Accessories Review Solid, quality flash
The SB-600 has what we expect most from Nikon products: quality construction. It's difficult to say that one company's plastic is better than another, but when you examine the minute detail in construction, Nikon seems to err on the side of being a little thicker, heavier rather than thinner, lighter.

This flash does the simple things well. It certainly does an excellent job of giving us better exposures and more power compared to built-in flashes. Slide-it-on, turn-it-on simplicity, and you'll get great shots.

The only complaint I have is with the ease of menus when you wish to do advanced lighting. Doesn't it seem odd that the are books on how to use Speedlight flashes? They really shouldn't be as difficult as they are, and they should be a bit more consistent from model to model. Canon flash units do pretty much the same thing, but are much easier to setup.

This is the flash to get for current Nikon digital SLR cameras, unless you need the small power advantage of the SB-800, or need the SB-800 to fire multiple flashes. The 800 has a few other features, but one's infrequently used at all.

Accessories Review NIKON SB-600 FLASH
THIS VERSITAL SPEEDLIGHT HAS COME IN QUITE HANDY WHEN YOU NEED THAT EXTRA PUNCH FOR INCREASED DISTANCES. IT'S DEPENDABLE AND POWERFULL AND A WELCOME ADDITION TO MY CAMERA BAG.

Accessories Review This flash unit is great.
I bought this flash for use on my Nikon D200 and it works better than I had hoped. You can fine tune it for your own personal liking and it has more options than I am currently smart enough to use. But don't worry, you don't have to be a super camera geek to get great results right off the bat. This thing has great "reach" as it actually zooms right along with your lens to pinpoint your subject. It's just audible enough to let you know it's doing that. I'm definitely glad I bought this thing. MUCH better than the small pop-up flash.

Accessories Review Solid economy value
This is a nice saw for the money, no problems with it. I've had one project where I wish I had a 12-inch saw or sliding miter, otherwise this works for everything around the house from chopping 2x4's to fine trim work. It's light and easily moved too. The blade that comes with it is OK and works for trim work, but it would be nice if an 80-tooth blade was included!

Accessories Review Great saw for small - medium sized projects.
I've had this saw for a couple of years. It is a great saw that has never bogged down or been at a loss for power. The horizontal handle is superb. The blade is not that bad either, however it did splinter some oak & some plywood I recently cut. The only drawback is the size. I recently had to cut some shelves that were 9" wide; too big for the saw. I wish I had the 10" sliding saw (36-240). If you plan to keep your projects small to medium sized this is an excellent saw. ! If you are doing larger projects, i.e. shelves, bookcases, etc. then invest in the Delta Sidekick 36-240 sliding miter saw. I have also added a LaserKerf to mine, which is a great addition ...Over all, this saw is phenomenal for the price and I am going to continue to buy Delta products.

Accessories Review Delta 36-225 Compound Miter Saw
Excellent tool. Easy to assemble and the manual makes it easy to learn how to use. Comes with a very good blade and the side and back extensions are a great asset. The tool is easy to learn and use and is very well finished. Spending more money would be a waste of time.

Accessories Review This is a great sander.
I teach high school Wood Fabrication and Manufacturing and I have two of the Bosch 3727 Random Orbital Sanders in my shop. I have used other random orbital sanders in the past, like Dewalt and Ryobi, and I found them difficult to hold on too. These sanders are wonderful. They are very smooth, create an excellent finish and are very well balanced and stable. You can easily hold on to them with one hand and keep the sanding pad on the work piece. Definitely the best random orbital sander I've ever used.

Accessories Review Great sander!
I have this sander at home and it does an amazing job. I have a Fein vacuum that, when connected to the sander, makes it pretty much dust free. The sanders own dust bag does a good job too but hooked up to the vacuum you really get spoiled.

If you work in a wood working shop everyday the sanders to get would be the Fein 8", 6" and a pneumatic 5" or 6". The Fein has a lager throw so it sands off more with each pass than the Bosch with the same grit paper.

The Bosch however is easier to control, lighter, very quiet (compared to the Fein), less expensive, and a lot more comfortable to use. I work in a shop making furniture so I do a lot of sanding and I have been very happy with this sander!

Accessories Review Awsome piece of equipment
I bought this sander to replace my Dewalt palm sander and I love it. Its a little heavy if your sanding walls or a ceiling but if you're on a flat surface its fine. The paper is a snap to change. This is a truly awesome sander.

Accessories Review Best Saw Ever!
This is my first and last table saw! Easy to set up and cuts perfectly with little to no adjusting right out of the crate. The moble base is an excellent accessory that make it easy to roll to the side when not in use. You will not go wrong ordering this saw. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. Excellent customer service from Delta. The only problem that I had was with the Biesemyer fence. Seems that Biesemyer had a bad production run on the rails that fit this saw. Called Biesemyer and they sent a new set of rails without delay. If you have problems with the holes not aligning up with the table saw, let Biesemyer know. Other than that, excellent buy!

Accessories Review You will be happy
this is a great tool. It may often be more than you actually need, but I can't imagine it ever being less than exceptional. If you have the room and the money, I would not hesitate to buy this saw.

You will want to consider where you will put it and how you will get it there. With the 50" fence it is very big, and your 220V needs to be located correctly so the cord can reach and you are not tripping on it. These are things I did not think clear through before the saw arrived and I should have. The other thing to think about is that it is extremely heavy, and it ships in effectively one piece. I needed a lot of help getting it into a basement shop, and after I got it there I decided I could never move. Assembly is simple, and everything is rock solid. After you have it in place, all that weight (and the associated power) is a wonderfull thing.

I am very happy with the fence, and have no complaints about the mobile base, though if the floor is not level, it does not have much clearance when you are moving the saw.

Accessories Review What a Deal
Delta really thought about the entire package when they put this together. Not only do you get one great saw, but they include the mobile base, a great blade, the table board, and the zero clearance table insert. They have taken all of the guess work out of buying multiple items for a saw and wrapped it into one package. ...

It you're comtemplating over a smaller contractors saw for your shop or a cabinet saw, go with the cabinet saw if you have the room, you won't be disappointed. I was so close to buying a Delta contractors saw, I'm glad I laid out the additional funds and went with the cabinet saw.

The saw is heavy, you need one or two friends to get the saw off of the skid and onto the mobile base and a friend to help you align the cast iron extension wings. Other than that the saw can be put together by one person. It took me about 5 hours total, working over a couple of days to get it together. The saw cuts straight and true and needed very little initial alignment. The fence made by Besymeiser is the best, you can't go wrong with it. I've added the Delta outfeed table to it (see review), and would highly recommend adding some kind of outfeed table to the saw to make cutting long board that much more easier.

Overall I am very happy with the saw, it is the backbone of my shop.

I Would buy another Delta cabinet saw if I had to, but I believe I'll never have to replace this saw.

Accessories Review excellent tool for the home owner
easy to use, blade changing is simple, heavy duty for most all home jobs, great ergonomics , excellent tool for the price.

Accessories Review The saw for everything...
This saw is the one tool everyone needs to have...it's the tool that seems like it can cut anything that needs to be cut, except maybe for mouldings. So much power, light-weight, blade changes are way easier than they used to be, and it's an American-made Milwaukee so you know it'll last. Enough said.

Accessories Review The original - why get anything else?
I had used recip saws over the years, but never enough to really justify purchasing one, or so I thought. That all changed when I got the 10-amp Sawzall listed here. I've found this saw to be useful for all sorts of home improvement cutting chores.

This tool is very smooth, quite a bit less vibration than I have experienced with other recip saws. All the Milwaukee blades I have tried are high quality and work well. Ten amps is more than enough power for what I need, and this models seems to be a nice compromise in weight/power.

I avoided the big box stores after hearing stories of 'price-leader' models, and went to a tool dealer to get a reconditioned version. My 'remanufactured' Sawzall appeared to have never been used. No breakage, no complaints in the two years I've owned it.

I'm not a brand snob - at least when it comes to deciding between the larger, reputable name brands, and have had good luck with Makita drills and saws in particular. But honestly it never occurred to me to buy anything other than a real Sawzall. Like the original Skilsaw, they're just that good.

Accessories Review It will do.
I bought the item because the Starbucks, where I have coffee every afternoon, is not well illuminated. As I am almost an octegenarian, this interferes with my reading the Wall Street Journal. I became acquainted with the above item because my son gave a cheaper version, at Christmas, to all the grandchildren. I was intrigued and when I told him of the problem, he recommended the above version as being better suited. He was correct, though at times, when in use, it shuts down when it should stay on. I was able to diagnose the problem as due to my head movements, or general vibrations in the area, slightly shifting of one or more of the batteries so they loose contact. It's annoying, but could be easily corrected by the manufacturer.

I purchased the light for a very reasonable price ($29?) and free shipping! The light works GREAT. It is much brighter than the original one that had only 3 bulbs. I like the less restrictive elastic cord and zinger over the more cumbersome bands. A great item at a GREAT price.

Accessories Review Came at the perfect time
The day after this little jewel came, I had to repair the drain stop in the quest bath. I, as always, could not seem to get the flash lite in the right position to see up behind the sink. Then I thought of my new little lite. I put it on my forhead and kaboom, it lit up the area that I wanted to see like daylight. I also found it very handy handy when I'm doing work on my lathe or mill. The light goes right where I'm looking and you don't even know it's there. One of the few products that I have purchased in recent years that really exceeded my expectations.

Accessories Review Very useful tool
I am a novice "weekend" carpenter. I recently purchased an older home that has needed a bunch of work which I like to do myself to the extent possible. My wife was getting frustrated with how long it took me to get projects done and was threatening to call in some expensive help.

I bought the palm nailer because I could not foresee enough projects to justify the cost (and storage hassle) of buying a framing gun. The palm nailer seemed like an interesting solution. I bought the Senco A9 because of Senco's reputation and the reviews that I read here. (I considered the A20 with all of the gadgets, but read a couple of things about it that scared me, so I decided to stick with what seemed to be the best.)

I can't compare this to other palm nailers, but so far this has worked great. It's pretty fun to use, and it has fulfilled my stated purpose of speeding up my work. When I need to bang something together (especially in awkward or high places, such as building storage spaces above the garage rafters), I can finish the job in a fraction of the time.

Also, our home is plaster, and driving a nail with a palm nailer creates a lot less vibration (and potential damage to plaster) than a hammer in my novice hands (and probably, for that matter, in anyone's hands).

This has definitely satisfied my desire to have a tool to allow me to quickly drive big nails without having to buy a framing gun. Assuming it holds up, I would recommend this to anyone.

Let me add a few items for those potential buyers who are novices. I had done some internet research on palm nailers before buying this (i.e., google searches, etc.) but had not spoken to anyone who had actually used one. Most of this is probably obvious to experienced tradespeople, but these are the things I wish I had known before buying this product.

1. Unlike a traditional nail gun, this device seems to work by percussion (striking the nail) rather than by shooting the nail. It's like a mini-jack hammer. You place the nail inside the guide (the little tube you see sticking out in the picture), press the nail against the surface, and when there is enough pressure in the guide, the little "hammer" inside the guide rapidly hits the nail until the nail has been driven in. Even though it works by percussion, the nailer does not vibrate the nailing surface the way a hammer would.

2. Because it operates by striking the nails, it's pretty loud.

3. Before buying, I had actually thought (don't ask me why, ignorance combined with wishful thinking) that I might be able to drive both round head and 6d finish nails (i.e., nails without heads) with this and have an all in one poor man's finish and framing gun. This is not a tool for driving finish nails, although I actually succeeded in driving a couple with it. First, because the heads of finish nails are small, it's hard to make them sit straight in the guide. Second, this nailer is activated by the guide pressing (with some force) against the nailing surface. In my experience, you will definitely leave marks on the surface being nailed. In other words, don't think this can be used as a finish nailer!

4. I have had a little trouble getting the nails to sit straight in the magnetic guide. Because the tool is meant to accomodate nails of different size, the nail does not sit tight/flush in the guide. As you are pressing the nail against the nailing surface, I sometimes end up pointing the nail in an unintended direction. I'm sure that this will improve over time, but in the meantime, when I am worried about alignment, I go ahead and start the nail with a blow from the hammer and then press the nailer against it and it works fine.

5. My guess is that this is probably a little safer than a framing gun. I don't think it would be possible to shoot a nail across the room with this tool. Also, it's much lighter.

6. Senco's instructions really stink. That doesn't matter if you are an experience tradesperson, but it creates interesting challenges for novices.

All in all, I think this is a great choice for a home handyman/woman who wants a quick way of driving roundhead nails without buying a framing gun.

Accessories Review Pontius P, take note!
My brother-in-law is a carpenter by trade, and when his sister informed him that I had "taken up" home improvement, he immediately presented me with a gift-wrapped Palm Nailer - delighted, no doubt, that I had acquired a pass-time more manly than walking our Bichon Frise. The sad truth is that I only improved my home for a few hours one afternoon, until a misadventure with a wiring kit caused a major local blackout. However to make Raul feel better I now repair to the cellar whenever he pulls into our driveway, and set to audibly firing nails into a variety of boards that I assembled for that purpose. I have found that the Palm Nailer requires little in the way of set-up, and can be readily deployed by novice and expert alike. It truly packs a wallop, and can drive nails through walls, board, planks, and (no doubt) careless human hands with extraordinary power & precision. Speaking of which, the people at Senco must be commended for their admirable candor about the gory dangers associated with this efficient but lethal appliance. Phillip Morris didn't name its flagship product the Marlboro Cancer Stick. Microsoft doesn't call its operating system the Monopolist's Bludgeon. But Senco has named this mighty new tool after the worst-case scenario facing the novice user (although I noticed that they don't yet have a "Digit Severer" or a "Carotid Puncturer" on offer).

Accessories Review great for nailing in tight spots
I actually own the newer A20 model, which is only ... At this price, this tool is a reasonable purchase for the do-it-yourselfer and from Senco's website, I could not find any substantial differences from the pricier A9 model. This tool is great for remodeling work since it can nail in tight locations where swinging a hammer or fitting a drill or conventional nailgun is impossible. For new construction, it works well for attaching metal brackets such as joist hangers. It takes a little practice to start and drive 16d nails straight, but they go in almost effortlessly with little recoil. If you already own a compressor, then I recommend you get one of these-you will avoid a lot of aching arms and blisters!

Accessories Review Sweet, but...
I shopped (data and spec-wise)around for this style of tool and finally decided on the DeWalt 14.4v. As a professional cabinet installer for 4 national manufacturers, I rely on my tools for my income and my high quality reputation million dollar plus homeowners demand. I think I have every DeWalt 14.4v tool made. Even a DeWalt 14.4 bisquet joiner. I like the professional grade 14.4v because it is light enough to use all day long and because most pro grade 14.4v drivers and drills won't "over torque" the screws. I know most contractors like the 18 volt, and I agree for circular trim and recip saws. But, the 18's can take me all the through a cabinet and the outside wall of the house before I can let go of the trigger (not a good thing). I have a couple Bosch 18 volt for heavy drilling in concrete, but all the DeWalt 14.4's have more that enough power to take a 2-1/2" hole saw thru a 2x4 or neatly drill a 1-1/4" forcner bit into hickory and still break off the heads of screws if you want! Back to the DeWalt 14.4 volt IMPACT DRIVER. A really sweet tool and drives the screw straight and slightly countersunk without splitting face frames or braking the heads off the screws. Well balanced, nice weight for all day use on a single charge (XRP) but, a bit loud (actually they all are). BUT...Unfortunately, I only had the tool for about 10 days before it and all the rest of my DeWalt 14.4 tools (all neatly placed in thier cases with xtra batteries and chargers)and a couple brand new XRP batteries, were stolen. %#@!*&^$%$!!! I had to replace this new tool immediately and local resources had none (DeWalt 14.4 any way). So, I ended up with a Makita 14.4v (it was my orginal 2nd choice) and I can tell you, I liked the DeWalt better. The quick release is much smoother for single finger releases (the Makita actually takes two hands to change a bit), slightly quieter and felt better in hand than the Makita. The flat bottom of 14.4 battery held it upright and stable on inclined surfaces. Suffice it to say, the impact driver is THE tool for driving screws, and the DeWalt 14.4v is the front runner in my opinion.

Accessories Review Noisy, but strong
I was a bit skeptical about this tool after I purchased it, and I took a lot of ribbing at the jobsite because of its size and the noise it made, but after it drove 4 inch wood screws into a door frame they shut up. It takes a little getting used to if you want to us it to fasten drywall, but it isn't hard. You also go through a lot of bits because it is so powerfull it shatters them. You also have to buy a chuck if you want to drill with it.

For the money, I don't think I have ever bought a better drill/screw gun. We burn out a lot of drills on the jobsite and when I finally wear this on out I will definately buy another to replace it.

Accessories Review A dream to use
I had recently used a friend's DeWalt 12v impact driver (and loved it), so when I had the opportunity to pick this 14.4v driver up cheap I jumped at the chance. I expected great things from this tool and I have not been disappointed.

Whenever I can't get good leverage on my regular 14.4v DeWalt drill/driver it tends to strip the screw heads towards the end of the drive. Not so with this baby. If you are starting with a new or undamaged screw, this driver will sink it into anything short of concrete without stripping the head. Other benefits include the small size of the driver itself and a really nifty chuck device.

As for downsides: You hear this a lot, but when this thing goes into "impact mode" it is loud. If you happen to be in a small room such as a bathroom you will really notice how loud it is. Also, you have to use hex headed bits and drivers with this thing, and that could lead to a bit of expense if you don't have any already.

Before buying this impact driver I was in a pretty common situation. I already owned a 14.4v drill/driver and had to wonder if I needed this one too. I am sure a lot of people who will read this review are in the same boat. My answer to this is yes and no. You can get by forever with just a drill/driver, so you don't NEED this tool. But speaking from a convenience point of view, once you buy this and cease to strip screw heads no matter what material you are screwing into, and once you get used to applying about 1/4 of the pressure that a drill/driver takes, you will love this tool forever.

I made sure that my drill/driver and my impact driver were of the same voltage so they could share batteries and now use the drill for drilling (duh) and the impact driver for driving and spend a lot less time swapping back and forth between drill bits and driver bits.

I highly recommend this as a well made and high performing tool.

Accessories Review What happened to the price?
I have this belt on my table saw and can recommend it without reservation. However, this always sold for under thirty dollars on Amazon but the price recently jumped to over ninety. What's up with that?

Accessories Review The vibration is gone
I purchased the powertwist belt for my Jet drill press just recently on a hunch that it would help eliminate some of the annoying vibration. I thought the drill press was just not well balanced and built to marginal tolerances. It was amazing how adding the power twist belt virtually eliminated significant vibration. The drill press is like a totally different tool. My advice to Jet or Delta is: Put one of these on at the factory. The only gotcha is the directions are not as clear as they should be and I would think that people with poor eye hand coordination, arthritis and visualizing things in space may have a little frustration at first ( but if they do what are they doing messing around with sharp, spinning, grinding things anyway?)

Accessories Review Keep the old girl
I was ready to get rid of my saw, and buy a new one. Even with a new belt, it vibrated so bad, the pullies would come loose. I put this belt on in a couple of minutes, and it was smooth as could be. I definitely recommend this belt.

Accessories Review Rayovac discontinued production
I am a owner of this battery charger. The quick charge time is very nice, but the battery feels a bit hot to the touch after the charge. I always wondered if the battery is going to last long.

Rayovac has discontinued production of this battery type. In a few month the supply of batteries would have disappeared. If you are still interested, make sure you buy a few extra batteries because you will not be able to purchase them after the supply runs out.

Accessories Review The Fast and the Furious
I'm really impressed by the way this product has worked so far, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. After 15 mins or so, the batteries are fully charged and quite hot though.
I've found that these batteries doesn't work with some appliances such as digital clocks, maybe because they have an output of only 1.2 volts, instead of 1.5 alkaline batteries have.

Accessories Review GREAT!!!!
THese batteries work better and last longer than any other brand of tyoe I've ever used. I haven't charged mine for 3 days, and I've used them in my camera constantly. You'r batteries died? It will charge them in 15 minutes or less - no joke. It does make a whining noise, but only for 15 minutes.
