Makita Saw Application
Unhappy at first but now I'm very pleased. If it wasn't for the fact that the laser was way out then I first got it, I would have given it 5 stars. But because of the work I put into it to make the product useful to me, I'm giving it 4.
Again, the unit is adjustable but it should NOT be attempted by those who feel uncomfortable working around small and delicate electronic assemblies.

same old storyThen there was the table top, the left wing is beveled on the wrong side (the back side), so now i have to decide between using amazon's great customer service or just taking it to a local machine shop. I think I wil opt for the latter.
Shipping was fine except the fence was a little beat up and has some corrosion on it, nothing that can't be fixed.
Smooth, plenty of power, and accurateSo, I bought the 36-717 (with the Biesemeyer fence) there, paying $950 plus sales tax; one of the guys at the store actually delivered it to my house in his personal truck--that was after he spent an hour helping me decide. I had planned on purchasing it from Amazon, because it usually offers the best price, no sales tax, and free shipping, but I see lately that it's playing games with the prices, and with the shipping charges. And the WoodCraft rep earned my business, no question.
The crate that contained the saw was undamaged, and the saw itself had suffered no damage whatsoever; it even came with plenty of extra bolts. The wings are a pain to align correctly, but they did line up okay. Everything was perfectly aligned; measuring with a T-square from the miter slot to the front and back of the blade showed a slight discrepancy, but it turned out that stock blade was a little warped, and I wasn't going to use it anyway.
Like someone else here, I decided on a hybrid because I have to rely on 115 volts--I rent a house in the San Francisco Bay Area, and buying is stupid right now. This (or the Jet) was the most powerful saw I could get.
I was still worried that it might not have enough power, especially with a dado set, but I've had zero problems. I bought a Freud 8-inch dial-a-dado set, and it works wonderfully, even when set to a pretty aggressive depth and going through oak and bubinga. I do wish the arbor were a bit longer--the outside nut on a fully stacked dado set could be easy to strip if you get it on there wrong. But the motor is quiet (for a power saw), and very smooth, especially compared to my old benchtop model. Dust collection with a Delta dust collector is awesome, thanks to the enclosed cabinet.
I bought an Incra miter gauge, which is fantastic; I never even unbagged the stock gauge. Oh, I also bought the Delta 50-941 mobile base, which works very well and fits the saw perfectly, except that it doesn't support the out-table included with this version. No problem; because I'm moving it often, I decided the legs on the out-table were just getting in the way, so I just removed them.
I'm not wild about the blade guard; lumber fits very tightly between the guard and the fence when ripping, and that's with it adjusted as far away as I can get it. It's probably because I'm most often using a (Freud) thin-kerf blade, but there has to be a better way to prevent kickback. Yes, I would just take the thing off, but everyone--*everyone* will eventually have something flying back at them, and I need my eyes.
Overall, I'm very happy with the saw. I'm more than satisfied with the quality of materials and construction. I keep thinking, this 400-pound animal cost half what my 3-pound laptop cost. I'll need to replace the laptop in a couple years; the saw will outlive me.

For good results buy something else
made in china
I would suggest a higher end modelThe main problem, besides the loose action of that caddy, is that the pump does not direct the water to the blade.
MK Diamond does have excellent customer service, they suggested the 770 EXP for larger (what I consider NORMAL tile). However I am going to buy the MK-100, which is MADE in USA not assembled. I will only use my MK-370 for baseboard cuts and mosaics.
MK is a good company, but they really need to focus more on explaining their products to the consumer. The instruction manual for the MK 370 is pathetic. And why no clamps for securing the tile?!?

Blade guard is poor design
Short Life Span
I've punished my saw severely but it's still holding up.I returned the first unit I bought because the round table rocked in the housing, but the replacment saw was nice and tight and keeps on doing everything I've asked of it.

Does not work with SuperSawI gave it one star because it looked like it might be a good piece of equipment- that is, if I could use it.
So, if you own the Supersaw with the sliding table- stay away!
Very Accurate jigIt is true that the scale cannot be used to precisely set the distance from the table saw blade, but I always make a practice cut first anyway before cutting my real work pieces, so this does not really bother me.
Set up only took about 15 minutes, and the miter slot bar is a very good fit into the slot in my tablesaw. Wish I had gotten this tool sooner.

Assembly is PAINFULHaven't used yet. Stand appears to be sturdy. But the trade off is the stand and the Bosch saw together will be heavy -- right at 120 pounds (75 lbs for saw + 44 lbs stand). Something to consider if ever have to pick up both pieces at once.
Amazon ordering and delivery time (standard)was exceptional.
Much more complicated and expensive than necessary

Good News -Bad News StoryThe bad news, however, is that the RAS motor ran maybe 30 seconds before it quit! Big disappointment here as you can understand.
More good news: Called the Delta customer service line and got to talk to a live human (with only a minimal delay while listening to elevator music). After maybe two conversations where they gave me things to try, it was determined that the best course of action was to take the motor to a local (about 20 miles away) authorized service center. Turns out that the switch was defective from the factory (contacts fell out). The service rep had the switch on hand and fixed it while I waited. Saw is running fine now.
Another positive: I contacted Amazon (via Email) and they were more than willing to send a truck to my house to pick it up for a return with full refund or replacement.
I'd rate the Amazon and Delta service as excellent ... but the quality control at Delta factory as poor.

A work horse for very little moneyI sold that house and I'm onto a new house, but the Delta is coming with me. I'd really love a compound miter saw, I just can't justify replacing this one yet.
Glad I didn't spend moreBasically, I wanted a miter saw that would provide good miter cuts on moldings and cut 4x4's, and this one does both. I almost spent over twice as much on a 12" compound and now I'm glad I didn't. This 10" cuts 2x6's and 4x4's like I wanted and, after a little research, I discovered that the compound feature is rarely useful, and is actually only one more thing to worry about being aligned.
All in all, this has turned out to be a terrific tool, inexpensive or not.
Great saw for the priceWhen I happened across this saw at Home Depot for only $79.00 (US) I snatched it up. I agree with a previous reviewer...don't compare this saw with saws costing twice as much. It's not a valid comparison. I've used this saw considerably since I puchased it and have no complaints at all. As a home owner, I find this saw perfect for the weekend duties I ask of it and find it easy to move around and store away. Compound cuts? Of course not. Had I a need for that, I'd have bought a different saw. Then again, that would have cost me at least $160.00, be at least 45 lbs, and I might use the compound feature every few years or so....in which case my non-movable radial arm saw will fit the need.
Great saw for home owners at a great price. It has a good manual, comes with a carbide 40 tooth blade, and if you treat it well and keep it clean, you'll be giving it to one of your kids some day when 28 lbs feels like 56.
