quick blade change feature.
Great sawI like the runtime of this tool, and I am amazed how much work gets done on one charge. Looking back,I can't understand how I got by without this saw. I really like the dual stroke feature which lets you switch between an agressive 1-1/4 stroke and a milder 3/4 in stroke. I have been having trouble with the stroke adjustment switch on my saw. It sometimes dosen't want to be switched. I found the switch feels spongy. The saw will be returned to Bosch for warrenty repair.
To be fair,I had used the Dewalt 18v Recip saw,and it worked about as well, but I didn't like the Dewalt's clikity clack sound.I am sure that there are plenty of other good 18V reip saws out there.
I only gave my Bosch 4 stars, because of the problem with the stroke adjustment switch, otherwise this star would have got 5 stars.
I find that this saw and a good chainsaw are an unbeatable tree cutting combination. The chainsaw brings the tree down and the reciprocating saw cuts the branches off the tree. A pole chainsaw is also nice.
Great Saw
- 20in. bar
- 3.9 HP
- 3.6 cubic inches
- 59cc
- Smart Start? for easy starting

Works SometimesThe engine seems fine and it's always started easily, but the chain bar and drive mechanism are problematic. I decided to replace the bar, chain, and sprocket all together, to try to get it back into service. I rounded up the new parts and opened up the saw to discover that special tools are required to change the drive sprocket. Why doesn't Husqvarna include these necessary tools with the saw?
Tomorrow is Sunday and the Husqvarna dealer is closed, and even if he weren't he'd probably have to order the tools and it would take a week. I'm going to try to make a 3-point spanner to remove the clutch, and I think if I stuff a rubber plug or a dowel into the spark plug hole I can use that as a makeshift piston stop. If I can't get the clutch off I'll dust off my old McCulloch and use it. The Mac cost about 1/5 what the Husqvarna did, but it's always worked even if it isn't as pretty and it weighs more. Too bad they quit making them.
Great saw
Tough saw.The layout and ergonomics are good. Picking the saw up, it is well balanced and comfortable. I like the suspension on both the control handle and wrap around handle. The wrap around handle allows for many cutting angles and positions.
The 359 starts reliably. The decompression valve helps with this. Under the extremely heavy use of the outdoor program, these saws were sometimes running all day for days on end and I rarely had any mechanical problems. Overheating was never an issue. Even though the engine sometimes was incredibly hot, it ran smoothly and continuously.
Power is ample for forestry and professional applications. After using a similar Stihl model (440), I discovered how I like the positive response of the Husky's clutch. The single cylinder engine has loads of torque. Even in the middle of some very large trees, this saw would not quit under load.
Unless this is simply more saw than you need for your application, I recommend it. For tree work professionals looking for a good felling and limbing saw, this fits the bill.

Too slow!
Yes, it's a specialty tool
A real contractor toolThis is a must-have tool for trimming.
It has a fine kerf blade that can make some clean cuts.
Over the last month, I've used it on:
- Laminate floor (don't even try using a power saw), and it made the finest, chip-free cuts for floor vents, around doorways, etc.
- Siding. Yes, normally I'd use the circular saw, but when you're 20' in the air (2nd floor), and need to just take 1/4" off the siding to quick-fit around a window, if a power saw grabs when you're plunging, it could throw your balance off, and that's a long way to fall. Sure, this saw will kick if you hit something plunging, but it won't throw you.
- Trim work. When I don't have the miter saw at the job site, and just need some quick clean cuts, this is the tool.
Sometimes you want control, light weight, and clean cuts, not chew-up-the-board speed. To compliment your toolset, this is a must have.

- Powerful 6.2 amp motor handles aggressive applications
- Orbital action with 4 adjustment levels for faster cutting
- 500-3,000 spm speed control, with 8 settings
- Quik-lok blade change system eliminates the need for tools
- All-metal gearcase and cast-aluminum shoe built to last

a very good tool with small problemsThere are three complaints.
It is made off shore. I know most people do not care where tools are made anymore, but I live, work and pay taxes in the USA. I care. I still feel the quality of American made tools is second to none. Including tools made here by foreign companies.
Second, I dislike how companies say "KIT" and only supply you with basic tools with the tool. I feel most consumers who buy high end tools expect a tool case with the tool. This does not constitute a kit. On a jig saw I feel the basic tool should come with case, a few blades, anti-splintering device. A kit would include all above plus Combination Rip and Circle Guide fence, dust pickup attachment, Plastic Shoe Cover, and hearing protection.
It is a barrel grip saw and the plastic barrel housing gets slippery when you use it for awhile. I think the engineers should of used a rubberized grip. This is all the rage now with tool manufacturers. This helps in many ways. It reduces operator fatique, improves comfort and anti-slip for safety. I would bet the engineers who designed this never used a jig saw before.
I still like the tool. It is a keeper.
A good jigsaw
Things to considerOn the plus side, I like how it fits in my hand, barrel grip saws just feel better to me than top grips. It's got plenty of power, and with the variable speed, you can dial in whatever you need. It cuts beautifully and leaves smooth edges, but that could also be that I only use Bosch blades.
While it is a bit heavy, I find this to be advantageous to staying online and reduce vibration. The plastic foot cover allows to to glide nicely as well.
On the minus side, there are a couple of safety concerns I'd like to mention. First and foremost, the switch to turn it on, while somewhat protected by the upper knob, pushes in for ON and pulls out for OFF. This occurs to me as easy to accidentally bump on and a little trickier to turn off quickly if needed. I'm a bit surprised that is configured this way as every other tool I've seen is designed to turn off if bumped, not on.
Second is in regards to the quick change blade system. While certainly a super idea and WAAAY faster than any other jigsaw I've used, I've noticed that after only being used a few times, the blade retaining sleeve, which should rotate back 90 degrees to completely lock the blade in, only rotates back about 20 degrees barely doing the job. As I previously mentioned, I use Bosch blades which are a bit thicker than the Milwaukee ones, but even with those it only closes about 40 degrees now. I've blown it out with compressed air in case there was sawdust in there, but that had no effect.
Against my better judgement(needed to finish the project that day), I've used it in this condition and haven't had any problems though I plan on contacting Milwaukee about this.
The last thing on the minus side is that the bevel adjuster lever is really easy to bump loose and thus inadvertantly slanting the blade over. Alas, I know this from experience. Now that I'm aware that this can happen, I'll have to pay more attention to that setting.
All that being said, I really do like this saw. It's SOOOO much nicer than my DeWalt cordless jigsaw. Once the blade retention sleeve issue is worked out I'll feel fully confident and won't have any worries, but I'll always keep an eye on the ON switch and bevel adjust lever from now on!

Dead on arrival....
Best on the market
Good and Simple!!!What I really like about this saw is the effective blade retraction system. The clear lower guard retracts into the upper blade guard assembly away from snagging your thumb or sleeves as the guard moves upwards. O.K., maybe it's just the way I'm holding the handle with my big hands but I have gotten the pointy joint on my thumb slammed on the retracting path of the DeWalt and Makita guards...Ouch!!! To me, there is insuffient space between the handle and retracting guard on those saws.
Along with the high sticker price, this saw should have came with a set of extentions with stopping block and hold down clamps. These accessories are quite pricey when purchased separately. I guess to enjoy fine dining you must order ala carte just as you would with this fine tuned machine!

Delta's Black SheepThe saw is manufactured in Taiwan - not in the USA (like the unisaws). According to Jason Carpenter of Delta (1-800-368-1487x3143) it was designed for the Canadian market and brought down to the states to compete with Jet. Not being a unisaw, there are a number of changes.
First, the throat plate is different and unique from *all* of the Delta table saws (cabinet/contractor). At present, you cannot purchase a zero clearance throat plate for it.
Second, the base dimensions are different. I purchased a mobile base with extension (50-289) and it does not fit. Delta has the square section (50-729) which you can order for $121.01. It is not yet listed on their web site or any other site I've seen. The extension (50-284) is an extra $113.30. I plan to modify the 50-289 to fit my needs.
In the spec sheet, the max dado width is 15/16". They don't mention that you need a special arbor to cut this dado with - and you can't leave the special arbor on as it will hit the underside of the table for deep angled cuts.
Another complaint I had was that the cast iron extension wings were not perfectly flat. I had the front and back flush, and had a lit in the middle of about two sheets of paper. In the end I was able to flex it mostly flat at the recommendation of the Delta service center.
What has been most frustrating is the customer support on this saw. I've called Delta several times and the person on other end usually says, "Wow, this saw is brand new. I've never heard of it. Let me see what the manual says." On the mobile base, I called specifically to ask if the 50-289 would work - and was told yes.
I plan to keep this saw as I believe it is worth the money and I don't want the hassle or added cost of shipping it back in excange for a true unisaw; I would however stongly recommend getting a unisaw instead of this one.
An Awesome SawI researched table saws for almost a year, before purchasing the Delta 36-732. I had a list of what I wanted in a saw and began to narrow the field. I actually went as far as to order a General International cabinet hybrid, but cancelled the order after realizing that it is impossible to get 2 hp from the amps they speced, at the time.
Amazon's sale price on the Delta made it an easy choice. I was a little concerned because I had never actually seen the 36-732 before it arrived at my house. I was (and am) impressed. This is everything that I wanted, and would expect from a high-end saw, but at a low-end price.
Fit and finish is outstanding. Quality exceeded my expectaitons. Easy to assemble. Quite and imperceptible vibration (it passed the dime test). Exceptional power. The Biesemeyer fence is unbelievable
Cons: I had to flex both wings to get them flat. With a 2hp dust collector attached to the saw, the cabinet does not empty very well. I still need to vacuum out the cabinet to keep it clean.
Overall: This is one great saw. I would have given it 5 stars, but nothing is perfect.
Excellent saw with a few minor "bugs"Biesemeyer fence is excellent but had a few required washers missing (easily purchased at hardware store). You won't be disappointed with the use of it.
The blade guard requires wrench to remove\replace and one bolt 1" long to be removed completely. The supplied wrench is pretty much worthless for this purpose. I replaced both bolts with thread knobs, to hold it on and slotted the rear hole so guard slips on easily. Now I can remove and replace it with out wrenches.
The "shelf" for storage of fence won't hold Biesemeyer fence it keeps falling off. So find another place to keep it when not it use.
The crank handles and locks are plastic and seem light but function exactly as they should.
The miter gage is to light to be of real use, it seems to be made of stamped sheet metal or a thin wall casting. I removed the bar and trashed it. I had a better one anyway, but you should plan on replacing it with something better.
I have/had no problems the the main saw itself. Base, top and extention are good to excellent quality, with tilt and height adjustments working correctly.
Prior reviews talked about the extention table not being flat and the switch being not in the correct place. My table was flat and the switch comes with bracket to locate in correct spot " flush with front rail". So maybe Delta fixed these issues.
I am pleased with the saw "after about a month of use" and would recomend it to a friend, after pointing out these issues.

Buy a smaller sliding miter saw insteadI bought the reconditioned saw (no longer available at this time) and after a few weeks, mind has developed a bad crack in the cast aluminum base. I haven't fingiured out what I am going to do with that yet - presumably bring it to dewalt for repair. In any case, I would not buy this saw again.

Not Worth ItNot in my house
2 "Carbide rasp for aggressive material removal on wood"
No it doesn't
3. "Convex knife blade for cutting linoleum, carpet, rubber or cardboard.
Yes it does; however. a box knife is cheaper and quicker.
4. "E-Cut blade for under cutting door jamb or counter kicks to make room for new tile"
This blade works great in soft and hard woods. Make very precise cuts. A a minimum price of $200 - tool and kit- is this worth it?
Not to me. I will not buy again.
Well worth it if you're a regular user of the MultiMaster
