DeWalt Review A good drill
This is a great drill combo but I have found that I need the saw much more than I needed the right-angle drill ( buy the saw combo instead! ). I don't think the 18V drills are needed except by the heavy user. I am a first-time home buyer and have yet to have a need for the 18V

DeWalt Review Not very impressive
I love dewalt. I have a tablesaw, half a dozen cordless tools and a miter box made by them. I've used the 14.4 for a couple of years now I think and it beats the drill drivers I've had in the past (mikita, porter cable) hands down. The beef I have with this hammer/drill model is for one thing, it's pistol grip in the back makes it very unbalanced and fatigueing. Second, this model delivers only 290 in/lbs of torque. I can hold the chuck tight and bogg it down to stop. On the other side is the DW983K which has a nicely placed pistol grip in the middle of the drill/driver and delivers a bruting 400 in/lbs of torque. I can't bogg that down. I bought and sold the hammer drill in the same week. You would have to kill me to take my 14.4 drill driver away. If you want a hammer drill, get a hammer drill but don't think it will do the same job. I believe this is alot better that my old 14.4 ever was especally with the new Metal Nichol Hydride batteries.

Easy to load and use, however suffers from jamming, trying to shoot two nails at same time. Happens about one out of thirty times. Fairly easy to clear when it happens.

DeWalt Review Factory Reconditioned?
The tool works fine, but I question what the definition of factory reconditioned is. The tool arrived with a bottle of lubricant that had the top snipped off. The oil spilled all over the case. All over the lovely inspected by stickers. Who puts an open bottle OF oil in a case and ships it. Did Dewalt actually inspect the tool or just repackage it and ship it out as is? It seems to work fine, but I doubt anyone inspected anything. DO NOT EXPECT FACTORY RECONDITIONED TO MEAN WHAT A NORMAL THINKING ADULT THINKS IT SHOULD MEAN. SPEND A FEW EXTRA BUCKS AND BUY NEW! BUY IT FROM YOUR LOCAL HOME CENTER SO YOU CAN BRING IT BACK IF DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.

DeWalt Review RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!
WE BOUGHT THIS DEWALT BELT SANDER YESTERDAY TO STRIP OUR RED OAK FLOOR OF ITS STAIN, AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF USE IT STARTED SMOKING, WE LET IT COOL OFF, WENT BACK LATER AND USED IT ABOUT 45 MINS., WENT BACK AGAIN AND WHEN I PULLED THE TRIGGER IT STARTED THEN STOPPED, IT NEVER CAME BACK ON!!
RETURNED IT TO LOWES TODAY FOR A NEW ONE, GOT HOME STARTED USING IT AGAIN ON THE SAME PROJECT, 15 MINS. LATER IT STOPPED WORKING, NO SMOKE, NO NOISE, JUST STOPPED.IT'S BEEN TWO HOURS AND STILL NOTHING(I CHECKED MY BREAKERS JUST TO BE SURE- IT'S THE SANDER!) MY HUSBAND IS A CONTRACTOR AND WE HAVE MANY DEWALT TOOLS, ALL OF THEM FANTASTIC!! BUT IN THIS CASE I WOULD JUST MOVE ON TO ANOTHER BRAND, I WILL TOMORROW WHEN I RETURN THE SANDER FOR THE SECOND TIME. $200.00 DOLLARS!!!- WHAT A JOKE

DeWalt Review Should have read the reviews
Before buying this DeWalt sander, I failed to read the reviews. Now that it is on its return trip, I read them and concur with most. That I bought the DeWalt sander because I have other DeWalt tools that are great. Not my experience with this sander.
My problem was it plugging up with sanding dust and required the careful extraction of sand dust to get the collector to work. I didn't have a problem with over-heating, but felt the tracking device didn't function (however did not have a problem keeping the belt tracking from a visual check). When the air blower passages were clean, the sander functioned well. But after a few minutes of sanding, I'd have to take it apart enough to remove the blockage ahead of the blower fan (good to have a high powered vacuum). Not a good design, IMO. I was disappointed.

DeWalt Review Nice sander, needs some improvement
I used this sander on a deck and I ran it hard for about 45 min at a time and it never overheated. After about a week of heavy use and abuse it would not turn on. I got it repaired under warranty(the switch went bad) Overall I really like the tool, it works better than a Porter-cable I used. I wish it had a fan or something to clear the dust out better. It will get clogged if you close the dust ejection port.

DeWalt Review Heres a trick for you if you already have this rig....
The standard padded belt that comes with it seems to fall short on providing padding far enough around the waist. I agree that Dewalt must have gotten almost no input from someone in the field before making these pouches. Tools spill out when you set the rig down, and overall, they lack some important features. Dewalt is trying to leave the configuration of these pouches versatile enough for right handed or left handed user. Hence the four hammer loops (one on the front and the back or each pouch) as well as the pocket for the razor that is also on each pouch. The photo they put out with this belt shows some guy loaded down with tools, including a razor knife on his rear left side. Even if he is left handed that is the absolute weirdest and most ridiculous place anyone whos ever had to reach for a razor would put it. I took advantage of this spot to make my own cats paw holder. (something else this rig has no place for) out of it by cutting the bottom out of that spot with (oh the irony) a razor blade, and cutting off the hammer loop below it!!! It doesnt make this rig perfect, but add an eight dollar pair of suspenders to it, and you may get a little more use out of it as I know they are not cheap. Dewalt should be ashamed of itself for putting out such crap!

DeWalt Review top grain leather?
Holes in the pockets after six months. Too bulky, not really good for indoor use. Way too heavy.
Buy an Occidental.

DeWalt Review DeWalt Should Sell as a SET and at a reasonable cost!
Ok I admit it, I misread the advertisement and thought I was buying a pair (set) of extensions. For the price, I feel one extension set is a rip-off and DeWalt should consider selling a set at a price somewhere between $32 for 1 set but certainly not $64 for 2 sets (list price is $88 for 2 sets).
One set is useless when, for example, sawing crown moldings or similar instances. Nobody wants to keep switching the extension back and forth.

DeWalt Review with DW703
Online this is marketed everywhere as compatible with the 703, 706, 708. The actual package only lists the 708. After installing on the 703, I would say they made this for the 708 and discovered it kinda worked for the 703.

The support piece is attached to the two rods through 2 large nuts. Note that you WILL need 2 crescent wrenches to assemble this part. The nuts are designed with a plastic liner on the end that is not grooved, so your first screw-in makes the grooves. The rod is flattened to allow for a crescent wrench to grab it so you can tighten. OK, it works there.

On the other end, the rods fit very loosely into the base of the 703. Most importantly, the 703 is designed so these rods only go in about 3 inches and then hit the base. Therefore there is NO "telescoping" functionality at all. From the minimal instructions, I take it the 708 is not like this and they can slide under the base, but the 703 only allows full extension. They give you screws to tighten down onto the top of the bars, through the base of the saw. These screws are almost impossible to get down in there. You will need a very large flathead screwdriver (at least 5/16" head) to crank this down. I had to clamp on an auto-loc handle onto the screwdriver just to tighten the screw all the way. Same goes for both screws.

So when it's all attached, it's fairly solid so far. But this is a somewhat permanent attachement the way those screws are. I don't want 20 inches sticking out all the time, and I can't telescope it in at all. I guess I'm suposed to keep the large screwdriver and the auto-loc handy whenever I want to attach or take off this thing. Who knows how long those screws will hold tight, then this thing is worthless.

VERY dissapointed in DeWalt on this. I thought they were suposed to be the best.

As always the quality is great, but you only receive one arm in the package. Just want to make you aware.

DeWalt Review A pile of junk
I have this saw. You can't put any pressure on the saw because it will kick the breaker. It vibrates unbelievably. The threads on the vise screw got messed up the very first time I used it. I've only had it for a couple of years with little use and the motor burned out already. I'm looking to buy a new chop saw and it will not be a Dewalt.

DeWalt Review burned up twice
I bought the dewalt 871 14" chop saw because I was told it would cut metal. It cuts thin walled stock, but it doesn't cut a 3" mechanical tubing with 1/2" wall or 3" solid stock like promised. I could barely put pressure on the blade to keep it cutting. I don't feel like replacing the motor again.

DeWalt Review Not worth the high price
I've had this for ~ a couple of years now. It's ok, and has decent power. It trips the ciruit breaker constantly when I try to cut through 1/4" square though, which gets annoying. It'll cut angle or thin stuff pretty quickly though.

But worst of all, is that weak miter clamp. First, it's hard to set it at the angle you want b/c you're never sure if you're exactly hitting the angle you want.. But when you do finally set it, after you tighten the work down, the whole clamp will move, and now you're at a different angle. Cheap!

DeWalt Review Not big enough....
Your outfeed table should be at least as large as the main table of the saw. This one seems quite small to me. Also it takes up floor space and only serves one purpose. I built an outfeed table a little wider than the table of the saw, with storage below, and a router table insert built in to the top. Makes more sense in a small shop where you have to optimize the use of all your space. I used 3/4 in plywood for a subbase and covered it with 1/4 hardboard. When the hardboard gets messed up (glue, dings and dents) its easy to unscrew that piece and replace it with a new one. Cheap too, I figure I have about $50 in the table and an hour of my time. Can't recommend this extension table.

DeWalt Review 4 years of use
I have owned a Dewalt table saw with this extension for 4 years. The fibre board surface curved and sagged even with the steel stiffener underneath resulting in the workpiece only being supported partially. The leg is flimsy and can move in and out making the top surface move up and down. Not a design for the long run.

DeWalt Review poor top covering
While the fit with the rest of the saw (I have all the other options as well) is good, for the life of me, I can't figure out what DeWalt was thinking when they put the top covering on this table extension. The basic idea of an outfeed table is to support longer materials so they slide through the blade more easily and with less binding. The very first piece of rough wood I ran through the saw tore through the flimsy covering, rendering it useless. I wound up covering the top with high density plastic to get a nonbinding surface. Now the rest of the covering is detaching from the table, so I will have to replace the surface again. My recommendation: if you buy this, plan on immediately resolving the issue with the top or you will regret it later.
