DeWalt Review Great Drill, But
Mounting the handle at the rear of the drill has advantages. However, this drill will not stand on its battery like most, if not all, cordless drills I've used in the past. Dewalt should have included a clip on the drill that hangs on your belt, pocket, pouch, ... so that you don't need to consider where to hang it, or where to lay it flat each time you use the drill.

Otherwise, this is a fine product. I deducted two stars for what I feel is Dewalt's oversight in not providing an integrated method of hanging the drill when you use it. If that isn't an issue for you, then give the drill 5 stars.

DeWalt Review I bought an elephant gun for fly swatting!
After owning a low grade Harry Homeowner drill/driver for the last 8 years, I wanted something that would get the job done, no matter the job. Torque? Hold this thing tight, or it will tear your wrist apart. Make sure you set it correctly for the job, otherwise you'll end up with headless screws. As far as the previous complaints about sloshy settings.... It's not a solid switch from speed mode 1, 2, or 3. It is a bit clumsy, but gets changed less. The torque setting however is just fine. I've had no problems setting it. The only thing that takes away a star is the fact that it will not stand up. If you try to stand it up on its battery like most drills, it falls over. To me thats a design flaw, so it gets 4 out of 5 stars. Other than that, its great. Compared to Makita, Milwaukee, Ridgid, and other drills in this class, I'd buy this drill again. I would however probably buy a different manufacturer like Makita for a light duty drill only because the DeWalts are a bit heavy by comparison.

DeWalt Review Solid performance, rugged, dependable
Plenty of power so it has the versatility to do anything around the farm. Drives screws into hardwood with ease. Have used it for fencing, roofing, stall installations. Quick recharge makes it a useful tool for the entire workday which can be sunup to sundown!

DeWalt Review Worked well so far
I got this tool after my last drill (a Craftsman 12Volt) was stolen out of my garage. I went back and forth between 14.4 volt and 18 volt drills, but went with the 984K bebause it has a higher peak torque than many other 18V drills. Also, I used the 18V drill, and it's a little heavy to hold over your head for a while. I've used this for drilling holes in metal and wood, and it has performed flawlessly. I'm very happy with this drill.

DeWalt Review very happy
I purchased the DW984k-2 several months ago and am happy to report that it has performed like a champ. It is a great middle-weight cordless and the hammer function has come in quite handy on several occasions where my corded rotary hammer would have been too much. Perhaps the best feature on this drill is the keyless chuck. Nothing has slipped or skipped so far and I don't expect it will. I highly recommend this drill for anyone who needs a cordless for multiple applications.

DeWalt Review Strong as Samson!
I just bought this new drill. It is stronger than my old 18 volt Makita. I have been using it to set bolts in rock. DeWalt is rating the 14.4 at 1/4" diameter in masonry, but I am getting 1/2" holes 2" deep with no trouble. The third gear makes a huge difference when drilling into concrete or rock. Trust me, buy this drill and you won't look back.

DeWalt Review Can't go wrong with a yellow drill....
....even if it's reconditioned.

Makes nice clean dimples on sheetrock once you replace the factory bit with a real drywall bit. It has enough torque that it DOESN'T EVEN BURP when you finish driving the screw! Does great with square-head composite deck screws as well.

DeWalt Review works great
I had better luck than the reviewer above. Mine works great, clutch and all. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I would have prefered a metal front part of the driver as opposed to plastic. I'm not a contractor, so this probably will not make a difference to me.

DeWalt Review Good basic tool for metal roofs
I bought the DeWalt to install a metal shingle roof on my house. I already have a cordless drill/driver, but I didn't think it would be up to driving that many screws into 2" car-decking and I think I was right. But the DW257 was up to the task, with no problems. I am glad to have it, and have used it for a few other in the shop screw gun kind of projects since that I would have used the cordless for in the past.

DeWalt Review It's a good deal, but the specs are a bit exagerrated
It's a good deal, but the mfr claim is a little overstated: "The DW990 is the industry's most powerful 14.4-volt drill, delivering 334 in./lbs. of torque". Maybe true at one time, but not now. See the comparable Porter Cable 14.4-volt Model #9878, it's 360 in-lb, and for a few more bucks the Milwaukee #0516-22, at 390.

DeWalt Review below expectations
This drill underperformed in several areas. The chuck continued to break loose, the fit and finish lacked in several areas, and the torque numbers rubbed off almost immediately. In general I'm a big Black and Decker (the parent company) and DeWalt fan. Not for this product. I ended up sending it back for a Porter Cable model.

DeWalt Review GREAT TOOL
THE DRILL CAME IN GREAT CONDITION, I WAS VERY PLEASED BY ITS PERFORMANCE. I WOULD DEFINITLY RECCOMEND IT FOR ANY ONE.ITS A GREAT TOOL

DeWalt Review B/g framing nails
Hello, complaint about the b'g framing nails ,they jam up the nailer and they won't line up in the guide ,the nails have tape to hold together ,your pic shows the thin wire which holds them together.looks like the tape builds up and keeps them from lining up in the track,I got some the bostitch nails with the thin wire from a friend and they work great ,so i think the b/g nails are junk even though I have used about half a box ,shoot a few ,stop unjam and shoot.eleminate the nails with the tape for the bostitck nailer. Thank Paul A. Salyers

DeWalt Review Framing Nails
I purchased these nails for use strickly for my Paslode, after ordering them I had read other reviews that these nails cause the nailer to jam. I must of used 1,000 of them and not one has jammed in my nailer. I am definitely pleased with these nails.

DeWalt Review Nails work in Paslode
I have bought several boxes of these nails and haven't had any problem with them in my Paslode air nailer. They are heavy and when I orded two boxes they bounced around in the packing box and split apart some so now I order one box at a time. They come in a reasonable amount of time.

DeWalt Review What a Joke...
I bought this tool several months ago, and I'm really disappointed with its performance. This tool is for light weight wussy work. Has no durability whatsoever. I was working with heavy duty concrete and after 2 months the performance was getting weaker and after 1 more month the engine burned. No technical service and I got no responses from my e-mails.
I just got a Hilti Rotary hammer and this tool is kicking hard. I pay double of the price, but with this tool I can work for years without worry.
Do Not Buy dewalt

DeWalt Review Hammmer Drill Kit of the Gods
At no point in my life have i felt so complete as that first day that I picked up my DeWalt Hammer drill. I cannot describe the utter quality and sheer genius that this fine tool radiates. if you are going to buy one rotary hammer drill kit this year, make it the DeWalt DW004K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 7/8"SDS rotary hammer drill kit.

DeWalt Review Driller Killer
I bought this particular drill just over a year ago now, i cant find 1 single fault with it. it has taken the knocks and blows, and i am as yet to find ANY drill of its size to rival it, either corded or cordless. I paid 550 for mine, and it is the best value for money of ANY object i've bought EVER !! I have been asked several times "was it worth it", as to which i have replied on every occasion - "every single penny".

DeWalt Review Dewalt Bits in Throw-away yellow case
I too bought these Dewalt bits, actually two different sets with different cases. The first case's hinges broke apart and the second sets case had the insert holding in the bits come unglued. The bits themselves are bits, nothing special about them. I have other dewalt products and this one, especially the case, is uncharacteristically of poor quality.

DeWalt Review Great Bits - Bad Case
I bought this set, even though it was more expensive than the competition, primarily because of the very substantial-looking case: I figured that, once the bits suffered the inevitable fate of dulling, snapping or loss I could use the case for replacment bits. The bits were of excellent quality but the case turned out to be poorly designed; the hinge is a flimsy snap-together affair that fell apart right away. Now I have two halves of a case floating around in my tool bucket. So much for my plan! DeWalt, how could you?

DeWalt Review got it where it counts...
As seems to be the case with some of the other reviewers here, my case's hinges are hanging on for dear life. But I have to say, the bits are what I paid the bucks for, and they're certainly performing up to snuff. no regrets here in paying up for these...

DeWalt Review Now made in China
Just received my DW3178 blade from Amazon and see it is now made in China. Looked carefully on the Amazon site and couldn't find where it is made. For me there are too many other choices to buy a chinese blade, no matter how it cuts. Also wish Amazon more clearly showed country of origin.

DeWalt Review Quailty at a fair price
Ok so I went from a steel blade that came with my skilsaw, to this, and can't praise the dewalt high enough. It cuts easily through 2x stock, and just as easily and clean through plywood. I doubt I'll go thru more then one blade a year, which for the price I paid its a small investment into a quality blade. And I would do it again.

DeWalt Review good blade, but there are others
This blade is a very nice blade. it cuts smoothly and I have never had it bind on me. But it is the same caliber as the porter cable riptide blades. I use this most frequently because its what my boss supplies to us for use in our saw. but it is inexpensive and a great value.

DeWalt Review Not Very Powerful
This saw hasn't lived up to my expectations (unlike the many other Dewalt tools I own). It will cross-cut 2X lumber, but only with some effort. I can't get it to rip a full sheet of plywood without it becoming hopelessly bogged down. I wouldn't recommend this kit for anything other than the lightest-duty cutting. (I haven't tried 18v saws yet, so I'm not sure if this is unique to this caliber or not). For now, I sticking with my corded saw.

DeWalt Review 12v Trim Saw
This saw is a nice little saw that with a nice sharp blade and a couple of juiced up batteries can handle most of your small cutting jobs(such as plywood, osb, trim, and deck boards) I also would say a 14v or 18 volt would be the best for me but this saw has surley lived up to its value. One perfect example is sheeting a roof its nice and easy to carry that little saw up there without having to worry about cords!! You can always count on DEWALT living up to its name!

DeWalt Review Good for which it was intended.
I didn't expect this saw to replace my corded circular saw when I bought it....nor should you. It really is handy for a quickie cut here and there. You'll really come to appreciate it. You don't have to string out and rewind a bunch of extension cord just to make a couple of quick cuts. Good little saw. If you're looking for something to fill bigger boots, better go for a 14 or 18 volt model.

DeWalt Review Buy a smaller sliding miter saw instead
Purchased this 12" compound miter saw on the reccomendation of a friend and I regret that now. The saw itself is ok. It is easy to adjust, smooth to use, and has plenty of power to cut framing lumber. However, I find this saw to be WAY too big for my needs. Iyt is big, very heavy, and the base is very deep making it hard to fit on a miter saw stand. Instead I wish I had bought an 8", or perhaps 10", compound SLIDING miter saw.

I bought the reconditioned saw (no longer available at this time) and after a few weeks, mind has developed a bad crack in the cast aluminum base. I haven't fingiured out what I am going to do with that yet - presumably bring it to dewalt for repair. In any case, I would not buy this saw again.

DeWalt Review DeWalt DW706R 12" Double Bevel Compound Miter Saw
Excellent tool. Esthetically and functionally I couldn't distinguish from a new tool. I didn't give five stars because I think the durst collector could be better designed. Everything else is five star.

DeWalt Review MY LAST MITER SAW (for good reasons)
This replaced my good quality 10" after doing some crown molding. With this 12" Dually I can get my hands in close, the larger, sliding fences give me more options. It's a lot quieter than my old saw, and the 12" blade lets me do my kind of work without investing in a "slider". Incidentally, I bought this DeWalt #706 reconditioned - It had a ding on the base which didn't affect its accuracy as it was 100% square right out of the box!
