Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Great CO detector at a great price.
I'm reviewing the Kidde 900-0146-004 Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide Alarm. This unit was incredibly easy to set up straight out of the box. It's also easy to hang. And for those that do no wish to hang it up on a wall, it has a small "kick stand" in the back that enables it to stand by itself on a shelf. The unit is simple to use and has an LED that is easy to read. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Kidde 900-0146-004 Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide Alarm
This is a good quality CO detector at a reasonable price. I like the LED indicator on the front. This feature displays the level of CO in the room rather than just sounding an alarm at a certain level. This way you know if there is a potential problem that is pending, before you actually have one.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Great Unit Great Price
This unit was easy to set up after getting it out of the bullet proof plastic. This unit should be placed at ey level on the wall. I am not sure if this true for all the brands but it makes an ugly picture. Better ugly then dead.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review You Should Buy This Unless You Want to Die of Radon Gas
I have no intention of dying of radon gas, so I bought ye olde safety siren pro 2 and let me tell ya, suckas, I have not died at all yet.

Here's what I don't like about radon gas: everything.

I've named my detector. Yeah, I know it's queer, but it's so impersonal sitting there at the foot of my basement that I thought I should begin treating it like a member of the family. So I call it Cliff.

Every morning after a responsible breakfast (and an irresponsible ingestion of PCP) I run downstairs, kiss Cliff full on the sensors and say, "thank you for keeping my lungs from being filled with gas for one more day on this godforsaken planet, you crazy son of a gun." Then, instead of going to work, I hide down there. And I wait.

Cliff is the best thing that's ever happened to me and every day I appreciate him more and more. I'm going to feel even more secure once I get some batteries up in his lil' area.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Now I know I'm Safe from Radon
I live in an area that is at "medium" risk for Radon. Since we live in a berm home, I was always worried that Radon could be a problem for my family. I bought this within 48 hours it assured me that our home was safe from Radon gas. It worked just like the manual said it would, after I finally found a place for it. :) The manual instructions list 4 or 5 requirements for where to place it. Not to be place in laundry rooms, kitchens, near an exterior wall, on the floor, etc.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Great Item
The item was shipped in 2 days and it performed exactly as described. It's great because it can be used in any room in the house and you get results within 48 hours at each location. This product could be improved by showing results to the nearest tenth of a whole number rather than rounding the result down to the nearest whole number. Overall, great item.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review A Trustworthy Lifesaver
A few weeks ago, I smelled gas in my basement, but when the utility company came with their electronic sensor, they found nothing (and they did a fairly detailed check). The next day I was still sure I was smelling something, so I bought this unit. A few days later, the unit sounded its "gas detected" alarm. Again, the utility company found no leaks with their wand-type sensor. When I called a plumber, with his soap-spray he found six leaks in my old gas line piping leading to the furnace. The moral of the story: trust your nose, and get one of these units. It detected the gas that the utility company missed (twice!).

Very good , everything OK , arrived on time , A would recommed this to everyone. The only remark would be to deliver universal power supply (EU and US norm 100-240AC) .and not only 110AC USA version

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Product Comparison
The Model One CO Detector is probably one of the best available. Our family searched all available resources to assist us in our selection and this one came out on top.

Your pricing comparison however is very misleading. Although you show this product as available for $9.99 it is on average $50. Your pricing comparison is very misleading.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Get a detector, but not from First Alert...
I think every home should have a CO detector in it.

Having said that, avoid this one and any others from First Alert. I bought an expensive one from them, and it gave a constant scream. The silence button did not work. Customer service would only say it shouldn't do that. Someone suggested that it might need to 'burn-in' for a few minutes. So I sealed in a room surrounded by blankets to keep the noise down, and it could still be heard a block away four hours later.

The store I bought it at exchanged it for this model, but the problems are just as bad. And again, no help at all from customer service. I have had my house checked and there are minimal levels of CO, but these detectors keep going off and deafening everyone around.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Save Yourself From CO
I always seem to hear just about how much of a importance it really is just to get a carbon monoxide alarm, as much as a simple smoke alarm. Now that it has been a law in New York City, there is nothing else you can do buy get one. It is just the safest you have from losing your own life. Yet, with all the ones that I chose, I bought the First Alert FCD3N model from my landlord. It is very simple, and very easy to use. It really isn't all that hard to operate at all. My only one problem, is that some of the information that was written on the alarm actually wasn't in easy to read letters. Instead, it was just written in the same image as the carbon monoxide alarm. Nevertheles, I honestly suggest you buy this alarm. It really is a must-have for every household.

Overall: B+

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review 5 stars for being a life-saver!
Being a new parent - I'm extra cautious these days. You can't go wrong with the old saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." So, I definitely recommend this detector. It could save your life!

However - and this contradicts an earlier review - please comparison shop a little before you buy...

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Best Alarm I Ever Had
I don't know what the person with the one star was talking about but was so wrong. This alarm is very loud. Not only is it loud when it goes off but the light flashes on the one that is going off. I am actually gonna order another one. Best one I had ever since I already had tried several! Its a must to get!

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Glad it chirps, chirps, chirps
I'm coming back to order these again, after having a set for years. Yes, when the battery is low it chirps...thank God !! A smoke alarm with dead batteries is useless. And I'd certainly rather have a LOUD alarm and know I have a problem than an alarm with a low warning sound I don't hear !! It's been reliable in the past and I feel it's a good monitor.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review Happy Consumer
This is a great smoke and CO alarm. It seems to be very sensitive to smoke...particularly when I burn toast. However, it has a convenient silencer button. I always change the battery every 6 months and have not had any problems with it.

The other person who reviewed this didn't think it was loud enough...I think they need a hearing aid.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Review PH100 PH surface meter
The unit is accurate and works as advertised. Minor detail they DON'T mention. You really want to calibrate it for the most accurate readings. To do this you need PH 4 and PH 7 solutions which are NOT included. Luckily I have a friend in the chem business so I got some free. Otherwise you are stuck having to buy a bottle of each. The unit does work out of the box, comes with batteries (little watch style, so will be $$ to replace down the road, but hey the do give you batteries to start with) and does a decent job even without calibration.
