Power Saws Review Effective product
This cutter is an effective solution for small jobs and repairs. I would not recommend it for a job as large as an entire countertop or floor. You will still need a large wet saw for that type of job. Before you use it, if you're making dry cuts, be ready to experience some extremely high dust volume!

My first application was cutting several large granite tiles. These is a very hard material and this saw cut through it easily.

Power Saws Review very satisfied user
I purchased this tool to remove grout from between a large amount of floor tile. With a continious rim blade it went like a dream, fast but extremely dusty. Went on to cut red brick, adobe and flagstone, just like cutting wood. This saw has a high torque so be prepared when you turn it on. Also no blade guard so wait until it stops completely before setting it down. A mask and goggles are an absolute requirement in the dry mode because of the large amount of dust, haven't used it in the wet mode. Very easy and convienent to use, have recommended it to others.

Power Saws Review Fine machine with one flaw
Been using this saw for about a month now and I'm quite impressed. The enclosed stand is a major plus because of the dust collection ability and the fact that it just looks good (a must in my shop!). The belt drive 1 3/4 hp motor lacks the balls that I wish the saw had, but it gets the job done. The saw after assembly required minimal adjustments, unlike a Delta that seems to take days to align.

The sliding table is awesome except for one major design flaw, when extending the table to make cuts above approx. 12", any heavy materials like MDF actually make the table bend downward causing a "jumpy" slide movement and an in-accurate cut. So what I did is actually built a set of adjustable legs (like table board rip fence legs that come with any 52" rip fence) and drilled them into the thin steel under carriage of the sliding table. Using a thin washer head screw to allow the cast iron to glide over it. The results are perfect, been building cabinets cutting 24" panels of MDF effortlessly. I plan on contacting Jet about this so that maybe they can send me a set of their own steel legs that will match the ones that support the extension table.

I ordered the version with the 52" fence, that because of the sliding table actually gives you a 62" rip capacity! An unexpected bonus. Overall I love this saw, it does it all, but would like to see a miter track on the left side for using jigs and feather boards. But like most of us woodworkers, I can improvise. After using the saw for a month now, I'm not having any regrets about choosing this saw, even with the table alteration that I made. Jet has done a fine job, especially if your a small cabinet builder that requires a super accurate 28" crosscut.

Power Saws Review Great table saw including the sliding table
Well this is the 4th Jet product I've purchased. I already own the 6" jointer, the dust collector and ceiling mounted air filter. I have other Delta products such as my drill press and compound miter.

I was a bit nervous buying this saw without any reviews since it is new. However, since I own the other Jet products I felt confident that they wouldn't let me down and I was right!

This saw is big and heavy! Amazon got the product to my garage door within 5 days of placing the order, no tax and no shipping, they're the best! Came truck freight (Eagle in my area) and in several boxes (fence, body, sliding table, etc). There was zero damage to the unit since it is expertly packaged and lashed to a pallet. Total weight is 420 pounds, so get some help!

After my neighbor and I got it in the basement we loaded the main unit on a Jet Heavy Duty mobile base (see my other review of this product). The mobile base is a must since this unit can not be moved once built at 420 pounds. Plan on a full day to get the unit setup and assembled, including all adjustments.

The cast iron tables are super heavy and well made. I also got the Xacta fence and boy is that nice. The dust port is 4" and is well designed and works well with my dust collector. The blade guard is very intricate and I am still getting used to this, it even tilts when the blade does. The instructions were about 9 out of 10, but not bad overall. Make sure you don't jump around during setup since there is a specific order as I found out the hard way.

No blade is included, so make sure you buy one, I purchased a Freud 10" combo from Amazon and it works very well with this saw. I also purchase a Freud 8" dato set and a zero clearance insert which I should have soon.

I opted for the sliding table which adds about $100 to the cost. If you have a good miter saw, this may be overkill. I have grown to like this feature though. The actual miter can be fixed in several locations, then you use the built in clamp to hold it in place, and then just slide the table. The sliding mechanism is all roller bearings and is effortless to move.

I've had the saw for about a month now and really enjoy it. It's big and powerful, yet quite and makes superb cuts. The accuracy of the fence and miter are right on and can be adjusted very easily. With the blade guard down, this is almost a dust free saw, with or without a dust collector attached. The saw came pre-wired 110 which is how I'm using it. I was able to trip the built in circuit breaker by ripping a wet pressure treated 4x4, but how often are you going to do that?

I would highly recommend this to any homeowner and to all serious woodworkers.

Power Saws Review Nice product
I've used the jig saw on a number of small projects and I like it very much. The variable speed feature is quite useful. The price was also very good when compared to the cometition. I got a DEWALT DW317K jig saw when i bought my table saw and i think that i will sell the dewalt and keep the Makita.

Power Saws Review Hubby loves this jigsaw
Got this for my hubby for Christmas and he loves it.. It works great. Makita is a good brand. He has found no problems at all in using this jigsaw. It has good power and it has guards so the blade does not bend when cutting..
I think you will like it, I recommend this highly.

Power Saws Review Makita UC 3500 compared to older Makita chainsaw
This is the second Makita chainsaw I have owned ( the first I have had for 12 years). The uc 3500 has better balance and is ligher making it less tiring to use for long peroids of time. I use the saw mostly to cut firewood for my shop It has less torque than the older saw but is more than adquate for most job.

Power Saws Review Never going back to gas.
So much easier to use than gas powered saw. Less noise, no exhaust fumes, no pull cord, no choke, no trip to the gas station for fuel. For all the sawing you can do within range of an extension chord this saw is teriffic.

Power Saws Review read this.
I have milwaukee's 18v version for two years and then this saw for about 7 months, it is the best cordless circ saw on the market right now, for both power and endurance.

BUT: it is not a replacement for a corded saw as milwaukee advertises, it will do on 1 battery what the 18v's do on 2.
IT's fit and finish are very good and the tool is about the same weight as the 18v. this is a good buy.

Power Saws Review Nicely Balanced and Powerful. #1 Reason to check out Amazon Daily
This is an excellent outside job saw. The weight is perfectly balanced for me, allowing easy cutting in tight spaces or on the portable workbench. The stock blade is fine for general outdoor jobs. In the woodshop, it makes short work of 3/4" plywood.
This is the perfect example of why it's so important to check Amazon daily: At $263 including shipping (the saw, the charger and two batteries) plus a free mail-in tool body certificate (I selected the hammer drill) how can you go wrong? Two 28v LiOn Milwaukee tools w/ charger and 2 batteries for $263!?!?!? How can Home Depot compete with that?

Power Saws Review One of the best drill/recip. saw
Quick summary:
Drill:
Pro: Plenty of power,
long extended run time

Con: Heavier than other 18V professional Drills,
Direction switch too close to index finger,

Reciprocating Saw:
Pro: Quick blade change
Again, battery gives it long run time.
Con: Lacks the power of corded saw, as with other cordless tools.
The blade guard at times slips with vibration.

More details:
I got tired of cheap drills running out of charge driving long screws. So, time for a new dril. The modern cordless drills are "disposable", in that when the batteries die, its better to replace the drill, since the cost of replacing the batteries equal the the cost of whole combo set. Given that I decided to get the best drill/saw combo, I decided to get the best set with the best battery available. Milwaukee seems to have problem with their batteries, I have had problems with Home Depot home brand tools. The DeWalt units are OK but battery run time is limited. And the comfort of tool is to me less than Panasonic. I have not used Bosch, so can't compare run time against Bosch. Again, from the battery perspective, Panasonic has the best batteries. Panasonic have their own research and manaufacturing facilities for batteries.

However, if you want cordless jig saw, Panasonic does not have that option. So, if you must have the Jig saw, you must choose DeWalt or Bosch. Panasonic tools are limited to Drill/Circ. Saw/Recip. Saw.

I had chance to get Panasonic drill/saw combo with three batteries for the price of three Panasonic batteries. So, my purchase was made as "disposable" purchase with three batteries.

Very good tool overall,.... reason for not giving a 5 star is that there is no perfect tool.

Power Saws Review I got spoofed too. Felt somewhat let down by amazon
I also got the same price mistake cancellation email. Great product, bad service from amazon this time around. Still feeling bad.

Power Saws Review Good, Clean Cut Possible with Care & Patience
Purchased this Porter Cable (PC) Riptide 6" 40 tooth saw blade to replace the 18 tooth PC Riptide OEM blade that came with my PC cordless circular saw (14.4v). Although the OEM 18 tooth makes very capable, quick, rough cuts, the option to make good quality, splinter-free, finish cuts was also needed (i.e., when cut piece was too wieldy/large to single-handedly cut safely with a table saw).

The 40 tooth PC Riptide blade makes rough, hand cuts of S2S hardwoods and birch plywood satisfactorily. Some care must be taken to not rush the cut or the PC cordless saw will stall (much less of a concern with the 18 tooth OEM PC Riptid blade). Finish cuts with the PC Riptide 40 tooth can approach the quality of my 60 tooth, 10" Dewalt table saw blade if certain precautions are taken. Recommend (1) the use of a straight, well anchored edge guide, (2) taping off the wood surface that contacts the circular saw and blade to prevent finish scratches and tear-out, (3) a fully charged battery, and (4) a **slow**, steady cut.

Bottom line: The 40 tooth Porter Cable 6" Riptide blade is capable of near finish quality cuts if the proper precautions are taken when used with low powered, cordless circular saws.

Power Saws Review 6" Riptide Thin Nerf 40 tooth Blade
The Porter Cable 6" 40 tooth riptide blade cuts with minimal splintering and leaves a satin smooth edge. We use it for cutting Baltic Birch plywood, 1/4" thru 3/4", and have been very pleased with both the cutting results and durability.

Power Saws Review Good tool
High speed cutting, inexpencive battery replacement!
The safety that needs to be pushed at the same time the trigger is pushed is a pain but can be removed easly.

Power Saws Review Great for the money.
At under $60, this is a rock solid reciprocating saw, that works hard for you!

You can spend 2-5x as much, and get more bells and whistles, such as higher amperage motor, "better" name, orbital action, etc..For just light to moderate use around the house and outdoors, this, and a ~12 gauge extension cord,is all most will ever need.

I put it to the test in Florida after hurricane Wilma passed thru, and it has happily cut numerous downed up to 8" diameter tree limbs, trunks and aluminum debris, using the two supplied blades, and then other blades. I just put the "speed" yellow thumbscrew to the fastest speed, and away I went!

To really cut wood (without nails in it) get a Skil "The Ugly", 9" wood/pruning blade with the jagged long teeth that look like an alligator's, and it'll saw a lot faster than the "all purpose" or "wood" blade that comes with this, or often with other saw's kits.

There's no safety lock on this saw, or on it's competitors. The securely closing plastic case is convenient to store the saw and blades inside.

Power Saws Review Pretty good saw
Pretty good saw for its size. set up went quickly after I sent the first one back. Absolutely could not square the blade with table. I could square up the blade on the replacement saw, but just barely by really forcing the blade against the stops. Appears this model needs another 1/6" play in adjustment. Fence is a good one. If you replace the so/so blade that comes with it you need to shim the blace out on the arbor or it will rub. Even the one that comes with it has 0 clearence.

Power Saws Review A GOOD JOBSITE TABLE SAW
I have used this saw for three years now and have found it to be one of the best jobsite portable table saws on the market. What distinguishes this saw is its' fence. The rack and pinion adjustment makes it easy to dial in your measurement and keeps the fence perfectly parallel to the blade. As other reviewers have mentioned the miter gauge is pretty useless but I use a sliding compound miter saw for making mitered cuts so this is not a big deal for me. This is not a cabinet saw, it works fine ripping framing lumber and paint grade finish work.
My one bit of advice for anyone considering buying this saw is to not buy it online.I recieved this saw as a gift from my family and when it arrived at my house the box looked like a big yellow boulder. Every corner was smashed in and there were a few large tears in the box as well. When I unpacked the box and inspected the saw I realized that the rails that guide the telescoping fence were bent. Amazon customer service was very understanding and paid for the return postage. Amazon does nothing to prepare this saw for shipping. The box it comes in is not meant for individual shipping direct to consumers. There is no padding of any kind. This saw is meant to be shipped stacked with other saw boxes on a pallet and then shrink wrapped. This is how retailers receive shipments. I would advice everyone to not purchase large tools such as table saws, miter saws or compressors from mail order companies. You might have no problem and your items might arrive in perfect condition but there is a good chance what you receive will be damaged. Making matters worse is you will have to ship the item back and wait a long time to receive a replacement. Prices online are generally better than what you can get from local retailers but considering the hassles of dealing with problems I would rather pay a little more knowing I can get immediate satisfaction form my local tool retailer. Amazon is fine for buying small power tools that often come shipped in their own protective case but I would seriously recomend if you are buying any large heavy tools to make your purchase locally.

Power Saws Review Thanks DeWalt and Amazon.Com
Another Great tool from DeWalt and Amazon.com. Thanks, DeWalt for maintaining "Qualtiy" in your products and Thank you Amazon for presenting to us reasonable prices. Ordered several "Replacement Tools" (having lost all mine in Hurricane Katrina) and ALL of the DeWalt have the quality we've come to expect. It's a great feeling to be getting back into the shop with quality tools rebuilding furniture.(dresser drawers, tables, cabinets and night stands)Thanks to DeWalt and the quality they build into their tools, one's job is made easier to restore and rebuild. Great Saw!
