I have been using the 18v dewalt hammer drill since it came out on the market, and even though this is my 3rd one, will continue to use them. It got daily use on the jobsite until I bought this combo...

The impact driver is fantastic!! Will drive a 4 1/2" deck screw through 2 2x4's and then bury the head, no problem. The drill now sits in the bag more days than not, and only gets used for it's intended purpose, drilling.

This kit ought to extend the life of both tools, as I use them anyway, and for about the same price as it would have cost me to buy just the drill.

I recently acquired this at a national chain store. (I hadn't seen it on Amazon at that time, and I needed it *now* - but it would have been a better buy on Amazon if I could have spared a couple of days.)

The DC988KA hammer drill is great, and I've reviewed that separately. Great torque - it feels like it has more than either of my two aging corded drills! Take some time to practice with it if this is your first cordless drill. I found it had enough power to strip Phillips heads until I learned how to regulate it better.

The temptation with the hammer drill is to use it for *everything*, but there are some jobs for which the impact driver will just be a better choice. I haven't tried taking off auto wheels with it yet, but it looks like it will handle it.

This kit includes a contractor bag which is fairly roomy, with six open outside compartments and an inner elastic one. I was initially disappointed, since I prefer metal cases, but this has turned out to be very useful to collect all the other junk one takes along, as well as the two tools and batteries. The outside compartments work well for little things like locks and a cell phone. It's fairly sturdy.

Overall, recommended. If you are going to buy just a cordless drill and work it hard enough to justify an 18 volt unit, this is a good buy. If you have the money, a four-piece kit may be a better choice, but it will be about twice the price of this deal, and you may have to hunt for one with an impact driver. So far this has been a good choice for me.

I have the older version of this drill, the DW989, which has the same specs, just a slightly different visual appearance.
I havent found anything this drill cant do. Its speed and torque blows away any other cordless (and most corded) drills I have ever used. It spins so fast in 3rd gear that it will twist sideways in your hand from the torque (with no load). The torque is great. I used this drill to do security system installs, where I was drilling through numerous 2x4's and door headers with 6ft bits, drilling through brick, concrete blocks, into garage floors, etc. all with no problems. I have used this drill to drive 7/16" 2" long lag bolts into solid wood for satellite dishes with no predrilling. This drill will do it all. The variable speed is great. It lets you easily set your speed high for drilling, then low for driving screws, all with a push of a switch. The drill has several torque settings for screw setting (so you dont over tighten, which is easily done with this drill.)
All in all, you cant go wrong with this thing. I have had mine for over 4 years now, both the batteries are still working great, and the drill hasnt had any problems giving full performance every single time.

I saw the Dewalt 6 tool combo pak at home depot selling for $625 ... I researched Dewalt tools on Amazon and came across this 9 tool combo kit selling for $685 les a promotional discount of 10% bringing my total down to $616. Amazon shipped it for free, which shipped out of Dallas where I live ... got the next day ...

I came back to write this review and the price is now $900. What can I say, timing is everything ....

The tools are awesome ... great quality (except jigsaw) and rugged. The hammer drill drives 3.5 inch screws into 4x4 like a hot knife through butter. I'm building a fence with metal fence supports and the impact driver is invaluable working with the metal ties.

The jigsaw is a little disappointing ... the release lever broke the first time I tried to change the blade ... saw is in the shop ...

I ordered this combo kit for my husband. Absolutely the best! Our remodeling projects are underway and this combo is definitely helpful along with other recently purchased Dewalt tools! Thank You to Dewalt and Amazon for quality and dependability. Very Pleased!

I had this for about 2 years now and it saved me a few times. It still started fine (to my amazement with the stale gas) after I left the gas in it for one season. I attribute the fine quality to the Honda engine.

I chose these after purchasing a similar pair of safety glasses at Home Depot, that were near impossible to see outve indoors (unless you had intense light). These are just shaded perfectly to cut down direct light (sun or artificial) to a comfortable point, an easy to wear indoors. I may just buy more.

I had just installed a brand new kitchen sink; what can I say? I could not have done it so fast without this kit.

To remove the old sink, if I were doing it the old way, I would have used a chisel and a hammer and manuallly chip the cement away. With this kit, all I need was insert an SDS 1.5 inch wide chisel and dadada... it broke the cement around the tiles like breaking crackers, and all I need was exsert a little body weight to press it again the surface! I was able to remove the cement over the sink, and lift the sink in 30 minutes.

90 percent of my tools are cordless, and I only use 2 brands: Dewalt and Milwaukee. Dewalt's battery seems to last longer on a single charge, and retain power longer when not in use. Take this kit's battery for instance, it kept going without any sign of losing power through out the time I was using it, yet the battery was last charged over a week ago.

I have never owned or operated a corded SDS hammer drill before, but for the power it is putting out, it should be very similar to the corded ones. I bought it for the chiseling function, and it is really working great for me. A powerful time-saver!

I've had this combo set for 3 weeks it's done everything I've ask it to do.there both excellent tools.I would'nt want to use the drill for reguler stuff , but when you need a heavy duty drill this is the baby.the sawsall is just amazing,it's faster then my sawsalls that i have to plug in 'but bring plenty of battery's this bad boy run's out before the fun really get's started. my only concern is the blade clamp on the sawsall is plastic,but we'll have to see. The price on this site is great.

dewalt is one of the best tools on the market but i can beat your prices easy because my friend owns is own business and i help him get best buy for is money, because with the rising cost of insurance just to stay in business plus with 4 work vechicles, bond insurance libility umbrella ins. fuel cost tool cost payroll etc....

After I bought my DeWalt 24-volt 6-1/2" circular saw I decided I also needed a AC power source. So I bought the DeWalt DW0247 24 Volt AC/DC Converter. I didn't make a wrong choice with this. The converter supplies the same power as the 24-volt battery but keeps on going. It has a built in fan to keep it cool. I liked how it was the same size as the battery but weighed a lot less. So if you have the saw you have to have the converter.
