DeWalt Review Collated Nails ARE Fragile
Believe it or not collated nails ARE fragile. When these arrived the outer box was fine but the inner box was broken open. More than half the clips were broken, many into small pieces of 3 or 4 nails. These things cost as much as a digital camera, an i-pod, or fine china and are nearly as delicate. They should pack them the same way, WITH CARE. I'm sure the nails will work but I'm in for alot of reloading and jamming I'm sure.

DeWalt Review Caution to prospective buyers.
I purchased the Bosch 1617EVSPK router kit and the Bench Dog P-PC200 phenolic plate at the same time. I need the plate for a special jig. Bench Dog claims the P-PC200 plate is predrilled to fit all Bosch 1617/18 routers. I spent at least 1 hour trying to fit the plate onto the plunge base and was unsuccessful. The hole pattern on the plunge base matched a set of holes on the paper template included with the plate, but the plate was not predrilled with those holes. I called Bench Dog twice, and they kept telling me it should fit. Fortunately, Tool Crib was kind enough to let me ship the plate back at their expense.

The quality of the plate appears fine, but I am rating the plate only 3 stars because of Bench Dog's package claims and the technical support I received from them.

DeWalt Review I am very pleased with this product.
I use this ProPlate in my Bench Dog cast iron router table wing. So far the only router I have mounted to it is the DeWalt DW618 fixed base model.

Though it took some head scratching and studying of the paper template provided, I eventually figured out which holes to use to mount the plate to my router. My belief is that if Bench Dog says this plate will fit your router (with the predrilled holes), then it will fit. My main confusion was that my router's clear base mounts with four screws but the ProPlate only uses three screws to mount to my router. Once I realized this, putting this plate into use was a snap!

I highly recommend this product for its quality, performance, and decent price.

DeWalt Review Tools seem nice.. case is huge
The tools seem to be very nice although I have not had a chance to use them a lot yet. Light is a bit of a waste but the drill, powered hand saw, jig saw and three batteries all piles into the super large case weigh a ton. It might be better to split the stuff up into 2 smaller cases.. plus the stuff seems to shift around in the case a bit. I am still waiting for the FREE tool I was supposed to receive from Dewalt on the mail order deal that was offered. If the extra fee tool comes then this was a great deal with free shipping.

DeWalt Review im happy i bought it, but get the four pack instead
I've had this set for nearly four years now.
As a collection, it's great because you dont need different sets of batteries or chargers.
but its really about the separate tools

1.The drill- the best cordless drill on the market. its perfectly balanced. powerful. sturdy. totally reliable. the hammer mode is great too. i love this tool.

2.the flashlight- a very handy option. in deciding to buy this set, i didnt think i liked the flashlight much, but i use it a lot.

3.trim saw- its great for those one or two cuts. has a nice balance and is pretty sturdy. depth adjustment is simple and easy. the bevel is a bit shakey, and not properly balance for accurancy. the guide is worthless. this saw eats up the battery very quickly. doesn't replace a corded. not even close.

4.recipro saw- again, great for small projects. i use it a lot to cut steel and copper pipes. doesnt have much power, but if you need portability or a light weight recipro, its great. for me and my needs, this does replace a corded.

5. jig saw. i hate this saw. it pisses me off when i see it in my tool crib. i really wanted to love it. i love curved cuts and intricate work. i thought i;d love the portability, but i realize i was just caught up in the cordeless craze. this tool fills no niche. get the four pack and avoid this tool. heres why: the chuck is keyless, sure, but its plastic and stripped out on me. the power is weak. the tool is improperly balanced for smooth cutting,. you need to pay more attention to holding it steady and flat than where the blade actually is. and, when do you ever need a cordless jigsaw? you don't. jig saw work is workbench work. buy a corded one.
i have an 80 dollar corded dewalt jig saw that is 10 times the saw that the cordless version is.

DeWalt Review Ok for more batteries
I bought this item because i needed two more 18v batteries and it is a better deal to get two tools with the batteries instead of buying the batteries separately, it works out to spending $50 and getting a second hammer drill and cut out tool. The hammer drill is great I now have two. it is a bit heavy so expect your wrist to give out after a long day. Also the drill has more kickback and recoil then it should. I'm a bit dissatisfied with the cut out tool, there is no variable speed control, and the tool is physically large so it not good for detailed work.

DeWalt Review Amazon SUCKS!
The tools are great! The service from Amazon is by far the worst you will ever experience in YOUR LIFE!!! AMAZON STILL OWES ME OVER $500.00 and if I cannot get it back to my credit card I will have to sew the company!

DeWalt Review Good Saw
A solidly-built saw, I'm very pleased with it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because changing the blades can be somewhat difficult. In all other respects it's a wonderful tool.

DeWalt Review Powerful & Tough
Very powerful unit that has held up well, the shoe leaves a lot to be desired and it is very fatigueing to use. The saw is difficult to control because of the hammering effect it seams to have. I perfer my partners Super Sawzall by a huge margin. Dollar for dollar a great saw.

DeWalt Review Good and Bad
We use these in a professional environment, where they run several hours a day. My quick thoughts:

1. The weight and balance is good - this is a nice lightweight tool, especially compared to its competitors.

2. The dust collection works adequately, far better than its competitors

3. Durability has been spotty - we have some that have lasted several years, one only lasted 2 weeks before the brushes overheated and melted into the case.

3a. Noisy.

4. In this class of sander, there are few choices which are suitable for professional use. Since we do a lot of delicate furniture work, including veneer sanding, we don't want huge heavy sanders. We value good balance, light weight, dust collection, and durablity. It doesn't cut it in all respects, but its better than the other sanders in this size that we have tried.

DeWalt Review Powerful, yet light enough for one hand operation
When I started remodeling, I need to sand the stairs. There are 17 flights covered with varnish, paint under linolium. After stripped the linolium off, I need to sand the threads to bare wood to refinish. These are made of fir, usually they are very easy to sand. But with the varnish and glue left over, I tried all my three sanders, two random orbit sanders, one 1/4 sheet sander. They all work very slow. I got only two flights done after an hour and used many sanding discs and paper. Then I decided to try something else. I have never had or used belt sander before. It seems that's the only hand held sander available for me. So I went to store to compare various belt sanders. I own other DeWalt tools as well as Porter Cable's, so they are the first came to my mind. After comparison, I like the DeWalt one better for its weight and handling. It was a surprise that only took me two hours to finish the rest of the stairs all together and used only one sanding belt (still lot of sanding left on that one belt). Still need to use other sanders to finish off the tight spots. I used one of those "rubber" abrasive belt cleaner when the belt got clogged up with stuff, press the stick on while it's running up side down, the belt gets cleaned and became like new in seconds. It is a very powerful sander, you can gauge the wood easily if not careful, like press hard while moving side ways. But I manage to control it pretty well even with one hand since it's not heavy. It becomes hot after intensive use just like any other power tool. Avoid touching any the metal part is a good idea. The dust bag could've been made of better fabric since the dust will go through the bag and come out during heavy sanding. It catches 90% of the dust though. It would be nice to have a port like their biscuit jointer to hook up ShopVac or dust collector. Porter Cable ones have those for the dust bags. So you can have the choice. I will get the sanding frame add-on for more delicate sanding.

Over all, it's another fine tool that you would expect from DeWalt.

DeWalt Review Ok for light jobs
I was remodeling a basement for a customer and gonna be hanging a bunch of drywall with lots of cuts. I decided to purchase the dewalt cutout tool to save time since I work by myself. I needed some extra bits as well. I got both 1/8" and 1/4". The 1/8" are for outlets and recessed lights. When I started using these bits, they seemed pretty good, but be careful not to go too fast. If you go too fast, you will definitely break these bits. I ended up breaking about 8 bits through the course of the job. It's probably par for the course, but make sure if you are gonna cut out either a door or a window to use the 1/4" bit, they work great.

DeWalt Review Good...........but......
Overall the general purpose bit is pretty good. For the price you can stock-up on them without breaking the bank.

Be careful if cutting through dense woods. The bit heats up fast and can dull prematurely as a result. It you are going to do alot of cutting in dense woods, I recomend you get yourself one of their bits with the carbide burrs (dw6613). It is designed for tile and stucco so, it should not have any problem with hard woods.

DeWalt Review Great Dust Bag
It's great to have a dust bag for your planer since they spray shavings halfway across the room. This is a must if you want to plane a door inside. It works great and fits inside the case of my DW680K planer. It's big, about6"X6"X3", but it does fit inside the case of my new DW680. It has a zippered bag and wire frame that you have to assemble with 4 screws, but it's easy and quick. Would be nice if it folded flat, but it has a wire box frame. When I was shopping for a planer, this was the only one I found that even offered a dust bag. For 20 bucks, it's worth it. Took Amazon a month to finally ship it though.

DeWalt Review Save time cleaning up!
DeWalt Planers do an excellent job but they do spit out a mess. If you are building a house or in a workshop it is really not a problem but if you are just planing a door, instead of rehanging it, in a finished house wood chips will go all over and make a huge mess. This dust bag catches all the large planed shavings but small dust particles will still escape but isn't so hard to clean up. Sure beats their chop saw dust bag which is totally worthless.

Downfall is that it doesn't fold down and so it will not fit in the metal storage case the planer comes in without taking it apart.

DeWalt Review good deal
the only downside is that a part of the motor fell of and stopped the fan. So when i was drilling, it got really hot and overheated. The motor wouldnt turn after that.

DeWalt Review Quality product
I just got this drill a few days ago and I am thoroughly impressed with it. We just bought a house, and after just a few days I can tell it was a wise investment. There are plenty of cheaper 7.2v drills, but in my opinion a DeWalt is worth the money.

DeWalt Review Uninspiring
I had one of these for about a year. I own lots of Dewalt cordless tools, and have been generally very happy with them. I use the heck out of my standard 12v drill, so this right-angle drill seemed like a natural addition. I found the body to be pretty large and clumsy, which kind of defeats the idea of getting something for working in confined spots. Because it was hard to hold and manipulate, I had a hard time driving screws without slipping the bit out of the head frequently. After a while, I just gave up on using this and found other ways to get the work done. (If you're interested, I have used a Milwaukee corded "close quarters" drill and really like it.)

DeWalt Review Very Handy
I got this on closeout at a local home center for a steal. Didn't think I would really use it much but I now find myself using it all the time. Great for small or awkward spaces. Good battery life. Fits well and balances nicely in the hand. It's pricey but very handy.
