I recently installed this box on a late model F-150, x-tra cab, 6-1/2' styleside. Here are a few installation tips that aren't in the instructions.
Before placing the box on the truck, adjust the gas struts to the lowest position. This will prevent the lid from hitting the rear window trim, which juts out on F-150's. There's an adjustment nut at the bottom of each one. The box can then be installed all the way forward. I used regular nuts until I got things just right, then removed them and installed the locknuts (one at a time). This made the installation much easier. The plastic washers will keep the "J" bolts from falling out once they're positioned. The instructions call for some drilling, but with a little ingenuity, or a small child to help you, the two front "J" bolts will hook into the 1/2" holes located in the front of the bed. They are long enough, but there isn't much room under there, so the kid can help you get the bolts through the holes and hold them in position. You'll have to leave the gas struts adjusted all the way down, but the lid still opens far enough.
I believe this is the highest quality truck box of its type.
Installation is quick and easy. The interior mechanisms and gas struts are surrounded by protective shields. The steel tray has slots in the side that fit over tabs on the box to keep it from sliding. The latch buttons are easily accessable, even on a 4wd truck, and it has a thick clearcoat that should keep it new looking.

This is the best box going. I looked long and hard before purchasing a Weather Guard 117. It is eight inches wider than most standard boxes which helps for those extra tools that you want to have on the job. The red push button is easy to opperate even when your hands are full of tools. It has compartments on the bedrail for those handy items that always seem to find their way to the bottom of other boxes. I looked at Dee Zee, Delta and other popular brands but none had the quality and conviences that Weather Guard puts into their boxes.

I know over 12 households currently using the CareGuard Medical Alert System and I recommend it to all my senior citizens community members. Have heard only positive feedback. I trust the product for my own parents, friends and relatives. It is easy to install, activate, turn on & off. Superb customer service!

At my place of employment we use Knaack 36 Jobmaster boxes. The hold up to severe weather conditions and the abuse of several people use.

This is an excellent holster, it's made from some kind of plastic, seems to be cheap but it has a very good quality, you can brake it? NO you CAN'T. try it.
It holds your gun very well and no one can get it out.

Is very usefull the way you wear it, you dont have to take out your trousers, belt etc. in order to use it, only slide it between your trousers an your hip and your'e done, it stays exactly where you need it, also works in sweat pants whit a little movement. (who works in sweat pants anyway)

I've looked at X10 technolgy for years, but never really had a need to use it before now. I recently installed a pool that has a light that is plugged into an outlet in a flowerbed at the back of my yard. I wanted to be able to turn the light on and off without trapsing through my flowerbed in the dark. This X10 set from B&D proved to be the perfect solution. I followed the instructions in the box and had the outdoor outlet for the light installed in about 15 minutes. It worked perfectly and has worked flawlessly for the past month or so.

I have not used any of the other included X10 receptacles.

One word of caution. Be sure that you realize that there are wattage limitations to the switch outlets. You cannot run things like pool pumps, etc. on one of these lightweight units. I know they make X10 switches that handle more load, but these aren't it. I believe the outdoor switches are only rated to 500 watts. The indoor units are even less (I think they are 300 watts) and aren't grounded. They are strictly designed for lamps.

Assuming you have light load needs, this is a very good startup set.

This is one of the coolest kits I have come across and at a great price, I friend of mine paid full price from Black and Decker a couple months ago. I have a few X10 products in my house but this kit is awesome because it has a remote that can control everything from lights to appliances.

Setup took 2 minutes after opening the box. Push one button on the remote and push one button on the base station and that was it. Easy plug and play solution.

I used the outdoor lamp modules to control my outdoor lights and gave the remote to my wife to put in her car. Now when she comes home at night she can turn on all the outside lights and 2 lamps in our foyer. The range of the wireless remote has been pretty good, about 140 feet depending on which walls it is going through. I am thinking about buying another kit for the remote and outdoor lamp modules.

As a guy that does many smaller, short term jobs I use this tool box because of it's small size and versitility. It's not unruly to move around like the big boxes and perfect for smaller jobs where you are onsite with only half the tools in your collection. Being a Knaack box, it's construction and security is superior.

This is a very well constructed toolbox for the professional mechanic or serious DIYer. Knaack doesn't disappoint with a host of features which have made its boxes the preferred choice of industrial and construction tradesmen. This box has a nice satin red powder coat finish that will match the typical "mechanic color scheme" better than the standard Knaack tan color.
The box is made primarily of 16 gauge steel, but the bench top and critical frame members are made of 12 gauge steel. As the box weighs about 350 pounds empty, it will take two strong men to lift it empty. The drawers are 16 gauge steel. As a point of comparison my Sears Craftsman "Ball Bearing" roll-away's box is constructed of 18 gauge steel and the drawers are 22 gauge steel.
If you are looking at Snap-on boxes, the top of the line models use 16 gauge steel with 14 gauge in critical areas. I believe the Proto Heavy Duty Work Stations are similar in terms of materials but I did not mic the steel on one of them to check. Rest assured that should you purchase this Knaack box it will provide years of service under most conditions.
In addition to its heavy construction and smooth drawer pulls what I really like about the Knaack box is the Watchman lock system. You need a Master brand model No. 5 lock to make it work; it's available at a hardware store but curiously not listed as an accessory for this box (at least yet). The lock sits inside a pocket between the doors and is not exposed other than the side where the key is inserted. This in concert with full length piano hinges on the doors gives this box a good measure of security against potential thieves. It's my opinion that the security system is superior to Snap-on and Proto boxes of similar configuration.
This box will fit on the back of a compact pickup truck lengthwise. How convenient.

Knaack's storage boxes are superb and this one is no exception. There is enough room for at least a dozen power tools and a few hand tools as well. The top shelf is great for boxes of screws and other small items. It rolls through 36" doors with just a bit to spare. The top is a little too high to use as a work surface with the casters installed though. Over all the Knaack 69 Storagemaster Jobsite Storage Chest is a winner and will keep your stuff safe.

If this newer model is anything like the knacks of old then they are well worth the money for the professional...the door handle has been recessed which should work nicely for transport,(mine always gets bent because it protrudes), especialy along side other boxes or equipment....front access locks are a big improvement over earlier models...this allows you to line up boxes tight and still get to the lock...hopefully the gas door cylinders offer more help to lift the lid...(older models were a little weak)....All in all they are and have been a high quality product that can stand up to rough everyday use...
