Lots of run time and light in weight, but a very poor chuckI've regularly been using a venerable, brute-strong and die-hard 14.4 DeWalt drill (DW954) that has great battery life and excellent torque but also carries a lot of weight. And, after a while, you know you're hoisting an anchor, especially when driving screws overhead as with drywall. As a handyman, I'm often installing lightweight shelves, artwork, fixtures, racks, and other objects in wood, drywall and regular red brick so after a while, weight and size DO become important. So, I decided to try the 9.6v lightweight entry from DeWalt. I purchased it from a famous home center at a great price. It has great run time per charge, maintains a relatively steady speed even in harder substances, is beautifully compact and lightweight BUT has an absolutely awful chuck! Unless you're using the newer hex-shank bits, regular round shank drills will invariably spin right out of the chuck -- no matter how hard you try to tighten the chuck -- and stay stuck in the material you're drilling until you grab and twist the bit out with pliers. It happens so frequently that it quickly becomes an almost unbearable nuisance, especially when you're "on the clock" and trying to do the work quickly. I returned mine for a full refund and have already ordered a Bosch 32609 9.6v compact drill from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, I'll have yet one more battery charger to contend with but it's reviews were so good that I have to give it a serious try. If DeWalt could re-introduce their little 9.6v powerhouse with a better chuck -- say a single sleeve ratcheting type -- I dare say that it would be very hard if not impossible to beat for performance and value.
plenty of powerI made the mistake of 1st buying a cheaper, less powerfull model. You really pay the price in time and limitations. It didn't do well on harder materials so I just use it for drywall and light wood work. The dewalt is much better and has saved me tons of time. It is powerful enough to drill through hardwood and even some brick. Unless you think you can get buy with a lightweight model, the dw926k is a good compromise between the cheapest brands and spending several hundred for a really powerful model.
Many years of satisfaction and serviceMy dad had one of these drills which he must have used since at least 1990 as a general contractor. He used it on nearly every project, without fail. I inherited it from him in 2000, and have used it for every big home improvement project I've worked on. It's always been up to every task, with plenty of power on reserve. Only after so many years is the battery starting to lose its charge, too!

Great construction, poor design?I've done finish carpentry for over 15 years and my Senco Boat Anchor finally died a month ago. I needed something quick for the next day so headed to Lowe's where the Dewalt was $20 less than the Hitachi and Senco. I have several Dewalt tools including the new 12" slider which I love, so I bought it. This has got to be the most comfortable finish gun to use ever. The belt hook is great and it's darn light.
Unfortuneately, from day one I had trouble with the safety plunger on tip. On about 3 out of ten shots the plunger would not return fully so gun would't fire consecutively. I had to pull it back by hand. Then yesterday I finally needed to fire some 2 1/2 inch nails and found they would'nt slide into gun smoothly so I was left with a situation were I would fire a nail, pull the safety tip out, push the nail strip up and fire again. Not good. So again, sorry Dewalt, I needed a gun for the next day so back to Lowe's it went. These WERE generic brand nails. I wish I could have given Dewalt a chance to fix the issue but no time. I bought the Hitachi and it works great so far but can't give an review of it yet.

Dewalt Nailer-GREATI bought the nailer as a gift for my husband. He was always borrowing our neighbor's for home projects. Now that he has one of his own, more things are being done around the house. It's great for a novice carpenter.
It's a Winner! Not a single misfire! This is a light finish nailer that I've used for 2-1/2 years. Homeowner application, only. Used it for crown molding & other trim. Also attached many, many pressure treated spindles around my rear deck & front entrance rail.
Easy loading. Very light.
I haven't used the bump firing trigger, so I can't review that.
The depth control is easy to use, but it seems like the graduations are a bit far spread. There are only two settings I ever seem to use. I am puzzled by the highest setting...it leaves the nail head way above the surface. I thought perhaps that this might be for situations where you were temporarily tacking something in place and intending to remove the nail later on.
The adjustable exhaust is nice, but it turns too stiffly. Maybe as time goes on it will break in and swivel more easily. Or possibly I can find a way of loosening the fit. In any event, it's only a minor inconvenience. I tend to forget about the exhaust until I switch hands and get a blast in the face. Then I really appreciate the adjustable feature.
The belt hook is great.
This 15 ga. Finish nailer has done everything that I've asked of it. Thumbs-up!

Good sanderI purchased this sander because or old sander, a Black & Decker, died while we were sanding our cabinets. So far this sander has performed well - we are doing minor remodeling on our kitchen. Therefore, I believe the old saying "lo barato sale caro" (i.e. just shell out the extra bucks & get a Dewalt rather than a Black & Decker).
Excellent Power Hand SanderThis sander has been a pleasure to work with. For small and medium size jobs, it has saved me time and raw fingers while providing a superiorly smooth surface. I recommend it to any hobbyist or professional alike.
Excellent toolI've had this sander for years and put it through more abuse than I'd like to admit and it is still going strong. It has been dropped, used for several hours non stop, and worked nearly to death. It seems to take abuse and ask for more. The brushes probably need to be replaced and the bearings might be on their last legs but the machine still works without a problem. The dust bag now falls off and the cord is showing signs of cracking, but this is hardly a complaint as years of hard use will cause this in any tool. DeWalt is an excellent brand and this sander is no exception. I can only say good things about this tool and recommend it highly.

Missing parts from kitAs another reviewer has experienced, there are some kits out there
with missing parts.
My kit also missed both collets, centering guide, wrench, and dust hose adapter!
Update: Got the kit replaced with another one that was OK.
The kit itself I have found to be very good, so it could be close to 5 stars really...

This is the oneI have been using my router (cheep one) for a long time and been wating to invest in a better one for a while. This was the one I chose and Im glad I did. The three bases saved me money later. I liked that. I was amazed that no matter which base I chose to use I could still put it back in the case with the attached base. Someone was thinking as Dewalt usually does. Fine machine, speed controol, triger features, lots of things I would not have thought of untill after I started using it. Overall Dewalt is still my first choice on electrical wood working equipment.

ALL BARK AND NO bite...Drill endurance is terrible. 5 year old Panasonic 15.6 volt and 3 year old Ryobi 18 volt beat it up everyday. Protocol is 3 battery swaps in an 8 hour work day. It's only 6 months old. Bottom line, A RYOBI OUT-PERFORMS IT! My co-worker calls it a yellow Ryobi and laughs at me everytime it dies in action.
I will continue to use it because it cost 199 dollars and I cannot afford to try my luck with something else right now. Service center was dissapointing as there is no recourse for a sub par product. You live, you learn.

Made My Husband a Happy Man!I got this for my husband's birthday and he was thrilled. The first time he used it, he was helping our neighbor drill out some stumps and he said the torque was so strong it nearly ripped off his arm. (Slight exaggeration there, I hope.) Anyway. He loves it and highly recommends it.

WetterWashington reviewsA solid design, easily an order of magnitude better then my old Ryobi.
I can't wait to use this on a real project!I am new to woodworking so I don't know how much weight my review will carry. In any case, I purchased this item from Lowes this past weekend for $359. I haven't had much time to "play with my new toy", however, I was able to send a piece of Pine through the machine shortly after purchasing it. I haven't used a Planer since Jr High (late 70's) but setting up and using the DW734 was a breeze. This planer is amazing!
How did I live without thisReceived the planer quickly and put it to use the same day. Very little work to set it up and fasten it to a stand. Works exactly as expected. I don't know how I have completed so many projects without one. It's like my nail guns. It makes projects look better and it reduces the effort of producing furniture. I highly recommend it for any woodworker.

Still LookingI agree with the reviews describing the tool as powerful and great feel to it. I will be exchanging my second one very soon. The first one's chuck would not stay tight and would slip on the bit. The second one has a defective switch. It will not stop running when you release the trigger in forward direction. In reverse, it will stop. The trigger hangs on the forward-reverse lever. A drop of oil did not help. This is a potentially dangerous situation when the drill does not stop until you manually pull the switch out or unplug it. However, I will try one more time to get a good one. I like the tool design.
nice drillThis is a nice corded drill---I use it as a complement for an 18v cordless drill and the 7v DeWalt screwdriver. I will always pick up one of the latter for driving screws or drilling smaller holes. But the DeWalt corded drill is far superior when I need to drill multiple holes or use large bits. For example, when drilling a bunch of pocket holes, this drill is much smoother and quicker than a cordless drill. It's also great for using large spade or auger bits. The other day I had to drill holes through the end of a pressure treated 4x6 with a 1" auger bit, and this drill powered right through the timbers---EXCEPT: it did get stuck pretty bad in one of the timbers and I had to go forward-reverse-forward-reverse a few times to get it unstuck. Might have hit a knot or something---might have also helped to drill half-way, bring out some of the waste, then do the rest. But it shows that you can get this drill stuck under extreme loads.
Keyless is the way to goThis drill is great for most all drilling applications. The keyless chuck works wonderfully. I don't know how I ever lived without it. It holds great and has never slipped on bits from 1/8" to 1/2" in diameter. It also came with a case for $59.00. This is a no brainer. It is a professional drill at a bargain price.

Getting repaired a hassle "low quality now made in Tawian"It had it for 5 weeks before it just quit completely. I brought to the local Dewalt repair center per Dewalts service center recommendation. After waiting 2 weeks for it to be repaired, I called them and they said they had to send it off to the factory and it would be another week. After another week they said it would be another week so I called Dewalt to ask how long it should take and they said it was between me and the service center. I asked if they would call and find out what was going on and they said no. I asked what a resonable time frame for repair was and they said 2 to 3 weeks but it was up to the service center if they would issue a new one to me. I got the number to the factory and they said another week. I notice on the box it says made in Tawian and not Canada, so I am guessing even if I don't get it for another few weeks I mightg as well wait since they will all have problems because of low production quality in Tawian. Every tool I have ever bought from them in the last two years except my router has quit working, I think I will quit buying thier products.
My problem has been resolved by Dewalt they are sending me a new unit.

If you like to get grinding dust in your eyes buy this!!!!I work in a major welding and fab. shop. where we really use the grinders, not like the other reveiws. Dewalt has made the worst grinder ever.
The DW402 was designed with very serious flaw which could send you straight in the ER. (several of my co workers ended up in the hospital)
1. Where the exhaust blows out, everything that is grinded will blow right in your eyes. Believe me I know it happen to me.(with safety glasses on) Also so many people were getting eye injuries the Company I work for pulled them from the shop floor.

This is a Good Tool!Angle ginders are made primarily for grinding metal, not cutting concrete, diamonds, cutting down trees or for use as a fan or trimming your beard. This tool excels at grinding metal. Most of the bad reviews are from people who tried to use the tool for something it was not designed to do. So they gripe!! duh.........
If you can't make use of this tool, just give up. I've been around these things for 40 years, see the bigger ones every day at work. Some lazy helper is always wanting to use a 4 1/2" instead of a 9", that's why they don't last long in a welding shop, they burn up with heavy use.
Do I like this grinder? You bet! It has plenty of power, fits my hand and I love the paddle switch. It grinds welds, cuts brick and tile, brushes off paint and rust, removes wedding rings etc.
To those reviewers that cried about the type 2 guards being too costly why not just modify the type 27 guard? If you can't do that you ain't much of a craftsman. And who is so dumb or lazy that they can't blow the dust out from the switch and motor? Doh!
I think I've seen all the 4 1/2"ers that are available and used most of them. This is the one I bought for my home use.

Don't attempt to buy this directly from Amazon !!!Hi
I ordered this from Amazon on April 11th and at that time they said they will be delivering the product by May 21st. By June 21st they send an email saying that product is not yet in market so need more time and hence need my approval. So the delivery date was postpine to June 19th. Later they again said similar reason and postpone the date to July 17th and when I enquired about the reason through a web posting (the same product is readily available with Uncle Joe's in amazon) they said they will definitly deliver this time. But now (July 10th) I again received a mail asking me to authorise for a later date. This time is August 22nd. I again send a web posting asking for the explaination for keeping me waiting like this. Every time I get a automatic type reply saying the same thing. When I trust Amazon I expect some punctuality also from them. right?
PLEASE ORDER THIS ITEM DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON ONLY IF YOU CAN WAIT FOR YEARS.

Read Hoangs reviewI have been using this multi tool for a year and a half now and pretty much agree with hoang. Get the extra batts and you will be fine. I have used every attachment, the circ saw drains the batts the worst, followed by the router. I have used it to build a fence, remodel my daughters room, and drywall the garage. I am very happy with this tool, wish it came with a smart charger, and a trigger lock. (thats why its only 4 stars)
Great for the occasional fixes around the houseLIKES
1) Great price. This use to be 99$ back then.

2) Circ Saw doesnt cut really deep
3) Router is really miniature
4) Batteries die fast w/ the router, circ saw
5) A little on the heavy side
