Power Tools Review Excelent easy to use tool - Recommended.
I bought the T-50 50" Double Grip Bench Clamp with T-track for a large acrylic project. Cell cast acrylic sheets, 1/2 and 3/8" thickness, were cut with the T-50 as a guide for my circular saw. The T-50 is light for its size, is easy to allign and clamps well - lots of force and without losing my allignment. It held the acrylic well while the cuts were made - even 48" cuts while clamped on smooth acrylic edges. I was able to hold very close tolerances on all cuts, exceeding my expectations.

I have also used the T-50 on additional projects - including particle wood and plywood - usually as a router or saw guide. It has performed well on all occasions.

Power Tools Review Really Straight Cuts from a Circular Saw, Quickly
I can not begin to describe how well this clamping tool guide works. It is easily adjustable to clamp on any width work piece within 50" or less. The 50" length is great for cross ripping sheet goods (4' wide). The guide has three levels of clamping force but the first level is enough to secure the guide so that it will not move during ripping.

This guide absolutely does not bow to the side as you rip. You can press the base plate of your circular saw tight against the side of this guide and rip away. For the first time I can rip a full 8' sheet of plywood and the cut is consistent width the full length. This is virtually impossible to do with cheaper guides like the thin-gauge, two-piece one from Johnson.

This guide has two t-slot tracks as well so you can design jigs and stops to attach to the guide. I purchased the optional 9"x12" HDPE saw plate for circular saws that runs in the T-track of the guide but I haven't used it yet. I don't know if I will ever have the need to. If the guide doesn't bow sideways, and believe me, this one doesn't, you can get a straight cut without the need of linking your circular saw to the guide with the optional plate.

The guide has slots that allow you to insert optional ruled scales (SAE or metric). However, I have purchased these and they are no good. The measuring scale is made of thin plastic laminated on paper and is off by 1/8" within 48". See my review for the "All in One Clamp I-50 50" Scale (English)" product. This applies to all the E. Emerson all in one measurement scales that I have purchased. However, the extra wide surface between the T-slots on the Ultra Wide clamp leaves plenty of room to add a quality adhesive backed measurement tape such as those sold for table saw rip fence rails. I plan to purchase one of those to enhance my Ultra Wide.

This clamping tool guide is well worth the price and I'm glad I finally made myself try it. Do yourself a favor, through that cheap two-piece tool guide away, or that not quite straight piece of scrap lumber and buy one of these. You'll be glad you did when you start getting really straight cuts from your circular saw.

I also have the 99.5" Ultra Wide, the 50" standard width and the 36" standard width. See my reviews for those too.

Power Tools Review Absolutely the FINEST shopvac available . . .
I've been using one of these for 3 years (originally WAP) and can confidently assure you it's the very best, but as usual you have to pay a premium for the above average quality. After getting rid of my 4.0 HP Genie (which sounded like a jet taking off, and never filtered well) I got this one, and to this day it's still the single best, most used tool I've ever purchased. Very clean, super QUIET and very powerful. It uses internal bags (which...hold A LOT) so it filters very well, even fine wood or plaster sanding dust, and is very easy to clean up and empty. If you've got the extra cash laying around, and need a quality shopvac, get this one. You will NOT be disappointed.

Power Tools Review By far the best
I picked up the 18 watt version of this this iron at a swap around ten years ago, and since then it's been the first iron I grab for anything short of soldering tinplate. Based on my experience with that iron, I just ordered the 15 watt version, along with a 1/16 inch tip, to handle smaller work.

The Antex irons are better and easier to use than just about anything else you might try, and that's because they're very different from the typical iron most of us learned on in a number of significant ways.

First, they use a slide-on tip. Slips on, slips off, requires no tightening or adjustment ever. Second, because they heat the tip from the inside, not via a clamp or screw connection, they're much more efficient than the usual iron- they say an 18watt iron is the equivalent of the typical 30 watt iron, and if anything, that's an underestimate.

Third, they heat super fast- usually in 45 seconds or less. You don't need to leave you iron plugged in all afternoon and worry about it burning up while you're busy working on some other aspect of a project. I keep mine plugged into a switched power strip. When I'm ready to solder, I switch it on, and when I'm finshed I switch it off.

And last, they're incredibly light. This is truely a featherweight tool. If you're doing any sort of electronics work at all, I'd strongly recommend an Antex iron. In 40 yers of electronics work I haven't found anything better.

Power Tools Review Probably a good item but a bad price!!
Not necessarily a review of the product because I ordered it for a Christmas gift for my husband but I am terribly disappointed in the price. I just found the exact item from another on line store $34.00 cheaper. Quite a difference. My mistake. I just assumed getting through Amazon would be the cheapest.

Power Tools Review A must for loosening blade tension
Your supposed to loosen the tension on your bandsaw blades when you're done using the machine for the day. Keeps the spring and tires from deforming etc.

The small hand knob that most 14" saws use is a total joke. If you don't use the saw much you'll curse less but it gets very tiring cranking with that little wheel.

You have a few commercial options. Get a saw with a Carter style if not a Carter made (in the case of Powermatic) quick blade release.

The new Jet, for $50 more than the base 14" saw comes with a quick release. Great deal if you're looking at Jet. The Powermatic as well as the higher-end Delta also use the quick blade release.

For $150 you can buy a Carter quick-release.

For $32 you can get this simple crank if you already have a saw with the silly wheel.
It is very, very simple to install. Just unsrcew the old one and screw this one back in it's place.

I don't use the saw enough where I feel the need to spend $150 for a quick release. This is a very good compromise. It's much more pleasant tensioning and detensioning my blades.

For what comes in the package $32 seems a bit much, maybe $25 would feel more reasonable but then it's not $150 and I bought it once.

I'm completely satisfied with his product. I think bandsaws at minimum should have this. I can't see where it would not be a cost effective addition. It simply makes the saw feel more complete.

Power Tools Review Best screwdriver ever!
This is a great power screwdriver! I like that it's lighter-weight, but it still works well. I have tried other brands in the past that are supposed to be better for women, but they don't work as well as this one - it really has power, unlike the others. As a home-owner, I know that this tool is a must have for getting the job done!

Power Tools Review a lot cheaper than a table saw ... and just as good
I am a very novice wood worker. I have some beginner books about "2x4 furniture" I have a circular saw, but, as you know, unless you are very experienced, executing cross cuts on lumber is not just a matter of chopping -- you have to measure, and add for the blade offset -- every time!. It was tedious, and i was close to getting a table saw or a miter saw. Fortunately, I came across this clever too -- simply line up the guide on the line where you want to cut, push the saw, and you are done.

Thumb's up!
