Fein is topsLet's face it, this paper isn't cheap. But it is very well made. The advantage to the Fein paper is that the backing is made so well, that you do not wind up with buggered edges, which wastes the backing pad. Result: Clean sanding, that maintains a crisp edge for getting into tight places. Isn't that what the sander is for? All grits work well. Highly recommended.

Love sanding sponges...I use a wide variety of sanding sponges in my box making endeavors(see other review's). These are the general workhorse of that arsenal. They come in a wide variety of grits....100-320...and have a lot of uses. I use them to polish the tops of my stationary power tools before applying the protective "wax". When sanding wood, they allow you to "feel" the surface of the wood better than with a hard block, yet are stiff enough to allow you to sand without "going over the edge". Very critical with mitered corners. You can sand shallow contours and edges, and they are perfect for finishing out contoured wooden hinges. The soft backing material reduces hand fatigue a lot, and you can cut them to smaller dimension's for those hard to reach spots.
You can find these standard type sanding sponges in 10 pks from several suppliers at a lower price than indicated here. Check out Harbor Freight and Klingspor's for a good variety. Keep em clean and they last a long time. Highly recommend.

Sanding Sponge, Detail Angle

Save your hands...These detail sanding sponges are ideal for cleaning up angles cut into jewelry box lids and base's. The soft sponge material really reduces the hand fatigue associated with long bouts of finish sanding. If you are like I am, and like to do all your finish sanding by hand these are the way to go. You can find them a little cheaper from companies like Harbor Freight and Klingspor's, but even at this price they are a good deal. They will last a long time if you keep them clean (I blow them off with air). Highly recommend.

My most used tool.I hate sanding just like you, but this sander makes it a lot easier. The orbital action is excellent allowing rapid stock removal while leaving the surface very smooth. The variable speed is great for delicate jobs or tight corners. The extra long cord is also a plus. The contour attachments work well (on or off the machine) but the sleeves are pretty spendy. If you look around on the web you may find them on sale from time to time. Stock up if you do. The only other concern worth mentioning is the diamond shaped sanding pad. The hook and loop paper sticks to it so well that you need to use care when removing the paper so as not to rip the pad from its base. Overall this is the tool I use most often in my wood shop and I really like the job it does.

JBA must have tool for remodeling. The Fein tool is easy to use and great for doing detailed work in tight spaces.
Fein Multimaster is an awesome toolI had been able to test market this product before purchasing one of my own and I am very impressed with this product. It is very accurate and easy to handle. Very lightweight and compact in size but packs a punch for the amount of tasks it can accomplish.
Specialty tool and worth every penny! This detail sander is worth its weight in gold! I have owned one for about 3 years. The construction is rugged and feels good in your hand. The weight is behind the sanding pad which has its advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage allows for a great deal of pressure control on the pad, which I prefer... the down side, if you try to use this tool for an extended period of time you will feel it in your wrist and forearm. The price may seem a bit on the steep side, but this sander can almost eliminate most hand sanding (all but final finish sanding) in corners; around the base of ballisters; and other 'odd' places. It is a shame this unit is so expensive making it one of those 'add-on' tools to your inventory after you have purchased everything else. If you do a lot of woodworking and cabinetry or custom construction and millwork, get one as soon as possible; you will wonder why you waited so long. This labor-saver is one that will spoil you very, very quickly.
I have both the standard size triangular sanding pad and the narrow 'finger' pad and these have been able to meet all my sanding needs. The standard triangular pad allows you to turn the sanding sheet to a 'fresh' sanding point, very handy. I use the 'hook and loop' sanding sheets and they perform much better than the peel and stick variety. I can not speak to the use of the flush cutting attachment (I have a Bosch 1640VS electric flush cutting saw), and have never had occassion to use the scraper attachment; if I have scraping to do it is usually pulling up tile floors and I use a heat gun and broad putty knife.
Note...This tool can be very aggressive. The first time I used it, I put too much pressure on one of the sanding points and in the blink of an eye wore off the point of the sanding sheet AND the rubber covered point of the sanding pad! So go easy on your first project and get a feel for the way this tool functions on some scrap wood and plywood samples. I didn't ruin the project but I did have to replace the sanding pad. Fein has most of the more common sanding grits available in both sheet profiles.

Second sanderI use this sander as a secondary in my shop. Changing out the attachments is time consumming.
Not a bad sander to have around.....I was looking for a small sander, so when I saw an add on TV for this Black & Decker unit with the dust accumilation it was interesting & checked out the reviews. So for the price took the plunge, it arrived the other day & tried it out. It doesn't pick up every piece of dust, but it does a darn good job. The collection cup does fill up fairly fast, so you have to keep an eye on it to see when it needs emptying, but that's no big deal if you pay attention. And the attachments are perfect for details such as corners or sligtly larger jobs. The velcro system of installing sanding pads is convient, haven't had to get new ones yet, so I don't know how much they cost. So the one downside of this sander it would have been nice to be able to adapt & use sandpaper sheets of one's own choosing. Overall I'm pleased with this item. It won't do the big job of a belt sander, but it doesn't pretend to be one.
The best little sander in the worldI do alot of furniture and cabinet refinishing and I think this is the best little sander in the world. It collects the dust as you go along and it has a pointed tip so you can reach any corner when sanding down furniture. It is light weight and very easy on the wrists. I don't need to wear a mask because the dust is contained. I love this little sander!!!!

Save your moneyThe Black & Decker mouse sander is a complete waste of money. A lot of "Flash & Thunder" but very little in the way of actual usefulness. It makes all the appropriate sounds and certainly feels like it's vibrating, but didn't perform very well at actually sanding someting.
If you want a sander to get in corners, give the Fein Multi-Master a shot. No, I have no connection to the Fein company in any way.

B&D Mouse Blowing Oil!I just bought the B&D Mouse sander for some detail work I am doing on walnut cases. I found after I started using it that it is blowing a fine mist of oil off of the bottom of the motor area - and staining the workpieces. I tried setting it in a small box and running it for about 45 minutes, only to find it still spraying out oil. Back to the store with this product. I'll buy higher quality instead.
Really good - exceptI've had my mouse for about a year. For the most part, it's had very light use. Recently, I started using it more and it's had moderate use this summer.
It fits my hand nicely, is friendly in terms of ease of use but the hooks on the pad have worn down to nothing. The sandpaper simply won't stick. I'm pretty disappointed since I'm in the middle of two projects I'd like to finish up before the rainy season begins. And it's had light use.
I've tried to find a new "interchangeable pad" for the regular tear drop sandpaper but there don't seem to be any. So I'm faced with purchasing another mouse or trying something else. The motor seems fine so I'm reluctant to buy a whole tool when it just needs a $5 part.
Also, the Black and Decker sandpaper wears very quickly. Fortunately, there are other makes of hook and loop sandpaper and these have been much more satisfactory.

Wood cutting blades $50 to $60? What???The Fein Multimaster really is a great tool... We have 3 in our business... But, Man o Man, The blades prices recently increased and we have discontinued them.... Somebody is making money or are they...Doesn't appear to be a long term success for Fein....
Holding powerThe tool needs a better way to hold the saws etc. to keep them from moving from there set position. I understand that an improvement is comming. I hope they have a fix for existing tools in use.
Great toolA great tool for anyone who likes to do most any job that comes along. Yes it is pricy but like other reviews I've read here ,it does cut down on the labor time a whole lot. I have only had it for 1 month but in that time I have been able to refinish 3 large old mahogany windows down to their original beauty and was able to make a few almost impossible cuts to repair a staircase. The tile man left me a mess before I could put in the trim and this tool not only was able to make quick work of removing the excess grout and setting cement and it even allowed me to sand down a few bad edges on the marble tile. So far I gotta say I love it, and look forward to getting a lot more done in a lot less time! Also it is a lot quieter than the porter and cable tool and is quick with tool changes, also being able to put the cutting blades at almost any given angle is indispensable in tight spots.

The Best Deal on Refills for the Mouse Sander/PolisherThis looks like the best deal in replacement accessories for the sander polisher. I find that I have to buy replacement sandpaper (especially the fine grit) more often (separate package). I tried putting together my own sandpaper, but after the cost of the velcro and the imperfect fit, I went back to the B&D accessories.
