Power Saws Review Not up to the expectations for a delta machine.
I purchased this machine as a replacement for a delta 40-601 which I ran for thousands of hours over 20 years. Since delta no longer makes the 40-601, I opted for the 40-680.

The first thing I noticed was the reduction in the quality level of the stand. Second, the scroll saw required the operator to physically push the blade in order to get it started.

I finally had the opportunity to need the saw to run for a couple of hours today with the following results. The lower blade holder is out of alignment and will not hold a blade. It kept breaking blades and would not hold the blade resulting in about 20 broken blades in an hour. I will contact Delta in an effort to resolve the issue.

I would not recommend this scroll saw to anyone. I have had various Delta table saws, jointers, and planners. This will be the last piece of Delta equipment I ever buy.

Wow! Out of the box, set up in about an hour. Runs smoothly, quietly and cuts great. I am most happy that I spent the extra bucks on a quality piece of machinery.

Power Saws Review This Is One Great Scroll Saw
I have put my Delta 40-680 , 20" scroll saw to use with heavy stack sawing for over three years. It is loaded with great features and is built like a tank. The blade can be easily fed from the top or the bottom easier than any other saw that I know of. My saw has been totally trouble free and has not cost a nickel in repairs.
I highly recommend this saw to any serious scrollers.

Power Saws Review Good saw but there are some gotchas.
Gripes: 1. Fed Ex never called to let me know when the product would be delivered. They attempted delivery once (I was at work of course) and then wanted to charge me extra to attempt redelivery. Went and picked up saw myself. 2. Biesmeyer fence is not packaged well enough to survive shipping. I feel lucky that I just had some damage to the clamping tube's finish and tape measure at the end of the tube. 3. Front rail of fence will not mount high enough on the saw's cast iron table to allow the fence to slide smoothly across the table saw and clamping tube. Had to shim clamping tube up 1/16" with 1/4" washers. 4. Fence did not come with mounting bracket for saw's power switch. Had to fashion something out of a piece of angle iron I had laying around. 5. DOES NOT include base extension to support 52" fence. All you get is a mobile base for the contractor saw. This might work, but I didn't want my 52" fence which is only bolted to the saw's cast iron table with (4) 5/8" bolts to be unsupported when tipped up to move the saw around. Also, I don't think that the pivot point would be far enough to the right w/o the base extension. Adding the base extension moves the pivot point about 2 feet to the right instead of being right under the right-hand side of the saw's cast iron table. Bought base extension for another $100. 6. Does not come with table board. This is stated plainly in the ad BUT this fence will NOT work w/o a table board. Plan on buying one from Delta ($130) or building one yourself. Build one your self and laminate it with formica for about $100 is my recommendation. The delta board is melamine on particle board (yuck!) with hardwood rails and stiles. 7. Steel blade that comes with saw is a joke. Plan on dropping a C note on a quality blade. Recommend Forrest. 8. Great amount of backlash in height adjustment. Manual has instructions for adjusting this out. Haven't taken the time to do it yet though. Praise: 1. Saw was packaged very well. Absolutely no damage. 2. Saw is extremely quiet. 3. Instructions (for the most part) are clear and concise. 4. Mobile base is excellent (but you really need that base extension). 5. Miter gauge that comes with saw is large enough and heavy duty enough that it might actually be useful.

I'm sure that in the end this will turn out to be a great saw for me. Just a little aggravating in the beginning.

Power Saws Review A great saw but NOTE THE ASTERISKS!
Important:

1) That nice 52" table extension you see in the picture does not come with this saw...you have to order that extra (and you need it). See note under "Editorial Review" section at the end where it states "Table board not included." That's your only clue.

2) The "FREE mobile base*" leads you to an asterisk under Features that states "*Free mobile base for the contractors saw only; mobile base extension sold separately". Again, you HAVE to have the extension for everything to be level.

3) The blade that comes with this saw is not up to par with the quality of the rest of the saw. It's not even carbide-tipped. If you're paying this much for this saw, you might as well get the Forrest Woodworker II blade...the best money can buy.

With all this put together, you have an excellent saw. Keep that in mind. I also spent some money on an alignment tool set and a Powertwist Link Belt...but a table saw like this is going to be around your shop for DECADES. Don't skimp, or the rest of your projects will suffer.

Power Saws Review GOOD QUALITY
I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS SAW. IT HAS LOW VIBRATION AND GREAT WORK SUPPORT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE.

Power Saws Review items improperly shipped
Amazon shipped this item using ABF as the freight company. Either the table saw was not secured to the pallet or ABF removed the strapping, because the tip indicator had been activated. In addition, the box was crushed on one side and there was a 6 inch and an 8 inch hole in the box. A quick inspection also revealed the motor cover had been crushed and the styrofoam packing was laying in pieces. The drill press, shipped on the same order, had punched through the box and had indications that the shaft impacted with another item. The jointer also had punched through the box and styrofoam packing material.

All items were on pallets however, none of the items were strapped down to the pallet and no shrink wrap was used to secure the items to each other.

After a full day of deliveries by this truck, there were no signs of tie down straps, loose or otherwise, anywhere on the truck nor were the other two crates on the truck strapped down. Boxes listed as 'This Side Up' were laying on their sides. Boxes clearly labled 'Top Heavy' were not secured to pallets.

After seeing this level of shipping abuse, no further inspection was necessary as the entire shipment had to be refused.

Interesting enough, Amazon is glad to cancel the order and provide a refund however, I somewhat expected them to offer to resend the items using another carrier... which they did not.

Power Saws Review Great Saw
This is a great saw - I have been wanting one of these for at least 8 years. The unifence works perfectly and the saw runs very smooth. The shipping company was a bit rough with the saw (the tip-over indicator had been tripped) but with the decent job of packaging nothing was damaged. The fence package was broken open as well and the only problem was a missing part, but luckily I didn't need that part right away and a replacement part was received within a few weeks.

Power Saws Review Last saw you'll ever need
Size, power, flexibility, power, precision, power, power, power. I'm a casual woodworker. I'd like to think I'll someday get good enough to find some obscure feature this saw lacks. I doubt I ever will. My 2nd and final saw purchase. No regrets, not even the cost.

Power Saws Review DISSAPOINTED with Dewalt
I'm a tile contractor, so don't have a whole lot of use for a reciprocating saw. But, on the occasional remodel job it's invaluable. I own seven Dewalt power tools and am dissapointed with this one alone. The quick change blade feature seems to be a great idea, and time saver, but my saw has been in the shop twice because I couldn't get the blade out. Frustrating as can be in the middle of a job. Each time I was told told to clean the blade holding area (? ) frequently, but with out any obvious way to do that with out taking it apart. Occasionally beating on it helps, but... The telescoping foot has only two settings, neither seems to be right and the darn thing falls out. It also tends to rub the side of the blade if your doing anything but cutting easy material in a ideal setting, but...how often do you use reciprocating saw in those conditions. I would have returned it, except I'd had it for 7 months before the problems appeared (only used once during that period). Try some other saw...rent first.

Power Saws Review When this saw dreams at night ,it's a super sawzall
Don't get me wrong. This is a good saw. It does the job. It cuts any thing you want. But compared to a Super sawzall It's quite slow. Compared to an orbital super sawzall It's painfully slow. Plus it vibrates a whole lot more. Why settle for a good tool when you can have the best for about the same price ? I don't get it. Don't take my word for it read the reviews in the trade magazines. This one was rated lower than most other brands, even with the cheaper and lighter Dewalt for cutting speed. It was rated even worse for vibration even though they claim it's counter balanced. I'm sure glad they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.

Power Saws Review Another workhorse from Dewalt,
For the past seven months, my crew has been building a factory; from the physical building to the process equipment installation. We have used the Dewalt to cut everything from stainless steel skin metal to pipe, angle iron, plywood, and framing lumber. This workhorse has not only done the job, but the Sawzalls stay in their case(unless someone already is using the Dewalt). I recently read the review of a tile contractor, and am somewhat amazed by his comments. An occaisional cleaning with an air hose (or even a shot of WD-40) keeps the blade clamp like new. Our saw is barely recognizable as a Dewalt now, but is still on the job every day. The quick change blade feature is a time (money) saver, and it's got power to spare! Keep up the good work Dewalt.

Power Saws Review Used Goods
Unbelievable!! I open the Amazon box and the box is all torn up. I pulled out the plastic container and I thought I was dreaming but the fluid was ~25% gone, no seal under the cap and build-up around the cap screw lines...IT WAS USED!

Power Saws Review Great stuff for safely cleaning blade
I had been cutting a fair amount of douglas fir and white pine and the blades on my table saw and bandsaw were getting kind of pitchy. I sprayed some BladeSaver on the blades and before my eyes the pitch and gunk dissolved. All without odors or toxic waste. Way better than kerosene or oven cleaner. Faster too.

My blades now sparkle like new and "seem" to cut better, although the cutting part is kind of subjective. However, it is logical that cleaner blades would cut better. I'm guessing that this bottle will last about 10 cleanings, maybe more.

Highly recommended.

Power Saws Review Quick Clean Saws
I used bladesaver to clean my saw blades that I have been using on my skill, Table and compound miter saws. This stuff lifted and seemed to melt the black burned on build up from the saw body and teeth, it worked just like the package showed. A freind of mine uses oven cleaner to clean his saws, I showed him my saws and let him try some of the bladesaver on his saw he was amazed at how fast it worked with out the nasty smell of oven cleaner. I am very impress with how little it took to do such a great job. The large 16oz bottle should last me a while. If you want to clean your saw quick and easy! I recommend you use this product!

Power Saws Review Last Grizzly product
I own many power tools, most purchased through Amazon. This was my first Grizzly product and will be my last. I was amazed that there were no instructions for assembly, only a blown up picture of the product that did not show all the components. They ought to have someone who reads and writes English write and review their operator's manual. If you buy this tool you will really be on your own. Also, two of the bolts for the vise adjustment were installed so tightly that they were stripped. The factory blade is junk and the handle to move it around is a joke. I own Delta, Jet, Dewalt, Porter Cable, Craftsman, Ryobi, Makita and other tools but was really disappointed in this brand. No more for me.

Power Saws Review Best value for the cost
I bought this bandsaw because of the first review and the low cost. I figured that it may not be built as sturdy as some others, but it was what I could afford. As for that, it probably isn't as sturdy as the $600+ metal cutting band saws, but I doubt that there is a band saw for near this price that is as sturdy and well built as this one. This band saw makes accurate cuts, it doesn't seem to have issues even with hardened carbon steel. Probably it's biggest upside is that it is extremely quite (I live in a town home, so this is definetely a huge plus). As for the issues the second review listed about directions; this saw had directions that were just fine (unless you're not really handy). All in all I agree whole heartedly with the first review here...this is a great tool, and definetely priced below it's value. My recommendation: if you are looking for a good band saw at a low price (or even if you aren't), buy this one, it is a wonderful, well built, quite tool.

Power Saws Review Great addition to my shop
I have had this bandsaw four months, and had no idea I would use it so much. Have cut mainly angle iron. Cuts are precise, and very little noise. Unlike a cut off saw. Clamp material to be cut in saw, turn on, walk away and do whatever. Machine will turn itself off when cut is complete. Only negative--the blade that comes with it is worthless. It is only good for set up of the saw. I bought blades at Home Depot, (Rigid Brand, $10). Have cut material for 6'by 10' trailer and many other projects and still using the first blade I purchased @ HD. I think a bargain for $200.

Power Saws Review Hitachi C10FCE
I purchased this saw at a local home center and being a trim carpenter, it looked like a nice light saw for small mouldings. After using it for a short time the base started to bind up, so I took it apart and cleaned it out . It had collected alot of saw dust and crud in a short time. I reassembled the saw and it work fine for a few more times. I just went to use this saw the other day and noticed the space/bearing had came out the bottom of the saw, now it has to much play to make a good accurate cut. I belive you get what you pay for and I got a $130.00 saw.

Power Saws Review Needs more work
I bought this saw at my local tool box. I was looking at the Dewalt 703 and Hitachi and I was trying to decide which one to purchase for some remodeling and general work. The first thing that drew me to the Hitachi was the price. The Hitachi was 40 dollars cheaper than the DeWalt,
the Hitachi also included a clamp, the Dewalt did not, and finally the recomendation from the salesman did it for me. I took it home and immediatly took it out the box. The first thing I noticed was it was made in China. I had already been burned on tools made in China so I started having my doubts about this saw. I plugged it in and tried it out. The saw cut the 2 x 4 with ease. It seemed to have sufficient power for the task. As I put it through it pace, the trigger started going bad on it. Every time I pressed the trigger the saw would either start or would not. I checked the power cord and everything looked good. I also started noticing the fit and finish of the saw, especially the base of the saw, and noticed the miter guage was starting to lift up on one side. On the DeWalt the gauge is screwed on to the base. The Hitachi seemed like it was glued on to the base. The clamp also looked cheap with cheap hard plastic knobs that
if you tighten to hard you could probably snap them of. I decided to return the saw back to my local tool box and get the more expensive Dewalt. The Hitachi is a good saw with sufficient power for the task but the I've learned that you get what you paid for. I wish Hitachi would pay more attention to the little details on the saw. A better miter gauge and more thought into the clamping system of the saw. Overall its a good saw but still needs some work.

Power Saws Review Satisfied user
The saw is accurate and easy to use. No problems getting it up and running. All the stops are dead on, no adjustment was required. My only regret is that the saw is made in China, even Japan is outsourcing!

Power Saws Review Makita 10 inch saw
This saw does not stay square on the 90 positive stop. On the 45 positive stops, ones on 45 the other on 46. There is too much play on the saw when you are making a cut. Also, the guard sticks about 75% of the time, sometimes open and somtimes closed. Finally, I would never buy a Makita miter saw again, and go with a better brand.

Power Saws Review Dust Bag useless
The Dust bag comes out to low if they reworked that I would rate it 5 stars

Power Saws Review Makita LS 1440 saw
My company purchased this saw about a year ago. It does not cut square, and has a handle that is very uncomfortable to use. When making a verticle cut through 4" material the cut is 1/32" out from top to bottom.

I have been using this product since last two and half year. We have got the details from one of Al.Supplier who is using this product.

The product is very good functionally and showing the very good performance in the industrial environment. We are using product almost ten hours per day .

I am based in India . We are requiring more outlets who can support us more effectively .

Power Saws Review Top Breed Big-dog Saw is always Hungry!!
A very accurate, durable and simple design has never let me down. I worked in a truss shop for two years building trusses by hand in SW Missouri and spent many hours at the controls of my 1440. We had three LS1440 stations set up, one backup, and a radial arm saw. Our saws took the hardest abuse day in and day out. Doing floor trusses one time I made +3,000 cuts with my 1440 in a 9 hour day! Maintenance is a piece of cake, changing the brushes and after the abuse we put them through occasionally changing the return spring, in addition to a WD-40 bath over the weekends. Custom beveled carbide tipped heavy-duty blades helped also. A sound investment brand new because I bet you won't be able to find any used for sale, people just don't get rid of what is a proven racehorse in my opinion. P.S.- By the way, we used only #1 yellow pine for all components of all truss designs. And if you don't believe me just look me up!

Power Saws Review Rugged Industrial Quality
This heat gun is ultra fast-to-heat-up and stays put at your set temperature because of its high-tech thermo-reactive properties. It has an ultra-accurate, cool-looking, bright green temperature LCD display on a black background, which makes it visible in the dark. It is located in the ergonomically correct location (on top). Three different air-flow settings allow for ultimate control and air pressure/heat ratio exertion.

The intuitively-designed shape includes separate temperature control (by 10 degree increments) and fan speed control buttons. Unlike most variable guns, the integrated stand allows for a fully erect stance--when needed--with optimally located trigger controls located side-by-side on the handle.

The double-insulated, ceramic-encapsulated heating element is safe and efficient. If you vaporize herbal substances such as tobacco using a heat gun, you want a ceramic core so that it doesn't give off toxins. Moreover, this product has a stunning five-year warranty, partially because ceramic heating elements last longer.

I highly recommend this item to everybody ranging from heat gun novices to legendary heat gun users. It has great controls, a sturdy feel, and a long warranty to back its obvious integrity. Enjoy the control of a professional product with luxury features. A lot of thought went into the multi-faceted, ergonomic design and I am a proud owner.

Power Saws Review A Very good product
This heat gun is all a heat gun should be. Its reliable, provides even controlable heat for many applications. The gun provides three different air flow settings along with an infinitly variable temperature selector. The digital readout is a very nice plus which first indicates the set target temperature and then shows the increments until it hits the target. This kind of control opens up the amount of uses to more temperature sensitive applications. If you must have the best this is it; though i wish it had a case! As mentioned below it took a few weeks to ship because this product is not normally stocked. The previous reviewer should of figured this out...
