AwesomeYou may not need this item, but if you do, you won't be sorry for buying it! Since I bought my current house, my lawn has been in sad shape. Patchy grass, mostly weeds, dead thatch-filled spaces that rapidly fill in with dandelions. Trying to dig out weeds has been nearly impossible, because the ground is solid clay with a tons of rocks. The white grubs only make matters worse. 3 years of overseeding, weeding, fertilizing has gotten me nowhere.
This year I bought the aerater attachment for the Mantis (bundled with the dethatcher). This thing kicks butt! No problem slicing through the dead matted thatch, cutting deep grooves in the clay. It tosses up rocks that can easily be picked up. It slices up weed roots (and dices a few grubs too) as a bonus. The weeds pull very easily afterwards, and the overseeding I've done all seems to be sprouting as the seeds fell into the grooves.
The grass looks very ugly after you run this baby, but a couple of weeks later it's looking like a new lawn. It helps to run it after rain, or water a little first. The only downside I can see is that it's pretty small, so I probably can't do the whole 2 acres every year!

Maxi Loopper best investmentI have owned a Maxi Lopper for over 13 years. Owning these Loppers and living in Miami Florida has made life with Hurricanes so much easier. Maxi Lopper racheting profile makes cutting 2" branches easy for a small woman. There are never enough people to get debris cleared from your yard and owning the Maxi Lopper is by far the best tool to have.

Mcculloch Electric Chain Saw with Case 16" 15-Amp/4-HPWOW!!! This works as well as any gas chain saw without all the tugging on a rope. I have cut down three 12" trunked trees and trimmed large limbs off my live oaks. I am very satisfied. So much so I went back and got their electric polesaw too.

Best electric trimmer I know of, great priceThis is made by Ryobi, and the equivalent Ryobi unit costs like $20 or $30 more. I had an older Ryobi unit with a 5.5 amp motor, but this one is noticably more powerful. I burned up the motor in my old Ryobi because it wasn't powerful enough. I prefer electric tools when possible. Always starts, no gas or oil. But, most electric trimmers just aren't competitive to gas trimmers. Though of course there are still more powerful gas units, this unit is at least in the balpark of an average gas trimmer.
I did replace the head with the GrassGator Universal Bump & Feed. Though it says it is designed for gas trimmers, it fits this unit. I didn't even try the stock head. I hated the head on my old 5.5 amp Ryobi. So, I replaced it with the Grass Gator unit. So, when I bought this unit, I took a look at the head it came with, and wasn't too impressed. I suppose it is probably fine, but since I already had the Grass Gator unit, I went ahead and used it. This combination is the best trimmer I've ever used.

Good Deal?Just ordered this item, it's $5 less than the Ryobi 105R, has a more powerful motor (6.75 amp vs 4.7), it's built by Ryobi and has the same 2 year warranty. It uses the more common 0.080" line (the specs on Amazon are incorrect) but I'll see what happens when it comes time to find replacement parts for it. Maybe a great deal? Time will tell. I'll update at a later date.

Metabo KGS305Metabo has quite a good name in the industry for small hand tools (especially thier grinders) and have only recently designed and sell miter saws. I bought this saw from a local dealer as a replacement for my well used and abused Makita LS1013 (which was and is a very good saw). This saw is big (the footprint mounts are 21" x 22") and the overall width is 26" and depth at 45". It was purchased to be mounted into a miter saw table and not carried to job sites. Although it is very heavy duty and would probably travel fine, there is no top handles so it must be carried from the sides. This saw also does not include a laser - which was actually a selling point for me.
The packaging was in prefect shape and better than most tools I've purchased. The rear fence straightness was right on and the table flatness was comparable to the Makita. I purchased the optional vacuum hose kit which is actually a tee'd hose that plugs into the normal dust bag port and also into the back for the unique "below" table suction. This kit includes adapters for various shop vac hoses as well as a 4" dust collection hose. I'm currently using a 2 1/2" shop vac and the dust collection is better than the Makita but it still makes a mess.
Setup was easy and I tweeked both the miter and bevel zeros. Other angles were then right on. The included blade is an 80T carbide tiped blade which isn't bad - I like the Forrest chopmaster blade better though and will be ordering one. This saw allows you to preset a user-defined miter angle. The clear miter hairline marker is actually "3" hairlines to help you better tweek an angle. The power cord runs through one of the slide tubes and out the back - a nice touch. This is a belt driven saw with a soft start motor with brake - it's proved to be surprisingly smooth and quieter than I expected. The bevel angle locks are in front of the rear support and are a little easier to get at than the Makita (which are in the back). The board clamp not only adjusts vertical of course but also horizontally for narrow or wide stock. Metabo put all the user controls in Red (power, bevel, miter, head locks etc.) a simple but nice detail. Resetting a miter or bevel angle has a tight, precison feel. Even the fence slides have a precision feel to them.
To sum up - it is obvious the Metabo put a lot of thought into the details of this saw. This is a heavy tool with a precision feel. So far the accuracy is very good. It is not cheap but I found the price can vary significantly between dealers. Metabo is currently extending the normal 1-year warranty to 3-years when registering online.

Best small battery power tool everI love DIY and finally found the ultimate "helper". The Power Max has incredible torque (for a tool of its size) and is small enough to carry around with you even when working on a ladder.
No household should be without a Power Max - it's that simple.
As to the price - well, you kind of get what you pay for.

Metcal Solder System ReviewToo bad the rating scale tops out at 5 stars, this system rates higher! This is the system the Big Boys use. Check out workbenches at NASA or any major military or aerospace contractor and this is what you'll find. There are two switches-Power and handpiece select. Nothing else is required as the unit self-regulates the tip temperature to the perfect level to flow solder evenly for a perfect joint every time! Recovery time between joints is instantaneous, and there's never a worry of damage to sensitive printed circuitboards. This soldering iron defines idiot-proof (as long as you keep the tip out of your eye!) Simply the best.
