just barely touching the blade. Objective is not to create friction here but to keep the blade properly oriented. On the unit that I was shipped I found that this adjustment was nearly impossible because, when the screws holding these rollers in place were loosened, it was found that there was practically no "play" or movement in them. As a consequence, there wasn't any real need to set these rollers.

In all other respects I am pleased with the saw. It does everything that it's represented to do, seems to be a rugged tool and appears to be well made. All-in-all, a good choice.

Jig Saws Review The first and the best jigsaw made!
Robert Bosch pretty much has the market cornered with worm drive saws, rotary hammers and jigsaws. I bought the top handle version about 5 years ago and decided to buy the barrel grip because of the control aspect. I'm glad I did. This is by far the best jigsaw money can buy. As usual, Norm got it right. He uses all P.C. except for his plate jointer and his Bosch barrel grip jigsaw. (Bet that chaps P.C.'s a_ _). Buy this saw. You won't regret it.

Jig Saws Review Superior control with the barrel grip
I purchased this tool hoping that the barrel grip design would give me much better control than the top handle Freud I have been using. I reasoned that better control would lead to better results.

My choice to go with the Bosch was based on the outstanding reviews this saw has received. After using this saw on my last 3 projects, I am just delighted with it. The barrel grip is just wonderful to work with. The quality of my work has been greatly improved because of the great control offerred by the barrel grip design. I don't believe I will ever go back to a top handle.

I am a big fan of Bosch's tool-less blade changing mechanism. Not only is it a unique design, it is quite functional, quick and easy to use. Two thumbs up for that!

The saw dininitely has all of the power I need. I have easily cut through 1" thick hard maple. It is very smooth and has little vibration. When used in conjunction with Bosch blades, you will be able to produce some nice, clean cuts.

In conclusion, the Bosch 1584AVS barrel grip jigsaw is solid, uniquely engineered, powerful, smooth and easy to control. I am gladly rating it 5 stars and enthusiastically giving it my endorsement. I am 100% happy with this purchase.

Jig Saws Review The Best There Is
This jigsaw has no comparison. You can make a smooth cut in 1\4 inch plywood, change blades in about 15 seconds, and then easily cut though a 2x4. I lost my first saw, so I am buying another one. I like every Bosch tool I have bought.

Jig Saws Review Fine blades
These blades cut cleanly and retain their sharpness for quite a while. Although I have blades for finer cuts, I have found they're unnecessary since these work so well and I don't want to take the time to change. Bosch blades plus Bosch jigsaw makes a killer combination. Word of caution: no blade is invincable. I've tried to go too long on a worn blade and have snapped the blade on 2 occasions. Guess I just got spoiled by their durability.

Jig Saws Review Cuts so fine, no sanding required!
This blade is just plain AWESOME!

It cuts like butter... Extremely FINE cuts... Easy to control...

In my opinion, this is the BEST jig saw blade in the World, and will continue to be for years to come!

It's hard to find the words to fully describe it... It's wonderful!

Jig Saws Review These are scary sharp
The swiss make great knives and jig saw blades! :-) These Bosch blades are swiss made. It is stamped on the side. The instructions tell you to wear gloves when changing blades. I didn't listen, and my finger glanced against the edge, and it created a shaving of my skin. Do I wear gloves when I change bits? No, but I am very careful to grab just the back of the blade.
Blades this sharp make a very clean cut, and will fly through the material. I cut an eight foot piece of MDF with one of these, using a straight waste edge of a sheet of plywood as a guide. It came out so well it looked like a factory cut edge.
Combining these blades with the Bosch jig saw, gives you the best combination in the industry. Highly recommended.
