I should have gotten the Jessm Mast-R-Lift years agoI finally decided to stop messing around with half-measures and got the Mast-R-Lift and a Porter Cable 7815 to go with it. Together, they're like having a Bridgeport Mill for wood. The ability to change bits and adjust the bit height from the top is almost worth the price by itself. I often avoided using my previous table even when it was the obvious best solution, simply because it was such a PITA to change bits and make height adjustments from below. I now use the router table for as much as possible because it's so easy to set up. However, the precision and control afforded by the beefy-but-elegant construction is the real story. The crank mechanism of the lift has very fine adjustment capability with no noticeable backlash. My only tiny quibble is that it would be nice to be able to zero the depth indicator disc at a given point.
I highly recommend the template for making the cut-out in your table. It produced a very nice tight fit for the lift, much better than the fit I was able to produce for my previous router plate without a template. The cost of the template is much less than the cost of a new table top if you make a mistake that you don't want to have to look at every time you use the table.

A superior drill pressI looked long and hard before shelling out the $$$ for this drill press. I even spent about 2 months searching for a used one with similar features. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that there was no way to duplicate it's features.
It is an industrial machine that I will use for both wood and metal, yet it operates off 230 volt single phase, thanks to a variable frequency drive.
The speeds are variable over a wide range thanks to the variable frequency drive, and it retains full torque throughout those speeds.
Switching between the two speed ranges is by a gearshift lever on the side of the head. The gear mechanism is bathed in oil so it shifts ranges and runs smoothly and quietly.
The production table is really unique. It rotates, when the table is unlocked, on a 5" bearing. You just won't believe it how smoothly. And by the way. both the table lock and table raise/lower are accessible from the front of the machine which is a REAL plus for me. Now I don't have to crawl around the back of the drill press and bang my head on my shaper to get to it.
That production table can support over 200#, and even when fully loaded it moves up and down smoothly and easily. That ability allows me to place a 100#, 16" by 8" XY table ( a new piece available from Grizzly) on it along with a heavy 8" vise and still have plenty of load capacity left to handle heavy workpieces. On my old machine I had to lift on the table while cranking and really struggle to move it up, even unloaded. Now it is just one hand on the crank, even with 160# of XY table and vise loaded on the table. This table is perhaps the best feature of the machine.
When combined with the finest Milwaukee cobalt drill bits and a top quality Jacobs chuck with integral 3MT shaft, the runout is exceptional. I can drill through most woods at and angle with essentially no tearout on the exit hole, even without brad point bits.
The 6" spindle travel allows for easier setups and less fussing with table height.
I haven't had an opportunity to use the tapping feature, but I'm sure it will be just as smooth as everything else I've done with it.
I give Jet a lot of credit for designing a really nice machine, and getting it fabricated to very high quality from an asian manufacturer. I'm glad I purchased it, and would recommend it to anyone who needs a high quality drill press.
My ONLY issue was with the shipping crate which had been damaged on the bottom (the pallet) which didn't harm the machine but made it a bit difficult to pick off the truck with a forklift.

THIS MACHINE IMPROVED MY SEXLIFE...Finding a sexual partner can be very difficult for a South American indigenous immigrant in the United States like myself: Long and lonely nights with no consolation and deep despair. That until I found out about a revolutionary product that bangs as if it were a hybrid between David Hasselhoff and Arnold Schwarzenneger: MY VERY OWN VERTICAL MILLING MACHINE, or, as I prefer to call it in my intimacy: My JTM-2!.
All that I can say is that this product certainly enhance my sexual life, and has made me a beloving happy peruvian. It bangs me, no questions asked. Some friends recommended the older version (JTM), but I'd advise you to go for the JTM-2 if you are into the hardcore stuff as I am. Ciao, tanti baci!!!!!

Better Than BesseyI just received a set of 12" and 24" versions of these clamps. These are the best parallel clamps I have seen and are far superior to Besseys. I have not used them except in trials but measured them exactly at 90 degrees under pressure. Awesome.

Well designed sanderThis belt sander fully meets my needs. I'm into making segmented bowls, and use this machine to flatten the segments for final glueing. Assembly of the machine was easy, and the belt adjusts accurately. Using the belt in either horizonal or vertical position is a convenient feature. The sander comes with a sturdy steel open base, which wasn't mentioned in the Amazon write-up. I replaced the casters with with lockable wheels to make the sander mobile in my small shop.

Dust Eater I own this and the Delta triangle shaped unit. This one is far quieter and easier to change the filters on. On start up, the Delta blows more dust out than collects unless you take it apart and clean the filters which is obvious but.....this is a huge pain because on the Delta you have to unscrew the ends to change out the filter bags. On the Jet, you have a pre-filter that snaps out real easy on the side without the use of tools. (not shown in the picture) You can buy new ones, or blow it off and use it again.
I take mine to job sites where I need to cut inside for trim work. Great for MDF and it shows how well it works on the pre-filter at the end of the day. It makes room clean up that much easier.
I still wear a mask or respirator while cutting, but in 8 or 10 minutes I can take it off and install the cuts.
I have even taped a length of 10" flex air duct to it and dropped it out of a window to prevent the cyclone affect in the room.
Easier shape to pack, nice handle and real quiet on high speed. Simple and efficient. I may even buy another and sell my Delta!

A must have for the optional 3" spindleAt first impression you are tempted to buy the optional 3" spindle for the Jet Benchtop Osciallating Spindle Sander, and skip the table insert. If you are only doing larger pieces it is possible, but the insert is an important fill to the table top.
All of the spindle inserts are easy to change, since they are only a drop in device with a single nipple so they go in the same every time. Several inserts come with the unit to keep the work support right up to the edge of the spindle sanding sleeve. The 3" shouldn't be any different and that is why this insert is a good idea as well. Highly recommended.

DRTruly a good tape, durable , nice feel ,lock works everytime. The part that caught my eye was the belt clip, this is the closest thing to the perfect way to clip on a tape that I have seen. Eyes closed I can quick draw and REPLACE the tape. It is so handy, and no fuss to keep on my side.

Klein is the bestYou want a professional grade and American made tool? Look no further- Klein is what all serious Electricians use. Why? because they make the best. They last day in and day out for years. After a few years of daily use they'll start getting dull and it's time for a new pair, but you keep the old pair at home- I've still got my first pair from when I was an apprentice 17 years ago. You can't beat a Klein linesman plier for value.
I know a lot of guys that build their own router tables, and someday I might. But if you want to be up and running in a couple hours, this is the way to go.
