Miter Saws Review Makita Saw Application
I bought one of these and it didnt work on my new makita saw. It seems the Blade guard has a protrusion that just hits the laser. So I realized it really didnt need to have a protrusion that sticks out quite that far and I ground it down about 1/10 of an inch. Now the Laser works perfectly on my Makita saw.

Miter Saws Review Unhappy at first but now I'm very pleased.
After reading the reviews for this item here on Amazon, I've decided to give it a try. I picked one up from a local retailer and that same day had it installed on my DeWalt 708. The unit projects a crisp red line, nicely visible even when the saw is sitting outside in the daylight. Upon making a cut, I realized the the laser line is about 1/8" away from the cut!!! Being the kinda guy that I am (like to tinker a lot), I've decided to open up the unit and see if I can make any adjustments. Contrary to popular beliefs, the adjustments are possible but only (!!!) if you are comfortable working around delicate electronics. I had made the necessary adjustments (could be time consuming), closed the unit up and I'm happy to report that the left side of the miter blade drops EXACTLY on the laser line! I'm very happy with it now.
If it wasn't for the fact that the laser was way out then I first got it, I would have given it 5 stars. But because of the work I put into it to make the product useful to me, I'm giving it 4.
Again, the unit is adjustable but it should NOT be attempted by those who feel uncomfortable working around small and delicate electronic assemblies.

Miter Saws Review very good product
this laser guide is very important for thats saw that no come with laser guide from factory. a good product.

Miter Saws Review shafted by Amazon
After waiting for months I was informed that Amazon no longer carried this item. Thanks for wasting my time. I could have got it some where else. I ordered it because I needed it.

Miter Saws Review Never got the item
Alas, I wish I could review it before writing this, but I have waited almost 5 weeks, and the ship to date has changed multiple times. It was a supposed to be for a birthday present, but that has long since passed. They say that it is backlogged, but if you call the manufacturer (Excalibur) they say they have plenty in stock. I called Amazon multiple times, but all I got was lip service. I cancelled the order and ordered from Osborne Mfg. I will have it in a day or so.

Miter Saws Review refreshingly accurate
The EB-3 is truly a pleasure to use. I had a kreg and returned it due to slop. This unit is very stable and very easy to move along the table. The sandpaper bakcing makes cutting so much easier and safer as the wood is rather secure. Setup was very simple, even for me as i am not the best at assembly. I find it to be rock solid and very accurate. I am somewhat puzzled by the other two reviews that question its stability. I ordered mine from Osborne and got it the next day and received a $30.00 discount. It is truly the most accurat miter i have ever had. I also have a Dubby and frankly, that is very good also.

Miter Saws Review same old story
The arbor was out by .012, bars not parallel, trunion washer were coned and not usable, but a pals system fixed all of this and the arbor is now within .001. no problems there now, thanks to all the great advice from othe reviews. definatly get the arbor aligned before putting on the extension tables and fence system. absolutly no problem w/ the belt, can't figure out what the glitch is there for others. Passed the nickel test and runs real quiet.

Then there was the table top, the left wing is beveled on the wrong side (the back side), so now i have to decide between using amazon's great customer service or just taking it to a local machine shop. I think I wil opt for the latter.

Shipping was fine except the fence was a little beat up and has some corrosion on it, nothing that can't be fixed.

Miter Saws Review Smooth, plenty of power, and accurate
I worried over the reviews for this saw and the ones for a competing Jet model for weeks, maybe months. I finally decided to ask my local WoodCraft people which one's best. They helped me figure out that the Delta--at least, in the configuration with the best fence--cost less. Price wasn't my main consideration, but they also seemed slightly keener on the Delta.

So, I bought the 36-717 (with the Biesemeyer fence) there, paying $950 plus sales tax; one of the guys at the store actually delivered it to my house in his personal truck--that was after he spent an hour helping me decide. I had planned on purchasing it from Amazon, because it usually offers the best price, no sales tax, and free shipping, but I see lately that it's playing games with the prices, and with the shipping charges. And the WoodCraft rep earned my business, no question.

The crate that contained the saw was undamaged, and the saw itself had suffered no damage whatsoever; it even came with plenty of extra bolts. The wings are a pain to align correctly, but they did line up okay. Everything was perfectly aligned; measuring with a T-square from the miter slot to the front and back of the blade showed a slight discrepancy, but it turned out that stock blade was a little warped, and I wasn't going to use it anyway.

Like someone else here, I decided on a hybrid because I have to rely on 115 volts--I rent a house in the San Francisco Bay Area, and buying is stupid right now. This (or the Jet) was the most powerful saw I could get.

I was still worried that it might not have enough power, especially with a dado set, but I've had zero problems. I bought a Freud 8-inch dial-a-dado set, and it works wonderfully, even when set to a pretty aggressive depth and going through oak and bubinga. I do wish the arbor were a bit longer--the outside nut on a fully stacked dado set could be easy to strip if you get it on there wrong. But the motor is quiet (for a power saw), and very smooth, especially compared to my old benchtop model. Dust collection with a Delta dust collector is awesome, thanks to the enclosed cabinet.

I bought an Incra miter gauge, which is fantastic; I never even unbagged the stock gauge. Oh, I also bought the Delta 50-941 mobile base, which works very well and fits the saw perfectly, except that it doesn't support the out-table included with this version. No problem; because I'm moving it often, I decided the legs on the out-table were just getting in the way, so I just removed them.

I'm not wild about the blade guard; lumber fits very tightly between the guard and the fence when ripping, and that's with it adjusted as far away as I can get it. It's probably because I'm most often using a (Freud) thin-kerf blade, but there has to be a better way to prevent kickback. Yes, I would just take the thing off, but everyone--*everyone* will eventually have something flying back at them, and I need my eyes.

Overall, I'm very happy with the saw. I'm more than satisfied with the quality of materials and construction. I keep thinking, this 400-pound animal cost half what my 3-pound laptop cost. I'll need to replace the laptop in a couple years; the saw will outlive me.

Miter Saws Review Great Saw
After reading the mixed reviews I was a bit hesitant to buy this saw. However, when I clicked add to cart, I found that the price had dropped to below $700 during some special sale on Amazon about 2 weeks ago. 3 days after ordering it I received a call from the shipping company and arranged for delivery. Everything was intact. Not a scratch. The only problem was the lack of the 1/4 inch hex head screws used to attach the fence to the rail. Other than that, I had no problems putting it together. I didn't put the blade guard and splitter on it because I use a crosscut sled a lot. The tabletop is dead flat. The cast iron wings, however, are not. There is a slight gap about the thichness of 3 sheets of paper ( I don't have a caliper to measure). Finally I was able do make some test cuts and found that I didn't have to make any adjustments to either the miter gauge or the blade. I was either very fortunate or Delta finally worked out the bugs that previous buyers had. I was, however, a little disappointed that my saw has failed the "nickel test".

Miter Saws Review For good results buy something else
I thought this would be a good saw to use inside where space is limited. It does set up easily but takes forever to get the table aligned to the blade. After the table is squared to the blade it only lasts for a couple of cuts. In my opinion, it's not worth the hassle. Buy a better saw with easier alignment. Better yet do yourself a favor and stay clear of MK saws. After cutting 10sf of 12x12 the table will be out by 1/8 inch, which is just plain ugly. Supplied blade is good, pump is okay, but who cares? When laying tile you need square cuts. If you need square cuts don't buy an MK saw.

Miter Saws Review made in china
I don't understand why MK, an American company risked the company's image of quality products and start manufacturing cheap tile saws made in china. I was quite upset when I open the MK 159943 MK-370 7" 1-1/4 HP Tile Saw box and saw the made in china sticker. It takes about 30 minutes to assemble the stand and everything else together. The assembly was easy; however, when I powered on the motor, it made a loud cutter noise and the water pump sucks. I will not buy another MK product.

Miter Saws Review I would suggest a higher end model
This saw has issues w/ rip cuts over 6". It will rip cut 13" tile, but very dangerous. The sliding plate has too much variance, the blade gets nasty after 6", you need 2 hands to secure the tile, so reaching one hand up and over the motor to cut the power is a spooky manuever. The first 13" tile I cut shot out and hit the wall.
The main problem, besides the loose action of that caddy, is that the pump does not direct the water to the blade.
MK Diamond does have excellent customer service, they suggested the 770 EXP for larger (what I consider NORMAL tile). However I am going to buy the MK-100, which is MADE in USA not assembled. I will only use my MK-370 for baseboard cuts and mosaics.
MK is a good company, but they really need to focus more on explaining their products to the consumer. The instruction manual for the MK 370 is pathetic. And why no clamps for securing the tile?!?

Miter Saws Review Blade guard is poor design
The saw cuts well and has plenty of power. The sticking arm on the blade guard broke the plastic attachment point. I've noticed that this is the only model I've seen from Delta that has a plastic attachment point for the blade guard arm. Will keep you in shape moving it around.

Miter Saws Review Short Life Span
I too got a little over one year of use from my Delta 36-220. It experienced a complete motor failure. Repair cost was greater than the cost of a new identical one. The saw worked very well up to it's failure. I would not purchase another Delta Miter Saw!

Miter Saws Review I've punished my saw severely but it's still holding up.
I have been using my Delta 36-220 to cut 3/4 steel rod, 3/4 x 3/4 steel stock and up to 3/4 x 3" steel plates. I installed a metal cutting blade and let the sparks fly. I've melted the plastic insert, melted holes in the dust bag, and popped 20 amp breakers when an "old" blade gets jammed in the stock. I've made hundreds of cuts and the saw just keeps on working. When I switch back to a wood cutting blade, it cuts just as smooth as when the saw was new.

I returned the first unit I bought because the round table rocked in the housing, but the replacment saw was nice and tight and keeps on doing everything I've asked of it.

Miter Saws Review Does not work with SuperSaw
I purchased the Jet Supersaw with the sliding table and the tenoning jig at the same time. I was terribly disappointed when I completed the setup and discovered the jig will not work with my saw--- grrrrrr! It would have been nice to know all of this in advance, but there is no mention of it anywhere in manuals, or other sources. The reviewer who said Jet was going to produce a plate to retrofit to the jig and make it compatible with the Supersaw did not get the whole story from Jet- it is still not available as of this date (1-31-04).

I gave it one star because it looked like it might be a good piece of equipment- that is, if I could use it.

So, if you own the Supersaw with the sliding table- stay away!

Miter Saws Review Very Accurate jig
I am building some dining room table chairs, each one requiring 42 mortise and tenon joints, with a bunch of them requiring angled tenon connections. Tried to cut some of the angled tenons using my tablesaw and dado set, but result was inaccurate and rough. This jig cuts beautiful clean, accurate tenons.

It is true that the scale cannot be used to precisely set the distance from the table saw blade, but I always make a practice cut first anyway before cutting my real work pieces, so this does not really bother me.

Set up only took about 15 minutes, and the miter slot bar is a very good fit into the slot in my tablesaw. Wish I had gotten this tool sooner.

Miter Saws Review Use the right part for Jet Supersaw
Criticism of this jig for jet supersaw would be eliminated if owners would order the right part number 708111SSK for the Jet Supersaw. Amazon does not carry it.

Miter Saws Review Handy Dandy Item
This is very useful - for more than just Crown Molding. When used in conjunction with the clamp, the work piece will not move on the mitre saw. My only reservation is that I wish they were larger to hold larger pieces of stock.

Miter Saws Review Making life a little easier
For a while the catch phrase was "Did I mention I hate crown molding". I had stops for the DW705 and that all changed. I wouldn't do crown molding without these. After buying the new DW715, it was common sense that I had to have them. I wouln't pay over $20 for them however.

Miter Saws Review Easy mitering crown moulding
Before I got these crown stops, mitering crown moulding was like rocket science, now I don't have to think about which way to turn the crown moulding to make a proper cut, I can do it in my sleep.

Miter Saws Review Assembly is PAINFUL
Rating only for Assembly. Purchased stand even after reading other reviews. Have just finished putting together. The other reviews are correct. Lots of pieces and instructions are terrible. Only provided a black and white copy of original Instructions. Hard to see pictures, poorly written, and difficult to follow. With that and some guessing, you will eventually get it together. Several times had to undo and restart some of the steps. Shouldn't be this painful. Bosch needs to start over with the Instructions. Agree with others that would have been helpful to assemble more of it at plant but I am sure Bosch picked cheapest packaging option -- as evidenced by the Instructions.

Haven't used yet. Stand appears to be sturdy. But the trade off is the stand and the Bosch saw together will be heavy -- right at 120 pounds (75 lbs for saw + 44 lbs stand). Something to consider if ever have to pick up both pieces at once.

Amazon ordering and delivery time (standard)was exceptional.

Miter Saws Review Much more complicated and expensive than necessary
One of my guys bought a TracRac about 2 weeks before I bought my stand. We compared side by side and he sold his at a loss to buy one like mine. He hated everything about the TracRac including the fact that he spent about 50 bucks more than I did. My stand? The fully assembled and ready to go DeWalt Mitre saw stand. I happily spent the extra for another set of brackets and STILL ended up cheaper than his. Now I quick swap between my Bosch and my DeWalt, something not reasonable or fun on the TracRac. DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR and buy the Dewalt Mitre saw stand instead.

Miter Saws Review Very Nice Stand!!!
I couldn't find the perfect stand, but this one comes close. Stand itself comes assembled, but the extentions and stops require quite a bit of assembly. Allow maybe an hour. But when you're finished you'll have something to be proud of indeed. Beautiful craftsmanship and materials make this a solid piece of eye candy for the technically inclined. Extremely stable and strong, I have no reason to doubt the claimed 500# capacity. Just well thought out, except for the wheels. Why won't anyone make a stand with larger wheels? The now discontinued Delta and the HD stand are the only ones I've seen with the larger, more functional wheels. The small wheels work fine if you're moving around inside a house, but at some point you're going to want to leave and rolling this thing out to your truck with 4" wheels isn't going to be easy.

Miter Saws Review Good News -Bad News Story
The good news is that the RAS was promply delivered (purchased via Amazon). Also, the documentation is very good and its pretty easy to follow the instructions to set the RAS up and get good square cuts.

The bad news, however, is that the RAS motor ran maybe 30 seconds before it quit! Big disappointment here as you can understand.

More good news: Called the Delta customer service line and got to talk to a live human (with only a minimal delay while listening to elevator music). After maybe two conversations where they gave me things to try, it was determined that the best course of action was to take the motor to a local (about 20 miles away) authorized service center. Turns out that the switch was defective from the factory (contacts fell out). The service rep had the switch on hand and fixed it while I waited. Saw is running fine now.

Another positive: I contacted Amazon (via Email) and they were more than willing to send a truck to my house to pick it up for a return with full refund or replacement.

I'd rate the Amazon and Delta service as excellent ... but the quality control at Delta factory as poor.

    Miter Saws Review Delta 33-830
The cast iron arm and vertical column are very rugged. I'm extramely disappointed, however, in the sheet metal stand. There is a considerable amount of flexing where the column attaches. With very little force I am able to deflect the saw blade by 1/16? Also, the angle brackets that attach the table to the stand are not bent at 90 degrees. When I clamp the table down, the angles force the table to bow by about 1/8" in the center. I just purchased some steel channel and plan to fabricate my own stand that has some structural integrity. The other problem I encountered was the ability for the stop clamp to maintain position. I had a very difficult time squaring the blade to the fence until I realized this clamp was slipping. I've tightened the clamp as hard as I can and it is easily displaced with the slightest jolt from rotating the arm from 45 degrees back to zero. I plan to disassemble the machine, clean out the grease around the clamp and rough up the surface of both the clamp and the column. Once I've fixed the clamp and have built a new stand I'm sure this will be a nice machine...however, with the amount of money spent I shouldn't have to do this.

Miter Saws Review A work horse for very little money
I love this saw. I have used it to make hundreds of cross cuts and done some molding miter cutting with it. I've put a lot of use on this tool for a do-it-yourselfer. I remodeled a 1947 house with this saw. I gutted several rooms and finished a basement. I put a deck on the back of the house and cut pile of pressure-treated lumber. I even used the saw to cut up the painted, near-pertified wood for scrap. After a lot of abuse the original blade is still sharp and the saw is working like it was new.

I sold that house and I'm onto a new house, but the Delta is coming with me. I'd really love a compound miter saw, I just can't justify replacing this one yet.

Miter Saws Review Glad I didn't spend more
If you're looking for a miter saw and don't want to spend several hundred $$ on one, you won't likely regret going with this one. I'm not sure about some of the earlier reviewers who felt it was underpowered - I have put mine through the paces and it has come out shining. For instance, it will cut through treated 4x4 posts with no hesitation.
Basically, I wanted a miter saw that would provide good miter cuts on moldings and cut 4x4's, and this one does both. I almost spent over twice as much on a 12" compound and now I'm glad I didn't. This 10" cuts 2x6's and 4x4's like I wanted and, after a little research, I discovered that the compound feature is rarely useful, and is actually only one more thing to worry about being aligned.
All in all, this has turned out to be a terrific tool, inexpensive or not.

Miter Saws Review Great saw for the price
I recently had my family room remodeled by a local contractor. When it came time to cut and fit moldings, door trim and the like, I noticed that the carpenter was using the Delta 36-070 for all miter cuts. I asked him what he thought of the saw and he answered, simply, that it performed well, is accurate, and is easy to lug from job to job at only 28 lbs. He admitted to having better miter saws, but when visiting 4 job sites in one day, this is the saw he uses.

When I happened across this saw at Home Depot for only $79.00 (US) I snatched it up. I agree with a previous reviewer...don't compare this saw with saws costing twice as much. It's not a valid comparison. I've used this saw considerably since I puchased it and have no complaints at all. As a home owner, I find this saw perfect for the weekend duties I ask of it and find it easy to move around and store away. Compound cuts? Of course not. Had I a need for that, I'd have bought a different saw. Then again, that would have cost me at least $160.00, be at least 45 lbs, and I might use the compound feature every few years or so....in which case my non-movable radial arm saw will fit the need.

Great saw for home owners at a great price. It has a good manual, comes with a carbide 40 tooth blade, and if you treat it well and keep it clean, you'll be giving it to one of your kids some day when 28 lbs feels like 56.
