Miter Saws Review it gets no better
This stand is sturdy and well made. The finish is excellent and it is simple to put together, since most of it is already assembled. You only need to add the legs and wheels. But most important is how easy it works. From fully folded to fully open (or vice-versa) in just a couple of seconds. It folds up like an ironing board, only easier. It takes longer to retract and store the extension arms than to fold the stand. It rolls easily, whether open or closed, so if you only need to move it a short distance there is no need to fold it up. Once folded and stood on end it is well balanced and there is no danger of it tipping over.
I agree with Victor H. Agresti "remodeling-guy" (another reviewer) on the direction the axle bolts should go through the wheels, and assembled mine from the outside of the wheels with the threaded end on the inside of the frame. This is opposite from Delta's instructions, but prevents the threaded end from projecting beyond the wheels and catching on a door facing.

Miter Saws Review Great saw stand
I was originally going to buy Bosch's miter saw stand but was glad I didn't. I decided that I didn't want to be fumbling with legs of a sawhorse, which the Bosch stand basicly is. I also considered Ridgid's stand but didn't like the multiple steps that were required to set it up (not that there was too much involved).

The Delta 36-136 stand sets up easily with a tug with the help of a pneumatic shock. Loosen 2 knobs to extend the support wings and raise the rollers to the desired height. It's simple and it works. The wheels make moving it simple; I usually work in the driveway to avoid sweeping out the garage. The fact that it stores upright and has a small footprint was a big deal to me since I have a 1 car garage that I like to park in.

My only regret is that if the wheels were slightly larger diameter, it would be easier to get up and down steps, but it's a negligible complaint.

Miter Saws Review Looks cool, seems solid but a real pain to assemble!
I have never understood how any manufacturer who creates products for buyer assembly have never ever tried to assemble their own products! I'd love to give the CEO, Board of Directors and their Design Teams their own individual Scroll Stand Saws to assemble! I am certain that the product would be redesigned within hours and it would then be a snap(hint, hint)to quickly assemble and then bolt together!

Miter Saws Review Sturdy
Went together easy and is very sturdy. My saw operates very smooth on top of this stand. I rate dewalt tools very high.

Miter Saws Review Great Stand
I ordered the recondioned model and I am very happy. I received the item in less than a week. It went together like a charm. It only took 1 hour to put together and to mount the scrollsaw.

Miter Saws Review A waste. Not much of a paper weight either.
Bought this when it came out from a source other than Amazon. This is one of most poorly put together saws it's been my displeasure to use, much less own.
To begin w/ the bevel locking lever and 90 deg. flip stop - when you use them you WILL lose knuckle flesh on these even after you've wrestled the lever around the dust bag. Everything is sloppy as far as the bevel fuction, part of the purpose for buying this saw ya know? Just a really bad set of design flaws. Also, 3 different times I've had a major failure in the table rotating mechanism. Hitachi uses 3 stainless steel "glides"(for lack of the actual part name) as the areas the table rotates against, tese are super thin guage and have tabs that seat them in the main body that the table rotates on. 3 times, about 2 wks apart one of hese pieces somehow unseated, got caught, jammed and crushed while in the rotating of the table and in order to free the tool up - of course in the field - it took an uncomfortable, and audibly unpleasant amount of force to dislodge the table from it's position. As a result, the aluminum surfaces on either side were so severly grooved that it would cost more to repair it than to buy another one. This thing I'm describing is easier to see than to describe but because it's the entire other primary fuction of a miter saw, it's just a little important.
Beyond that ... as long as you simply want to cut 90 deg, it's a beautiful unit. Very light, and the start up and accuracy is dead on. JUST DON'T MOVE ANYTHING!
Lastly, the repair service I just recently tried to have fix this thing said that Hitachi lists it as consumer grade. It shows and it's a shame they're marketing this piece of junk at the price it sells for.
Much as I hate to say it, I think the Delta's new dual bevel miter is a better more rugged tool.

Miter Saws Review So Far So Good
I had been comparing Compund Miter Saws for awhile now and debated between the DeWalt 12" Dual Bevel and this Hitachi. I could not justify the additional $180 to go with the 12" DeWalt. What I like about this saw is the soft start feature. This is a must, especially for a light saw (only weighs 33 lbs.). I do not like the fence height at only 1.5", however for what I use it for, I don't think it will be a problem. I was willing to sacrifice this to get the soft start feature. On a side note, the extension wings and horizontal vise assemblies are NOT included and are an extra $25 each. I thought they were included since the technical data section and the picture displayed through this web site led me to believe this.

Miter Saws Review Nearly Perfect
As an avid wood worker I had problems with my 12" dewalt compound Mitre saw and gave it to my Grandfather and began searching for a new one. I'm the type of person that reads a ton of review and recommendations on a product before I purchase a new tool. This is what I chose. It is hands down the most quiet saw I found, which is important to a woodworker with his shop in the basement. The fact that if bevels left and right saves a lot of time. And after checking for square out of the box. I was as close to perftect as any chop saw I've used. 5 Stars Hitachi has made another great product!

Miter Saws Review Box was dropped!
The saw looks new, but the box arrived with broken seems and crushed corners. Also, there were no staples and just lots of tape holding it closed (i.e Like Chuck R's). The tape was over the shipping label so the damage looks like it occured during transit (UPS sucks!). I'm having a hard time squaring up the fence with the blade, so I might be returning this thing for another one.

Miter Saws Review What a deal!
I have been researching Sliding Miter saws for over a year now. They all have many good points, and each has at least some room for improvement. I ended up with this saw due to it's rugged design and it's accuracy. The fact that I caught it during Amazon special in which I received a Makita 4340FCT just made the deal all the sweeter since I had already decided upon the 1214. I am in engineering field but do woodworking and remodeling on the side with goal of building fine furnature in near future. Even though the saw does max out to 60 degrees, it is direct drive, no blade vibration or wobble and its accuracy is excellent. The Miter saw arrived within 3-4 days after purchase and this was using Super Saver Shipping just after the Holiday. Box was in perfect shape as was the saw. I am extremely pleased with both Amazon and Makita. Fit and Finish are perfect. The table turns soooo smoothly. Really no surprises since I had spent so much time researching but if your going to spend this much on a tool, you want to make sure it is the right choice off the bat. I love the tool and the cost was already a great deal before catching the Amazon Special. Overall, a home-run.

Miter Saws Review Packaging and shipping
Box had been opened and then taped closed you could tell because the large stapples were torn out. There was know packing list supplied so I couldn't be sure if everything was there.

Miter Saws Review The Fine Print
I purchased this saw believing it was made in the USA. The technical data provided by Amazon states the country of manufacture as being the US. I was very dissapointed when the product arrived and found "Made In Taiwan" on the box. I called Milwaukee and was told the US made miter saw, model # 6494, had been discontinued and that the -6 on the end of the model number denotes made in Taiwan. I decided to keep the saw despite this issue, if the quality seemed good. Overall, the saw appeared well made. However I was dissapointed to find a crack in the aluminum base in an area where the casting was quite thin. Needless to say the saw is being returned, and I am shopping for a different brand.

Miter Saws Review good for carpentry, bad for woodworking
I bought this saw as a job site saw, its good for cutting baseboard, 2x4, and casing. It has the best range of degrees of any saw. 59 to the right with 51 to the left. And you can push the bevel cut three degrees to right. All that helps in the field. BUT the bevel doesn't have a positive stop at 0 an 45. What it does have is strong spring that holds and stops it at these places. so if you lean a little on the motor as your tightening the lever, you could easly be off a degree or two from 0 or 45. Not good. The micro adjustment on the miter cuts isn't anything to write home about also. Milwakee makes a big deal of this in their ads, but other saw micro adjust just as well.
The saws motor is load, but doesn't have the high pitch whine the some makita's, hitachi saws have, that's good. It also came with a 60 tooth blade, better than advertised.

I gave it three stars because it only has the wide range on the miter cuts going for it. Other than that its just a chop saw with a good 5 year warrenty. My ideal cabinet shop saw is the 8 1/4 slide hitachi saw.

Miter Saws Review Tough friends last longer.
The Milwaukee Magnum is a serious, heavy-duty tool, that does what it should--makes very accurate cuts, one after the other, all day. I'm very demanding of my tools and I looked at a LOT of miter saws and the Magnum was the only saw that consistantly was top of the class for accurate cuts and durability.

And it delivers. I've used the Mag now for 6 months and this baby is going to be with me for a long, long time. Plenty of power and the cuts are dead on, every time. No deflection, no curved cuts. The flip fence feature is brilliant and I say this because I have a friend who almost lost a finger with another brand of saw that didn't have this feature.

The price, size, and weight probably mean this is not a saw for the occasional-project homeowner. The whole design of this saw is geared toward the professional. If you're just building one deck, this is more tool than you need.

I was also disappointed that the saw is made in Taiwan. It doesn't mean it's not a good tool, though. I also agree with a previous reviewer who mentioned the front adjustment knob sticks out too far and could be bent when moving the saw around.

It's getting harder to find serious tools these days. It's nice to find something that works AND is built to last.

Miter Saws Review Featherboard doesn't fit
Although the Bulldog feather board advertises that it fits standard miter gauge tracks found in 10" saws, it would not fit the track of my 10" Craftsman saw from Sears. Nor is there an adapter available from Bulldog.

Miter Saws Review Cheaper to buy individually
You can buy these individually on Amazon for $28.00 and change.

Miter Saws Review Bench Dog is A Pedigree
I have Bench Dog's RT-250 table saw extension, router table, and it is built like a rock. I bought a few of their featherboards, and this combo kit as well. I needed to find a better way to change the blade on the table saw. What I really want to talk about is the featherboards. This one comes with the 3/4" Miter Track adapter. What that is, is a thick piece of aluminum, that is open in the middle. When you tighten the knobs on the top of the featherboard, it pulls the 3/8" headnut up into the adapter, spreading it. Snugs it into your miter track real nice. Technically if you have some wax or oil in the track, you will have to tighten it well.
By undoing the nut, and removing the adapter, it doubles as a 3/8" T-track featherboard. That is a common size track, and has the advantage of creating a track-tunnel, that the head of the nut will not come out of, no matter how hard we try. :-)
So what about home made featherboards? I'm sure there are those who have featherboard making, down to a science. My personal experience, is that the ribs are either too thick, and resist the workpiece too much, or too thin, and break readily. These Bench Dogs are none of that. Strong, yet gentle, firm enough to hold onto a 2x10 if you wanted them to. Easily adjustable, with just the right amount of tension, and yet finely adjustable for even the smaller pieces of work.
The other big advantage is that they are right there, in the work area, where you want them. No far reaching clamps. You can use one or two, on the table, both as an infeed, and an outfeed guide. Additionally, you may want to have one on the infeed, and outfeed above-on your fence. An inexpensive 3/8" T-Track will give you that kind of pressure and security that these tracks allow. Helps prevent kickback, from a workpiece lifting slightly off of the table saw. It lifts, an 1/8", and gets trapped between the fence and the blade, and out of nowhere, you get a piece of what is now scrap, snapping into your belly. It only happened to me once, but now I stand off to one side of the saw. You may notice that the safety hold downs that come with the better saws, are designed to achieve just that. This featherboard, will take care of that for you.
When routing, I use them. All it takes is a slight lifting of the material, and you have a noticeable defect in the workpiece. With these you get great results every time. You are almost tempted to pause. It holds it that true. If it wasn't for burning, I would go answer the phone, in the middle of a run. :-) Just kidding of course, but you get the idea.
These are substantially made. You could run them over in your car, and it wouldn't hurt them. Will definitely last a long time, and should never wear out.
The big advantage is the amount of set up time you save. It is easy to get the right amount of resistance out of them. Just right, so it ever so slightly slows the work, while maintaining just the right amount of pressure to keep the work true. I was unable to achieve that myself. Bench Dog featherboards keep that artistic posture flowing. Highly recommended.
What about Bench Dog? They are the winners of several accolades, not the least of which is editors choice awards. Once you start to experience the super engineering, and durable quality of the line, you'll know your bitten by the dog. Then you will want to write crazy long reviews, and give it to everone else. :-) Buy them, you won't be sorry.

Miter Saws Review Good beginner, but leaves you short as you grow
I have had this miter saw for about 8 or so years, and use it frequently for home repairs, rough carpentry and most recently woodworking projects. As a beginner it was a decent saw, I used it to frame out my entire basement and for many other projects too that didn't require a lot of precision. It is a workhorse, I've never had a problem with the motor or blade.

But as I've gone on to more difficult and demanding work, this saw has not kept up. It was never very good at miter cuts, the detents that should click when the blade is at 45* or 90* were never accurate, and it is very difficult to make fine adjustments when swinging the saw for miter cuts, especially if near a detent (the saw will roll into the detent instead of staying where you put it). The lack of a handle in front to rotate the saw is a big disadvantage when trying to adjust the angle. You can't get any leverage on the tool to make fine adjustments.

To add to that, it's lighty constructed and the blade wavers from side to side as you move the handle up and down by about a 16th of an inch making straight, clean cuts very difficult. Added to that, the 8.25" blade is too small to cut a 2x4 on edge against the fence, which is extremely frustrating the first time (and every time) you need to do that.

I can't recommend to anyone to buy this saw when for only a very few more $$$ you can get a 10" CMS that will be sturdier and more than likely more accurate too. That said, if you need it for rough carpentry and never need to cut a 2x4 on edge, and don't care much if the cut edge is a little wavy and is probably off by a couple of degrees, then go ahead. Otherwise look for a different saw.

I give it two stars instead of one because it has always been a reliable performer, even if it isn't the most precise tool I've ever owned.

Miter Saws Review Great small saw
I have had this saw for 3 years and have framed a portable building and many other small jobs and its great. If you want a saw which will handle trim, 2x4s, and other small widths this saw is great.

Miter Saws Review Great little saw
I do mean little, because of it's size you are greatly hindered on the maximum width you can cut. This saw is great for anything narrower the 5 inches and is perfect for molding, trim and 2X4. The saw has the power to cut through whatever you need it to (within its size). Bought mine as a trim saw and mild framing saw over 12 years ago and with only a replacement of its brushes (and many blades later) it is still going strong. For a while it had to fill in for full framing work after my 10" died. If capacity is an issue get a larger saw 10" or 12", if its capacity suits your needs...this saw will handle it.

Miter Saws Review not worth the money
good idea but it just does'nt hold up on the jobsite .the locking pins are poorly designed and do not engage after a month or so .waste of time and money .probaly allright for the ocasional user but not for someone uses it everyday.

Miter Saws Review An Excellent stand, and very well designed
After a 1-1/2 month wait (groan - no explanation from Amazon, just backordered), the saw table arrived pretty much intact.... the plastic end caps on the table tubing were all crunched from rough handling in shipping (HTC replaced them free of charge in less than a week). All that had to be assembled was to slide on the wheels and fix in place with cotter pins. A variety of bolts were provided for mounting the saw onto the table - a nice touch! The table's design is very well thought out and requires only a few minutes to setup and to take down. Directions are printed on the table's frame. There are storage places for the outrigger supports built into the table so ALL the parts are on hand ready to go.
I routinely roll it out from the garage and lift it in/out of the back of my Minivan. With a 10" sliding compound saw attached it is a hefty lift but it is no worse than a bucket of drywall compound.
I find that it is very handy when cutting 16' lengths of crown and base molding - the outriggers extend way out to support the molding and keep it from flopping around. One of the supports has a roller, the other a ledge so you can set it to either support the wood from below, or act as a stop for repeat cuts, moving the outrigger in/out to set the cutoff distance.
The large wheels handle rough ground and stepping stones with ease. The table is long enough to allow me (at 6'4") to wheel it around wheelbarrow-style. Two levelers are provided on the table legs to help the saw sit firmly on uneven surfaces, and the outriggers are adjustable in height too. Having spent a lot of time looking at the Delta and Dewalt stands, I am very satisfied with my decision to go with this HTC model.

Miter Saws Review HTC means quality
I have seven HTC mobile bases in use at my woodworking shop and I have never been dissapointed in the quality of their products. It was not a long or hard thought decision to go with the HTC miter saw stand. It sets up easily and is extremly stable while in use. I have the Delta twelve inch laser saw mounted on this stand with no problems encountered while mounting it. You will not be dissapointed if you select this stand for your saw.

Miter Saws Review Dead on arrival....
I just received a Magnum Mitre Saw model 6490 and I am extremely disappointed. I can't believe they make these in Taiwan now. First, it would not even run!!! Milwaukee's Taiwan buddies don't seem to understand that spade connectors are supposed to be TIGHT, not LOOSE!!! The spade connectors for the brushes were loose, and one was NOT EVEN CONNECTED!!! This is a SAFETY Hazard!! I fixed it, since I DO have a brain and understand basic electrical connections. Second, I go to cut the kerf in the plastic insert, and guess what? IT ISN'T STRAIGHT!!! The kerf is not parallel to the sides of the plastic insert, and to top it off, it was not perpendicular to the fence!! What is wrong with these people?! I loved their little 3/8" hammer drill, but this is a piece of crap. I don't even know how to adjust the blade so that it cuts a proper kerf nice and parallel with the insert, and no, the fence was nice and tight, it had not "loosened" in transit. The box it arrived in was undamaged too, so I can only assume that these people don't know square and safe from cocked and dangerous. Worthless.

Miter Saws Review Best on the market
As a professional, and having many other saws in my shop, I can tell you that you can only be impressed by the accuracy and stability of this saw. My workers all enjoy and comment strongly about how much they like it. Thanks!!!

Miter Saws Review Good and Simple!!!
If you're looking for a saw that will last a lifetime this is the one to get! Built to Milwaukee's tough "Heavy Duty" standards this saw has quality written all over it! It may lack the compound adjustments with all the bells and whistles and cost a bit more than a cheap Taiwan model, but outfit this saw with the proper blade or jig and it'll tackle anything from trim work to rough framing! Not to mention, with excellent power and precision. The fifteen amp motor is as powerful as it gets without tripping most circuit breakers. This rock solid machine is vibration free and most of the dust actually goes out the dust port! The high fence and clever wrench storage clip completes this simple design.

What I really like about this saw is the effective blade retraction system. The clear lower guard retracts into the upper blade guard assembly away from snagging your thumb or sleeves as the guard moves upwards. O.K., maybe it's just the way I'm holding the handle with my big hands but I have gotten the pointy joint on my thumb slammed on the retracting path of the DeWalt and Makita guards...Ouch!!! To me, there is insuffient space between the handle and retracting guard on those saws.

Along with the high sticker price, this saw should have came with a set of extentions with stopping block and hold down clamps. These accessories are quite pricey when purchased separately. I guess to enjoy fine dining you must order ala carte just as you would with this fine tuned machine!

Miter Saws Review The motor is perhaps made in the USA and everything else is made in china
I bought the 151991 MK-101 1.5 Horsepower 10" Tile Saw and when I opened the box, right away I recognized the poor quality of the support components, guide bar and cutting guide. The markings on the cutting guide are not precise and looks like someone slap paint and make random markings on it. The cutting guide looks the same like the Mk 370 "made in china" that I returned recently. I did not want to spend time assemble the saw because it reminded me of the bad experience I had with the MK 370. Waist of my time and now I have to go return it. Now that I'm certain, I will not buy another MK product again. It's not made in the U.S.A. and I'm hoping the MK guys are proud of what they are doing.

Miter Saws Review Great cut, pray it holds together!
I bought an MK101 and 2 blades. Cuts granite tiles nicely. I was very pleased! For a few hours... After making several cuts to get acquainted, I tried changing blades. Blade changes are not easy and they are even tougher when the blade lock pin jams, breaks, and then pops out. The blade lock mechanism is cheaply made. I found the customer service terrible and helpless. I cannot find a service center in San Diego county. The company itself has given be several numbers, and everyone I call replys that they do not service MK Diamond. I am sorry I bought this saw and will not buy another MK Diamond product. This is terrible quality and service for an $800 saw.

Miter Saws Review MK 151991 MK-101 1.5 Horsepower 10" Tile Saw
This saw is awesome. I used this to tile a marble fireplace and it worked flawlessly. It cut the marble like butter. I also used this saw to cut some slate and that came out nicely as well. The saw is sturdy and the motor is powerful. I also saved money buying it from amazon. also, the service at amazon is excellent they handled everything quickly.
