I recently got purchased two air purifiers, my first unit, the Bionaire tower from Costco wasn't bad at $125 CADR was about half of this unit. Loud at all speeds, I guess the smaller fan has to spin faster to move the air. But alas, It wasn't big enough for my 20x24' bedroom, so I needed to upgrade.

Why I chose this unit over the Honeywell 50250

High efficiency! Very low power usage, so it can be on 24/7. On silent mode it uses 4 watts! And yes silent mode is absolutely silent. Thats nightlight wattage! On max it uses 54 watts and moves a lot of air. The honeywell unit is loud and uses lots of power. 170 watts on high! It does however move slightly more air than the Plasmacluster.

Plasmacluster/Ionization. Honeywell didn't have it.

Even without the rebate this is the unit to buy for larger rooms.

I do however wonder how the HEPA filter is going to last 5 years when you can't clean it. The prefilter and carbon filter will catch the majority of the dust, but once the HEPA gets clogged you have to either run it at lower efficiency or get a new one.

We live in a desert enviroment, a lot of dust inside our home constantly, it is also allergy season and I haven't been sick, (yet!)
We just had a new baby and we placed the unit in her room, it is very silent, and we haven't had any allergy or sinus problems with her, we think it is thanks to the clean air she breaths.
I do recommend to purchase this product. I am purchasing one more for my parents and one for my office. (We work next to a foundry plant and they expell thick smoke everyday which we breath thru our AC system!)

Yes, this thing will set you back a little more "gold" than something like the other product I tried, the Honeywell 50250 Envirocare Air Purifier. However, BELIEVE ME PEOPLE, it is well worth it and I am definitely not one to throw money around left and right for little or no benefit. I love VALUE and the value factor with this unit is excellent.

I returned the Honeywell unit because, quite frankly, folks, it was too noisy. Even on the low setting, it sounded like a big whooshing floor box fan on at least medium if not high. It was white-noise-ish but it still interfered with TV watching to an annoying degree. On the other hand, if you WANT white noise, by all means go for that unit.

As soon as I packed that thing up to send back, I ordered this, the Sharp Plasmacluster FP-N60CX unit, and could not be happier. With the Sharp rebate available plus a special Valentine's day discount from Amazon, I was able to get it for a final bill of two hundred thirty eight. Sweet!

The Sharp unit is significantly more advanced: it kills bacteria and certain viruses (like influenza) with the plasmacluster feature, has separate pollen and dust sensors which will kick the unit on and off depending on environmental pollution, has a remote control that I can program into my learning remote (SO AWESOME to be able to sit on the couch, press a button on a remote to turn the display on to see the air quality (good, slightly impure or very impure) and then turn the display back off), etc.

The Honeywell unit, on the other hand, simply had a low, medium, high and off turn-switch you had to set manually, no automatic adjustment, no smart sensors, etc.

One nice thing about this over the Honeywell is that this unit is relatively flat. It will close to the wall and be unobtrusive. The Honeywell is this stout little pot of a barrel-like thing...feels like you're wasting space. So I am really digging the Sharp unit.

Also, a big deal was this (pay attention): The replacement charcoal filters for the Honeywell unit run about $11 online, and you must replace every three months for the odor removal to keep working. That is $44 per year.

On the other hand, the Sharp unit's charcoal filter is WASHABLE and lasts 5 years. This is a consumables savings of $220! That is almost what I PAID for this unit.

If the price difference is LESS than this $220, and you want to retain the smell removal, the Sharp is CLEARLY the better choice!

The increase in price of one hundred dollars final after rebates was well worth it for the Sharp unit.

All that said, the Honeywell unit did give that "fresh moutaintop air" feel to the air in my house. The Sharp just does it even better, though. Oh and I am happy to report no itchy, scratchy problems from cat dander. Have been almost completely itch-free for two weeks now. Sweet.

BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE! I recently moved into an upstairs apartment, a heavy smoker lives beneath me. My place constantly smelled of stale smoke and smelly cooking odors.\:( It was miserable to live with the overpowering odors; I tried everything to get rid of them. One day, my daughter said, "This place smells like a stinky motel." NOW, I enjoy very clean, fresh air in my apartment. The Bio Fresh is very quiet and easy to use. It arrived quickly and packed very securely.

I have problems with airborne allergens and with asthma. I have spent nearly two thousand dollars on different air cleaners over the past ten years. They all proved to be ineffective, noisy, ugly, and/or overpriced. The Bio Fresh works for me. None of the others did. I enjoy the several different modes of cleaning available. It is an attractive machine that fits nicely against a wall. Everything about it is well thought-out. It is well worth the money. I just purchased my second Bio Fresh air cleaner and it was delivered earlier than expected. It has helped my breathing more than all the antihistamines, inhalers, and all the other machines combined.

I am delighted with my new air purifier. I did alot of research and comparison studies before my purchase. I have parrots with powder producing feathers. My aviary is part of the main living area in my home and I needed a unit that could serve a large area. I am happy with the performance. No more feather dust all over everything. My roommate is not coughing anymore. I have a cat; and the odor from the litterbox is no longer an issue. I have it set on automatic - how easy is that? I can barely hear it working. Add to that, long lasting filters and low-cost operation make this product a winner

I had looked at several different air purifiers, both in store and online, before finally choosing this one. I must say I am very pleased with my choice. The price was very reasonable and it definitly exceeded my expectations, considering all the many options in air purification. I noticed a huge difference in the quality of the air in my home the next day. I have always had trouble breathing when I sleep and always clearing my throat throughout the day and after having the air purifier running for just a few days, I have noticed these problems dissapear. It is also interesting watching how it senses things like vacuuming and burning candles polluting the air and adjusts its speed accordingly. Definitly a great buy.

I spent some time searching around, with my criteria being of course cost-effectiveness, low noise, and mostly the ability to clean the air effectively. I was initially under the impression that the replacement filters would save me a lot *(over previously systems I had owned), but that was not the most important selling point. I am now shopping for filters, and realizing that it is a two-step process... getting both the carbon screen and the entire filter. While I am shopping around for the best deal, I am planning to meanwhile just use the vacumn to prolong the life of the existing carbon screen and filter.... seems to be ok to do. I highly recommend this product.... GREAT UNIT !

After owning several more expensive HEPA filters over the last 10 years, I have been very impressed with the Hamilton Beach TrueAir Air Cleaner. I throughly researched this unit before purchasing and have been very pleased with its capabilities. It's quiet, the filters are easy to change and find, and its automatic function with the UV light works as expected. It was well worth the investment.

Originally I purchased an IFD air purifier. They simply don't work.

To replace the IFD air purifier I purchase the Honeywell 17000. The unit works really well at removing dust and other airborn particles. The unit is not as "whisper quiet" as the model name would suggest - but I do not have trouble sleeping while it is on. It sounds like a small box fan on a low setting - which is not too bad at all really.

For the price - I would highly recommend this unit over others.

I just bought my second Honeywell air cleaner. Actually I bought 2 more. I bought one 6 years ago and ran it constantly. The motor is finally wearing out. This air cleaner worked great in my daughter's bedroom... she is severely allergic to dust and she has related asthma. It works so well that every week when I go to dust her room, there wasn't much dust to remove. I am buying one for my bedroom as well. I'd like to have one in every room of the house! Awesome product for a great price!

Although this is a louder unit than I had hoped, it does an excellent job, and has improved our air quality substantially. We've noticed vast improvements in our allergies. For the price, it's really a great buy. I am going to buy one for each room.

I've had the Panasonic MC-V5746 for two months. My previous vacuum was also a Panasonic and lasted for 15 years! This one lives up to its reputation; the HEPA filter is great and removes dust and animal dander. I also like having a separate bag and am happy I didn't choose a "bagless" model...all the dirt stays in the bag with no mess. It's quiet, with a long cord, and the 14" path is not too wide and makes it easy to maneuver around furniture. The only drawback, which I hope Panasonic corrects on future models, is the handle. It's too short (I'm 5'8"), and there's a little cap on the end that comes loose and pinches my hand when I'm pushing/pulling the vacuum. I've called Panasonic Customer Service and they said a replacement or upgraded handle is not available. Otherwise, it's a great vacuum!

Right now, there are no cons. This vacuum cleaner is light and easy to handle. It picks up everything on rugs or bare floors. It's attachments are easy to use. It is quiet, has a light for maneuverability, and its cord is long enough to go from one room to another. I'm especially impressed with the HEPA filter. I don't know too much about all of the fancy terms out there, but I do know that I see almost no dust in my apartment anymore. I've only had it for two months, but my place has never been cleaner. If anything goes wrong with the vacuum cleaner, I will be sure to update my review. For right now, though, you can't go wrong with the MC-V5746. I can't recommend it enough.

I just bought this product 2 days ago and I said I would write a review once I have tried it out for a week. It's been 2 days and I could not wait to write about this product. I suffer from severe allergies and they just seem to get worse every year. Once I got this air cleaner, my allergies magically diappeared.
I also own a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Quadra GP and this Bio fresh Ultra destroys the Sharper Image. The Sharper Image Ionic breeze will go into storage. Since owning this for 2 days my house is allergy free this air cleaner is by far the best air cleaner out for the price. Very easy to use and looks great. The air quality monitor is unbelievable!!

If you are looking to an energy efficient, quiet, not too expensive and technically advanced air purifier then this is the one for you!

I have some bad allegories to juniper pollen. We had a small ionic filter system for the bedroom that just wasn't doing the job. Sure it would look like it was cleaning the air, but seemed like only a few feet away it did nothing. Bought one of these Bio-Fresh systems and it changed the room! It even tells you how bad/polluted your air is around unit. My wife can spray her perfume 15 feet away and it will peg the particle meter on the unit. The unit is very quiet compared to some of the other fan type units and with the brushless motor the energy usage is very low.

I would like to get one in every room of the house, but would be too expensive. Would recommend this one to everyone!

We've had the Ionic Tower UV for over three weeks now, and we're keeping it. I'm not going to sit here and claim it works mircles, but can tell you the air quality is better. Ok, maybe I can't tell, but my girlfriend with asthma can. It took about a week before she really noticed a difference. Hasn't had an attack since week two -- she ususally has one every other day or so.

This purifier is rated to clean an 800 square foot area, or about the size of a small/medium two-bedroom apartment. Compare that to the 500 square foot area of the more expensive Sharper Image without UV and there is no comparison. The larger unit offered by Sharper Image with UV does compare, but it's price tag is well over twice the price as this one -- no wonder they'll give you half off a second purifier.

When viewing the Ionic Tower UV online, I thought it looked great. I was suprised when I received it -- it looks even better -- and no, I don't work for the company. It is of the highest quality, and looks like a work of art.

For the most part it is silent. During it's normal operation you can only barely hear it within five feet. If you're even closer, you can hear it running thru it's cycle, where it turns on for about 20 seconds and then turns off for 2 seconds (low buzzing sound).

When it gets dirty it does make a crackling sound similar to that of a bug zapper/egg frying, which is slightly irritating. That is easily rectified by a quick cleaning. It's very easy to clean and only takes about a minute -- take this from a person who hates to clean things. Just take out the filter consisting of three long metalic bars and wipe off the dust. It's recommened that you clean it every five days, but it usually starts crackling after three.

Overall, I'm very pleased and highly recommend this tower.

My husband suffers from environmental (and food) allergies. It has been quite a process to indentify all of the myriad allergen sources and eliminate them. I am not by nature a clean freak so when we realized he had dust-mite allergies, I was depressed. Since he has the allergies, he can't do the cleaning (and I _am_ the one who is home full-time.) So it fell to me. Uughh!

The thing is though, whenever I sweep, all of that dust gets kicked up into the air which makes the situation temporarily worse. (I know because my HB Air Purifier tells me so on its air quality monitor!) So I crank up the purifier to high speed whenever I sweep or dust or move the area rugs to shake them out outside. As a bonus, keeping the air purifier running means that there is less dust floating in the air and settling on the furniture which means less dusting for me!

Also, we have two small children. They get pretty excited when Daddy gets home and there is a lot of running and jumping and wrestling. That kicks up a lot of dust! If we don't keep the air purifier running, my husband is stuffed up and sneezing within minutes. With this air purifier, they're having a lot more fun! I've noticed that my one year old is less congested now too.

FYI, we also but allergen barriers on all of our beds and pillows. We replaced our traditional sofa with a futon with an allergy barrier and fitted cover that gets washed every two weeks. And we will _never_ live in a home with either carpeting or forced-hot-air heating again! But we bought the air purifier before we made those other changes and I credit it with at least half of the improvement.

Anyway, I did a lot of research before I bought this unit. We have owned it for about four months and I am 100% satisfied. I came online to buy new filters. We do rinse the prefilter regularly and that also seems to make a big difference.

I, too, have noticed that the air quality gets worse when I'm cooking- especially if it's something greasy.

After researching several air purifiers, I found a recommendation for this one at Allergybuyersclub.com. Since it was relatively inexpensive, I decided to try it. Wow, am I impressed! I set it up in my bedroom. It did smell of plastic for a few hours, but by morning the smell was gone. But the important thing was that for the first time in months, I woke up without a stuffy nose or any wheezing. The very first night, it made a tremendous difference! And it has several nice features, like the air quality testing, and a way to test the efficiency of the HEPA filter. I love this purifier so much, I bought another one for the living room. Highly recommended!

I love this Purifier! Especially cool is the auto speed setting which reads the air quality of the room, and adjust the speed of the fan accordingly. Sometimes when I'm cooking something that has a lot of aroma, it whips into high speed.
It's a large cleaner, but not too large that you can't move it from room to room.
I leave it running in my Bedroom at night, and the white noise is perfect for deep sleep. You won't find a similar cleaner even close to the price of this one. An awesome buy!

This Hamilton Bch Air Purifier does a more than adequate job of cleaning the air in a room up to 300 Sq Ft and I would highly recommend i considering the wonderfully inexpensive price compared to other leading air purifiers. My allergies have improved greatly and my wife and I catch much less colds.

The usual expedient delivery from Amazon left me with this product sitting in a box for a couple of days before I had rearranged the furniture to place it where I'd intended. The effect is dramatic - this system cleans the air quickly and very effectively even on the lowest setting. Fortunately, it has three different speeds - the highest speed is rather loud, and I recommend turning it down before bedtime. This is by far the best air purifier I've ever owned.

I use this in my main game room, replacing an older Bemis product that I was unhappy with. I loved it so much, I bought it for my bedroom and one for my child's room! Probably one of the best air purifier's on the market.

After dealing with asthma/allergy issues...both myself and one of my cats...we decided to purchase the Rabbit Air Purifier. I could not be happier. I could immediately tell the difference, both in myself and with my cat's asthma. The unit is extremely lightweight and easy to move between rooms (we move it from our downstairs living area to an upstairs bedroom at night); as well as being extremely quiet. I highly recommend this product to anybody suffereing from asthma or allergies.

My son who's been suffering from allergies and congestion for 3 years, simply does not suffer anymore. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but he hasn't been getting sick as much nor having sinus problems. I'm considering biting the bullet and purchasing another for my daughter's bedroom because she now has sinus problems as well. The unit emits a very fresh air almost like the air from a rainforest. It's completely silent running on low. When it detects impurities, it kicks into high gear but sounds just like a fan running. It's very easy to use, so portable (light in weight) and unobtrusive because of it's width. This was a great investment and we look forward to purchasing another.

We recently purchased the Bio Fresh Air Purifier through Sparo products which we received within a few days. At the same time we purchased the LifeWise Ultra Air Purifier at Radio Shack. We decided to put the Bio Fresh down in a room in the basement where it was most needed not to mention the LifeWise Ultra Air Purifier was not recommended for the space. We put the LifeWise Ultra Air Purifier in our bedroom. It wasn't two weeks before we started hearing a very annoying ticking sound in the LifeWise Ultra Air Purifier so we took it back to Radio Shack and exchanged it for a new one. In the mean time the Bio Fresh was working like a charm and the mildew smell was almost gone. Unfortunately we had since decided to move so we weren't down in the room as much. It took about two and a half weeks before we started hearing a humming sound in the new LifeWise Ultra Air Purifier, it went from low to louder to low again (hard to sleep with that). So we took it back to Radio Shack and got our money back. We put the Bio Fresh in our bedroom and it is so quiet. I love the remote control that came with it and it's so sleek looking. The Bio Fresh is so quiet that, I have a constant ringing in my ears and I actually had to turn up the fan to hear it in order to help drown out the ringing. Oh yah the Bio Fresh reads the particles and odor in a room when you first turn it on (it's really cool), that when we put it in our room, the same day we took the other one back, the reading wasn't the best. But it didn't take long before the Bio Fresh took care of it. And the best part we have two dogs and they sleep in the bedroom with us in a kennel and before my husband used to snore so loud and now he doesn't snore as much or as loud as he use to. I surfed the net for hours trying to find the best air purifier for the money and the Bio Fresh is soooo worth the price. I am so happy with the Bio Fresh and the service that when we get settled into our new place we will be purchasing another Bio Fresh from Sparo products.
